I would love to rate this place but the arrogance of the staff prohibited that from happening. Friday afternoon we decided to order pickup pizza from Cosmos. Saw they had a way to order online so we placed our order at 4:00 for three of their regular pizzas. Website said we could pickup the pizza's at 5:15. We paid with Apple Pay and were all set, so we thought. Started getting ready at 4:45 to make my way up to the store. My daughter said let me call just to make sure they'll be ready. The lady on the phone said they tried to call us to let us know our order would be "pushed back a little". Since we didn't answer they canceled our order. I didn't realize I had to hang by my phone so if Cosmos called we could run to the phone to answer their call. The lady said it is now pushed back to 7:15 since we didn't answer the phone when they called. She said if we didn't like it then good luck getting pizza from another place since it was now 5:00. WOW! Classic case of having too many customers so who cares if you piss off a few. With only a 3.5 star rating I wouldn't declare myself as a top notch restaurant. We called back and talked to some young guy who said it is what it is. When I asked for the manager he hung up on me. My main question is why would you have online ordering that tells you can pickup your pizza at 5:15 when that is clearly not true. We called Big Slice pizza and they loved to hear the story about one of their competitors. They actually got our pizza order ready with 45 mins and it was actually really good. Let me begin by declaring I'm a pizza snob otherwise maybe this place gets a 4. Ok crust, good sauce, very good toppings. I LOOOOOOVE good crust, good sauce and good toppings. I've tried arguably the best pizza from Maui, Hawaii to downtown NYC at Grimaldi's under the Brooklyn bridge. If you're looking for pizza I think this is about as good as you will find at the Outer Banks. After a day at the beach and no wait, (unlike Uncle Ike's hour wait), we were excited. Crust could be crispier but good chew and was not greasy. SKIP THE FAMOUS crab pizza that costs $$$, not worth it. They skimp on the crab and it is very small shredded pieces. I thought it was just me, but my wife also agreed the flavor is not good. We had a group of 10 and they easily handled us. They messed up our order but gave us a free pizza and I thought did a great job of making things right. read more

This used to be our favorite pizza place when in Corolla. We hadn't been here in a couple of years and it has gone downhill. Pizza just isn't as good as it used to be. The gluten free pizza for our daughter tasted pretty good, but made her very sick that night after eating it. Cross contamination is a problem. Bummer. read more

We are from NJ and know what good pizza taste like. While down here on our family vacation we tried three of the local pizzerias during our stay. Our kids love pizza. First try was Lucky's, next was Corolla, three times was the charm. By far the best of the three, Cosmos, wasn't even close. Tasted like normal pizza we are used to. Not like frozen crust you get in the supermarket. From now on it is only Cosmo's for us. We had a plain cheese, a meat lovers, garlic knots, and a chicken Parm hero. All were great. Reviews were all over the place about where to get the best pizza in the OBX. Pizzaz Pizza, Duck Pizza, Waves, blah, blah, blah. Which one is accurate? Go with the one source you can trust! The stoned Jeff Spicoli dude cleaning the pool at our vacation rental! Before long, we were "Learning about Cuba and having some food". I was going to call in our order, but saw on their website that they had a bar. Why not have my wife drive us up to the restaurant, order the pizza, and have a couple of beers? Glad I did. They had some reasonably priced craft beers that went down well while the pizza was being baked. The bartender was a great guy and we enjoyed talking with him. Two beers later, our hot delicious pepperoni and mushroom pie was ready. Stoner pool cleaner made an awesome recommendation. Give Cosmo's Pizza a try. Well worth the drive. Dude. read more

