I came here a few times and it was hit or miss each time. I usually get the Turkey burger and it comes with endless salad, a side if pasta and a choice of a pitcher of alcohol, we choose Sangria which is always sweet but delicious. The turkey burger itself was usually pretty good, but sometimes too mildly seasoned. The atmosphere is low key, nautical but kind of like a bar or applebees etc, which is nice but it can get roudy since people often come with families or big groups and order pitchers of alcohol. The reason why I havn't been here in quite some time and am leaving only 3 stars is because the last time I came here, the food was just OK and the person I was with unfortunetely witnessed an employee who had poor hygiene. read more

Love this place. A nice local run seafood restaurant with great food and welcoming people. From the locals at the bar to the waiters and managers, everyone is very friendly and helpful. A big plus form me when I have 3 hungry kids that are acting up. I've had the roast beef galley which and the fried clams and both were great. My favorite thing about the Galley though is the vintage nautical decor. I always appreciate places that refuse to give up the heritage that makes Long Island great. Wonderful experience but if you have a gift certificate make sure you bring cash. Waiter gave my boyfriend and I a hard time because he thought the remaining balance did not reach a 10$ minimum. We had a $50 gift certificate, the remaining balance was $11.75 should have be able to use the remaining balance on card with tip. My boyfriend had to leave and go to the cash up the road. After a few mins someone who had a reservation who really didn't ( person was previously at the bar alone then asked for a table cause her friend was coming last minute) was waiting for the table. The manager made me get up I then said they should write the rules of any remaining balance on gift certificate that way costumer knows. Will not be returning such a stressful rude experience and I just wanted a calm low-key night out. read more

this was the first time I came to this restaurant. I was impressed by the service and the food. I had the ribeye steak, it was excellent, cooked perfectly. I started with the miller lite bear, l was surprised, when a small pitcher appear. I had the garden vegtable barley soup. the salad was included with the meal. I was able to subsitute cole slaw for the potato. I finished the meal with espresso and the white chocolate truffle. I did go over my weight watchers daiky points, it was worth it. our waiter was extremely helpful. they did not charge my sister-in-law for her soup when she mentioned that she did not like it that much. read more

I've been a regular customer for some time. Had dinner there tonight with friends. I downloaded their new app for the iphone. Unfortunately, after dinner, the app would not allow a visit to register, as a credit was given for downloading the app------- That is all well and good, but when I spoke to the owner, Gerry, he did not seem to care much---all he could say is "sorry"--Shame on him for letting a customer leave disappointed. There's a reason why most people post high ratings of corner galley. My girlfriend and I stopped in tonight after a wedding earlier and I haven't been here in a few years. They were as consistent as they were the last time I was here. My girlfriend LOVED it and the service was absolutely excellent, the waiter literally read our minds on when we wanted to-go boxes and the check... we didn't have to ask. But that's what i usually expected of corner galley. I've always received great service and great food and I HIGHLY recommend if you're thinking of trying it out, do it. You won't be disappointed. I've read some of the negative reviews of Corner Galley, which has prompted me to write my own review. Personally, I really like CG. Granted, the decor is dated and there's a lot of wood paneling. But the same thing can be said about many great Irish bars (check out McSorley's) - so beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Corner Galley has been a fixture in Massapequa for decades. It's a neighborhood gem that caters mostly to locals and still provides a good meal at a decent price. In a world where your local dining choices are mostly limited to cookie-cutter chain restaurants, it's nice to be able to relax with family or friends in a unique local establishment. The food is very good and the portions are generous. Meals include all you can eat salad and a free pitcher of beer or wine. Refills are a buck. They have excellent live entertainment on the weekends (usually a solo singer or a small band). Drinks at the bar are reasonably priced. The staff is friendly and welcoming. To all the naysayers... Relax. We know that CG isn't LeBernardin. It's not trying to be. It is what it is - a really good local restaurant that keeps its customers coming back year after year, decade after decade, with good food, good service and good value. read more

