This spot is located in SE PDX on Division St where they have a small parking lot or a lot of street parking around the neighborhood. Inside, they have a cool and cozy setup with a couple tables for seating. For their flavors, they have so many good options to choose from. I really had to sample almost every one before I could come to a decision. I ended up getting a scoop of the Blood Orange Dreamsicle and wifey got the Turkish Delight. The ice cream is so rich and creamy which really makes every bite so enjoyable. All of the staff here, including the owner, are very friendly and welcoming. my first time trying custard did not disappoint! it is pretty similar to ice cream but i would say it's a lot sweeter. my favorite flavor was the milk and honey. it was not too sweet or overpowering and i love how there were crunchy bits in it. service was quick. the employees were very nice and they were patient while we tried multiple samples. the person who scooped our ice cream was very sweet. we were lucky that we arrived right before there was a rush. the shop is quite small so it gets crowded quick. this place is quite expensive and they don't offer a kids scoop (only a single scoop at the smallest size) so i probably wouldn't come back too often. i would be curious to see what seasonal flavors they have though read more

Super cute frozen dessert spot with some of the most eye-catching flavors I have seen in a while! I think a lot of people probably first saw this spot as the fluffed up layers of towering ice cream featured on Instagram...and I will admit, that was how I first heard of this spot as well. It was an easy choice to check this place out after a dinner at The Turning Peel across the street - my sweet tooth refused to be checked with dessert there so round 2 here we go. There was not too much of a line which was great and we were able to move through quickly that initial time. I went back more recently because I adore black sesame, vietnamese coffee, and thai tea so when they had these flavors, I KNEW I had to. They can do split scoops, but have a maximum of 2 flavors regardless of size so bewarned! I was distraught because I couldn't get all three, esp since I went alone. But hey that just meant I took one home as a pint heheh that's the reasonable, logical thing to do, duh. You can enroll/get points for purchasing pints which is great too. My one qualm here is that the price point is quite steep. $8 for a single scoop, $14 for a double; and as high as the quality seems to be, I have a hard time justifying that price. The pints are $17 which honestly are the best deal out of the 3 options in this case. I love the flavors, want to support a local business as much as I can, but have to admit that the price point makes it a "once in a while" treat rather than something more routine. read more

Was in Portland visiting a friend and she was extremely excited that Cornet Custard was open so we stopped in. I got a scoop of the pistachio in a cup which was very good. Pistachio is my favorite and this was delicious. My friend got the blackberry swirl in a cone and was thrilled to try something new. Tried Cornet Custard yesterday and enjoyed it! The shop is bright and clean. Small footprint, but a couple of benches to sit and scarf down your scoop. Prices are up there, with a single scoop being $8, double $13, and pints at $17. The scoop size is generous - I wish they had a kids scoop option for cost and portion size. The staff is friendly and allow you to try samples, which is always appreciated. The flavors I tried were all delicious. My vegan friend would've have liked more vegan flavors. Cornet Custard has been making small batch frozen custard in a limited residency at Colibri. Custard is rich, including egg yolks, and Cornet does not have the air of lesser, lighter ice creams. They are a branch of Naomi Pomeroy's Ripe empire, once available at the late Ripe Cooperative, and then in residency with Colibri Flowers. The new small shop has pints and scoops, bowl or cone. I had the strawberry shortcake and the Devil's Food dark chocolate. The scoops are generous. They are adult flavors not overly sweet. Take-home, they would fit well with special occasions or dinner parties. Their website and socials will announce the current flavors. The store is small, with one cafe table. No seating outside for now though that may change with Pomeroy's soon-to-open project next door. Opening day was the last day of the Portland Public Schools school year; there was quite a selection of parents and children enjoying a treat. They did also have a small selection of stunning small flower bouquets. So you could satisfy several romantic needs at once! They have some standard flavors and then weekly specials - which they do update on IG. We ended up with the Devil's food and the Bananas foster - both were incredible, 11/10. The first item on the menu at Cornet was Peanut Hot Fudge Sundae - an upgraded version of a DQ staple. It was wonderful to see a dessert variation of what they've done at the nearby Matt's BBQ Tacos - taking something from the fast food world and running with it.... in this case, rich custard contrasting with the peanut crunch. The Devils Food option was similarly intense in flavor, with a bit of cakiness taking over on the texture side. Inside, there's a counter for serving scoops, a freezer with pints, and a small table with two chairs. This cute restored shop is one of the very few places that serve custard in the region. I had the only menu item that consisted of more than one flavor: corn blackberry cajeta (caramel). It was delicious. My wife had the strawberry, which she loved but I thought was just OK. None of the other five flavors interested me. The big downside was their cone: it was dry and tasteless, and at 7 inches long, the longest cone I've ever held. The custard doesn't drip down into the cone, so you end up with basically an inedible custard holder. read more

I love custard. I can't believe it's taken Portland so long to get a respectable custard shop. I first learned of the wonderful world of custard when my thoroughly midwestern husband blew my sweet-tooth loving mind by introducing me to the concept of custard in Kansas City. Skeptical at first, I reversed course immediately and became obsessed. Once Cornet opened (after tragedy... RIP Naomi), I began stalking the place, waiting for it to open and lurking outside its doors, desperately trying to figure out its cryptic opening hours (one demerit for really not seeming to keep predictable opening hours... seriously you guys, please just tell us when you're open OK?). I finally managed to stop by when they were staffed and open, and tried six flavors and was surprised by some of the flavors that were truly magnificent - stuff that I would never normally order, but tried on the recommendation of the proprietress and was blown away by. I'm not normally a twee flavor person, but she was right and the mango minty WHATEVER was a true flavor sensation and I WILL be back. If they offer a punchcard, I plan to fill mine.
