Wow, I'm sorry to write a bad review about any business and In fact this is my first. I've been using this tire shop for the past 15 years and remember how it was run when the owner Jerry, and his German shepherd King, were always around the front of the shop keeping an eye on things. In the past, when you walked in the front door Berge ( not correct spelling) would be standing behind the counter always ready to help you. My he rest in peace. Sadly that standard of customer service is gone. No staff at the front desk now to greet you. Let alone answer your questions. I felt I knew more than the tec who eventually took my order. I was then scheduled to come in the next day and have my tires installed. Arrived as directed and they took my car directly back to the shop and put it up on the lift. After starting it took just over 2.5 hours to finish. My vehicle literally sat unattended for over an hour before the technician showed up to complete the job. In the past it would take 1.5 hours tops for a straight forward tire install. In the past after they finished, they would take it for a test drive to be sure everything was good to go. Not any longer. In the past they would remind you about the free rotations and road hazard options available as a value add for their customers. Not any longer. Over all I felt like the place is no better than a local Costco shop. Not a knock on Costco being the cheaper choice but not what you expect from a premium priced shop. read more

I've been coming here exclusively since the early 90's. I loved the fact that it was a family business - and fondly remember great conversations with the owners about our love for our kids and dogs. The working crew was always really polite and helpful. And they still are. But I was really surprised by the disrespectful attitude of the young guy who seems managing the shop now. This is not the place to go for tires. They fought over the tip and did not seem to care about getting me out in a timely manner. A tall bald man was yelling at the people in the back and I could hear him through the door. It was so unprofessional and made me very uncomfortable. The cream of the crop for tires. They can get stock very quickly and are fair as a family owned company. They do work on very high-end cars as it is obvious seeing the cars being worked on, and, seeing the caliber of the clientele walking in and out. A recent review spoke about "a bald guy yelling." That is Jake keeping the workers in line, staying on top of the workers to use common sense, and no slacking around with Jake. I couldn't find my tire lock but they had one available. Out of convenience I went to a tire shop a half mile away. I couldn't find my lock and they didn't have a lock. They lost my business, where as professionals like Grand Prix had locks for various cars. Grand Prix is a high-end tire company and their prices are fair. After leaving the gym in a parking structure one night, I noticed my vehicle was driving unevenly. I figured it might be the uneven pavement in the parking structure, but when I exited, I was alerted that my rear driver side tire pressure was very low. I was able to drive my car home and parked it. I called the guys at Grand Prix Performance the following morning and they were able accommodate me the same morning so I drove my vehicle to the shop. They performed a thorough inspection and reported to me that they found a small hole in the tire and that they could patch it. I was incredibly relieved and within 30min or so, they had my car all patched up and ready to go IMO these guys could have made a killing with having me purchase a brand new performance tire for my Porsche but they were honest and helpful. I can't speak highly enough of their professionalism, honesty and high ethical standards. I've brought my previous vehicles to them in the past and they've always been reliable and reasonably priced. I would leave negative stars, but that's not an option. Went in for 2 new front tires. They managed to handle that but told us we need bushings too, that they would have to order the parts and to come back Friday morning. Asked for the grand total they said $460 Arrived this morning at 8:30 as instructed. Asked how long, was told no more than 2 hours but I'll see what we can do. After 2 hours and 15 minutes I asked how much longer? Was told "oh it's not easy job on this car, it's going to be at least another hour"! All the while I've seen 4 different customers come and go. The one manger, younger guy, bald head, was so rude about how it's not his problem things just take longer. I told him I understand that but what I don't understand is the lack of communication. If a problem arises they need to communicate. As I went back to wait longer, I hear said manager openly complain about me not liking to wait and how I don't understand I'm a hairstylist of 27 years, I get customer service and giving your client what they deserve and need. I let him know that I can hear him complaining about me and he said so I don't care! Now remember that total... my husband had already paid $390 Now I'm told I owe an additional $460. My husband is the most anal person I know and always gets all the info. It can be annoying sometimes. Well they just kept saying how my husband misunderstood them, and we still owed the total due. And the one manager that I spoke of earlier would not stop running his mouth on how it's not them it's my fault! I finally had to tell him to stop talking to me! The worst customer service I have ever had at a car repair establishment. Or anywhere for that matter. I highly recommend going anywhere else. read more

