We had our initial system installed in 2016 and upgraded the inverter and added panels in 2023. We just received a true up bill for $4500. My fault, I haven't tracked my solar for a while. I checked my Solar Edge and SDGE and found out my inverter hasn't been generating power since 6/25. Starting 3 days ago, I've left phone message, texts and many emails with NO RESPONSE.Maybe Precision is out of business. One way or the other, I'm contacting several other installers. I spoke with Solar Edge directly. I was told the unit is faulty. They are sending me a new unit today. So now looking for a good installer. I would avoid this horrible company. read more

First, let me say we had our solar installed by Precision about 10 years ago, and we were happy with the install. However, as far as servicing their product, they are terrible. Our system has not been working, and we put in several calls and emails to Precision over the course of one week to come look at it and fix the problem . We have yet to hear from them. Micah and Matt were great. I discarded my FAFCO panels (kept my sensor, controller, and valves) in January 2024 since they were almost 20 years old and got tired of patching leaks. Micah provided a very good quote well below my other 2 quotes. Matt came out and installed the 8 panels. Unfortunately 3 Sunstar panels leaked (not Precision Solar's fault) which was discouraging but Matt replaced them the next day and they are working perfectly (glad there is a 12 year warranty) In the process my sensor wasn't working properly and Matt replaced it as well. Also during the checkout, my valve actuator did not work properly and Matt immediately pulled it apart, tightened the loose nut, and got it working properly. Great Service at a great price! Living near the coast, I enjoy having a pool, but with May gray and June gloom as well as cool evening temperatures, my pool was always colder than I would have liked, as a result it didn't get as much use as it should. Almost to the point we had considered removing our pool. We had considered getting a gas or electric heater, but I didn't want to have a $500 SDG&E bill. When I heard about pool solar and saw some other houses in my neighborhood had it, I shopped around and found Precision Solar. I was impressed with their salesman Mike, and he and Micah designed a pool solar system that would fit on my roof as well as not tear up my yard (as one other company proposed). The installation went very smoothly and and we have been very happy with it. Precision Solar has been around for a number of years and is not a fly by night company. They are available for questions and support. I appreciate Jeni with the office staff answering or relaying my question. If your pool is too cold or your pool heater is causing you to have huge electrical bills, I would definitely recommend Precision Solar. read more

Very very sad! Nothing Micah said was true except he did remove 3 solar panels so the roofers could repair the leak that was caused by Precision Solar. He did that because he knew he was responsible but refused to pay the roofers for the repair. After 6 months HIS insurance company PAID the claim for the the leak repairs and for the ceiling repair in the bedroom from water damage. The claim would have been settled earlier if Micah didn't tell his own version and make up something the roofer never said. I had to do a lot of extra work showing pictures before, during, and after the repair. The only tiles that the roofing company replaced were directly in the path/around the solar panels that Precision Solar either glued broken pieces together or didn't bother repairing at all. The leak was DIRECTLY underneath the solar bracket which was drilled/cut through. I just wanted Micah to do the right thing from the beginning. He should have taken care of the roofing repair cost at the time of the repair and not deny responsibility for 6 months. When getting solar done I would have a company who specializes in roofing and have in writing they will cover any damages done by the solar panels. read more

They installed solar for my pool and recently relocated the panels to make way for a new electric PV system. Because we had to relocate the panels, the pool is not as warm as it once was (not their fault). I want to install additional panels and wanted Precision to do the job. I've tried repeatedly to call and email to arrange for additional panels. Unfortunately no one ever responds -- I can't imagine how many other would-be customers experienced the same and have turned to someone else. 5 stars for excellent installers / ZERO stars for non-existent customer service :-( read more

WOW! is how I would describe my experience from start to finish. I had done extensive research, interviewed several companies and had actually decided on another company. It just so happened I called Precision Solar just before signing on with the other company. Mike discussed my project (which was quite large and complicated) and promised he could beat anyone else's price . He had no idea what I had been quoted. Sure enough, his quote was more than 20% less than the lowest quote I could get for exactly the same system. The work started and completed on time, exactly as promised. The owner Micah was at the work site overseeing and helping complete the project. Very focused and meticulous ! While the install was progressing, my house electric panel needed an additional device to match the solar system. This was unforeseen and due to the age of my house. I was told it would cost an additional $300 which I agreed to as it was an issue on my end. However, after the entire project was completed the bill was exactly as quoted and Precision did not billed me for the $300 . I promptly reminded Precision Solar of the oversight but they did not want to charge me the $300. They felt ethically they had to stick to the quote initially given even though the additional expense was due an issue with my house. Very commendable ! Besides the 20% savings , Mike advised me not to replace my existing pool thermal panels which other companies had advised. This saved me another $8,000. Mike checked the pool thermal panels and reported they were in fine condition. He even moved them to a new location free of cost. All the other companies were ready to sell me new panels. They told me that moving panels may cause leaks and could not guarantee results. It has been about 6 months and everything is working great! I recommended Precision Solar to my nephew . He had his Solar system installed with Precision Solar with the same experience. It not often we find a company that does what is right for the customer. Precision Solar is the best. They saved me $20,00.00 over the top 4 solar companies and their work and attention to detail was more craftsmanship than construction. Except for a beautiful ground mount solar array, you would never know they were here. Mike and Micah came out with a cool global positioning devise that measures the year round sunlight output and the spot Mike had suggested was perfect. Mike worked up an itemized quote and we were ready to rock. The great ladies in the office took care of all of the permitting and HERO financing paperwork. The heavy lifting was done by 2 super guys who worked so hard I couldn't watch for very long. It was very hot. Great job on every level. Writing an update to my review. Precision did not actually paint the side of the house. They just left dust and material on the wall so it appeared to have been painted. Very shoddy work and lousy cleanup. Our landscaper also has advised us that when they took out the grass, it appears that they covered the sprinklers, so dirt backed up in the system and clogged other sprinklers and the grass died. They are refusing to replace the grass that they killed. Remember from my previous review that they were supposed to run the line through the flowerbed and I came home one day to find my lawn dug up without my permission and in breach of the contract. The owner Micah also told us that he saw the leaks and did nothing about them. They waited until we saw the leaks ourselves and complained. The is one company to avoid at all costs unless you want shoddy work, non-communication and damage to your home surroundings such as I experienced above. Worst installation and customer service ever. First off, they did not start on the date that was promised. Then, after agreeing on a design for the system and reminding them twice again before they began the installation, I came home from work to find that they had decided themselves, without any discussion with us, to move the agreed upon lines to under my grass, instead of the flowerbed. This of course made the installation easier and cheaper for them. Now the grass is dead or dying. It appears that they never came back to tend to the grass even when they knew we were away on vacation. We then went on vacation and they promised that the job would be completed and ready for use by the time we returned. We had people at the house to provide any access that they needed. When we came home from vacation there were two massive leaks from the solar system on the roof that had been continuing for days. It appears to me that they never tested the system. They also removed a plant that hid my A/C system and it is now dead. We advised Mike the sales guy and Micah the owner of these issues a couple hours ago and we have failed to even receive a response. Absolutely horrible work and terrible customer service and non-communication. You should avoid this company at all costs unless you want to deal with the shoddy work, non-communication and damage to your home surroundings such as I experienced above. read more

