I was in San Diego over the weekend and decided to go to Corner Bakery Cafe for Breakfast. Just to give you guys a heads up, this location is at a corner and parking could be a challenge. I was able to find street parking with ease. Upon entering I was greeted and acknowledged. I've been to Corner Bakery before and have had their lunch items many times, but not for Breakfast. I ordered the Flatbread Avocado Sandwich, Chocolate Muffin & Large Coffee. The Flatbread was really healthy, delicious and fresh. It comes with Spinach, Avocado and Egg. The Chocolate Muffin, was one of the best I ever had. It was very flavorful and especially MOIST when you ended up breaking it apart. Now, I haven't coffee in a long time and decided to get one. I choose the Hazelnut flavor coffee. The flavor was really good and I was able to savor it. My overall experience was great and I will definitely come back if I'm in the area again. read more

Come down the long-laned line and choose a picture that does more justice to the food that comes out. Large portions, filling, but zero flavor. Breakfast is very important to me and I love breakfast places so it starts to one of them isn't easy but this place well deserves it! From The Rustic atmosphere to the above excellent customer service and the Fantastic food with the low-cost this is probably one of the best breakfast places I have been to in San Diego. Me and my wife have been here one other time and that was the morning after our wedding night so I thought it was time to come back see if I liked it as much as I did back then and I was well pleased. Me and my wife both ordered the pancakes with eggs and bacon. Pancakes very soft and delicious eggs were perfectly cooked ( me personally I hate when eggs are runny or watery I think that's gross) and the bacon was delicious. The kicker was that the food came out about 5 minutes after we sat down. For all you coffee addicts they do have a coffee bar which I will add my pictures. I have the pleasure of having Lisa as my server and she was absolutely amazing. If you go in there look for a Grace Lee age long haired woman with a beautiful smile. She took everything you need and even gave me a free lemonade which I would highly recommend you try. On a side note as only eating breakfast then they also have lunch so if you go in for lunch tell me how it is. Recommendations: 1. If you're going for the first time try the pancakes bacon and eggs for starters. I eat a lot and that filled me up almost couldn't finish. Me and my wife both state and it only cost $22. 2. Definitely ask for Lisa when you go inside the store she is amazing. 3. Try the lemonade I thought it was amazing however you should try it and tell me how you like it. 4. Food was decent and as expected. But service was poor. I went in for a late lunch at 130p on 12/13/17 and no one in line. I ordered and waited. I saw my food being place on the shelf between kitchen and front. It just sat here while 6 employees were looking at a giant snowman cookie they had made in back. When I asked if that sandwich back there was for my order, they didn't even bother to look at the ticket. They just told me that my number would be called when ready. I mean really, it was the only food on the shelf and everyone was standing around. I'm a fan of the food and cookies. But service at this location was subpar. read more

The menu is large, so there is something for almost everyone. There are pastries, desserts, salads, and sandwiches (cold and hot pressed). The service was alright. Nothing to brag about but not bad. For a panini and upgrade to Cesar salad I paid a little over $12. I got the Pomodoro panini. Very very good. I enjoyed my meal. My friend got the breakfast panini and said it was good, but that it tasted like something she could have made at home. There isn't much parking in this direct block but Horton Plaza is very close and definitely walkable. I will be back, but only if someone else wants to go! read more

So I ordered two entree size Cesar salads. When I arrive to pick up my order I notice that I didn't add chicken. ‍ ok that's fine, I'll just pay the price of add on chicken. So online says it's $2.20 to add chicken to the salad, so 2 sides would be $4.40. Why did she charge me $8.80 ?? When I asked, I was told by the lady behind the counter in the kitchen it was because only half of the bag would normally go on the entree size salad. I was literally confused, I know the salad I ate the other day had more than what I was being given. All in all if I'm paying $12 for a chicken salad I would like CHICKEN on my salad. She brought them out and what she called wheat was full of caraway and my rye was dark brown, had no seeds but was full of walnuts?!? We told her rye has seeds and she insisted it was correct. On top of that, the bread was stale and cold, they didn't even bother to toast it lightly, an $11 sandwich for cheap stale incorrect bread, ok meat and tomatoes. The absolute worst service I've ever encountered. Not only we're not served what we ordered, but after we were told we were going to be refunded our money, we were then completely ignored and waited forever to get our refund. The customer service people at the front counter were completely incompetent, as well as the manager, who walked away from the counter before our refund was even finished. We stood around, for what seemed like forever, to get our refund finalized, because these people run around like chickens with their heads cut off. The whole time we were here, I heard several customers being apologized to for mistaken orders and terrible service. The corporate office definitely needs to review what's going on here. Who knew that they had great pancakes here? Breakfast sandwiches I did expect, but a full breakfast menu I did not. I also didn't expect their breakfast to be that good, but I was definitely wrong. They have some specialty pancakes but their plain ones are delicious- buttery and nice and fluffy. Decent bacon and great scrambled eggs as well. The cost is about $9,so it's not a bad deal for downtown San Diego. The coffee could be better, but it's OK for the most part if it is hot. I came here on a Wednesday during what was clearly the lunch rush. The line moved really quickly though and I was helped fast. I ordered my food and it was out in less than ten minutes. I ordered the lemon chicken soup and a turkey sandwich. The soup was good, but it came out lukewarm. The tables were also really dirty, so I had to wipe my own down. I don't know what it is about this place, but their pesto cavatappi is to die for! Much better than any Italian restaurant. I should probably start trying other things from the menu. I went to the restroom and upon sitting down noticed that there was some food that I hadn't order. I spoke to the cashier Aaron who had a server remove the food. When I eventually received my meal I noticed that the bacon was over cooked and that there was a sizable portion of toast missing from the sandwich. This is not the first time that I've been unsatisfied with the service of this establishment. I understand that this is the holiday season so there are more than usuall business. I was so excited to see that Corner Bakery Cafe opened up in the building of which I work, but I was very underwhelmed today. The food is what you would expect, with the standard price point of downtown San Diego. I ordered the pesto sandwich with a cup of tomato soup; good, not great....I honestly think I received the wrong sandwich, but it was till okay. But the thing that realllllly got me was that I sat down to eat and then work but then 4-5 staff members sat down at my table for a break and started talking shop! I obviously understand that the staff takes breaks, but do they really have to sit down at the same table as a customer? I was literally surrounded by staff while I was trying to work. I ended up leaving after I asked them if I was sitting at a staff or reserved table because I couldn't focus on my work.