I just had the BEST experience at Grand Prix with Jake!! Today was the first time I have ever stepped foot in their business. I've seen it for years as a Costa Mesa resident and only wish I had come here sooner. Prior to coming in today I gave my business to Big O on 17th street. I felt like Big O was usually quick and reasonable. Big O told me it was irreparable because of where the nail was. I was quoted $237.72 for a new non name brand tire, with no warranty that was their cheapest at the time. I have previous experience in the tire industry and knew that the nail was in a very repairable area. Thank God they didn't have my size in stock or I might have purchased it as I drive a lot for work and want to be safe. To their credit they did add air and check it out which I appreciate. Grand Prix not only repaired my tire saving me $237 plus dollars but I was able to get an oil change at the same time. My tires have a good amount of tread left and I appreciate the fact that they were honest, speedy and the price was RIGHT!! I would give this place six stars if I could. I was next door at Matty's Patty's getting a burger with my sister, and when we finished I had a flat tire! (The next day she did too- avoid the Matty's Patty's parking lot, it's full of nails.) It was 5pm, dark out, I was far from home and stressed. I didn't know if Grand Prix Performance could help me, since they seemed like an upscale tire shop, but they were AWESOME. They even got my car out of Matty's parking lot and took it over themselves so I never even had to drive on the flat! Within an hour my tire was patched and I was good to go. They made the whole process so easy and regularly checked up with me during the hour to let me know how everything was going. Buyer beware. Why is it so difficult to find a mechanic that doesn't try to get over on you? Called for an estimate for an oil change. Gave them exact specs of my vehicle (2014 Toyota Camry LE and full synthetic oil). Was quoted $50. Thought to myself...Wow...that seems a little low but hey, great for me. Come time to get rung up for it...$140. Got charged for 6 quarts of oil when my specs show 4.5 quarts will fill it up. Be careful when dealing with this company. read more

So last weekend i was on my way out of town on a long drive to the high Desert and my tire pressure light came on , pulled over put air and it went off again but this time i drove home .pulled into Big O tires and was met with a grumpy stressed out manager so i sat outside and waited .... Ended up leaving called my mecanic and he was busy so my hubs said take it to Grand Prix !!! So happy i did !! They were unbelievably nice !! The young man at the desk was so warm and friendly took my car right away and even had to unpack my trunk ( lots of stuff) put it all back in and repaired my tire ( i had a screw staple thingy in the tire ) and was on my way . Took my car in there today and within 30 seconds of the mechanic being in my car he grinded my flywheel for a couple seconds, it was obvious the car was on, all the lights and clusters were on with the AC on, not to mention he was standing outside the car while it was running.. if this mechanic can't even tell if a car is on how am I supposed to trust his alignment job..? They told me they didn't record the changes and didn't hook it up to a machine. I asked him, you have no proof of the work you just charged me for? They said no, then they had the gall to blame my mechanic for tightening the tie rods too much and that's why their alignment documenting machine didn't get hooked up.. Then 5 minutes later after I called BS he said it was actually because he rushed the mechanic, unbelievable. Strike #3 lied to me about the tie rod bolts being too tight as a weak excuse for their hand in shoddy work. As I'm driving back to my mechanic I notice that the car is now jiggling when I go past 40mph.. unreal.. the wheel balance isn't even correct anymore. its worse off than when i brought it down there.. The people here are unprofessional, sarcastic, and will screw your car and you around. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this place.. They claim to be a "performance and professional" shop but what I saw here today was nothing short of people who claim to be professionals but aren't, on a customer service level and a actual service level, and that's not okay.. I left here today a very unhappy customer, I will never return for service, you'd be better off trusting the people at just tires.. In fact I'm going to go pay for a new allignment at just tires tomarrow, get the printout from them of the changes, and bring it down to grand prix just to show them all the work that needed to be edited after the hack job they did on my front suspension 24 hours later after a "certified alignment" just to prove to them that what they did to me today was not cool and honestly you should be sent to the BBB for pulling backdoor bs like this. Maybe it was a fluke? I don't know, well see what my mechanic has to say tomorrow when I get it back. I let him know when i dropped it back off that the grand prix directly pointed the finger at them saying it was their fault, It certainly wasn't jiggling on the way down there, there was no printout for the work allegedly done and now there's damage to my flywheel and suspension.. First impression looking like premium shop swag but pep boys level bs..
