I've come here for pedicures a few times and always have a great experience. They're usually able to fit me in without much of a wait, and the service is consistently good. The salon itself isn't anything over the top, but they do a great job and the staff is always friendly. The location is also a plus since it's in a nice area with plenty of restaurants nearby, which makes it easy to grab a bite before or after your appointment. They take time to make sure that you like the colors and shape and always help me decide what will look best. I just moved to North Park at the end of July, and Corner Nails is literally around the corner from me! I got a dip powder manicure and spa pedicure--both turned out amazing! The service was perfect and the vibe is so welcoming! Everyone is so sweet, and made sure that I liked what they were doing at every step (e.g. dip powder/nail polish color, nail shape, etc.). I have become a regular at this nail salon and I cannot believe that it's taken me this long to write a review. It's just around the corner from my apartment (hehe perfect name for this salon in my opinion) and I walk here. I recommend also walking here since there is only street parking available around the residential areas. All of the nail techs are friendly and knowledgeable in what they do. Their pricing is fair, and even cheaper than nearby nail salons. They now recognize me whenever I go and always come up to say hi, which I always appreciate because it shows great customer service. Also, I almost fainted once while having my nails done (my blood pressure isn't the best) and they took very good care of me, even feeding me candy to make me feel better lol. I had a very bad experience here yesterday. My friend and I came in for pedicures. They had us both get in the chair, started her pedicure and then didn't start working on mine for more than 30 minutes. The water was freezing and I had to ask them to warm it up because I was waiting so long. I had originally asked for a deluxe pedicure but then since I didn't want my friend to wait for me to finish I just did a basic with callus removal. When she "removed my calluses" she cut up my skin so bad there is a huge, bleeding gash. This morning it is a deep, weepy blister and very painful!! Corner Nails is my new go-to nail salon in San Diego. Everyone is SO friendly and attentive. I couldn't help but to notice the constant in and out of their regular clients, all of whom had the nicest nails. The salon is small and humble, but impeccably clean. The prices are the best you can find near North Park / University Heights, and they accept Cash, Venmo, Zelle and even credit cards (though with an additional fee. I got a gel manicure for $40, and regular pedicure for $29. You can choose a multitude of colors from DND and OPI. Will definitely be back for my next nail job! read more

Really wanted to like this place as it's so close, they have a wide selection of colors and do basically everything. First couple of months went well, but they switch out their personnel so much it's a toss up. Eventually, I got a gal who kept filing my nail a weird way (it grows crooked) so I asked her to just leave it so it could grow out (NOTE: was really trying not to be a Karen so I asked her politely to stop 3 times then eventually put another finger there so she wouldn't file it). She kept trying until another woman realized it and finished my nail instead. I was really excited I got a tech who understood, and called to make an appointment with her the next month. Well, I got in there and I heard her say (in a really thick accent, I guess hoping I wouldn't hear?) that I'm "the girl who complained" to another tech. I pretended not to hear it and smiled through the mani pedi, tipped fine. Well, now my toe nail is split from the bed inwards and I have no idea how it's going to grow out. There's also a HUGE dip where the nail polish starts, so I def feel like it was from whatever that lady did. I really really wanted to like this place, but the staff is pretty rude, doesn't listen to customer requests, and doesn't seem like they really know what they're doing except for a couple of people. They are some nice sweet ladies. It's my second time going here. But today I left unhappy But $73 for a common design they should atleast be good at ? .... I understand acrylics are 50+ and I don't mind paying but this is ridiculous. I've gone to both nail techs and salons I know what to expect at the salons therefore I ask for simple stuff all the time. French tip .. I asked for thin deep French tip. Told her twice. She fixed 3 of my fingers twice. But I saw her struggling. I got frustrated myself seeing how she wasn't listening. And I have never I left with the bottoms of my nails looking like this before until today. If you're gonna charge me $70 I better get 70 worth of work well done. I rather take a "I can't do this design " then get charged that much for them to look exactly how I didn't want them to look. I try to give salons business bc sometimes yea it is convenient for me but I learned my lesson and I will go back to my at home nails techs. They always take such good care of me and the leg massages after my pedicure in a massage chair while getting my manicure is much needed break in life. I love how warm and welcoming they always are. They had such a steady flow and regulars they greet all day. It may not be the most expensive updated but the staff are extremely nice and do everything to make each guest like royalty. First time at this salon- I'm glad I called before going because they mentioned it would be about an hour wait so I went in a little later. I was greeted by the staff and was able to get seated right away. Thi was the one who did my pedicure. She was gentle and took her time to make sure everything looked great. It was a bit warm in the salon but it was also a hotter day. Not sure if they run AC during summer but would highly recommend to bring a handheld fan just in case. From far away they look nice but up close I can't help but notice the imperfections. 45$ for a pedicure but the coats are not even. 55$ for builder gel, but I wish a softer drill was used to clean the cuticle area, I got cut a few times. Also glue on tips were used instead of paper nail forms like I was hoping. And with this price range at other salons I'm used to being offered refreshments, but I was not. I found this place on Yelp as it's only 2 minutes from me. I was honestly disappointed in my nails. Though I was greeted immediately and helped, the staff seemed very pushy for people to stay and they rushed my nails to get to the next person. If you look closely, my cuticles look terrible and the shape of my nails are all different. You can also see the layers of polish. I didn't have the patience to sit and have her redo them, but definitely am not pleased with my nails. Will be going back to my original place in Hillcrest. read more
