If you like authentic Thai food and generous portions all at a good price than you'll love Corner Thai Cafe. If you prefer super fast service, Corner Thai Cafe won't be your favorite place to sit down and eat. If this is the case, I definitely recommend getting take out. Honestly the waitstaff is very friendly, they just don't take things very fast. It's not necessarily a bad thing. They offer takeout for people in a rush. It's a very relaxed atmosphere and it can be refreshing if you don't have anywhere to be. I always get the Pat Thai with chicken... Not spicy. It's definitely the best pad Thai I've had in Rhode Island. Their crab cheese is also delicious. You can tell that they're fresh. I'm not sure how to say "perfection" in Thai, but it looks like I'm going to have to learn very soon. I had a late lunch at Corner Thai Cafe today and I consider my meal some of the best Thai food I have ever eaten. I wandered in soaking wet, cold and covered with sand. I had been down at Ninigret in 30 MPH winds, driving rain and dense fog taking a 1 hour walk. Needless to say, I was cold, tired and hungry. I really was looking for coffee, but I spotted Corner Thai when I pulled into the plaza. I looked through the windows - no diners, but a very pleasant looking woman seated at a table. So I went in. Only about 8-9 tables. I think each table seats four. I ordered an appetizer - grilled calamari. I've been on this calamari kick lately (twice in the last two weeks). This dish was different - don't expect Italian style, but what the hey, it's a Thai restaurant. I really liked this dish...a little spicy but absolutely necessary on a very cold day. Next came the curry - Gang Panang. Nice portion, excellent flavor. You get a choice of meats and I chose chicken. Added a little of the curry to my rice bowl. I could have eaten just this alone. Not to neglect the kid at home, I ordered a Fiery Pat Thai and took it to go. And did he eat it? Yes he did, and he begged for more. I enjoyed speaking to my waitress. Great person, but leaving soon for a warmer climate (C'mon, what's wrong with Rhode Island in the winter?) Hopefully, I will see her again (I know you are reading this! - Safe travels). Wow, a hidden gem inside a plaza tucked in the back right corner. I was greeted by the owner Siew and knew I was gonna have a great dining experience. After a round of golf, I was craving a Thai Ice Tea. It definitely quenched my thirst. Not overly sweet like other places. I wanted a nice Tom Yum shrimp soup and boy was I surprised that it came with 2 big shrimp and the depth of flavors you can tell was made with LOVE. I was recommended to try the Pad Ga which is a stir fry ( I got the combo) enhanced with Thai basil and various vegetables and topped off with a fried egg. First off, the place is small and can not accommodate groups larger than four. My group of five had to add a chair at the end of a small four person table. The service was slow and not that great. Our menus where tossed on to the table and we only received three menus for the five of us. Now lets get to the Thai food, if you want to call it that. Great prices and great food. I ordered the chicken pineapple fried rice and it was great. However, it took our server literally 25 minutes to even acknowledge our existence, fortunately it's BYOB and I could enjoy a tasty beer, can't say the same for those in our party that had wine. The server was fine but did not attempt an explanation or apology for the wait. They did comp us our app after we asked which was fine but it should have been offered. Great Thai. The owner is very nice, and the food was delicious. I ordered take out, but the small restaurant was decorated nicely, and has seating for about 24 people. 6 tables in all. Anytime I order from a new Thai restaurant, I get the Pad Thai. This is my baseline. I wa not disappointed. It was as expected, and the peanut taste was perfect. I also had a Thai Iced Tea which I found to be refreshing. I was surprised to find a small cup of soup with my lunch order. Great things to say about this place. It's tucked away in a small Plaza (in the corner, makes sense because this restaurant is aptly named Corner Thai Cafe). Got here 10 min early on a Sunday. Lady noticed me outside and let me in since it was cold and rainy outside. The food was awesome. Had the Tom yum soup and the drunken noodles. Of course had the Thai tea too. Great place to eat. This was our 2nd occasion for take-away from Corner Thai. My spouse had the corner salad which was good but needs to be consumed without reheating due to some ingredients being lightly fried. I had the duck which was spiced correctly and very good. Normally I am a 4-4.5 out of 5 on spice. The duck was about 3.5, perfect for this entree. This was my first visit to Corner Thai Cafe but it most definitely won't be my last!!! I brought my 11-year-old son for his first taste of Thai and he's hooked! We started with a couple appetizers, one of which was their Kanom Jeep. DE-LIC-IOUS!!! My son had the HUGE bowl of wonton soup and side order of steamed rice noodles. The soup was light, fresh and flavorful! I had the drunken noodles (which I'd never had before) and it was spicy and tasty! I can't wait to go back and try some more of their wonderful food. We stumbled on this cafe while taking a walk. Tai tai, the owner was very nice and she served us a delicious lunch of Tom yum soup, spring rolls and a Masamam curry. We also had some great Vietnamese coffee We will definitely be back and recommend it to others. read more

