Be careful! Gave the attendant $50 in CASH for my gas on pump #2. When my credit did not show up at my pump, he INSISTED that I had said pump #1 which he had credited and another driver had filled up and drove off on my dollar. The attendant bullied me insisting it was my mistake until after 10 minutes of bullying me he called the owner saying, " Some lady is saying she told me the wrong pump"... asked the owner to pull up the video recording and FINALLY HEARD that he had been wrong. With a very weak apology after ALL of that arguing and harassment, he admitted, "I guess I was wrong and the owner told him to credit my pump for what I had paid for. BE SURE YOU ARE PAYING ATTENTION. He could have readily and politely offered to have the video accessed rather than bullying me and hoping I just go away. read more

I had several issues here before I quit going. They jump to quoting for things you didn't even ask about. For example, my car has staggered wheels and even though I was there for something else, he said I need tires and immediately was on the phone getting a price for a brand I wouldn't use and not even quoting two different sizes. Not the only time. My last experience was them replacing the radiator and putting back a worn out hose. Luckily another shop notified me of a leak and said to bring it back to them. I have always found it really weird when people reviewed gas stations, but I have to say that this is my favorite gas station to go to. The employees here are so nice and the place is so clean! As a woman, I get really nervous about getting gas alone because not only are the other customers weird, but I've had odd interactions with employees as well. That is NOT the case here at all. The man in the morning is always really friendly and responsive to everyone who walks in. At night, the older man who usually works is such a character and fun person to talk to. He is always so joyful and definitely makes a personal connection with every customer. As soon as I pull up and get ready to go in and pay, he already knows what pump I'm on by my car. When I leave, he always waves bye. I come here about three times a week and I've always felt comfortable, day and night. With everything going on in this world, it's really important to focus on the positive parts of your day. For me, coming here is a positive part of my day so thank you! read more

When the 76 Station was on this corner, they took pride in their landscaping. (Just look at some of the pictures from a few years ago.). They also offered great service. I hear from friends that this Corona Del Mar Gas Station now has the lowest prices in town. And I understand they're under construction...but is that an excuse to let the landscaping look so very shabby? Honestly, it's a weed patch. Of course, it's only a gas station and soon to be a convenience store. But they occupy a prime piece of real estate and I think their brand (and our village) would be enhanced by their investing in some low maintenance/drought tolerant plants (maybe birds of paradise like the folks across the street?). I'm really afraid they'll just tear out the planters and pave over everything. That would be a shame and a missed opportunity to make a positive statement about their business and their commitment to the community. read more

Here's the whole gig in a microcosm...as I was driving away from picking up my car (it's...an...older car), Sam (Service Manager), calls me and says the it looked like my brake lights might not have been functioning so please bring it back when I can." I called him later and told him they appeared to be working, but to me, to watch you drive off, then to grab your number and call when something might not be ideal...there's a little bit of "extra-step" going on at this place. For you bottom-liners, work was done as described, on time, and within the estimate. I know a lot of folks are always concerned that shops will give us the "you know, as I was looking under the car, I noticed your car has an exhaust thingy...very peculiar. We'll need to re-route it, update your brakes, brake lines, rotors, pads, radio buttons, sun visors, headlight washers and tire valve covers." Not here. They didn't go for any of the up-sell, "let's sell this high quality air filter, too," stuff. And one of the coolest things is that they would proactively call me with updates. They had my car for ages (completely in-line with expectations) and never said, "get this land barge out of our garage bays!" I love the reception when I get there. I don't mean they drop balloons and loud orchestra music plays...I mean, they're all cheerful and all engage. I stopped by today with another car, went in and saw Sam and asked him if he could come out and give me his opinion on what I should do about a deep scrape. Right away, he came out and gave me as much time as I needed and made two suggestions that did not involve him or his contacts (and one that did, which is also good). Oh, check this one...as I was transferring my transponder from that car to my escape vehicle, I dropped it on the ground well outside their service area. Well, they clearly don't make transponders they way the used to...thing blew up into every piece possible...battery almost rolled to Laguna. One of their guys in the service bays came out and started picking the pieces up, went back in the shop, and 5 minutes later came out with my transponder whole again...it's ALIVE! It's ALIIIIIIVE! So I'm not saying we should go there to get our small electronics repaired. For the auto stuff, they do the work right, they back it, they were priced in line with my expectations and with other estimates, and they were more than engaging and friendly. read more

