Fresh food on the mountain is the best! Ordered club with side salad instead of fries to go, and it was very delicious. I think the fries would be tasty when after coming down from the mountain. I'd recommend this dish if you are craving a sandwhich. The service was great and the lady who took my order was helpful and it's super close to the main lodge and side lodges just walk outside the door practically. There's like 4-6 parking spots first come first serve if your plan to dine here. Lots seating, but it's off season with only 1 week left until snow season ends. We get pizza from here every year when we are at Kirkwood. The food quality has improved quite a bit over the previous year, especially the crust. It was also not as noisy. The service has always been very good for this type of restaurant. Value, well, it was $32 for a large pizza. To be fair to Vail, Kirkwood is pretty remote and labor and supply costs are probably higher. All in all, it was a decent three star experience and if you are staying at the resort or want an after slope meal, worth trying. read more

Monday night of Spring break. Not too many people in here. The waitress/bartender and manager made sure everyone was checked on and needed for nothing. After that I brought my girlfriend her slippers so she could change out of her ski boots. The Cornice Grill has been wildly inconsistent in terms of being open, service level, and the food. It was closed until the 2022-23 season, then open again for the 2023-24 season. The menu and quality of the food changes annually based on the management and cooks. It is a nice venue for kids and locals. read more

Corncice Grill was surprisingly good, considering the negative reviews! Plus, let's be honest - it's the only place open for dinner after the slopes close. After attempting to go to 7800 (they stop serving food at 4pm), we popped in to Cornice looking for keto friendly food. As it turns out, they have a pulled pork sandwich that you can order WITHOUT the BBQ sauce, woo hoo! I ordered that (plus a side of bacon that was some of the best peppered bacon I've ever eaten) and the b/f had the buffalo chicken sandy (legit because it was marinated and grilled, not fried). Also, the waffle fries were the perfect level of crispy. The bartender was solid - paid attention to us but didn't bug. Came here and got a burger. Just don't come here. If you wanna just fill up and don't care about quality then maybe...I would probably recommend fried chicken. I didn't too much of that, but it was quite sizable and it was fine. I got the double patty cornice burger. It was pretty lame and I realized they never asked me how I wanted it done (normally like medium rare) but when my friend asked for medium rare steak they gave it medium well anyways, so it seems like they don't care anyways. The burger was kind of dry, the avocado was just slathered on but it didn't really blend with it. Service is also really slow even when it was pretty empty. read more

I was really hungry after snowboarding at kirkwood 'til 4:30PM and was yelping for places close by. Cornice Grill popped up as my first recommendation. Can't believe I missed this place even though it's right in front of the Kirkwood Ski Resort's sign. *shake my head* There was a parking garage under the restaurant, but I think that's strictly limited to just employees there? There's plenty of parking outside, where people usually park to go to Kirkwood. Once you walk into the restaurant, you order at the front. They'll give you a number stand, which you can place it on any table you choose. My friends and I ordered the garlic pesto parm twists and 2 types of pizza: BBQ chicken & All Veggies. The garlic pesto perm twists was very delicious and filling. It came with two dips--one tasted like olives and the other tasted like dried tomatoes (don't quote me on this). Random, but I usually don't even like garlic perm twists. Maybe I was too hungry? Who knows. *Shrugs* I thought it was cool how they were able to split the large pizza in half. Although I specifically asked the front desk girl to put in a request (slice the bbq chicken into 4 slices and the all veggies into 6 slices), but both pizza was sliced into 4 pieces. Pizza was very mid. The dough wasn't cooked through, and for a pizza place, it was very... interesting (you're better off with frozen pizza.) The service was so bad that the table next to us complained about waiting an hour and then left. They were playing country music and it was overall an experience that was not worth it. Service is good, food is okay. But can't complain when you are hungry after a long day of snowboarding. The staff are quite nice on the day I was there which was Super Bowl day this year! Everyone was in such a good friendly mood, except me because the 49er lost and it was snowing hard so we got trapped for a bit here. I'll preface this with the fact that they were short staffed on the day I came but I would not go out of my way to come here even if it was started fully. We were a group of 6 but it took almost half an hour to get our order taken and we had to fight to get water. Not great when you're spending all day tearing up the slopes. Ordered the cornice burger which was actually quite good, it hit the spot and I inhaled it so quickly it would have barely registered if it was bad (it wasn't). Unfortunately the waffle fries that accompanied it were almost tough in how they were prepared. Not a fan, and I am hugely obsessed with waffle fries. Pros: They are undiscovered both on Yelp and in real life; when the mountain is mobbed, they still will have seats. And, umm, that's about it. Unfortunately, given how sparse the pickings are at Kirkwood, that's good for three stars. Cons: SLOW service, SLOW food delivery, and overpriced beer. The tip for a group is INCLUDED, but then hidden in a sneaky fashion so that it'd be very easy to tip a second time on top of the 18%; it reads "Service charge: $XX" which is 18%, and then "Tip: $0" on the bill. Underhanded. The food was all, well, acceptable for generic resort food; a greasy pizza; an overcooked burger; acceptable fries; bland clam chowder; and so on. Prices are about what you'd expect for the location, or overpriced for a city. They do sell good microbeers on tap. read more

