I worked for this place for about a year, and I felt like a part of the family. My boyfriend and I went out to dinner tonight 7-24-20 and I was so excited to order dinner! This is a great place (tasty food, good wines and mixed drinks, atmosphere, decor) .... BUT it is also a disappointing place (A "Russian roulette" of food where crispy fries on one night are suddenly soggy and floppy the next, perfectly seasoned and cooked meat one night can be over/under cooked on another visit, a sudden heavy hand with salt or over cooked fish pops up after many perfect meals, etc). It is the inconsistency of food (staff and owners are great- always) that ultimately turned this neighborhood favorite for our family into a seldom consideration. Basically, we just can't trust it anymore. Anyway, we've had some great meals and fun times at the Corner Stop. Special occasions were made better .... definitely give them a try. Great local establishment with a friendly front end staff. Solid American fair with a culinary twist that will leave you craving more. Great bar with a few TVs and a fantastic craft beer selection with a rotating tap of all the top pours out there. Hidden Gem on the South Shore!!! Just hosted my daughter's baby shower at The Corner Stop for 25. The food was delicious, people are still raving about it, service - exceptional (thank you Liz) and atmosphere - the private room was so bright and cheery, we did a Winter Wonderland theme and the room was a perfect fit (see pics). If you are looking to host a shower, engagement party, family get together or office party look no further, you will not be disappointed! Will be going back for lunch or dinner for sure and rumor has it they maybe adding a brunch after the 1st of the year, I hope so! read more

Sooooooooooooo great!!!!!!! Driven past 1000 times, finally stopped in and we all loved it. High end food, cooked perfectly. Great restaurant and bar, can't wait to go back ASAP. The tuna tartare was perfect, blacker swordfish cooked to perfection and salad was fresh and crisp. Local hints: they sell fireworks in the basement, just slip a $20 to the host, wink and ask for cold tea. Love the ambience, the appetizers, and the beer and drink selection! I come here a lot for drinks and apps, but last year I came for Easter brunch with my mom and husband and we all loved it! The owner is very nice. I organize a lot of work events here and he is super flexible and responsive. My favorite spots to sit are by the bar or the fireplace. When we moved to the south shore area, we were looking for a nice restaurant with a good bar, friendly staff and great food. The Corner Stop is the place! It has become our local "Cheers". We usually sit at the bar and enjoy good conversation with the friendly bartenders, drink their yummy drinks, and have some of their wonderful food. I've been to Corner Stop eatery a few times. The first time back in February I was impressed with the monkfish and the beet salad. As time went on, I felt like the quality went with it. It seems meat comes out undercooked a lot, and you wait a long time. At one point I had strawberry shortcake for dessert and I needed a knife to cut through it. The menu lacks continuity and a theme and it seems that the kitchen is always out of something. I do feel that it has potential, and could be excellent if proper care went in to it. The service is always a little slow, but very friendly. Though the last time I went in I sat at the bar, and was pretty sure the bartender was drunk. I don't think I'll be back after my last couple experiences. read more