This place is a small neighborhood spot. It's got a menu with a lot of choices. Not only that, you get a free pitcher of Beer or Wine with your entree. You can't beat that! The service staff is always really nice and the atmosphere is casual. I'll say this place is consistent because it is. And perhaps the food may not be considered 'fine dining' and the atmosphere could use some cleaning up and some brightening - but I know what I'm going to get each and every time I go there and I know I'm going to enjoy it. :) There is a small lot in the back for parking but it's usually fills up so you'll have to resort to street parking. *shrugs* No big deal for me. This place is odd. Not odd in a bad way, just different. You walk in and you immediately feel like you have left New York and have been transported to Minnesota (or some other mid-western random place lol). There is not much in the way of decor or ambiance, but I must say this place was packed. It was over an hour wait, which is generally a really good sign of what is to come food wise. We finally sat down and on the table you will find all of your salad accoutrements (bacon bits (yay!), croutons, onions, various yummy dressings etc). Then they bring out the salad which is basically lettuce and cucumbers but was suprisingly good once the toppings and dressing were added on. For an app we got hot wings which were delicious and totally unexpected! For dinner everyone at my table got some variation of a burger. I got a cheese burger. It was good. The fries were good as well. **However, the best part about this restaurant has to be the pitcher of either beer, wine, sangria or soda that comes with your meal!!** We had about 10 pitchers of various things on the table I was feeling pretty great by the end of the meal! The owners and the staff at the galley are always very polite and welcoming. Another thing me and my family love about this place is they are clean and the deals they offer are outstanding. This is a small family restaurant with a typical menu of seafood and italian fare. I went here for the first time for Father's Day. It's a very nauticual themed place with a casual feel. They have a pretty big menu, mostly seafood and various cuts of beef. I wasn't feeling like eating red meat that night so I stuck with one of my favorite items... shrimp. They give a huge leafy green salad with dinner which was nice. And also my dad loves the Miller Light pitchers for $2. On some nights they have musicians playing which is nice. Last night there was a performer that definitely lightened up the place. As for the food: 2 stars. It wasn't bad or anything, but overall it kinda seemed bland. First time there. We got there and looked for parking. There is a dedicated lot in the rear, but it was full at 7pm. We walk in to over hear a 40 minute wait for a party of 4, but were seated right away for 2. All-u-can-eat salad and pitcher/carafe of beer/wine with every meal is amazing. White was fruity and easy to drink. Beer was Miller lite. Fountain drinks are free all night. apps around $8-$12, entree from $15-$25, remember it comes with salad and drinks Food was good and there was plenty. I could only eat half of my Salmon Wellington. We recently moved to the area and after an initial great experience here, had high hopes of making this one of our regular spots-- especially because they have a great deal going where you get a free pitcher of beer, wine or sangria with your entree. Came back with a group of six, excited to show our friends this wonderful gem we thought we found in our new neighborhood. We did arrive later than the dinner rush, but didn't think too much of it being that it was 9:00pm on a Saturday and their kitchen hours were listed until 11:00pm. During our visit, we were treated so disrespectfully, that any hope we had of making this our new watering hole completely shattered. For starters, we were rushed the entire time we were there. It was pretty obvious they wanted to leave early because at 10:00 (an hour before closing) they began to turn lights off in our section and cleared off all the tables around us. The busboy stood over our table like a hawk to see what he could clear away and our waitress muttered under her breath constantly while at the table, saying things like, "This is a nightmare!" and then turning around and giving us the fakest smile. A couple of the burgers were not cooked as ordered, but we felt so uncomfortable that nobody dared send anything back. The worst was when we received our check. With everyone having had their own pitcher of beer, we were a little tipsy. We assumed our server would ask if we wanted separate checks, or even if we were ready for our bill, but she just slammed it on the table and then threw a tantrum when we offered her multiple cards. She even had the audacity to show us where to sign on each credit slip, like we were children, in the most patronizing and condescending tone I've ever heard. And then the icing on the cake? As we were walking out at 10:30, well before their closing time on a Saturday night, the manager (or owner, for all I know) said "next time, chew a little slower!" I was so embarrassed I even talked this place up to our friends, let alone brought them there. Two stars because the wings were decent and the booze is cheap. You're better off going to any other bar in the area though if you want bar food. The service, on the other hand, is abysmal and doesn't even deserve a star. read more

We wanted to like this place. The waitress was amazingly nice. Very helpful. The atmosphere was very relaxing. Then the food came. I ordered the French onion soup. That was delicious. My wife ordered the crab cakes. Half of one cake was fine but the other half was cold. The second crab cake was cold to the touch - it had to be sent back. We both ordered the broiled seafood platter. The food had no flavor at all. The scallops tasted the same as the fish. The stuffed clams just didn't taste right. I left feeling like I got a dinner that was less than acceptable. The waitress felt bad that we weren't happy with the food but it wasn't her fault. The cause of the tables being cramped was not due to them being shuffled around.....the cause was there are too many tables in the area where we were seated - This was confirmed by your staff, they actually complained they couldn't reach the table. We went to the corner galley yesterday with a large group (around thirty people). We had a reservation. The service was poor, at best. The lunch menu for a large group was ridiculous. It had three items on it; Shrimp scampi, London broil, and chicken parmesan. With the above, you could get either steak fries or linguine with sauce. I had the scampi, and pasta. The shrimp was severely overcooked, pasta the same and I think the tomato sauce was burnt. My wife had the shrimp and agreed with my assessment. My son had the chicken parm and didn't like it. A friend had the London broil and didn't like it. With this, of course you got salad, coffee or tea and ice cream for dessert. All for the lovely price of $24.95. We used to go to the galley often, but I would not recommend you do the lunch with a large group. read more

Although the prices have creeped up over the years, and what hasn't, you still can't beat the price for salad, entree and a carafe of wine! The decor is old and dreary, but that's what I'm looking for in a neighborhood joint when I want a vast menu, affordable seafood and FREE beer. That's right, but a lunch, get a beer. I am absolutely convinced that all the regulars in this place are not actually human, but some sort of sub-species that have had their taste buds stripped from them. Because, I have no clue how anyone can come back to this place, let alone regularly. Yes, the food is *that* bad. I ordered fish and chips, and somehow didn't receive the chips. It's in the freaking name of the dish! How do you get that wrong?! The service was abysmal. The waiter was rude from the moment we walked in. And, he somehow neglected to inform us about the pitcher of beer/wine you receive with your entree. After having to ask (which felt like grudgingly prying the offer out of his hands), he brought us some cheap, plastic tasting sangria which had a measly 2 cherries, and a sliver of orange. I ran a 5 star Italian restaurant in New Hyde Park for 5 years, so I know how to make good Calamari and good Marinara sauce. This restaurant does not. Avoid this place and their owner who would rather respond like an ass instead of improve upon his restaurants' very sub-par food. Original: My Girlfriend and I are one and done at this restaurant. When we got in, it was packed on a Friday at 7pm, which was a good sign. The food itself was not good. Our fried calamari had zero taste and was fried with oil that definitely needed to be replaced way before our batch of calamari. The marinara sauce for the calamari was horrible and straight out of a cheap supermarket sauce jar. My baked potato had insanely hard skin that I couldn't chew, and my salmon burger had barely any taste as well. My girlfriend said that the chili was okay, so at least she was content with that part of her dinner. Overall, it was a wasted dinner night out. read more
