They had me at Pumpkin Spice pancakes. So I was walking down Broadway looking for a place to grab lunch and this sign at the front got my attention. I had to try it and this place is a sit down restaurant but there are no servers to take your order and instead you walk up the counter and order (this is a good thing since there's minimal wait to place your order). My pancakes comes with eggs and I mistakenly ordered my eggs over easy. I was informed that they served their eggs scrambled ( not a deal breaker). I got my pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs. My order was topped with walnuts, whipped cream, vanilla syrup and pumpkin pie spice. It was tasty and satisfying. Then they didn't give us the lemon loaf that was ordered and paid for with the reordering of the missed sandwich. Hardly a surprise then when the iced tea labelled non-flavoured ended up being the flavoured one. I didn't check, but I bet the other tea was flavoured too, which not only speaks to a lack of attention, but a lack of proper cleaning. Makes one wonder, what else are they messing up and forgetting to do behind the scenes? Yeesh, I shudder to think! The sandwiches were average. Date of visit - September 13, 2017 I had a coupon for a free dessert for joining Corner Bakery Cafe's e-club that was expiring that day, so prior to going to the Yelp Elite Event at Salt & Whiskey, I figured I'd grab an early snack... which became an early dinner once I saw the Steak & Cheese sandwich on the menu. (And good thing I did, seeing how the food at the Elite Event was basically tray passed appetizers - delicious, yes, but not that filling.) For $9.79, the sandwich was certainly pricy, but what I got wasn't that bad. The steak was smothered in cheese sauce with sauteed mushrooms, peppers, and onions and served on a toasted roll with a side of chips. The steak was nicely seasoned, and the meal definitely was fresh. For my free dessert, I went with the blueberry hand pie - which I ended up bringing home for the next day's breakfast. And, despite it being not as fresh as when I got it, the pie and its filling were goooood! One star off for the service - I was a bit surprised that my server hadn't charged me for my drink initially (even though I mentioned I wanted a small drink along with my order... twice). I enjoyed a quick breakfast from this new Corner Bakery Cafe downtown San Diego right on Broadway. I ordered a new item to the menu, the Crunchy Honey Granola Banana Steel Cut Oatmeal and a cup of Breakfast Tea. The oatmeal came with there homemade raisin pecan sweet crisp served on the side. It was an interesting given it had a salt and sweet thing going on. It was good, but I am not sure what if had to do with the oatmeal though given the oatmeal already provided a grain element. A mini fruit salad would of been more appropriate. The oatmeal was good, but a little watery for my taste. The granola was a nice touch for the added texture and flavor. Both the sliced bananas and drizzle of honey on top added a little sweetness so no added sugar was needed. I did not know that the oatmeal came with dried cranberries so that was a nice surprise. They give you a good amount of oatmeal so the meal is moderately filling, but probably filling for most people given I have a large appetite. Good oatmeal. read more

So our cousin had to order again and my husband had to go through another transaction and that was disturbing because we were almost finished by the time our cousin received her meal. My panini was good. My kids enjoyed the salads they ordered. Some of the sandwiches looked dry but no one complained because we enjoyed our company. I have ordered my lunch here for the past month and love to get the entree pasta. every time I order through a particular waitress (Ursulla), gives me a hard time for asking for a single side of parmesan cheese to go on top of my big pasta entree.
