Buffalo chicken sandwich (grilled not fried). 3/5
    Andrea R.

Corncice Grill was surprisingly good, considering the negative reviews! Plus, let's be honest - it's the only place open for dinner after the slopes close. After attempting to go to 7800 (they stop serving food at 4pm), we popped in to Cornice looking for keto friendly food. As it turns out, they have a pulled pork sandwich that you can order WITHOUT the BBQ sauce, woo hoo! I ordered that (plus a side of bacon that was some of the best peppered bacon I've ever eaten) and the b/f had the buffalo chicken sandy (legit because it was marinated and grilled, not fried). Also, the waffle fries were the perfect level of crispy. The bartender was solid - paid attention to us but didn't bug. Granted, there were literally only 3 other people in the whole place, but still. We didn't order them, but the nachos looked incredible. I will definitely get those when we go back.

Came here and got a burger. Just don't come here. If you wanna just fill up and don't care about quality then maybe...I would probably recommend fried chicken. I didn't too much of that, but it was quite sizable and it was fine. I got the double patty cornice burger. It was pretty lame and I realized they never asked me how I wanted it done (normally like medium rare) but when my friend asked for medium rare steak they gave it medium well anyways, so it seems like they don't care anyways. The burger was kind of dry, the avocado was just slathered on but it didn't really blend with it. Service is also really slow even when it was pretty empty.

I was really hungry after snowboarding at kirkwood 'til 4:30PM and was yelping for places close by. Cornice Grill popped up as my first recommendation. Can't believe I missed this place even though it's right in front of the Kirkwood Ski Resort's sign. *shake my head* There was a parking garage under the restaurant, but I think that's strictly limited to just employees there? There's plenty of parking outside, where people usually park to go to Kirkwood. Once you walk into the restaurant, you order at the front. They'll give you a number stand, which you can place it on any table you choose. My friends and I ordered the garlic pesto parm twists and 2 types of pizza: BBQ chicken & All Veggies. The garlic pesto perm twists was very delicious and filling. It came with two dips--one tasted like olives and the other tasted like dried tomatoes (don't quote me on this). Random, but I usually don't even like garlic perm twists. Maybe I was too hungry? Who knows. *Shrugs* I thought it was cool how they were able to split the large pizza in half. Although I specifically asked the front desk girl to put in a request (slice the bbq chicken into 4 slices and the all veggies into 6 slices), but both pizza was sliced into 4 pieces. I guess there's no point in putting slice requests, lol.

Service is good, food is okay. But can't complain when you are hungry after a long day of snowboarding. The staff are quite nice on the day I was there which was Super Bowl day this year! Everyone was in such a good friendly mood, except me because the 49er lost and it was snowing hard so we got trapped for a bit here. The staff was so friendly, they let us stay until the snow died down a bit before we head out. Definitely a fun bar to hangout with friend for a game or after snowboarding/ skiing.

It works when your kids won't leave the room! Had this multiple times and it's not as bad as yelp reviews make it seem.

We got stuck here in a blizzard and ate here multiple times. I really liked the fried cheese curds. I would appreciate more vegan options.

Pretty good pizza. Great appetizers. People must be picky eaters because this place was good. Happy hour prices are really good too.

It's good pizza. A bit pricey but pretty inline with what you would expect at a big resort or the bay area.

They have an extensive menu of salads, apps, sandwiches, burgers, and breakfast items served all day. The restaurant has electronic gaming at the bar, so if you have children, you can't dine inside. They have a small outdoor space, but we've never had issues getting a table. The ambiance is what you would expect of a casino/bar type restaurant. It's dirty and it's dingy. But I pay it no mind because the burgers are *chef's kiss*. Every burger I've had has been executed perfectly. The burgers are flavorful and juicy and I always find myself finishing the entire thing. I have not been disappointed so far. We love the CORKSCREW SHRIMP for apps. I've tried some of their other items from other people in my party, like cheesesteaks, breakfast sandwiches, hot dogs, and chix sandwiches, but STICK WITH THE BURGERS, it's what they're known for. Service has been great every single time we've been here. The women are so polite and friendly. I will always recommend this place to anyone in search of a good burger.