I live nearby so I'm here fairly often. First off, the bar! It's outright gorgeous. The drink menu is excellent, changes seasonally, with artisan cocktails made fresh. Bartenders are friendly and quick. The menu is a bit eclectic, leaning more towards lighter fare suited to the bar, but there's something for everyone. I enjoy the oysters, flatbreads, and salads. Prices are mid-range for Cohasset with apps approx $8-12, entrees $16-29 and drinks mostly under $10/ea. Service is attentive but can get a bit sluggish on busy nights. Let's start with the decor. This place is absolutely gorgeous. Walking it felt like such an experience and that's what eating out should be. You don't just go out to eat, you go out for the experience. A group of is split the corn bread, wings, calamari, and cauliflower pizza. All amazing, great flavors! Great drink list! I got the quinoa burger. Was one the best sandwich/burgers I've ever had. The others got the burgers and fish sandwich. Every plate was nearly licked clean. I am shocked at seeing less than fantastic reviews of Corner Stop on Yelp!... My wife and I have nothing but gratitude and smiles when it comes to the restaurant! While we're easy walking distance to historic downtown restaurants, we happily drive to Corner Stop. Not only has it always been great food and experiences for us, but the prices are beyond reasonable, and it's reliable! The latter is hard to find these days! To top it off, we had our daughters 1st birthday at Corner two weeks ago and it was amazing!! Had the front room to ourselves, and it went off great! Not only a big thanks to management to setting it up, to the kitchen for the great food, but a special big thanks to the the two girls working the event who not only made great impressions on those new to CS, but also managed the kiddies better than most day cares we've seen! The Corner Stop is one of our local favorite restaurants. The couple that owns it, Rudy and Ron Vale, as well as the head chef, Sam Cabral have created a perfect place to bring the entire family for a delicious meal. The decor has a Nantucket vibe combined with a sports bar. The food is very good with a number of not so healthy comfort food (steak burgers) to healthy salad options (Hippy Dippy). I especially like the kids menu, a clipboard where they can choose items like veggies and fruit to supplement the ubiquitous cheese pizza. The wine and beer selection is limited but well chosen. I have liked everything off of them familiar or not. Cocktails are imaginative and well balanced. The kitchen and servers can become overwhelmed at busy times. When the owners are not around I have noticed a decline in quality of service and/or food. This is too bad as everyone needs time off. I enjoy this place and can overlook the hiccups. Drove from Foxboro to Corner Stop to purchase a piece of restaurant equipment from the owner Ron. Beautiful area and even more beautiful restaurant. Owner and chef were very friendly and seemed like great guys. Decided to have a quick lunch while I was there and the Nicoise Salad with seared tuna was incredible. The wing appetizer was even more incredible! While I was eating my lunch, the chef (Sam) noticed my jeep had a flat tire and handed me two cans of "fix a flat"! VERY disappointed! We took my parents here this Saturday night and left very unhappy. The food was about as unsatisfactory as it gets. The portions here are PATHETIC!! I literally left there ($140 later) and went to get dinner. For apps we had the empanadas (greasy and flavorless) and wings (like drinking soy sauce). Entrees we had Flank steak (undercooked although I ordered medium, tough, and covered in salt), Pork Chop (thin very heavily breaded and greasy), Chicken (flavorless and soupy), and Swordfish (flavorless). As I mentioned, the portions are incredibly small...fine-dining or not this was ridiculous. I ordered veggies for a side and got a few leafs of dry spinach...common! It's time a write the rave review I've been wanting to after every visit to the Corner Stop. My husband and I have been going for a few years now and not once has there been an "off" meal. Last night may have been my favorite with the duck and blackberry balsamic sauce, the heirloom tomatoes and crab cakes. The flourless chocolate cake is hands down the best on the dessert menu. Their delicious cocktails change on a seasonal basis. Not much else changes on the menu but it doesn't need to. The experience and ambiance is an added bonus. A big change from the previous place that occupied the spot for decades. The menu is creative and contemporary -- with some slightly-too-creative names that are a bit cutesy or randomly drop letters, but you can generally follow what it is. My wife complained her fish sandwich ("Fish Sando") was "too hot" but it had Sriracha in the desc, so we both agreed that was on her. We also agreed we both loved the "Ahi Crisps" tuna app. Highly recommend the place for a fun atmosphere with great food and very reasonable prices. read more

Oh no I'm sad to write this ... I must retract my initial review because my experiences of recent are showing that the corner stop is really going down hill ... my boyfriend and I went in last night for dinner with my 2 year old daughter. We got some oysters. The oysters literally took 15-20 minutes to arrive at the table. The waitress had come over and apologized for the wait and I was just curious what the hold up was ? Were they fishing them out of the bay out back ? No ... but apparently they have a hard time shucking them !!! That was obvious when the oysters were finally delivered. Not properly shucked at all ... messy and nothing special at 3$ a piece. The menu seems boring. They change it up there a lot seasonally and nothing was super eye catching so I went with the Bolognese. This item is I believe the only thing they keep on the menu year round. I had ordered this during a previous time dining at the bar and it was delicious I remember the portion size being small and literally clearing the plate. This time the meal was very different. It was a huge portion however the flavor was not at all what I had the last time. It was super bland. The meat in the sauce was dry and over cooked. My boyfriend ordered the pork chop. The pork chop was extremely small and boring. The size of the pork chop and the cut were really pathetic for the price. Also it was lacking flavor. My daughter got the kids cheese pizza it was on a super thin crust and was probably the best tasting thing on the table at a whopping 7$ ! We ate more of that then anything else. The drinks were good the west corner is always my go to. That is the only thing consistent at this place. We will not be returning in the future it's way over priced and the quality we previously enjoyed has diminished. read more

