Maybe they were just having a bad night? Dinner took 1.5 hours after sitting for main meal to be ready. We ended up canceling 1 of the 2 meals and took the other to go -terrible. At minimum I expected the manager or owner to come out and apologize or even just comp the 2nd dinner we waited for (maybe it was STILL not made)...nope neither happened! Too bad -that may have saved the night and from possibly giving them a 2nd chance. The waitress/bartender was vey nice though, very friendly. For locals in this area who remember the old Mike's Restaurant in Fairhaven this is the next generation of the Costa family. They are back with some of the old time favorites. My husband had the lasagna that was so large it covered the plate brim to brim. BTW he ate every morsel. Noodles were Al dente just like " Nonna" makes. I ordered Chicken Marsala which arrived with two large pieces of chicken smothered with mushrooms in a fabulous Marsala sauce. I'm thrilled I will have left overs. We were too full for dessert but I couldn't pass up homemade grapenut. pudding so I got it to go. The service was gregarious and prompt just as it should be in all restaurants. On my 3rd visit, but 1st on the restaurant, the service and did was as amazing! My mother and I both had the English cut of prime rib(very tender), potatoes wedges (like crispy baked potatoes), and sauteed mixed veggies. I love their fish and chips! So yummy and never greasy. Fresh, crispy, good value for the money, perfect! I only eat fish and chips there, Im spoiled. Friends have had other dishes there and rave about them as well, really great chicken parm. But, if it's a Wednesday or a Friday, that's when the fish and chips are on the menu and that's what Im ordering! By the way, the waitresses are always friendly and aim to please, they always do! I have been to Costa's a few times but final had the opportunity to try the Prime Rib, and now I see why they always sell out. It was delicious and cooked perfectly, and just the nice home cook type meal I needed at the end of busy day. My daughter ordered the clam chowder and pesto pizza. Of course, I had to sample her meal too :) It didn't disappoint. I'm usually not a chowder person but this was tasty and can see why it is one of their popular items. The pizza here is definitely the best in the area and I highly recommend. We didn't have any desserts last night, but we always enjoy them when we ordered in our previous visits. read more

AMAZING. I had linguini and clams with white sauce. In my experience, you can get shafted on the clams, but the clam game was STRONG!!! Abundant, fresh and cooked to order. Food is always great. The staff is very accommodating and very friendly. I find I go there at least once a month and have been going here for at least ten years. It's a casual environment but very comfortable. Their soup specials are always something I look forward to and have started bri going some home. You can get it in pint containers. I recommend the tomato, cream of chicken and squash. Never a disappointment. Mike the owner is great. I forgot my credit card once and he said just call back with the numbers when you get home. That made me a believer in the kind of home town business attitude they had! I'll continue eating here trying everything without disappointment. read more

All of our food was delicious and large portions, however the table service was insanely slow. Our server had to be flagged down multiple times just to get drink refills etc. We also saw other nearby tables seated after us getting their meals first. No offer of bread, free app or round of drinks to keep us happy while waiting approx 40 mins for our main dishes. Meanwhile the AC couldn't keep up with the open kitchen situation which left the dining room hot and uncomfortable. Went today for lunch, it was my first time in this little place. The food was very good. I got the vegetable panini and an order of calamari. I really liked the two items I picked off the menu. The panini reminded me of a spinach pie . Something I would order from anywhere in Rhode Island. I love those darn things so it felt a bit like home since I'm originally from RI. Thanks for that . Also I liked the calamari because it wasn't drenched in garlic butter sauce like so many place do, also because they included the tentacles. That's a goooda! in addition I would like to mention the staff was very friendly and they gave us time to talk and eat which I really appreciate. Last thing anyone wants is to be bothered relentlessly by a waiter while they eat. Finally the only thing I would say that made me wonder was the portion size of the calamari. Was it a half order because it was lunch or is there a dinner size? I would have loved a bigger portion of that delicious appetizer. Other than that. Keep it up. I'm coming back. It was Friday October 18th at 5pm. It took over an hour to get our food, it wasn't full when we walked in. There were plenty of tables open. Several people who were seated after us started to get their food. We were becoming concerned because we had a concert to attend. The server apologized for the food taking so long, but did not give us a reason why. She brought two beers on the house without asking us if we wanted them. We were unhappy with the meal when it arrived. The beef tips were not cooked enough, too rare and grisly. The broccoli was cold and not cooked enough. The baked potato was not cooked enough. I ordered the vegetable Panini, which I have had before, very tasteless. It could use a fruit chutney or something. I'm disappointed they still carry those cupcakes that they used to have at Matt's. Worst tasting cupcakes. How could they not know these things! I've worked in the restaurant business my whole life. I have a culinary degree. Please get it together over there. I've never written a review before, but I feel I must speak up. We pay a lot of money for the experience and it's just very unprofessional. read more

My parents were up from NC and had eaten at Joes and the Black Whale so we decided to try something local and new. BEST DECISION WE MADE!! Food was top notch! Arrived with a party of 7 and we ordered plenty to make this judgement. We did the anti-pasta board, calamari and clam chowder for starters. The chowder was excellent..nice and thick consistency and great flavor. The anti-pasta board came with heated olives which I've never had but now I crave, 2 meatballs which my wife and I decided not to share with anyone else because they were so good. Very lite meatball with great flavor. The board also came with a whipped herb ricotta spread and focaccia bread. The table ordered lasagna, veal and chicken parm, pizza and baked stuffed trio. Everything was mind blowing except I didn't eat the veal because I don't eat off my dad's plate but he ate the whole thing and the portions aren't small. We ended up bringing food home. The lasagna wasn't greasy like other popular Italian restaurants in the area..it's like it was homemade. The chicken parm and baked stuffed trio were outstanding. The trio comes with scallops, haddock and jumbo shrimp with a house made crab stuffing so for seafood lovers this is the go-to for you . I don't remember our servers name but she was amazing. My kids are usually shy and we have to order their food but our 4 year old soon had no problem ordering his food and drink with her. The ambience is warm and inviting and I love that I can view right into the kitchen and see the chef chefing. My wife and I plan to go back for a solo date night and a lunch date because we eyeballed a few sandwiches that we want to try. my family and I have been to Costa's twice since it opened. The first visit was within the first month it opened. We sat and ate. I was praying that their lasagna was the recipe from Nephews seeing they are all related. Half of the lasagna was cold and definitely not like Nephews. My husband had prime rib which was average. We both had the clam chowder which was meh. We chopped it up to first month jitters. Let's fast forward to July and needing a quick dinner. My grandson had a pepperoni pizza which was rather good. I ordered the shrimp scampi and it was the oddest tasting scampi I have ever had. First of all the shrimp was way over cooked and to top it off only 4 pieces!!!! No bread No salad! 21$ for pasta and 4 shrimp that's ridiculous!! My husband had the fish and chips. The portion was small! 17$ not impressed! I was really hoping that this restaurant was going to be a great addition to Rochester instead I really think Kitchen nightmares should be contacted. read more
