Two friends and I came here on a Saturday morning for a brunch. It was relatively busy at the time, but not terribly. We all ordered food and coffee, the food came out in a reasonable time and was decent, nothing that stood out, just your typical brunch place. But the coffee took 45 minutes to get to us and we ended up eating our breakfast with no drinks. What was frustrating was we notified the wait staff on 3 different occasions that we were waiting on our coffee, they were extremely dismissive and kept reiterating they were "backed up" while they brought out coffees for other tables that had ordered after us. After 45 minutes and our 3rd comment to a server, we finally got up and went directly to the counter to explain what was going on and our coffees were promptly made and brought out. They had an technical issue with the ordering system - which is fine, it happens. What I can't understand is how we mentioned it to two different staff members, very politely, 3 different times and no one explained what was going on or offered any kind of solution to us other than sitting and waiting. They appeared annoyed by us. Upon approaching the counter ourselves, our coffees had still not been made or started. The staff listening to us the first time would have solved the problem. We sat with empty plates of food for 15 minutes and the coffee still hadn't reached the table and none of the server's we'd mentioned the issue to batted an eye. The service was honestly just really disappointing and unacceptable. These servers need to be better trained in being polite, friendly and attentive as these are the opposite traits of our experience. I felt like we were treated as a nuisance rather than a guest and because of that, I won't be back. read more

I'm glad that Corner Bakery is here in Corpus. I would go here quite often when I'm home in Dallas. Pretty much everything is good here. From the sandwiches, the salads, the soups and of course the pastries. Their customer service is good here as well. My only complaint is the cleanliness. I don't know why, but it often feels kind of dirty here in regards to the tables. Maybe they lack finding good help in this area. Because the rest of the restaurant seems clean. read more

This was by far the worst experience, I've ever had! We came in, it was 11:50. The restaurant seemed steady. Immediately upon walking in, the restaurant had a foul odor. It was between a wet rag and batteries If that makes sense? Anyways, we go upfront and wait to be called on. There was a family in front of us, so we stood there trying to figure out the menu. We were wanting lunch. But they had the breakfast menu on display and had no menus out to read. We saw a lady grab a paper menu from the dessert display. So we grabbed one. While waiting a lady straight up cuts in front of us and immediately gets assistance. Now mind you we had been waiting for at least 8 minutes at this point. So we let it slide, we were confused but got over it. We get called by the lady that let the other customer cut in front of us. She was so short with us, hardly talked to us or acknowledged us. I asked a question about the manager special and she seemed aggravated. She didn't ask what sides we wanted. Instead she just said "insert your card" and walked away. Apparently they are out of ice. So fine, we go to pick a seat and the smell is just super strong the tables and floors are sticky and the restaurant is filthy! There was food and trash all over the floor. Gnats are flying everywhere. I spent $33 dollars for the worst experience. My tomatoes practically melted in my mouth because of how spoiled they were. The avocado was brown. The carbonara had no flavor and the drinks from the fountain machine were flat! I will never ever go here again! I don't recommend this place whatsoever. Side note the lady that took our order had dirty long nails. She even scratched her head. Mind you this is the gal grabbing our ice and getting food ready terrible terrible experience! read more

Walked in and it was clean but the wait was long. Waited for our food for 22 minutes. Asked for no Swiss and Swiss was put on my sandwich. Overall satisfyin. The edamame salad was super refreshing. Turkey bacon ham stack halved with the rustic Italian was delicious and filling. read more

We visited The Corner Cafe for breakfast while we vacationing. It reminds me a little of a smaller scale Panera Bread. You order at the counter and someone brings the food to your table. If I was only rating service, they would have been 5 stars, the line was long but moved very quickly, Lesley, our order taker was friendly and efficient and answered all our questions. The food came within 5 minutes. I had the Anaheim scrambler and the eggs were dried out. The flavor was fine, just not a fluffy scrambled egg like I expected. It came with fresh fruit which was good and harvest toast, which was a little cold. It was not a bad experience at all. They were fast, the place was clean, and the staff was helpful and friendly. We stopped here because all the other restaurants were packed with holiday shoppers. I am sure glad we did. Their BBLT definitely deserves the extra 'B'. Walking up for counter-service ordering in the Corner Bakery, I instantly feel a sense of déjà vu--a little like Panera in layout and process but on a smaller scale. Under these familiar trappings lies a warm, welcoming ambience: gracious hospitality from friendly servers who seem to actually enjoy taking care of customers, a muted bustle from the kitchen occasionally spilling out into the dining room, and oohhhh-the irresistible smell of freshly baked muffins crowned with fruit, nuts, and sometimes even chocolate chips, seed-covered bagels, & flaky croissants and tarts and Danishes (oh my!) that you'd expect from a patisserie! The menu here is much less ambitious than that of Panera, but the four entrees and complementing sides I've tasted were all well-thought out and executed. Espresso beverages aren't extensive but one can order a double shot in a large coffee cup and make their own "black eye" with the four different java offerings lined up on the self-serve beverage counter. I used to be an obsessed fan of Corner Bakery but I do have to say that the Corpus location has completely gone downhill. The food is usually absolutely delicious, I love the chopped salad with their house vinaigrette dressing and the turkey uptown avocado sandwich. The service is not great, feels like there are always employees just standing around or on their phones/talking when they could be helping to man another register with a full line. Biggest complaint has to be cleanliness. I started the decline in frequenting this restaurant when a friend of mine told me she found a roach in her pasta. She hadn't been back since and I kept going but noticed the restaurant was always dirty. Mildewy smell from the carpet, the lids/straws/condiment section with sweeteners etc is never fully stocked. Counters are always sticky with spills. The tea dispensers are always empty, the bathrooms are atrocious! So filthy. The last straw for me was my most recent visit, we had just ordered our food and sat down at a booth. Saw a few German cockroaches coming out of the wall right onto our table. This was pretty much it for me. Management needs to get pest control involved and they need to do a complete overhaul in this place. read more

