I tried Tuscany Tavern finally after driving past for years. The restaurant is very small but clean and well cared for. The entire restaurant is 8 tables with an open kitchen in the dining area. Absolutely the sort of restaurant to make a reservation at. We started with the calamari and it was delicious. Tasted fresh and the sauce was full of flavor. It came with 4 calamari caps (I took a picture after we each took one). For dinner we split the veal and rigatoni. Both were delicious though portions were a little on the smaller side. We had the seasonal cheesecake, pumpkin, and loved that too. Our waitress was very nice, very attentive, and service was quick. My only critique would be the drink menu. They had a cordial list and not a drink list. There also is a wine list but it was hard to request mixed drinks not knowing what they had for mixers. read more

Great food, ambience and staff.. We had the most delicious lobster ravioli pasta with lots of lobster and a wonder sauce and perfect pasta. Also the linquine and clams were fresh and the again the homemade pasta was terrific. Also the chicken saltimbocca was prepared with a very nice sauce and not to salty which can happen with this dish. They also have a great wine selection by the glass and the prices are quite reasonable for the quality. For sure our go to Italian whenever we stop in Plymouth. read more

I took my wife here 25 years ago on one of our first dates. Came back for our 20th anniversary. She had the lobster ravioli, which was incredible--large pieces of lobster in a great red sauce. I had the sausage and spicy ricotta. Also great. The bill was extremely reasonable for this quality of food. The place is small. You need a reservation. Wife's Birthday Dinner in Plymouth, started with some Fresh Bread and Olive Oil, we had Caesar Salad for an Appetizer, our Main Dishes were the Wife had: PENNE ALLA SICILIANA and the Husband had: PENNE ALLA BOSCAIOLA, also for Dessert we had a Cannoli to split, sorry no picture of the Dessert, everything was fresh, delicious, and very reasonable price too, we will definitely be going back to eat there again, great little Italian Restaurant in Downtown North Plymouth...small in there but really good!!!! read more

I was skeptical at first by the appearance from the outside, but was highly recommend to us. Adorable, very small dining area, with friendly and knowledgeable staff! Food was incredible! The waitress recommended the pollo saltimbocca and it was fabulous! We had the meat ball appetizer to start and they were delicious! The bread was warm and perfect for dipping in the olive oil and sauce. Accompanied all of that with some Chianti and we had a great first time experience! First time visit to the Tuscany Tavern. A very quaint location in North Plymouth. Reservations recommended due to its size. At first a bit hesitant upon arrival but the quaint little tavern in North Plymouth quickly wowed and aroused the tastebuds. Possibly the best waiter east of the Mississippi. We were greeted with welcoming arms to townie Italian hospitality and great wine. The mussels in a garlic sauce (as recommended by our stud waiter) were light and tasted fresh from the Mediterranean. The entrees were straight from the aqueducts of Rome with the spicy rigatoni and linguine vongole conquering the Plymouth Rock. My first and last time going to Tuscany Tavern. While the food was ok ( a neighbor said the food was excellent but I would say it's good not excellent). My issue is with the service. I went on a Wednesday night ( 4.17) with my mom and when we opened the curtain and waited to be seated the hostess/waitress did not say hello or greet us warmly. She just stared at us with a look like "what are you doing here" and waited for us to say we would like a table. She was our waitress as well and that same attitude and level of indifference extended throughout our meal. And we waited an awful long time to get our check, well past what is considered reasonable. She offered no apology, couldn't care less. The attitude of this waitress alone has turned me off so much that I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone or ever go back there again. If I could give this restaurant experience zero stars I would. read more

