Cornerstone Pie is one of the best restaurants in Ellensburg. They primarily serve artisan pizza, but have a good variety on their menu. They're a little on the more pricey end (for a college town), but the food is great and the service is wonderful! I highly recommend the potato and arugula pizza! read more

Our family was heading from the Seattle area to the Tri-Cities and we're looking for some grub, we turned to Yelp and found Cornerstone and were very intrigued. When we got off the exit in Ellensburg we saw a DQ and almost pulled off there - a blizzard was also very intriguing after hours in the car. Anyways, we ended up LOVING Cornerstone Pie. We'd definitely go back, and absolutely recommend it to friends! It was so delicious, service was great and the location was really really neat. Loved the ambiance. We ordered the Super Kale salad, a small Chicken and Garlic pizza and a large half Margarita and half Firehouse! It was soooo delicious. Every single bite. We are from out of town and were looking for someplace to have dinner. We saw a couple posters around town about a concert but were a little confused by this. Was there a pizza place at a bigger outdoor venue? We decided to check it out, so glad we did. Service was excellent, from every employee. We had pizza and a salad, quality ingredients. My salad could have had a little more on it. The outdoor porch area goes almost around the building. Wine grapes growing on the fence, lavender, large boulders. They have a small stage area, with lighting that was really impressive and not over the top but asthetically well done. I would say more like 2.5 stars. My impression is that they are trying to create a unique menu and pizza experience, but the food fell short. The steak sandwich was just odd...a mixture of less-than tender steak with bizarre combinations. Adding kale to a steak sandwich was not appetizing and seems opportunistic instead of paying attention to flavor profiles. It also had a few other additions that over complicate it. Sometimes when you aren't confident in your food, you keep adding ingredients to compensate. Simple is better! Cheesy bread was forgettable and dry. Will not be eating their pizza again. Another over-priced pizza under the guise of "artisan pizza". The pulled pork pizza barely had pork and fell way short of flavor. Artisan or originality does not matter when the flavor is not there. I was very impressed by these folks. Even on a busy Friday night, they were careful to ensure my pizza had no dairy or meat, even double-checking the balsamic reduction. I've been here twice now, tonight I met the manager Caesar who could not have been more welcoming and friendly. The entire staff is friendly and they all are warm and very professional. The pizza is very good, especially the crust. I've had the pepperoni and tonight I had cheese with bacon and feta. The Caesar salad is delicious too. Went here during the first week of operations and the pizzas were kinda lack-luster, but I'm happy to report that they have greatly improved the quality! The pizzas are about the size of a regular medium pizza, so they are best shared between 2 people (maybe 3 if you're not that hungry). I wish they had more of a selection on their menu (especially for those with restrictive diets) but they're kind of a hodge-podge of espresso joint/pint bar/pizza cafe, so I understand that their focus is not on putting out amazing culinary creations. The seating on the inside is not that comfortable (mostly basic tables with stools or hard chairs) but the small patio on the outside would be a nice place to sit with a beer and a pizza and enjoy the sunshine when the weather is nice. On the plus side, since this place is owned by the D&M Coffee people, they serve great coffee in the mornings without the craziness of the college crowds at their other locations. Overall, this place doesn't wow me, but the re-purposed decor is amusing and the service is always great so I'll be back. read more

Highlights: Super friendly service, a quaint little wrap around porch to dine on and a really special salad on the menu thats not to be missed. The salad features spinach, diced chicken, avocado, tomatoes, red onion, cruton crumbs and bright bites of fresh sectioned navel oranges, this is all combined with a sweet poppyseed creamy dressing (poppyseed?). This salad is entree sized and left me feeling satisfied. I didnt try the pizza but my table guests shared the pepperoni pie. They said the crust had a good flavor but was undercooked in the middle. We also shared the "fries" which are actually homemade potato wedges with rosemary. They were hot and fresh but not what we were anticipating. They were the type of fry that would be better served as a side dish with steak or chicken, not so much what comes to mind with a basket of fries. Well we had their penne and cheese, Caesar salad and breadsticks, gluten free garlic chicken pizza, a pepperoni pizza, and a regular crust garlic chicken pizza. Now while our visit here while on our way home from B.C wasn't the best-I can say that they did their best to compensate for the mistake and not only gave us a free pizza they messed up on (bringing a regular crust instead of a gf one first) but also did not charge us for the replacement one. Not sure I would recommend the gf crust-it was undercooked and a bit doughy (although may have been cause they were rushing to get it out after bringing out the wrong pizza the first time). The other pizzas were good per my son. The penne and cheese was yummy per my daughter and the atmosphere was good. (I bet it would be great in the summer time on the patio). I'll give 3 stars for now-the flavors were mostly there and if we go back through again we may choose to stop back by to give it a second chance. read more

My one critique is that many of the pies are loaded with ingredients that quickly dampen the otherwise crisp crust. If you're in a hurry: my pie came out in 7 minutes from ordering. Pizza is good, service is a bit slow unless you sit at the counter. I've been in multiple times and have had to wait extremely long to get another beer if I'm not at the counter. The pesto Pacifica and fire house are solid options. They could switch up their tap selection more often read more

What a great couple of pie's! Garlic Chicken & Donna's. So good the roasted garlic was so sweet and tasty. I could have just ate those by themself. The waitstaff were great, friendly and on top of their game all night. We definitely didn't feel neglected or forgotten about from water to pizza or just wanting to shoot the breeze for a bit. By far the best pizza & service I've had in washington state in a long time. Now for the pizza because that is what yelpers want to know about: Garlic chicken the sauce was so creamy, the herb chicken breast was very moist for being on a pizza. The other toppings like the fire roasted tomatoes, green onions and fresh basil were paired so well with everything - my mouth or stomach couldn't complain about this pizza! Now one of the namesakes of the owners: Donna's Fav - Tomato sauce, fresh ovalini mozzarella, kalamata olives, roasted garlic cloves, red onions, and Italian sausage, topped with savory pesto - a new true classic pizza! Went with my son who is a student for dinner and was pleasantly surprised! When he said we were going for pizza my expectations were low! They have a lot of great choices for not so normal toppings! We had half Thai and half Black and Bleu and both were fantastic. They have a great wine selection and of course local beers. Large pizza was pretty small, sHould be considered a medium. We called for a pickup on our way to Pullman. It was ready when we arrived but a bit disappointing. We wanted pepperoni and sausage and they charged an extra $2 for a few pieces of sausage. Although it was cooked in a brick oven, the crust was a little chewy, like little Caesars. Over all, I guess it was college town pizza and there was nothing special or bad about it, but it seemed a little expensive for cheap college town pizza. read more