We found this cafe from its excellent reviews on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I'm so glad we did! My family of four went to lunch during a visit to Westerly. My husband and I ordered the Drunken Noodles and the Pineapple Fried Rice based on prior reviews. We intended to split each dish. As we started the meal, we were both so impressed with our food that we were reluctant to exchange. But we did, and were even more impressed! There was no kids menu, but we ordered a couple non-spicy appetizers for the 6-year-old and 9-year-old. My picky 6-year-old practically inhaled the Sate (grilled chicken with a peanut dipping sauce). Came here for a quick stop while visiting Misquamicut beach. Got the sate and the Ga Prow. Not sure if they were unusually busy, service is kind of slow. The sate was ok, felt the peanut sauce was bland. And the traditional Thai dish was also ok, definitely spicy but was expecting a little bit more sauce. read more

I unfortunately must update this for the worse. New ownership and the cooking style has changed. I came here three times and the results varied pretty widely. I got the green curry the first two times and the first time I noticed it was significantly sweeter than before but was still alright so I came back and ordered the same again but it tasted like pure coconut milk with a slight dab of curry. It was so sweet and coconuty I had to ask them to fix it, which they did but was still too sweet. I came back the third time and got curry fried rice, which before was amazing, but now it had much less of a curry taste and less chicken and a lot more potatoes. It was just meh. The owner and staff we met were very friendly and polite but the food isn't at the level it used to be so I have to update my review to reflect this. Some people may like this but I didn't. I have a love/hate relationship with Corner Thai. When it's good, it's really, really good. But sometimes the kitchen is inconsistent and slow. Sloth slow. It's taken up to an hour for a simple two noodle dish take out order. When they're on their game, I recommend drunken noodles, which they serve with glass noodles instead of the wide, flat noodles. Amazing food. Always so fresh tasting and consistent. Been here many many times. It's small so it can be tough to find a seat on busy days, but the warmer season offers expanded outdoor seating. We were driving around, my friend and I. We hadn't seen each other in a while. Of course it's off season so between Charlestown and Westerly a good amount of restaurants are closed. We drove by Corner Thai Cafe and even though I didn't see the sign for it, my friend spotted it and mentioned if we didn't find something soon we'd go back and eat there. 10 minutes later we drive into the strange plaza/strip mall and find it tucked into a corner where if we didn't see the lit open sign we'd have driven off. It's a tiny place with a handful of tables, definitely unpretentious yet clean and a little bit whimsical with Thai cultural touches. We could tell it's a family business as we were greeted by an elderly Thai Lady who didn't speak English but referred to a little girl who could have been her granddaughter as to where we could sit. A woman who could have been the girl's Mother came out and asked for our drink order. I asked if the Thai Tea was Green Tea and was told no it was orange. I wasn't brave enough to try it. Maybe another time. We talked and caught up and looked at the menu, taking our time. Barely anyone else was there at 6pm on a Wednesday night. As an appetizer my friend ordered Crab Cheese - Crispy wanton with cheese, crab meat and onion served with orange sauce $4.95 which reminded me of Crab Rangoon but folded more elaborately and was accompanied by a sauce that could have been duck sauce or plum sauce, sweet and sour. My friend ordered Teriyaki Salmon - Grilled Salmon topped with sauteed Thai teriyaki sauce and onion served over a bed of broccoli, cabbage and carrot. $14.95 The filet was fat and red and covered in Teriyaki, a beautiful piece of fish. A side of white rice came on the side. I ordered Gai Grob - Crispy chicken sauteed in a pineapple sauce with onion served over a bed of cabbage, carrot and broccoli $11.95 which I've never had before and it didn't disappoint. The chicken pieces were flattened and breaded and deep fried, covered in the pineapple sauce and presented over the vegetables which were crispy crunchy cooked except for the onions. The onions weren't cooked much longer but long enough to take the zing out of the rawness of white onions. It was a satisfying sweet and tangy dish, not spicy hot at all. Even though we both were stuffed we ordered the Mango Rice dessert - Sticky rice with coconut milk and mango. I'd never tried the simple dish before and it was refreshing as well as not too sweet yet rich enough to be sinful. What luck that we found this place! Everyone there was happy. The atmosphere was laid back and the food was wonderful. I know I'll be coming back here in the future. Westerly has some great Thai food and Corner is definitely one of the best. Pickup or Dine-In, this place is always a good choice when in the area. I'll admit I'm a bit preferential to Thong Thai down the street, but we do switch off between the two of these locations on a regular basis. read more