Went with another family so we were a group of 9 people. We were able to sample a ton of different things. Started off with everything from amazing Asian chicken wings, heirloom tomatoes, pizza, and the best oysters with a cucumber mignonette sauce. All apps were great!!!!! So delicious and cooked perfectly. Dinner was equally great. Linguini with clam sauce was perfect. Pasta Bolognese was the best I've ever had. Kids all got burgers which they "loved!" The decor outside and inside is exceptional. I feel like I'm eating in my own dining room, but a much larger version. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm, the waitstaff are excellent. I read a few of the previous reviews, and I wonder if those who mention Dinero's realize that this is certainly not supposed to mirror the former restaurant. I've dined here multiple times and have had exceptional experiences every time. The wine list is a great compliment to seafood or heartier options such as the short rib entree -- excellent. And the prices for cocktails are very reasonable. I love that many of the ingredients are local. The shrimp and grits appetizer was phenomenal. And the mussels have been divine both times I have tried them. I enjoy the take on bread, served with an edamame hummus, which does not fill you up and it should not -- it is complimentary bread, not the meal I'm ordering. Another appetizer I enjoy is the empanadas as an appetizer served with a horseradish creme = phenomenal also. I love the duck confit flatbread. The scallops I ate last night were cooked perfectly - seared with a light brown outside and soft & juicy on the inside. Overall, I think this place is an awesome environment with great food that you can't find anywhere else. If you're looking for a Dinero's II, you'll be in for a surprise. If you want to have dinner at a place where they make you feel unwelcome and insignificant - this is the place. I love the atmosphere here. The craft cocktails are always amazing. Gotta love a place that uses fresh squeezed juices. My favorite item on the menu used to be the quinoa burger or the hippy dippy salad with the quinoa patty on top. It was a unique delicious vegetarian option. However, it has been changed and now has mushrooms in it. It was so nice to find a restaurant that had a mushroom free vegetarian option on their menu. I hope they change it back. Have to admit, this used to be one of our favorite spots during the summer. Always loved their burgers! Went last night for the first time this summer. Our waitress was wonderful! Food - just ok. She has to begin with what they didn't have - no bread or delicious spread, all out. No tuna which cancelled out an appetizer and main course. I got the lamb burger and Hubbie and son got the burger. Food was ok but the size was much smaller than last year. So while price was the same, portions noticeably smaller. Hubbie thought the burger not as tasty as before. Two stars due to them trying their best at the restaurant, but really it should just be one star. The staff was very off putting when we first walked in, saying they had many reservations coming in (no biggie we can always go somewhere else I know it's odd times we are in) Ended up getting sat, ordered drinks and Brussel sprouts - delicious. The restaurant lost power right after our first bite of our app and while I'm fully aware this isn't the restaurants fault, we had food that should have been done shortly so felt bad leaving. Ordered short rib which was very bland but the mashed potatoes were great. We ate the rest of our app and our entire dinner in the dark, no complaints but hoped for some compensation. Wanted a nice dinner out but ended up sitting in the dark eating dinner instead. read more

This is the place as you are heading through Hingham down to Hull and just before you get to Hull it is somehow located in Cohasset. . . . O.k.? Well we stopped in and I have to say the bar is pretty nice. Big, airy with a seemingly happy barstaff that seem to be very accommodating. Drinks - very good. good pours, good mixed drinks and beer selection. A pilsner and a Pretty Things rather than your standard IPA, IPA, IPA, Sam Adams, Bud Lite. Food it seems to be geared a bit more for the appetizers and bar finger food. Yeah, I know they have entree features but they don't seem to be as strong of offerings as the apps. I think the chef thinks they have 'fine food' but seeing it and eating it I just didn't get that vibe. Steak over a Hippy dippy salad, a roasted chicken that was dry to the point of embarrassment and a flat bread which was good. The bigger point was the 'dining room' being low ceiling and a bit dark...almost awkward. A table in the bar is ten times the find. Sitting there the dining room seemed like they should just accept the space for what it is and tear it up and but a nice back bar in the space and make it high top tables and bar food service...like a little Irish Snug. I'm sure $ per square foot would be through the roof and patrons would gravitate toward it rather that accept it as 'over flow' seating from the beautiful bar area.