Always good food and service when I come here. Me being pregnant, tired, and hungry, I ordered the sandwich wrong. My mom and I both wanted the BBLT with egg, and I forgot the egg part. I went up there to correct it and pay for the egg. They accommodated me and had it sent to our table without extra charge, even though it was a fault on my end. read more

Corpus Christi has its good and bad. Good: Palm Trees, Bad: Customer Service at Restaurants & Retail stores. There's a reason this town is called the corpse of christ. They served my children mac & cheese twice w/debris & hair in it and then had the nerve to try and not give me a refund. I had to speak to a manager and she thought a free cookie would be a good negotiating tactic. Thanks for the cookie but You're still giving me a refund. Corner Bakery, Panera Bread, corporate bakeries with their standard meals & menus. Nothing unique here except the poor service and homeless people outside. read more

The catering is super. I LOVE this place. As a salesman, I cater several meeting per month. Corner Bakery in Corpus Christi has been PERFECT on both quality and timeliness every time I've used them, which is more than 10. What's more is that the catering managers demonstrate commitment to get things right, and express gratitude for my business. I get either their lunch boxes or their sandwich platter specials. The broccoli cheese soup is delicious (definitely not on your diet though), and I love the veggie tomato mozzarella sandwiches. What prompted my review is the nice touch from the catering manager where he prepared a little gift box with a GREAT coffee cup (the cup reflects my personality perfectly) and some cookies and coupons. I just don't use anyone else anymore because I can count on Corner Bakery to get it right. read more

The food is fairly priced as well as the coffee, also the cafe items (muffins, cookies, bagels) all seemed to be fairly priced as well. The atmosphere overall was friendly and homey with a lot of open space and seating. I wouldn't mind coming again. Not a bad place for a quiet study and coffee session. read more

I wish they would bring the desserts to the table with the food instead of handing multiple plates of sweets along with all the drink cups when you order. Let me start off with the fact that I have had worked at several restaurant industries that I pretty much know what to expect as a consumer. Being a regular (@ Cafe #1566) is an honor especially since I love the menu they provide. But what doesn't meet my satisfaction is that every order I make, I would add some items to the meal and pay it; I have the receipts to prove it. Then, those orders will come out, just as is without my added requests so of course, it's probably the POS that's at fault, so I go ahead and address the problem to the manager. What really gets to me is that it happened more than twice, no problems has been fixed and I keep having to come to the register to have them fix my orders. And, when they do "fix" my order, they don't give me a fresh meal after waiting for 10 minutes for help or even offered any type of reimbursements or even a free dessert. They just added the items they missed that's not shown up on the kitchen's screen or maybe they're just being careless. How can I enjoy my meal if I have to fix the problem they're not even fixing? read more

Not impressed wIth concept, menu, price, food, service, or management. Although ithink they're in competition with panera (which ihave never been to) for wholesome fast food, it still feels/tastes like you're eating pre-packaged processed foods. Manager came over to apologize for not having ingredients on hand to make two different items i ordered. Nice gesture, but he was too talky and lingered way after we finally got our complete order. He assumed that my complaint about not seeing the kid's menu at the time of ordering was aimed at his staff, rather than at the store for not making it more apparent. Lack of enthusiasm of service staff may be a reflection of the manager's personality. read more

Pretentious and Expensive, dirty, I actually saw a waitress pick up a napkin off the floor and wipe a nearby table with it. The self serve coffee bar was poorly stocked. I had to go to the front to get half and half for my coffee, the container was filled and given to me to return to the coffee bar. Our order was delivered incomplete, just bad don't go.