It's a nice divey sports bar covered with lots of pictures of happy customers all over the walls. It's mostly high-top tables plus the bar, with a small patio outside. I got the namesake breakfast - it came with two eggs, bacon, sausage, avocado, sourdough toast and tots. The eggs were perfect and so was the bacon. The toast was good and it was fun to have the tots, though they were a little overdone. I didn't particularly care for the sausage but nothing wrong with it. My husband enjoyed his steak and eggs, cooked perfectly medium rare. The coffee was also surprisingly good and the service was friendly. The burger menu looks great and I'd definitely come back to check it out. Nice spot!

So there we were. We…read morewanted to take a bike ride, have breakfast, and enjoy a beautiful spring day. We did all of that and we decided to have breakfast at the Overland. We knew it wasn't going to be crowded and the food will be fresh, but it was so much more than that. Overland is lucky to employ Tennessee, who might just be the best server in the Carson Valley. I grant you that we haven't been to every restaurant and we haven't had every server and so it could be hyperbole to try to tell you that he's the best, but we need to be sure to let you know that he is clearly in the top percentile of quality, local servers. Why you ask. He anticipated our every need, and so we always had water, always had coffee, and he cleared every single time he got near the table. His positive energy is infectious. Yes, I can hear you now, what about the food? My wife can, on occasion, high maintenance, and this was one of those mornings. She ordered the Eggs Benedict without the bottom bread plus one more whole extra Eggs Benedict, and Tennessee didn't flinch. I ordered the vegetarian omelette and I had side breakfast potatoes. All of it tasted great. I even tried the hollandaise sauce on my wife's eggs Benedict and it tasted fresh and tasty. So, I say give Tennessee a raise, and when you go to the Overland, hope that you get seated in his section because it will be an experience that you won't forget soon, and the food is very good. Somehow, this breakfast restaurant is flying under the radar on Saturdays and Sundays. They truly deserve to be packed as they have the formula for success, great service, good food, and a clean environment..

We didn't realize that it was the same owners of Great Basin, but it was very reminiscent with pub fare, similar menu styles, and Great Basin beers on tap. We'd stop again, but wouldn't go out of our way since we have several Great Basin locations to choose from in Reno.

The bartender (I didn't catch her name, but I wish I did) was absolutely amazing. She was so friendly and kind. We showed up dressed as Pitbull and his security so we definitely stood out, but she loved it and celebrated us and my sister. She made us feel welcomed and made it as fun of an experience as possible by trying to play a Pitbull song for us, but someone else skipped it. She gave us the last of the Jell-O shots which we greatly appreciated. She also invited us to return the next day to play Bingo at 3pm, but we couldn't make it. There's a music system (like a jukebox) where you can pay for songs you'd like to listen to. We paid for some songs that were more upbeat than the music that was playing when we arrived and it didn't seem to be well received by some of the other patrons. Others have the option to skip your songs (even though you pay for them). I personally had a blast and had great interactions with others in the bar, but others in my group had experiences that made them feel unwelcome by people in the bar so I deducted a couple stars from my review since it didn't seem to be inclusive. My sister was in the bathroom and overheard others saying negative things about our group so we called it a night shortly after that happened. I wish this place was a little more inclusive, but I would return just to visit with our bartender who was so welcoming to our group.

First thing you noticed is the bread was not toasted at all. It had a couple of brown stripes on one side only. When you open the sandwich, the lettuce was wilted, and the tomato was absolute mush, like it had been old and laying around for hours. The worst thing, though, were the avocados. 2/3 of the avocados were dark, gray or black. Obviously not a good avocado, but yet they managed to cut it up and serve it. And the last thing that was disappointing, was the fact that the bacon was in one wad in the center of the sandwich and not laid out on the sandwich. Just a wad that had to be disassembled and spread out. It looks and feels and sounds to me that that kitchen needs some discipline. Don't use old food! If the client asked for mayo, put it on the damn sandwich like they requested. Everything points to that cook being in one heck of a hurry as it was obvious everything was done down and dirty with little to no concern or care for presentation or freshness. I called this evening to let the manager know and I will call the general manager tomorrow. I believe they said his name was Joe? This is my second time at Maguire's as a local and I'm absolutely not impressed. There's a sign up when you walk in that says please wait to be seated. There are a couple of benches there so I sat down and waited yet I could not get the attention of anybody. It wasn't that busy. A few people walked in and managed to get seated. I talked to a couple of the waitresses asking if I could check on my to go order and was met with I'll get back to you. Eventually, I cornered one of the gals and there was my to go order sitting in a bag next to their Station. Something needs to be done about promptness also and managing and monitoring that entry station. I sure hope they can pick up their service and pick up their quality of food. Mike Vogt
