My family and I were really excited to try The Corner Deli, but it didn't live up to expectations. I spent over $75 on five sandwiches and only one, the Penguin, was actually good and made well. The rest were disappointing. The pastrami had very little meat, the Mother Clucker barely had chicken, and the others weren't enjoyable and unfortunately went to the trash. It also felt like there was no consistency. Depending on who made the sandwich, the quality and portion size really varied. I was also concerned about cleanliness. I saw an employee slicing and portioning deli meat without gloves, then touching receipts, boxes, and even themselves before going back to the food. There were gloves available, but none of the staff used them while preparing food. Anyone in the food industry knows ready to eat food should be handled with gloves, so that was very disappointing and honestly made me close to asking for a refund. Customer service was okay. I really enjoyed my sub and the portion was large enough that I had extra to finish later. They are located inside the wienershnitzel, which actually makes it kind of nice to be able to grab something off each menu if you have a larger party or just wanna mixtures of foods. Third time here and it just gets better and better. The first time I had a custom sandwich, second time I had the club and this time I had the Korean BBQ sandwich. I don't think you can order anything bad from this place. Their sides are fried in beef tallow and you can taste the difference. The inside is a little retro but I like it. My family & I loved eating at the Corner Deli back at their old location off Ontario Mills Drive & we were so excited to eat the Corner Deli again since they moved locations. The new location is located inside a Wienerschnitzel & you can tell that the sandwiches are made at a fast location because the sandwiches were made pretty sloppy. One of our sandwiches that usually has cheese INSIDE the sandwich, was made with the cheese thrown on top of the sandwich opening (exactly how Wienerschnitzel throws cheese on the opening of their chili cheese dogs). Our sweet potato fries tasted heavily like regular french fries which told us that they make their sweet potato fries in the same fryer & oil as their regular fries, not to mention it was the smallest portion of fries we had ever seen for what we paid for. The sandwiches were just inconsistent from the others, one of our hot sandwiches tasted like it had been sitting out because it was not hot at all. We can tell that this is completely new ownership & made like it comes from a fast food franchise which kind if sucks since Corner Deli was known for their sandwiches & made SO good.