This is a high integrity company! We had them install solar panels in 2016. All was well until we noticed a sharp increase in power consumption after we started using an EV. So, we called them and asked them to come install more panels. Their first response was to troubleshoot the system and consider the possibility that we do NOT need to purchase more panels. So I bought a house with a pool and a spa... which was great until I jumped in and realized it needed to be heated to use even in the summer. After getting the first bill I thought, well I probably shouldn't have bought a house with a pool. Then I met Mike, who actually sold me my pool fence (which I love), and told me about the benefits of solar. A few weeks later, I had Mike come back and share with me the different solar heating options... boy were there many. Mike recommended the SunStar product due to it's superior technology, low maintenance costs, and appearance. After weighing the costs/benefits of each option (and exploring several vendors) I came to the same conclusion that I did when purchasing my pool fence... Mike knows what he's talking about and the companies he represent offer the best products you can buy. I ended up going with the SunStar system and Micah's team did the install. They beat the other vendor's prices, while offering a vastly superior product. The most important part of the deal for me is that they stand by their work... even if it wasn't necessarily their fault. A few days after the solar was installed, the existing plumbing lines they tied into sprung a leak and flooded part of my yard. They came over the next morning, fixed the leak, and took the extra step to replace the grass that had to be turned over. I was very happy with their workmanship and prompt response turn-around. I recently purchased a house that had a pool with a solar heating panel. The panel got a leak so I called the company that installed the system, which was not precision solar. They provided terrible service, missed the first appointment, and overcharged me. After that experience I decided to go with precision solar for a second opinion. The tech- Gene- was amazing! We had Solar Pool Heating panels installed by Precision Solar and love them. The whole process was very easy. Mike came over and checked it out. A few days later he came back with the designs and payment. About a week after that Micha and team installed. Mike told me we could get about a 11-13F bump in temperature. He was exactly right. Day before installation water temp 68F in mid-April. Day after installation water temp. 81F As of yesterday (June 1) we are at 88F which is perfect for the family to swim in. I contacted four different solar companies for pool solar estimates. I chose a competitor based purely on lowest price. In retrospect I wish I had gone with Precision Solar (which was only slightly more) Mike has 30 years of experience. He isn't a huge corporation playing a numbers game while overlooking customer service. While the other three companies emailed me estimates based on a Google Maps satellite view measurement, Mike came out to the house, measured my pool, looked at my setup. He sat and answered all of my questions. He followed up with me on several occasions. The clear impression I received from all the companies is that pool solar is pretty straight forward. Guessing who is a great installer vs who isn't is a crapshoot. Having said that, err on the side of those who favor customer service, because when you invest $4-7k in something like pool solar, great customer service goes a long way. read more

I contacted Precision Solar about replacing my solar panels that were leaking. Two other companies came out and gave me estimates to replace them. When Mica came out, he examined the panels and said he could fix them without replacing them. True to his word, he fixed them for about one-fifth the cost of replacing. Over a year later, they are still working with no leaks. I referred them to a real estate client whose panels were leaking, and Gene came out the same day and fixed them for a fraction of what my clients were expecting to pay. They were blown away! Precision Solar did our solar installation 1 1/2 years ago and we could not be happier. We had pretty high electricity usage due to having a pool and a lot of electronics in our house and Micah came out mapped out our system and estimated our solar production and how much our electricity bill will be after the solar is installed. I am happy to report that after our first 12 months of solar production our electricity bill for the entire year was $60. Now that we have installed a new high efficiency heating and cooling system I anticipate having credits with SDGE instead of owing money. Micah did solar installations for 2 of my neighbors at the same time and they are thrilled with their systems as well. When they did the install they did an amazing job. They even went as far as painting the conduit and junction boxes on the roof and side of the house to match the colors so you don't hardly even notice them. I have nothing but good things to say about this company. We bought a house that had all of the plumbing for the solar but no panels (they were taken down when the house was re-roofed). We called and spoke with Mike. He gave us a quote and was done with all of the work within two days. We love our solar panels!
