Bill Harvey, a senior tech master technician, was extremely kind and offered to take the keys to the car and hand it off to the tow truck when they came two hours later. This allowed our family to continue on our vacation with relatively little disruption. It was a completely unnecessary act of kindness and Bill was extremely generous with his time. Chris is the bomb. I was in a horrific hit and run sustaining multiple complications and damages to my vehicle. The shop my insurance provider directed me to has had my car on and off for almost 6 months. The car is still not repaired and not driving well. Took the car over to Harbor for a second opinion. The owner as well as Chris were remarkable. After spending at least 30 minutes with me, I was referred to another shop for more specific diagnosis care. That recommendation proved to be invaluable. In turn I was referred back to Harbor for an emergency repair related to the auto hit and run. Took our car in because there was a terrible sound when driving but we couldn't determine what the problem was. They were very friendly and asked that we leave our car because we didn't have an appointment so they would fit us in. They called and told us they located the problem and it was fixed! Absolutely love this Auto shop. It fits my schedule perfectly. PLEASE NOTE, if you work late & have a hard time finding mechanics that fit your schedule so you can drop off in the morning and pick up when you get off, this is the perfect Auto shop for you. I always drop my car off in the beginning of my shift then I'm able to pick up my car until 9pm from the gas station next door. I just pick up my keys and make the payment with the cashier. Sean is legit & generous, most mechanics try to scam you out of every penny but Sean keeps it honest every time & will recommend the right option for you. For example I needed to see Sean because there was a metal flap hanging from underneath my car, I also needed an oil change. I expected to pay for the auto repair & the oil change but instead Sean just charged me for the oil change. Now that's service. read more

Such a rip off. I tried to bring my Van in for a simple smog check. I brought the coupon for $20 off. The guy says he cannot honor it for a van? and he is sparing me the up charge? It's a smog check not a service and literally requires him to only plug a connection to the drivers area under my dash board. I would stay away from here since you never know what up charge they might apply and they do not even honor a coupon. read more

Did the smog check on my Nissan GTR bought from out of state, overall smooth service and reasonable price

The service manager is VERY PUSHY. He kept claiming that the diagnostic fee would be waived if I had him perform the work. ANY REPUTABLE MECHANIC/ DEALER WAIVES THE DIAGNOSTIC IF THE WORK IS PERFORMED! Refurbished alternator for $350?? Didn't even include labor. You can buy a brand new alternator for $200. My oil wasn't even checked. Pen marks by the ignition and oil marks on the door handle. read more

I called a few days ago and was told $49 for a smog check but there is a $20 coupon. I went in today with the coupon and was charged $49.25 and was told that that was the price, AFTER THE COUPON. My mistake for not CAREFULLY CHECKING THE PRICE BEFORE STARTING. I had gotten a price in San Juan Capistrano this morning which was 48.25 but thought it would be more convenient and cheaper to wait in Newport. Watch out! The coupon gives you the going rate or higher. There are some places advertising $30 plus certificate $8.25 The owner called the next day and apologized for the misunderstanding and was very gracious. He took care of the issue in a very satisfactory way for me. read more

Was told to come in Saturday morning for a smog check at 8 am. Showed up. The rude mechanic changed his excuse three times. First excuse "We don't do smog checks on your car", then I reminded him they did it before. Second excuse "we don't do smog checks on luxury cars", then again I reminded him that they did it before, and also how ridiculous that excuse sounded. Last excuse was "I am too busy to do it our schedule is backed up" and then proceeded to say "I am just the messenger" before walking away. He was the mechanic, not the messenger. Asked him his name..... Crickets. This is why some people will never get ahead in life. Lazy people like this guy. Avoid this one like the plague. Go down the street to the 76 station. The mechanic at this station saved me lots of money by being honest when another mechanic told me I needed a lot more work done. Their quote to repair was $90 versus $900 from another mechanic. They did the work six months ago and the car has been running like a champ ever since. They're also just super sweet and considerate there. I had a flat tire after having lunch with my boyfriend - he followed me to this place because it was the closest and I dreaded it. I am so glad we did! What a great crew! It turned out I just had a leaky valve and they REPLACED IT FREE!? How many service shops do anything free?? My husband came here today and spoke to the service advisor, Chris. He made the appointment for 12 noon to get our car smoged. When he arrived, Chris was there and greeted him with a smile, asked him about the car. My husband told him that he just bought the car off his mom and Chris advised him that he thought that if you transfer a car from a family member then you don't need to get it smoged and doesn't want to take our money if he doesn't have to, but should we want a smog anyways, he'll be happy to do that. Low and behold, he was right. Who does that? Talk about a very honest and friendly guy. I would definitely go back to them when I need a service. read more

