I had to pay twice $40 doing a smog check with this crooks because of the obd2 wasn't reset! If you can pay 5dollars more elsewhere and they guarantee your free re-test go for it! My original intent was to walk in and ask about pricing, but I ended up being a customer instead. I have never been here before or did any prior research, but was in the area for an appointment nearby so it was convenient to stop in. They had just finished servicing another customer the moment I walked in, so they walked me through the pricing. They estimated about $68.20, but they applied a $20 discount for service and certification. It brings the total to roughly $48-ish. They asked for the keys and brought my car around to their station for testing. In a flash of five minutes, I had passed the smog check test and I was well on my way. I was surprised to find great service and they were so welcoming as soon as I entered in. They have been around for over 20 years!! The shop has a ton of vintage decorations and although it was super tiny, they did offer a nice waiting area that was covered. Came here for a needed smog check. It was my first time ever getting one as I've only driven for 4 years in my life. I found this place that is down the street from me. Robert the owner greeted me and was super sweet! It took about a 10 min waiting time and provided me the certificate of proof it passed and that it sent to the DMV. If they offered other services for cars in the future I'd 100% go! Thank you again!! Also many people will complain about prices, everything went up in California and everyone needs to be able to pay their rent as well for their business and their personal bills. I picked this place because they have a great overall rating on yelp and now I'm adding to it. It's a small little garage in the back of a lot behind a car wash, so a bit difficult to find, but there are signs that you can follow. If your car isn't super old and/or unique, a basic smog check will cost you just under $50. It's a buck or two cheaper if you pay cash. I called in advance to see if there was a wait, so I'd recommend doing that. I was in and out of there in less than 15 minutes. The guys were very friendly. This is a small business and you can feel it as soon as you walk in. This was the quickest and easiest smog check to date. Two lovely gentlemen attended me and I have only compliments to describe them: sweet, knowledgeable, and friendly. I simply asked for the cost of a smog check and he said $59.95 (which is reasonable) but then he stated that they have an online coupon for $20 off and automatically deducted that from my total without hesitation. I paid with debit card (which is a $1.50 cost) but didn't charge me since it's my first time. All in all, this is an amazing place to come and get a smog check if you are in a hurry. The place if full of beautiful plants. In my opinion they would probably make some serious money if they sold those too. I complimented their plants (since I love plants) and told one man that I have such difficultly growing one type of plant, which he grabbed off the wall and gave it to me. It's with a heavy heart I write this review. We own a small dealership and take 30-50 cars per year here for smog checks. We've been coming here for many years. We have easily given them hundreds of cars to smog check not including all the local clients we've referred. My business partner is my dad who's 77-years old. He helps me out by driving most of our cars to get smog checks done. Today, the owner of this business literally yelled at my dad and used the F-word multiple times. My dad was shocked as he has never treated them this way. The car was an older Porsche and my dad explained to the normal tech who helps us what to do. The tech suggested that my dad drive the car onto the dyno for the test. So, my dad did as instructed. The owner went into a rage and screaming fest. This was so uncalled for and borderline abusive. Not only will we take our smog test business elsewhere, but we will also encourage all of our West Costa Mesa clients to go somewhere else. It's just not worth the risk of getting yelled at by an owner who is apparently off his meds or took the wrong dose. read more
