Buffalo chicken sandwich (grilled not fried). 3/5
    Andrea R.

Corncice Grill was surprisingly good, considering the negative reviews! Plus, let's be honest - it's the only place open for dinner after the slopes close. After attempting to go to 7800 (they stop serving food at 4pm), we popped in to Cornice looking for keto friendly food. As it turns out, they have a pulled pork sandwich that you can order WITHOUT the BBQ sauce, woo hoo! I ordered that (plus a side of bacon that was some of the best peppered bacon I've ever eaten) and the b/f had the buffalo chicken sandy (legit because it was marinated and grilled, not fried). Also, the waffle fries were the perfect level of crispy. The bartender was solid - paid attention to us but didn't bug. Granted, there were literally only 3 other people in the whole place, but still. We didn't order them, but the nachos looked incredible. I will definitely get those when we go back.

Came here and got a burger. Just don't come here. If you wanna just fill up and don't care about quality then maybe...I would probably recommend fried chicken. I didn't too much of that, but it was quite sizable and it was fine. I got the double patty cornice burger. It was pretty lame and I realized they never asked me how I wanted it done (normally like medium rare) but when my friend asked for medium rare steak they gave it medium well anyways, so it seems like they don't care anyways. The burger was kind of dry, the avocado was just slathered on but it didn't really blend with it. Service is also really slow even when it was pretty empty.

I was really hungry after snowboarding at kirkwood 'til 4:30PM and was yelping for places close by. Cornice Grill popped up as my first recommendation. Can't believe I missed this place even though it's right in front of the Kirkwood Ski Resort's sign. *shake my head* There was a parking garage under the restaurant, but I think that's strictly limited to just employees there? There's plenty of parking outside, where people usually park to go to Kirkwood. Once you walk into the restaurant, you order at the front. They'll give you a number stand, which you can place it on any table you choose. My friends and I ordered the garlic pesto parm twists and 2 types of pizza: BBQ chicken & All Veggies. The garlic pesto perm twists was very delicious and filling. It came with two dips--one tasted like olives and the other tasted like dried tomatoes (don't quote me on this). Random, but I usually don't even like garlic perm twists. Maybe I was too hungry? Who knows. *Shrugs* I thought it was cool how they were able to split the large pizza in half. Although I specifically asked the front desk girl to put in a request (slice the bbq chicken into 4 slices and the all veggies into 6 slices), but both pizza was sliced into 4 pieces. I guess there's no point in putting slice requests, lol.

Service is good, food is okay. But can't complain when you are hungry after a long day of snowboarding. The staff are quite nice on the day I was there which was Super Bowl day this year! Everyone was in such a good friendly mood, except me because the 49er lost and it was snowing hard so we got trapped for a bit here. The staff was so friendly, they let us stay until the snow died down a bit before we head out. Definitely a fun bar to hangout with friend for a game or after snowboarding/ skiing.

I had the Gambler Steak Burger with garlic parmesan fries. My brother got the Blackened Salmon Ceasar Salad. I was surprised when the waiter said "good choice the salmon here is delicious". They have wild caught king salmon delivered twice a week. We split our food. The salmon was as good or better than any piece of salmon I have ever had. It melted in your mouth. My burger was cooked medium to perfection. Super juicey and delicious. Among the best burgers I have ever had no joke; they grind their own meat. The hand cut fries were really good too. Service is friendly and attentive. Great beer selection and plenty of TVs to catch the game you are after. We liked it so much that we went back and ordered the same dishes the next day and they were perfect again. They passed the consistency test. Yes two days in a row; thats how good it was. I looked at the bad reviews and it must have been off days for those bad experiences.

They probably use corn starch instead of flour, because they aren't overly breaded. Shoutout to the prep workers there (whatup Zoe!), because the food is like crazy good, hot, and fast. For most of the food, they have this insane rotating grill that you can see from the street. Super cool operation Steak salad is a must as well. It's so refreshing! It's got a balsamic dressing, some bleu cheese, and either raisin or dried cranberry and maybe walnuts. I don't actually know because I shovel it down my throat lol. Burgers are the best in the area. Even their less popular items are very well done. Recently got a sausage and peppers sandwich that was as good as what I routinely make at home. Atmosphere is amazing. All the employees go above and beyond. I usually sit at the bar and play any of their video gambles. You win some, you tip extra, you leave happy. You lose some and get some beers on the house. I'll go there if I go to Nevada beaches, or if I want to catch a game. South Lake resident and I generally avoid stateline for it's crowds but I'll head up to Lucky Beaver just for the food. I'm assuming they do PPV MMA fights which is another excuse to show up going forward Shoutout to Bruno as well. Awesome bartender. There's also a few awesome gals who's names escape me at the moment. It's a super chill place while having a great vibe and energy The other patrons are just fun people, it's easy to have a conversation with the guy sitting next to you. It's a well known place but I think it's still a hidden gem amongst all that chaos lol. For a 24 hour place, it's very chill. Never had a bad experience. It's good for hanging out with friends but I wouldn't hesitate bringing my nieces and nephews and whole family there. Only critique is parking. They don't comp it, but all parking is paid now at the casinos, so it's no surprise, that's just the standard.. I think if you get in and out in less than an hour parking is free, so keep that in mind. You can also park further away at other free parking areas and walk.

