Cosmic ray's starlight cafe is a Walt Disney world indoor cafe style eatery located in the Tomorrowland portion of magic kingdom park. Pretty unique in that it is a sit down establishment that has the more traditional quick eat/concession type foods with some decent options. The inside also features a cool animatronic music show that features a character named Sonny eclipse who is like a talk show host/lounge singer. Fun and cute little show that takes maybe 20-30 min to sit through and stays on repeat. Like all Disney eateries they are overpriced. Although this isn't the fine dining $50 a plate type eateries so it is a more affordable setup. You walk up to a concession area and place your order. They prepare your food then you take it to a register and pay. After that you are free to dine by Sonny eclipse or in a few other normal sit down type rooms. In the past here we have stuck with the classic pizzas, chicken tenders and burgers which taste the same at all places located inside all 4 of the major Disney world theme parks. My last visit I got a chili cheese dog and it was a different option then I've seen. It was massive actually! Kinda a pleasant surprise. The hot dog wasn't the greatest tasting. More of a sausage type. But it was still a Nice filling and different meal than I've had at Disney before. Overall we always enjoy starlight rays. The animatronics show is fun and unique and it gives you an affordable and comfortable place to sit down and dine indoors. read more

Best chicken strips on property. They don't have a lot of desserts or special drinks options but it's a good spot for a quick service meal with mobile order. Lots and lots of seating in a nice air conditioned space but the tables are very close together so it feels very stuffy and squishy. Avoid during MVMCP. Cookie pick up makes it insane. read more