This is some AMAZING pizza!!! It really is!!! We stopped in after some friends suggested we try it for pizza. They have all the typical toppings, including crab! Prices are slightly high, but service is decent. The taste of the crust and proportions of toppings, sauce, etc is great! Service was just OK, but wasn't bad. We have ordered from here the past several summers while going to OBX. The food quality, particularly the pizza has gone downhill. The pizza was very greasy with a really odd aftertaste. This is a fantastic place if your willing to get messy! As an appetizer I ordered the mozzarella sticks, they gave me 7 instead of 6 . I ordered the meatball parm sub for the main course, which was really good except that the bread was a tad soggy. It came with a bag of chips and pickle. The place itself was VERY busy and they gave us a 25 minute wait, which turned into none when they cleared a table for us. The service was fantastic! We went there on a Sunday evening in October and the place was crowded as it was one of only a handful of places open. The pizza was truly delicious as were the garlic knots. Pricewise, it was what you would expect to pay at a normal pizzeria in a resort town. We got takeout (did not call in ahead) and it took about 30 to 40 minutes to get our food which was expected because of how busy they were while also short two staff members. My reason for three stars was there was no air conditioning to speak of inside the place. With an unseasonably warm night, I don't see how anyone could eat inside there as hot as my wife and I were. If that situation were resolved I would change my review to four or maybe five stars because of the food's quality and the service we got from the overworked staff. read more

There were a couple of things that were not great about my experience at Cosmos Pizza. First off, they got my online order wrong. Second, nobody inside of cosmos, including the employees, were wearing masks. I get that that is their right, but it's very uncomfortable. Grabbed lunch here on our second day at the beach based on the proximity and reviews. We tried two different pizzas including a plain and half pepperoni/half mushroom. I was a little surprised by the prices as the pizzas start at $14.99, which is frankly too much for these. The pizzas were decent, a little salty, with a sweet sauce. Sauce wasn't the main attraction as the pizza had a lot of dough and chewy crust. Not a bad lunch option, and I hear tell that aren't many pizza decent options in the Outer Banks. read more

Every time my family comes down to the OBX we get Cosmos at least once - usually carry out. It's always very good. Great place for beer drinkers, as they have a variety of craft options. Not sure if we hit it on a bad night or since it was mid October, they weren't on-point but none of us liked the pizza. it had twice as much sauce as cheese and the sauce had spices too strong for pizza sauce. it was not very tasty at all. They went on to say if we wanted to re order it would take over two hours to be ready. They were also extremely rude and hung up on us when we asked why they canceled our order. Our group of 9 visited during Spring break, so we had to wait about 20 min. We didn't think it was that bad a wait considering it was packed. We ordered 3 pizzas and an Italian hoagie. It was the meaty, veggie and 1/2 plain and 1/2 pepperoni. We are from NJ/Philly and considering that, it was pretty good pizza. We have tried many places in OBX, and the dough is usually way too thick, but Cosmos was nice and thin, except the crust. We would definitely go back again. Cosmos a good little spot in Corolla light that is a staple in our vacation every year. But let's call a spade a spade you go there for the comradery the food is average. The boneless wings are ok we couldn't order normal because there is some sort of shortage which is unheard of because I can to food lion and buy like 13 packs of Chicken wings but whatever. The pizza you can take it or leave it it's no New York pizza but it gets the job done it's better than that giant pie place. One thing I don't understand is why they took out half the seating area for a gift shop which is the main reason we waited 45mins before being seated. The service was good but didn't understand why the drinks were self serve because when I go to restaurant and sit down I expect to be served but besides that can't complain they treated us well. The garlic knots aren't very good tasted like warm car tires if we are being honest really had no flavor as well as the marinara sauce. I got a cheese pizza for carry out and thought it was decent. It didn't exactly exceed any expectations I had but my dad really enjoyed their crust since the pizza wasn't greasy at all. We ordered food a few times during our vacation. On one occasion, we ordered a plain cheese pizza for pickup at 6:28pm on a week day off season. The stated wait was 25 minutes. When we arrived at 7pm, the pizza was ready but we had to wait a bit as there was one person working. Not sure how the experience would be like during peak hours in the summer, but ordering before you are hungry is probably a safe bet. We also ordered bread sticks on other occasions. The restaurant looks unassuming externally, but the inside is big. The pizza was great! The crust is hand tossed and freshly made. There's a right balance of cheese and tomato sauce. The pizza does not taste too salty like most commercial chain restaurants do to try to hide the fact their ingredients are not fresh. Will definitely go back. The bread sticks are the best we have ever tried. They were huge and not too salty, in a twisted style like the Chinese crullers. You may want to ask for extra dipping sauce because they only give a smaller jar. If you order online, you can even save $5 off $15 or more of your first order.
