Well, two points make a straight line. 3 weeks ago my buddy and I both ordered a cuban sandwich at corner pocket. Anyone who has ever had a good cuban sandwich or heck, even a mediocre cuban sandwich, can tell you that a cuban sandwich usually has pork and ham and often, mustard. But the cuban we got had no ham. It was just some finely pulled and apparently chopped pork on a bread Not a cuban, an ok tasting sandwich but not a cuban. Thank God the bread was fresh. Yesterday while visiting this venerable bar and grill, my buddy I decided to veer away from the cuban and just order chicken wings. Like, you know Americana. The chicken wings came cooked crispy just like I like em but lo and behold they appeared to be cooked without salt. Chicken without salt is just plain boring. My buddy, trying to find a silver lining, said, well the hot sauce has salt in it. And so it was. I scarfed down the saltless chicken wings, hoping it would be over soon. I hate to waste money. If I could post a picture of taste, Id post a picture of no taste. Despite a drop dead gorgeous waitress, I don't believe I will go back to this place anytime soon except to maybe drink a beer. The service was slow. Our waitress probably showed up an hour and a half to see if we wanted another better. The ambiance was great. Service sucked. Our waitress came outside like 7 times and acknowledged us the 2 and 7th if we wanted another drink, poor poor service. The food was delicious, but we asked another waitress when our food woukd be ready (it was an hour and twenty and we still didn't get it yet). They said that my friends burgers were almost ready but our waitress came out and said we were out of Burgers. They got him chicken tenders but she could have been more diligent. The last time we went to Corner Pocket, it took us nearly 30 minutes for us to be seen by a waitress, the food was terribly cold or undercooked, and was a massive disappointment. Corner Pocket used to be absolutely fantastic, and this was a major disappointment as it has very apparently gone downhill. My wife ordered the chicken bites and they forgot to bread the chicken. Im sad to even have to write this, Corner Pocket has always been a great local spot for cold drinks and good food. Went to meet my fiancé and his friends for a drink and food. They had all already eaten when I showed up. They tried waving our server down (I knew what I wanted to order so we wouldn't be waiting very long), and she never showed up. It took is 10 minutes to get her attention. I got my drink rather quickly, but it took my food almost 45 minutes to show up (they weren't even busy). I finally get my food from another server (she was very sweet) and just as we had suspected it was cold. She asked if I wanted it remade (I LOVE the Gator tail there) and I declined only because I didnt want to wait an extra 20 minutes. My fiancé asked the bartender about my food and the reposnse was just rude. He told my fiance "it'll be ready when it's ready" this was after waiting 25 minutes (and watching pur server go in and out of the kitchen). Needless to say, it was a really bad experience and we won't be going back, which makes me sad, because this place is usually always on point. read more

Corner pocket, I feel is so underrated. They have really good food for a Bar and their kitchen stays open late. I've always been met with friendly service and my friends love to use the machine and pick their own music to play. I've had the mozzarella sticks, a burger, curly fries, drinks shots and never have had a complaint. read more

Corner Pocket is a fantastic dive bar on the east side of Tallahassee. It's been around forever so yeah might not be the fanciest place you've ever seen but it has character. The drinks are strong, the prices are low, live music, sports, and the servers are cool. It can get very busy and I'm always impressed how the service keeps it together. Sundays are fun for football. You can sit inside and watch every game or outside if you want less noise. There's no smoking in CP and plenty of dart boards/pool tables if that's your thing. Beer selection is decent - mostly domestic but a few decent craft beers. Liquor drinks are strong and usually a double...I don't think they believe in singles. Last but not least, you wouldn't think to go to Corner Pocket for food but they have some of the best burgers and bar food in town. The only place I can get legit cheese curds in Tallahassee. The wings are also some of the best in town. My favorite thing about Corner Pocket and it's bar below (7th Hill Taproom) is the people and that we usually meet someone new! read more