A very good substitute We like going to the Tomorrowland Terrace when in the Magic Kingdom, it is a large place with tons of seating. It was also closed yesterday. They list it now as seasonally open. Disappointed, we looked for another place and came up with Cosmic Ray's. Turned out it was a very good substitute. Cosmic Ray's is another huge place. You order at food bays, order and pay at a register and walk forward to pick up your food one its ready. I didn't realize not all bays are the same until I read that in another review, but the bay I visited had something I wanted, a Greek style salad with chicken. The process was a bit slow. Once I had my food I searched for my wife, who had already found a table. My salad wasn't quite as good as I hoped, having had a similar salad a few days earlier with Grilled chicken at Animal Kingdom. This chicken for this salad wasn't grilled and wasn't purported to be. My husband and I decided to stop in at Cosmic Ray's for lunch while at Magic Kingdom. I love the mobile ordering process at WDW! It makes life so much easier - especially for me with being gluten free. My big complaint about eating gluten free anywhere in WDW is that it takes SO much longer than what it feels like it should take. I also, at the same time, don't want to complain because I know they are taking excellent care to prevent cross contamination and all that - which I appreciate! As with everything in WDW, it is expensive. However, this was one of the lesser expensive quick service places in MK. I ordered the hot dog, which came with fries, and hubs ordered a bacon cheeseburger. The hot dog was $12.29 and the burger was $12.79 (plus tax, of course). Y'all - this hot dog out Costco hot dogs to shame, size wise. This thing was SO stinking big there was no way I could eat it all! It was good! I do wish there were other toppings/condiments besides ketchup and mustard (I think there was relish, but I can't remember). I love sauerkraut on my hot dogs. It's a quirky, some may say outdated eatery. It's really basic and common park cafeteria food. But I'd say safe go to foods for kids. It may not be impressive to parents, but the offerings are something that kids are comfortable with. Sometimes they do have some really good specials, but it's rare. I highly recommend doing mobile order on the My Disney Experience app that way you can find a sit and wait until your order window is announced on your app. Plus the line for live in person order can get really long. It can get pretty crazy inside. There's always seating outside but indoors can be insane. Almost 99.9% of the times I've been in there, there has been a fight over indoor tables, especially the room where "Sonny Eclipse" is. Last trip i watched a grown man knock over a stroller with a baby in it to grab a table. Thankfully everyone around was up in arms for the poor family against that bad man. Pretty crappy. We didn't have high expectations for this, but it was easy to order in advance and it's a huge space so we knew we could at least count on it for sustenance. I think the biggest let down is that the chicken tenders were so subpar that my five year old wouldn't take more than one bite of them, and fellow parents, you know when you like..NEED your kid to eat something? Like they're in the worst imaginable mood and you've got a full day ahead of you at DisneyWorld and they'll feel immensely better if they just eat half of what's in front of them? Peak times are hard to find a table and it's a bit loud as people talk over the 1950s-60s themed music played by a (mostly) stationary mechanical dinosaur behind a piano. Found my way to Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe after approaching my beloved Casey's Hot Dog on Main Street and seeing a sign on the door that said to enjoy hot dogs at Cosmic Ray's. I don't think I've been to Cosmic Ray's since I was 10 years old, but I was willing to make the visit if it meant I could satisfy my Casey's craving. Not sure if we were just hungry or if they've just fused a majority of the quick service options into Cosmic Ray's, but my husband and I enjoyed our meal. It was an inexpensive meal that was priced accordingly to the fare of the food, quality, and quantity. If you're looking for a quick bite to eat with some classic theme park food (i.e. burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, etc.), Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe is a solid option. Located in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom, Cosmic Ray's offers diners a quick service option while visiting the park. During COVID, Cast Members (CMs) were stationed outside directing guests to order their food through the mobile system on the My Disney Experience (MDE) app. Since guests were not allowed inside without a text indicating their order was ready, CMs were outside assisting guests with placing their mobile orders. They were helpful and patient working with families. The wait time for the food once we placed our order through MDE was reasonable. A notification was sent to my phone to let me know our order was ready, in which we were directed to the pickup area where the registers are located. Our order was pretty straightforward. My hubby had a bacon cheeseburger with fries and I had a chili cheese hotdog with Cuties. The food was good and did its job of getting us full. The chili cheese hotdog was massive, but super delish! Good amount of chili and cheese and a nice soft bun. Definitely shareable. The burger and fries were pretty standard. Nothing too memorable, but nothing to make you grossed out. Although Cosmic Ray's may not generally be on my top quick service options at Magic Kingdom, it is one of the few open right now and is doing the job to fill the void of many of our quick service favorites. Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe is currently one of the few options opened at Magic Kingdom with the reduced hours. It is a quick service location. You can order via mobile or through stand-in line. The mobile ordering is much quicker though. Once you've placed your mobile order and after its ready, you'll be able to enter the Cafe. The process was pretty easy placing the mobile order through the disney world application. My daughter and I had selected the following [1] Kids Meal - Chicken Tenders, French Fries [1] Bacon Cheeseburger with French Fries The meal came out to be approximately $32.00 for the order, which isn't too bad. There is plenty of seating inside this restaurant. At the center of the restaurant, there is a singing alien at the center stage. He sings a variety of songs and it's not too loud where you're unable to hear other party members. The food was pretty good and filling. My daughter ate all of her chicken tenders and french fries which she enjoyed. The tenders looked juicy and not dry. The Bacon Cheeesburger tasted typical of a quick service. When it comes to good quick service places at Magic Kingdom, the pickings are indeed slim. However, of the options they have, I often find myself coming back to Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. Located in Tomorrowland, this quick service eatery has a variety of standard theme park/fast food fare, like hamburgers and chicken strips. They also have some chicken sandwich options, salads and some plant based items. Mobile ordering here is definitely easier and faster than ordering in-person. Usually when I've ordered in-person the workers get very kerfuddled (and since I'm usually in the parks by myself and only ever order one thing, it makes it all the more baffling.) But for the most part the cast members that I've come across that work here have all been very pleasant. The theming is adorable. It's got that retro future/space vibe to it, as it is in Tomorrowland, but the main highlight is in the largest dining room where you can see Sonny the alien singing songs and playing his electric keyboard. This animatronic is just classic non-IP Disney magic, and it's fun to sit and watch him. At least when it's not busy. Most of the time that particular dining hall is jam packed with families, and during special events the space is used for the Disney Junior Dance Parties, making the space and especially the noise extra chaotic. The food is for the most part, average at best or straight up nasty at worst. They have a tendency to change out menu items from time to time. For example, during the 50th Anniversary celebration they had this spicy chicken sandwich that was the BOMB! Literally the tastiest thing I had ever eaten at that restaurant! But then they got rid of it, only to replace it with a different spicy chicken sandwich that didn't use the same type of chicken Pattie's the previous sandwich had, so it wasn't nearly as good. The best time to eat here is right before park closing. Not only is it not as busy, but the food actually tastes better that late. I can't explain the logic, but those chicken tenders hit different that late at night. All in all, Cosmic Ray's is an adorable quick service location at Magic Kingdom. While the food is nothing special and the quality is hit or miss, it's better than the other quick service locations at Magic Kingdom. Trust me when I say, get the chicken strip meal around closing. Nothing fancy but it's a cozy gathering spot to take a break for lunch. The food isn't too bad, and the portions are OK. The fun part of this spot is the animated alien lounge lizard guy telling cheesy jokes and singing at the piano in the center of the dining room. Unpopular opinion: I like dining at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. Hear me out before you dismiss me... We paid $55 for lunch as a family of four. One adult spends more than that to dine at Be Our Guest, The Crystal Palace, or Cinderella's Table. Is the food great at Cosmic Ray's? No, but it's not great anywhere in Magic Kingdom. I always order the 1/3 pound angus bacon cheeseburger with fries. My husband orders the same and we always split the foot long hotdog with fries between our two young toddlers. The option of swapping an orange for the fries is available if you want to limit your junk food intake. The chili fries are awful and I have never been brave enough to order the salad, but if you stick with the burgers and hotdogs it's a safe bet. The food is not gourmet, but it's better than McDonalds. Tip: Order on the Disney app so you can hunt for a table inside the air conditioning instead of wasting time in line. read more