First off, they are not overpriced. Their prices are on par with every other mechanic out there (but, obviously not your mechanic buddy who just charges you for parts) and they do a great job. They are the friendliest staff I have ever encountered at any mechanic shop and they have helped me tremendously. I have a POS Honda Civic that was leaking oil badly, very badly. I took it in there and the main guy, Randy, asked me what was wrong. I told him and told him I was very strapped for cash and was just hoping he could shoot me in the right direction. Without a second thought, Randy got one of his mechanics to pull my car around and look at it. I came back an hour later and they had diagnosed all the issues and charged me nothing...seriously!? Yes. Nothing! I told him I did not have the money for the repairs and was probably going to do it myself, they were not bitter or short with me after that. In fact, the opposite, I have gone to them once or twice a week for advice and they have constantly been looking at my car and guiding me in the repairs. Printing out manuals, the parts, and telling me EXACTLY what to do (not easy stuff either; water pump, timing belt, and a shit ton more). I can not express how impressed, satisfied, and thankful I am to the employees here. WIthout a doubt one of the few mechanic shops that contains honest, reliable, employees and unsurpassed quality service. I will continue to go here for as long as I can. Thanks guys! read more

It happened again! Emergency flat tire on Bo's car, fix a flat gave me enough air to drive it down to the station. Again, stalls were packed - I kiddy cornered the car off to the side in front of one of the stalls and a technician came out, jacked it up, found a big chunk of metal lodged in the tire and fixed it right there on spot in the middle of the parking lot. While waiting for the repair I noticed a service attendent putting air in the tires and checking the oil of a car that was being gassed up at the pump. Then I noticed...they offer full service on half of their pumps - I didn't know gas stations even did that anymore? I am once again amazed at the level of service I've received from this service station and will continue to be an evangelist for them! read more

I don't know why this place has bad reviews, because I've been there 3 times and its always been a great experience! I was recently sold a used car, and of course with my luck, it broke down. I got it towed up to them and when I got there in the morning to tell them what had happened they told me to come back in a couple hours. Upon return, they had taken pictures of everything that was wrong, gave me a paper for the repairs needed and then proceeded to repair it quickly and exceptionally well. Randy, the guy that I spoke with gave me a very thorough run through of the work being done as well as explaining the condition of the car overall. I can not tell you how few are far between mechanics like this are. And to those bitching about the price, the price they gave me was the same at most every other mechanic I got a quote from, the others were more expensive. Maybe they are more expensive slightly then some hole in the wall mechanic, but they do quality work and have a quality team! Also, about the full-service pumps and the people giving them crap for them, keep in mind it is Corona Del Mar....most Newport house wives take advantage of that. In concusion, do not listen to the naysayers, give them a try and I am sure Randy will meet or exceed any expectations as well as the rest of the staff. read more

ok first off the guys are always friendly and helpful so I am giving you 1 star. I have never taken my car here for service mostly due to poor yelp reviews. I have purchased a tank of propane, was first off 10 more the ace down the street second it was half way full. I took it back it was already pretty late so everyone else was closed. They did give me a second bottle, put that on the scale and same things only have full. Wow so I paid $ 26.- for half a bottle of propane, that is just plain thievery. Last night when I got off of work around 6pm, I got in my car and I heard this dreadful metal on concrete sound coming from beneath my car. I drove straight to this 76 gas station and auto repair shop because I knew I couldn't drive it home in this condition. The minute I pulled up, a kind gentleman named Tom who worked there said "You're dragging." Without hesitation he got on the ground to look underneath my car. There was a metal cap that had fallen off. Tom lifted up my car and used a metal wire to tie the cap safely and securely back to my car. Done. Problem solved. He was so fast and he knew what to do. He didn't charge me. I wanted to cry I was so happy. Tom, you made my day. Your kind act meant a lot to me and relieved my stress over the situation. HUGE THANK YOU to Tom. I hope everyone reads this knows how Tom went out of his way to help me when I was in need. I was truly a damsel in distress and Tom was my knight and shining armor. I genuinely appreciate it. I have had my car(s) serviced at CDM 76 for two decades, and was very satisfied with the work. HOWEVER, during a recent oil change, the reinserted the plug too tightly, causing damage to the oil pan, resulting in an oil leak. When i brought the car back for them to check out the leak, they acknowledged that the problem was that the plug was put in too tightly, the pan was damaged and would need to be replaced. When i told them they were responsible and should stand behind their work, they then denied that it was their fault, saying it probably was wear and tear that caused the problem (which in any case would not have caused damage to the pan). I would up having to take the job to the dealer ($625), who said there was no question the damage was done during an oil change. As long as they don't screw up, their work is fine. But be aware that you will pay for their screw-ups. read more