Walked in and it metal music was playing, a wall of TVs had the draft on, a dart league was happening and on the other side people were playing pool. It was dim and divey and people were having a great time. Sat myself and was approached quickly. " What are you drinking?" Big Domestic Draft $3.75 for happy hour. Food menu was bar food, burgers, wings, sandwiches, seafood and fried everything. A Jalapeño Cheddar burger with Tots will do. 2 beers and the meal under $20. Best burger I've had in a long time. Corner Pocket is a great place to go for live music, strong drinks, tasty bar food, and an atmosphere that varies every week. My husband said, "you can go there and no one cares what you look like." This sentiment is true because you can go dressed formally or like a bum and enjoy the large TV's with the current sports events being projected and live music being played on weekends. I have been coming to the Corner Pocket for many years. To me, Corner Pocket is one of the most laid back places to grab drinks and bar food, and usually to catch a good cover band like Public Address. There are some dart boards, a pool table, a poker table and a jukebox for some evening entertainment. The cocktails here are reasonably priced and they do not skimp on the liquor. So I was in Tallahassee for a day on business. I stumbled upon this joint as it was within walking distance of my hotel and I was on the lookout for a place to grab a few drinks and a bite. So, the reviews are a little all over. Here is my takeaway. This hole is a solid 3 stars, no more, no less. A few different beers on the tap. They had $5 pitchers so I had one of those. Burger was decent. Staff was friendly and attentive. This place looks to be packed with regulars. From what I can tell, all the staff knew most of the patrons by name and vice versa. Music was loud and all over the map. Some small TV's were placed throughout showing a variety of things from the news to the baseball game. Great bar atmosphere - right out of an 80's movie (sans protective band-cage). Pool tables moved aside when live acts entertain. Generous pours and reasonably priced cocktails. Bartender certainly knew his drinks and wasn't stumped by a single order - and we dropped some obscure orders over the evening. As with virtually all TLH bars ('cept Leon pub), smoking is prohibited indoors. Update: They still do a cover Friday evenings, which is off-putting when you just wanna eat and leave, but it just motivates me to go earlier during happy hour to avoid the cover, so they're just costing their own money on that regard because I end up spending significantly less on drinks so it really only helps me in the end lol I really love the food and atmosphere so that's why we keep coming back. Burgers are awesome, amazing ranch. Food is truly top notch. Service is typically friendly and slightly slow, usually because they seem understaffed for the busy-level. Servers all sharp and friendly though so it's not on them. ---- I can tell management does not look at these since they've not responeded to anyone in years, but worth a shot, since I love the food and really want to love the place: They've starting charging a cover to enter on Fridays, even if there's not music or anything going yet, which is odd. Paid an extra 5 dollars each to eat and sit at a restaurant we always eat and sit at......like at least once a week since we've lived up here. Very odd to charge regulars an entry fee to just come in, simply because of the day of the week. We even waited an extra half hour after finishing our food & drinks to see if music would crank up, but the band hadn't even arrived yet, let alone started sound-checking. Cover is for full entertainment happening + awesome drink specials. If happy hour is over, you shouldn't just charge people 5 dollars to come in and pay normal drink prices and look at an empty stage. The food is still very good, but we'll likely visit far less if there's a consistent cover every Friday night. Noticed they are more understaffed the past couple times we've gone resulting in slow service. Which is fine if you're sitting and drinking all night, but not really for a normal dinner. If they keep the cover, we'll just go across the street to Casa Grande with B-O-G-O Margaritas every Friday night. Sad because we love this place and go here a lot. The food is still very good, so try it for lunchtime maybe or a weeknight with no cover. As the name may suggest, this is a dive bar complete with several pool tables, dart boards, and massive TVs showing pretty much any game known to man. It's exactly as you'd imagine it, a bit seedy, no frills, but just want you want for a chill night with friends. We ended up here after two nights of very heavy drinking, just trying to relax and have a beer. The bouncer ID'ed us at the door (I still can't get used to that in the US despite living there for 10 years) and put some bracelets on us. Apparently a number of underage kids go there as the bartender interrogated me when i ordered a pitcher of beer ($8.50 for a massive pitcher of Yuengling - about 4-5 pints) and 3 glasses - he wanted to know who the glasses were for and almost didn't let me leave with it. After that, you are pretty much left to your own devices although I would recommend bringing a few whiteboard markers if you want to play darts. The markers they have are terrible and most regulars bring their own. Overall, it's cheap and cheerful with plenty of space for groups, so not a bad idea all around. Recently expanded, Corner Pocket has definitely been one of my staples in going out in Tallahassee. There aren't many places that offer shuffleboard, darts, pool, and poker (real, no video), and, on top of all that, the inside is non-smoking! The non-smoking point is a big one around here where many bars quickly get to the point where you don't need "beer goggles" because the person next to you is already obscured by a prominent smoke-screen. There IS an ample "patio" area for all the smokers to hang out, so if you partake you will not be excluded. Another great thing about Corner Pocket is that it is not close to campus and thus does not get overrun by all the little undergrads. It is mostly locals (and thus a little older crowd) and always and interesting mix of characters. Especially with the new expansion, Corner Pocket will remain one of my main night time hangouts. read more

Went here Friday with some friends and again on Saturday to watch the FSU football game and had a great time at Corner Pocket! The Happy Hour specials were very good on Friday. I really like this place because the crowd is older so you don't have to deal with college students and the like. The food is actually pretty good for bar food compared to many other bars in Tallahassee. The wings were very good and so were the fried pickles. I've heard that the burgers and sandwiches are all excellent as well from friends. I also got to meet the owner, Bill. He is a very nice guy and will take the time out to sit with you and ask how you are doing. On Saturday, I watched him accommodate everyone in the bar (including Hurricane and Bama fans) to get their games on a TV in the bar so they could watch the game even while the FSU game was going on. Used to be the best bar in tallahassee. Last 3 Friday's in a row it was terrible, just terrible service. Arrived approximately 6pm three Friday's in a row, not too crowded, but new servers that I've never seen. Took 15 mins between beers. I mean literally empty beer glass for 15 mins. The wait staff is SUPER friendly and efficient. The drink specials are unbeatable and surprisingly the food is VERY good. They have a variety of things to do (darts, pool, poker,tons of tvs), so there is a little something for everyone.