When I was here, not only were the lines long, the service was extremely slow and very disorganized. One would think the happiest place on Earth would know when the kitchen should be ready to make orders especially at the height of lunch hour... 12-2pm ET is the busiest time... Very disappointed! Didn't take too long to order from the menu on the various lines...However, getting the order afterwards was the problem. It took over 30 minutes to get my grilled chicken sandwich. Had I not already paid, I would have walked out. Everyone in front of me was complaining too. When asked why it was taking so long, the excuse was there were a lot of orders for chicken including chicken salad... Sorry, but that's not a good excuse. I don't recall the service this bad when I was here last time. The staff did ask if folks wanted a burger instead...Uh no! I order chicken for a reason, I already had a burger the day before. Also, chicken is healthier...and no, I don't want a salad without chicken either. However, the cafe is spacious and turnover to get seats isn't bad. Once you finally get your meal, go to the toppings bar. Don't recommend going during the prime rush time for lunch or even dinner... go before the crowds rush or be prepared to wait over 30 minutes for food. read more

This October was our first visit to Cosmic Ray's and we had a great lunch there. We needed a pit stop from the heat and walking so I asked if my family of 4 would be interested to split a couple of burger platters. My husband ordered at the front counter and came back quickly with our food. The bacon cheeseburger was cooked well and the bacon was crispy. It definitely hit the spot! The restaurant is much bigger inside than I'd have guessed. A couple tiers of seating plus on the patio. Cosmic Ray's also has a singing "alien" and he's actually entertaining without being annoying or forcing you to scream over the singing. Entrees qualify as a dining plan quick service. read more

Although we didn't see the performance, we had a great meal as a family! My toddler had the Uncrustables Sandwich which came with Apple Sauce, a mandarin, french Fries and a 1% milk, wow great deal for all they get and plus she enjoyed it! For my lunch I ordered the Greek Salad with Chicken, the dressing was very flavorful, chicken nice and moist and veggies all very fresh! I would highly recommend checking out this space themed café while you're in Magic Kingdom and we look forward to coming back again! I have never had the desire to go to Cosmic Ray's, or even find where the hell it is. All I knew about it was that it was a normal counter service place, with an alien animatronic figure playing keyboard. Such a weird sentence, but hey it's Disney. This last trip my son was taking a nap in the stroller after we slogged across the entire park to find the baby nursery (which was bullshit because they moved it, and even when we got there they didn't allow strollers). This forced us to find a quick food options in Tomorrowland. Rather than eat the foot long hot dog my in laws got me for some God-forsaken reason (looked more like a nightstick than something edible), I looked up that Ray had a sriracha chicken sandwich. Ordered that shit, my son some allergy friendly (milk) chicken tenders, and was on my way. They have 'bouncers' guarding the mobile order entrance which is very odd, even if they were nice. Might be a Covid thing as the restaurant is indoors. Coming in all the lanes are marked, with the majority being for mobile orders. Took a minute for my food to be ready even though I confirmed I was there, which gave me time to load up on condiment packets at the remnants of the salad bar. Once I got it, it was about what I expected it. Chicken sandwich was decent, although I would've liked more sriracha and the cheese hadn't melted at all. Chicken quality was typical Disney but they did just enough to elevate it. Fries were ok and the condiments helped. My son liked his chicken so all was right with the world. 2022 update. I gave a bad review to Cosmic Ray's a few years ago. I can't say it's a great place, but it is better! First, use mobile ordering. Second, use mobile ordering. I had the special 50th Anniversary pulled pork sandwich with chili fries (Walt's recipe!) and a cake pop. It was mediocre, which is an improvement. The plant-based offering is a vegan burger -- mediocre! Also an improvement over their vegan "sloppy joes." Fries? You guessed it, mediocre! But an improvement. What has not changed and is TERRIBLE are the sodas. There's a strange taste to them. It's either a bad cleaning process (or lack of one) or dirty ice. Cosmic Rays is our go to place for a meal when we're at Magic Kingdom. We usually gravitate towards the right side of the park and begin in Tomorrowland and Fantasyland and this is a central location to grab a bite when we want to sit inside the a/c. Their options are pretty basic but there will be something for everyone. Burgers, Chicken Tenders, Hotdogs, and Salads are mostly served here.There have self serve condiment stations so they have all the fixings you'll need. We use mobile ordering, find a place to sit, and wait till they call us when the order is ready. Okay so this is officially the only meal I'll eat at Magic Kingdom, I'm so glad I discovered it!! To say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement! I go to Disney 3-5 times a year and this is the first relatively healthy meal I've come across that wasn't a salad. I got the half rotisserie chicken with double green beans instead of green beans and macaroni and cheese. The green beans were relatively al dente and not soggy, while the chicken was moist and juicy. Also they have a plant-based sloppy joe here so that was cool to see! I didn't try that but appreciate Disney branching out from burgers and fries. The tasty food with AC and a great view of the castle, I really enjoyed my meal here! read more