This is my neighborhood gas station and they are great. With the ridiculous amount of construction that overwhelms our neighborhood I find myself at the 76 at least once a year to get a nail or a screw pulled out of a deflating tire on my car. They fix it quickly and with a smile. I'll have random issues with my car that they will either troubleshoot for me or recommend what I will need to do. They are always there for their customers in a pinch! read more

This station, although Ceaser and others are NICE, have little idea what they are doing to fix a car. My car is a 2003 Mercedes S430. My gearshift stuck in park. I was quoted $2075 to fix it. I thought outrageous, but wasn't sure. It took them 2 days to fix it, meanwhile they put it back together incorrectly and poked multiple holes in my interior leather. I paid. The next day my battery went dead. I got a jump and took back the station. They charged battery and said it was good. The next morning it was dead again. I then bought a new battery from them, $298. This event, according to them caused electronic problems by disconnecting the battery whereas I had red caution lights all over the dash. I was quoted $740 to fix the problem. I did not go forward, and instead went to my longtime Mercedes mechanic in Laguna Niguel. He is a master mechanic. Number 1 - He was astounded when I told him the cost they charged for the gear shift. He would easily have fixed it for $600 and made money he says. 2 hours tops. Number 2 - The $740 charge they quoted to fix the electronics, he put on a computer and plugged in to my car, and it was fixed in less than 10 minutes. He charged me ZERO. He admonished me for not coming to him, and absolutely I was ripped off. I would be very suspect of this 76 station repair service. I will be asking for at least a partial refund, will see what happens. The overcharge being so egregious they either don't know what they are doing, or they purposely ripped me off. read more

My car was towed here because it was overheating. They kept it for four days three parts were ordered. My cost was $2216.17. Couple weeks later my car overheated and Burn to the ground. A lady drag me out of the car just before it was engulfed in flames. I want a refund. read more

This is by far the best service I have ever received. Sam McConnell, the Service Manager, is excellent. He showed me everything that was wrong with the car and then he gave me a printed estimate to repair the problems. My husband checked it out and said it sounded right. When I picked-up the car it looked like a new car. All of the work had been done, the interior was spotless, and the exterior looked like a new car. I was given a complete bill that showed exactly what had been done, how much it cost, etc. When I left Sam thanked me for using them, and the owner of the Corona Del Mar 76 came out and thanked me. I've come here several times, and everytime I do, the guys here are very attentive. The first time I was on my lunch break, with a flat tire, and they fixed it in like 10 minutes with no headaches, and they just, made it really convenient for me .I've since come here for oil changes, smogs, and at one point I had a peculiar coolant leak and was afraid it was going to be an exorbitant amount of money (its a 2004 bmw), but was relieved when they found and fixed the problem for like 350$. Took in the MZB. The automatic shifter was all messed up, sticking in park. 76 quote was $2,000. Yikes! Sounded high. So went online and paid $15 for a MZB mechanic to tell me if that was fair. After a few rounds back and forth, the online guy says the repair should be $900. I call the dealer, Fletcher Jones. I ask them what it would cost, they say $950. Too bad my car was already in the process of being repaired. In the end, 76 wants $1800. I say, no way. I call the owner, Hamid, and we haggle. I get them down to $1400. Still, come on. 50% higher than the dealer? Nice enough guys, but do the research before giving these guys the OK to repair your car. read more

Honest, professional and fairly priced repair shop. All of their mechanics are highly trained and certified. Their reception staff (Sam) is honest, kind and fair. I had a 06 VW with an emissions issue/CEL and some other problems and they shot me straight, made all repairs and chased all codes till it was fixed properly. They also gave me a very fair price on a costly timing belt replacement that I decided to have done since they were ripping the engine apart anyway. Car is running tip top now. This is a complicated, turbo charged vehicle and when they were unsure of something? They were humble enough to go to VW for advice. Good shop read more

Visited the station a few months back & they replaced a tire for around $100 on my daughters car. She again needed a new tire so we returned. This time the slikster manager or owner tried to up sell $2400 in repairs after having the car 5 hours. Passed on the repairs, but now needed two tires since it was a front which made sense. Never gave an estimate. Went to pick it up and the charge was $350.00. $250 more for the second tire with no estimate...WOW! Stay clear of anything other than fuel & oil! read more