Food is very good ambience is cool, especially with the piano player. unfortunately they do not have enough staff to operate.First time we went and there was only one person in the front of the house who also had to tend bar. That was our first time and felt it was out of the norm. We felt bad for the person left to hang out to dry. Where was management to come and help? second time we had a nice dining experience at the bar. third time we went at 530 bar was open but they couldn't seat us because they had staffing issues. I really wanted to give this a 5. The atmosphere was so nice when we walked in. The waitress was really pleasant and we just loved the whole vibe of the place. My insalata was perfect. We ordered veal milanaise and pasta carbonara. The carbonara was perfection. Perfect creamy sauce and just the right size portion. The issue was the veal milanaise. 1. It was oily. 2 it came with some lemon dressed lettuce. This is definitely how the Italians eat in courses so it was authentic. This was probably our fault for not reading the menu but the veal was for my husband who ended up eating a third of my pasta. It should have come with something, anything. He said the veal was good. I thought it was a little tough and I was put off by the oiliness of it. We still would go back and order something else or order a side with it. My Aunt recommended Tuscany to us, "just a little place", she said "but we like it". It is a little place but the way New York City neighborhood restaurants are; 10-12 tables, cozy and full of life. And most importantly, the food was delicious. Particularly notable was their "red sauce" and their Marsala wine sauce. These are our measures for "An Italian" worth going back for. Well we decided to try Tuscany Tavern again....and true to form the Brooklyn style bread was great....rest of the meal, poor at best. Let me explain. We went on Wednesday August 2nd with friends. We ordered the antipasti plate for 2 to share and the stuffed Calamari. The Antipasti plate was pathetic for $25...one small piece of mozzarella, one piece of Super Sade that was spoiled, a few roasted red peppers, a piece of prosciutto, a small piece of another cheese....just all together embarrassing. The stuffed Calamari was extremely fishy tasting, and very tough. Dinner consisted of the pork chops with vinegar peppers.....only thing was the chops were very dry and 2 pieces of vinegar pepper......not peppers. The potatoes were completely over cooked. I had the veal with eggplant which was decent. The other stuffed veal with pasta was ok as well. So after an absence, we will never return again....Hey we tried but just not work it. Went for the second time last night. First time was good but not memorable that caused me to rush back. Went last night again. As other reviewers stated, small place just like the North End or NYC. The soup of the day was a seafood stew. It had about 6 mussels and was chock full of cod, salmon, baby shrimp and other fish I believe. It was in a clear broth and was outstanding. Bread was soft with a thick crust and was served with olive oil and butter. I ordered the beef braciola which unfortunately they had sold out of. I ended up getting the pork chops with vinegar peppers and sliced potatoes. The chops were meaty and well cooked in a frying pan. The vinegar peppers were excellent. The staff was attentive and overall I enjoyed the meal this time, definitely a lot more memorable. read more

Great tasting "homemade" North End style Italian fare in a very small indoor (only) space that is very cozy and inviting. It's like going to eat in your Nona's kitchen with another 6-7 tables of family members. Go for the food, go for the pastas, go for the eggplant Parms, you will not regret it. The Tuscany is a hidden gem of North Plymouth. Fashioned after the small mom and pop restaurants that scatter the Italian countryside, you get a homey feeling when you walk in. You're greeted by a friendly server, tonight Mark was working. They have an amazing selection, and the food was delicious! I wish I had saved room for a cappuccino and a limoncello, but I was happily stuffed. Definitely make a reservation for weekend dining. The dining room seats 28 and fills up fast. One of the least enjoyable meals this foodie has ever had. It was a first-time visit based on recommendations by friends that the food was good. My party of four found a small seating area that crams 7 tables together with little room between chairs and the noise level is excruciating. The food turned out to be above average but not especially noteworthy. What kills any dining experience is poor service and this restaurant is the worst. We arrived at our appointed 5:45 reservation and then waited 15 minutes for a drink order to be taken and then another 15 minutes for them to be delivered. Waitress didn't return for another 30 minutes to take our order, an hour after we arrived. Our order for a second glass of wine didn't arrive until we held up our glasses to be seen after 20 minutes and our meals were finished. The problem: only one waitress, perhaps the owner or a relative, trying to do everything while 2 other helpers are underutilized. We will not dine there again nor do we recommend this restaurant unless you bring ear plugs. read more

Service we've ever had (note to owner: she was the only waitress Wednesday evening, 4/17). But, food first. Two of us ordered the bolognese. I requested gluten-free pasta. The meat to sauce ratio was 1 to 100. There were a few pieces of meat floating in a sea of sauce. Sauce was tasty, but please do not call it bolognese. The waitress also "forgot" the gluten-free part of my order. If I had had celiac disease...?! After slow service, the bill finally came, and I immediately gave the waitress our card. It took 27 minutes to get the bill back (she brought water to other tables, took orders, folded menus in the back, stood for a while). I finally got up and walked 5 feet to request our bill, which was just sitting there, already processed. I got the distinct impression that that waitress hates waitressing and finds little ways to get one over on the diners.