The bar also offers gaming, if that's your thing. Our Server was Paul and he was very welcoming from the moment we got there and provided excellent service the duration of our visit. The food, also great!! My husband had the Sliders Special and I had the Ralph Wiggum. I was very greatful they were willing to switch off the Bacon for Avocado. So why 4 and not 5 stars you might ask? Well, to finish off we ordered a Banana Cheesecake to share; However, what we got were two slices. Now, if you want to give me a slice for free, I won't say "no", but we were charged $15. Why not just give me one slice and charge me $7.50? That is what I ordered, after all. We questioned the 2 slices and were told the owner had requested it be served this way. Serving 2 slices to charge double? Who does that? Ugh, I'll go for it once, but not twice. Just beware!

Will we be back, yes. We didn't have a lot of time, and we are rather particular about our cocktails. We always try to order local distilleries in our cocktails, but they didn't have any Frey Ranch or Minden Mill, and so we let the bartender choose our bourbon for our Old Fashioned. He proved to be very proficient at the Old Fashioned and the Woodford Reserve he chose worked out fine. The place has the ambiance of a 'locals' spot and the couple that were leaving as we arrived were talking with the staff like they are friends. I always like that as it takes some time and energy to develop relationships, and it's tougher in a tourist town. So how do I wrap up this little visit to a local's bar in Stateline, Nevada? In short, good cocktail, good choices of spirits (and hopefully they'll have some local spirits next time), friendly ambiance, and all of these attributes make it a nice option for me next time I'm in the neighborhood and thirsty. Heck, I might even try a burger here. They've got a menu that I didn't even have time to consider......but that's for next time.

We knew it wasn't going to be crowded and the food will be fresh, but it was so much more than that. Overland is lucky to employ Tennessee, who might just be the best server in the Carson Valley. I grant you that we haven't been to every restaurant and we haven't had every server and so it could be hyperbole to try to tell you that he's the best, but we need to be sure to let you know that he is clearly in the top percentile of quality, local servers. Why you ask. He anticipated our every need, and so we always had water, always had coffee, and he cleared every single time he got near the table. His positive energy is infectious. Yes, I can hear you now, what about the food? My wife can, on occasion, high maintenance, and this was one of those mornings. She ordered the Eggs Benedict without the bottom bread plus one more whole extra Eggs Benedict, and Tennessee didn't flinch. I ordered the vegetarian omelette and I had side breakfast potatoes. All of it tasted great. I even tried the hollandaise sauce on my wife's eggs Benedict and it tasted fresh and tasty. So, I say give Tennessee a raise, and when you go to the Overland, hope that you get seated in his section because it will be an experience that you won't forget soon, and the food is very good. Somehow, this breakfast restaurant is flying under the radar on Saturdays and Sundays. I'll give benefit of the doubt that it was slow season and staffing might be lean. My wife and I ordered Baja fish tacos and the fish n chips plate, I though the texture and execution of the dishes was spot on, very crispy and appetizing looking dishes, the tacos had cotija cheese on top of the fried fish, diced peppers with pico, and the side was a creative play on street corn (corn, mayo, cheese, spices) served with chips. The only critique I'll give is everything needed more salt, but that's better than being salty. My drinks were amazing, blood orange IPA and the clear water lager (award winning). The bartender (I didn't catch her name, but I wish I did) was absolutely amazing. She was so friendly and kind. We showed up dressed as Pitbull and his security so we definitely stood out, but she loved it and celebrated us and my sister. She made us feel welcomed and made it as fun of an experience as possible by trying to play a Pitbull song for us, but someone else skipped it. She gave us the last of the Jell-O shots which we greatly appreciated. She also invited us to return the next day to play Bingo at 3pm, but we couldn't make it. There's a music system (like a jukebox) where you can pay for songs you'd like to listen to. We paid for some songs that were more upbeat than the music that was playing when we arrived and it didn't seem to be well received by some of the other patrons. Others have the option to skip your songs (even though you pay for them). I personally had a blast and had great interactions with others in the bar, but others in my group had experiences that made them feel unwelcome by people in the bar so I deducted a couple stars from my review since it didn't seem to be inclusive. My sister was in the bathroom and overheard others saying negative things about our group so we called it a night shortly after that happened.