I had the scariest experience at this gas station! I'm sharing it for several reasons, first & foremost for Safety!! One of their technicians, Chris, deliberately over filled my tires to the point that they had DOUBLE the amount of air they should have. I told him to only fill the front two. He ignored me & filled all 4. He was menacing & verbally abusive towards me, claiming that he gets bossed around all day & doesn't need another WOMAN telling him what to do! It made me feel very unsafe. Something was so very off with him. I had to take my car in immediately to the car dealership, as the overinflated tires made it dangerous to drive. In the end, the manager Shawn M. was dishonest with me. He claims to be all about customer service but lied about how he would accept responsibility for what had happened. I had a recent experience here that I would like to share. My son was losing air in his front tire coming home from work at Fashion Island. I told him to go to the Mobil station and ask for them to maybe plug the tire. I drove over to meet him. As I pulled up, he was speaking to one of the mechanics, an older guy with gray hair. This guy was completely rude, telling my son he shouldn't have driven because he ruined the tire by driving. He then told him they don't have time to fix it. My son pulled the car off to the side, and began to change the tire with his spare. He asked if he could use a luge wrench to take the tire off. The mechanic said no, then went on to tell him he could not change the tire on their property and he needed to drive off their property. This was very poor customer service and he treated my son very poorly and was very rude about it. This was unfortunate because I live in the area and they lost a customer. I would never go back patronizing this business. When you come to this gas station, they claim "service" is their specialty. I saw how they treated one of my family members who was in a bad spot and I would never go back and spend a nickel at that place. I would encourage anyone who reads this post to not go here. read more

If zero stars was even an option..Overpriced and WILL rip you off. For an oil change it is ridiculous, I was charged $111 and once I complained I was only refunded $10 back. The owner of the establishment did not even confront me about the price and I had to speak to another individual who tried to flash random awards at me to make himself look smart. STAY AWAY from this place if you're looking to change you're oil. You'll have better luck getting your oil change for around $40 from Groupon for a better value than here. This is a great place to have your car serviced. We've been there twice (two different cars). The first time was for a second opinion since we received a quote from another station in Corona del Mar a repair that would have been $900. Service manager at Harbor View took car for a test drive, assessed the problem (much different problem) and fixed it for a third of the cost! it's been driving beautifully for the past 3 months. I appreciate the quality of service and fair pricing at this station. We are now using them for our oil changes too! read more

Stay away from this place for smog checks. I brought my car in with appointment last Saturday August 20. Was told 45 minutes to one hour and they would call me if done earlier. After 50 minutes went back to garage and car was done. No one called me. I was just sitting in courtyard after shopping at Gelson's waiting for their call. Then more importantly three hours later my car started lurching forward and the check engine light came on. Neither of these issues occurred before the smog check was done and yes my car passed the smog check. I called on Sunday and no one could deal with my issue. I took my car back to my service garage and was without a car all of Monday the 22nd due to whatever they did to my car during the smog check. My garage spent hours unhooking and hooking things back up to get my car to work again. Will never go back to this garage again. Don't risk it. Even for the 20$ discount coupon for the smog check. Would give a negative star if I could. read more