Went for lunch and dinner and was overcharged on the classic burger not once but twice. I ordered one for lunch and was charged $3.00 more then my son ordered one for dinner and was charged $16.45 for a burger that was advertised as 12.95. My husband ordered the wings that were on the menu for $12.95 and they charged us $14.50. This place is ripping everyone off! The burger and fries were good but they are a very dishonest restaurant. The managers answer was to give me 50% off my bill. WHAT??? This means everyone is getting charged these prices especially if they don't look at their bill. Update: after we sat around for 30 min waiting for the manager he came in and sat at our table and explained to us that the computer prices were the correct price and their menu isn't reflecting that and they are in the process of changing it. When asked what he could do for us I clearly told him we aren't looking for a free meal I would like him to go and correct all the menus so that other people in this restaurant don't feel like they are being overcharged. He never indicated if he was going to do that only that he wanted to comp our whole bill. And 16.45 for a burger is ridiculous! This is comparable to a sports bar and grill not an upscale restaurant! This place is awful. It was clear the female red headed manager had no idea how to run a restaurant. There was a 40 minute wait for a party of two which was understandable for a Saturday afternoon. Which isn't understandable was the fact that nearly the whole restaurant was empty. Empty. We figured the wait would be less considering that. Nope, we waited over an hour just to be sat. When I asked the manager taking names she said she was waiting on another server to arrive. Wait, so we're waiting for a server to drive all the way up the mountain on a Saturday afternoon? Do you not plan for weekend rushes? I work at a restaurant and I know you never have people waiting outside in the cold with open tables for a server that's not even there. The place was pretty small and already had four or five servers running around. Why couldn't they take the tables? If your servers can't handle more than a couple tables at a time maybe you need to hire better servers, or a better manager that doesn't leave people out in the cold when there are open seats. After waiting an hour and no names being called we realized that even though we had at least 10 names in front of us, we were next. Everyone else walked out. Isn't this a huge warning sign, Cornice Grill? People walking out, empty tables with wait lists and horrible yelp reviews? It's a wonder how this place stays in business. Our server was ok, but the drinks we ordered (coffee and hot chocolate) were cold. We also placed our order right away since we had an hour wait. We ordered the hot wings and quesadilla. The food came out pretty quick but the hot wings were cold and dripping with grease. I mean these things were ice cold. Which is also confusing considering the extremely limited menu they have- how could a kitchen mess up such simple orders considering they must have to make them all the time? The bill came to a whopping $45 dollars which simply wasn't worth it considering half of the food was inedible. We should have asked for a refund but we wanted to get out of that atrocity of a restaurant soon as possible. All in all, save your money and precious snowboarding/skiing time and go elsewhere. This place is a mess waiting to cave in on it's own incompetence. Update: For your own safety, I recommend not eating here. A few hours later my boyfriend and I got incredibly sick - like a stone sitting in our stomachs. We will be filing a report with the heath department. Sloooow. Sooooo sloooow. If you want to get back the mountain for more runs after lunch, think again. The place was empty around noon and we still had to wait to get seated. Then we had to wait about ten minutes before our server took our order. Then we had to wait about thirty minutes to get a pastrami sandwich and fries. Then we had to wait ten more minutes to get the check we asked for three times. It was a beautiful day at Kirkwood and we wish we could've taken more advantage of the fresh powder but we made the wrong choice by walking into this place. On the plus side, the normal fries were good, but I'm pretty sure those are available at any of the Kirkwood restaurants with less waits. read more

We went the 7800 restaurant and they were closed so we settled on the Cornice. You order at the front desk and take a number. We ordered the veggie pizza and wings. We took our number to the bar and ordered a beer. The bartender was super helpful and friendly. The pizza was one step below Cesars and the wings were cold. Needless to say they just opened for the new ski season the night before. I recommend more training for the kitchen because the food was really bad and way overpriced. The Cornice Grill, at the base of the slopes at Kirkwood, offers a great menu, beer, and bar choices. It has abundant seating, great views of the mountain, and excellent food choices, whether you're looking to stick to a budget, or not. The spinach salad with grilled chicken was outstanding!!!! One of the best salads I have had! (dried cranberries, abundant and tasty grilled chicken, caramelized walnuts, etc.) We also ordered a pizza and beer happy-hour special which was a perfect end to a day on the slopes.
