Went to this location to return something...the first time I've ever returned anything to a Costco in the 19 years I've been a member. There was no problem with the item. It was a gift that was unwanted. It was unopened, undamaged. The employee at the returns desk (Yvette) was something to behold. A smarmy, holier than thou dismissive attitude right from the start. Accused me of somehow cutting the line. If she hadn't been on her personal cell for the first 30 seconds I stood there she would have realized I had been the only person in line the entire time. Giving me sneers and haughty orders "if you want your money back then you better put your card on the machine". It was weird...Every Costco employee I've ever interacted with over nearly 20 years was polite, friendly, helpful. Yvette was acting like her doing her job was a "gift" to customers. read more

This is the closest Costco to me and definitely the worst one I've ever been to. The parking and traffic flow at this location truly bring out the worst in everyone, myself included. If you're already annoyed by "selfish DMV drivers" in general, it's about to be 10x worse here. Drivers will rudely take spots you've been waiting for for at least a few minutes, or suddenly brake in the middle of the lane and you can't even pass them. Getting in and out is hell -- driving in and parking in the lot carries a sizable risk of getting into a car accident every time. Aside from the horrendous parking situation, the produce is fresh, and I've never had issues finding anything I need. The checkout lines tend to be long, but the staff is helpful and efficient. The food court items are just okay -- I've had neither the best nor the worst food here. Typically, it comes out pretty quickly, 5-10 minutes after ordering. Additionally, if you hate running into people you know in public, I find that it happens pretty frequently to me at this Costco. You never know if you will bump into one of your coworkers scurrying around in the wild. read more

They have lay parking and a garage, but will validate your parking. While they had a great selection of products and food, the service was not great. We stood in line forever just to be told that we (and everyone behind us) weren't in the correct line by an employee 15 minutes later... I was not impressed by the service and atmosphere. Luckily, the pizza and cookie at the food court were amazing and a great value! 3 of us split the cookie and it filled us up after each having a slice of pizza. Love this Costco! I'd consider it a Costco with plenty of diverse food options, which they seem to always change up. Your regular stuff can be found too, but I've noticed if it's busy you may or may not find the items you need (i.e. eggs, chicken, particular salad or some drinks). But they have plenty of options so I'd fear not. Since this Costco is close to the city, the parking is pretty terrifying if you're not used to driving around DC. You have to pull a ticket (and get it validated inside the store) at the entrance. There is garage parking with plenty of spots, but wow-corners can be tight! And if you park in the garage, better wait for the elevators, there is only two! Overall I love going to this Costco because of their selection. I am reviewing again since I haven't visited in nearly 10 years. I got an online promotion to join & receive an e-gift card. Member services is close to the exit. I asked an employee where I could join (even though I could see where I needed to go) so she didn't think I was walking in without a membership. She pointed to the desk and was pleasant. As I walked to the desk, I could hear a coworker berating her for about 6 minutes. He was telling her not to let anyone in that way. How do you join then? We got our member cards and exited. I showed my card to the grumpy employee who was giving his colleague a hard time. I told him we just joined. He snapped, "I can see that! We held up our cards at the entrance because that is what I remember when I used to shop in Pentagon City. Two grumpy employees told us to scan the card. I can appreciate cracking down on people sneaking in just to visit the snack bar. There isn't any reason to be unkind. There is a decent selection of items. The clothes are mostly cheaply made. A $4 t-shirt that is so thin you can see through it isn't really a bargain. There is a bakery but not a deli where you can order meat slices. I prefer smaller sizes of items in multiple packs instead of huge containers (except laundry pods). My household is small. I paid for my items and visited customer service, which is now separate from member services (why?). I had the receipt so hubby had to wait for me to exit. I quickly entered the exit, holding out the receipt to give to my husband, who was near the exit. He had explained he was waiting for the receipt. Hubby got snapped at for being by the exit. I got snapped at by two employees for entering the exit. I didn't go farther than about four feet. Kindness is gone at this location. A friend was robbed in the parking garage a few weeks after we visited. So safety is gone too. Free validated parking isn't reason to keep my membership. I am canceling my membership and returning to the club I wanted to fire. Suddenly, that club looks much better (and is less expensive to join). Costco isn't about service any more. read more

I truly appreciate Costco, the corporation. I've shopped at several of their warehouses in different states. This location is easily the most unpleasant and difficult one I have ever been in. I believe that the central problem is with the management of the location on Fern St. The staff have an attitude that you're bothering them when you ask a question or request some help. They have a disdain for their customers. This is a management and training issue. The answers to my questions to find products that have been relocated multiple times, is to give me the most minimal of information. I end up asking the people sampling products in the store, they are much more helpful and friendly. Employees here just really don't seem to care about their customers. As Mister L wrote on Jan 16, people were stuck in an elevator. He was documenting this and an employee had the gall to record him. Are you kidding?! No one who works in this store smiles. That is a clear indication of how the management of this store treats their employees. People who frequent Yelp know that when there are powerfully negative reviews- not angry, just descriptive-someone from the business responds and at least says, "Sorry, we'll try to do better." The management of this store has such little regard for their customers, they don't even have the decency to pretend to care. The one area of the store that I find as a friendly oasis is the pharmacy. The people in the pharmacy even smile. Most everyone who works there is kind, polite and tries to listen and help. I receive all of my vaccinations at this location. I really appreciate Milan who administers them to me. The parking situation of this Costco is dangerously absurd. Dangerous because nearly every car that enters and exits the parking lot needs to cross the pedestrian walkway. Absurd because it is nearly impossible to believe that a licensed professional engineer would have created such a ridiculous layout for a parking lot. I cannot think of any store with a worse car/walk flow. Because cars can't drive in easily due to the pedestrian traffic, there is almost always a backup on to Fern Street. I deeply respect this company as it has the tradition of treating its employees like valuable human beings. They are paid a reasonable wage and they receive medical insurance. And so DESPITE the disregard that I experience at this location, I will continue to come here. And finally, I shop at Costco because the majority of the products are of high quality at a reasonable price. read more

Yes it gets very busy on the weekends and parking is very tough to find in the surface lot but I have never seen the garage run out of spots. I would skip the lot and go straight for the garage and you will find a spot. Validation is available near the entrance with your receipt. I strongly DO NOT recommend using the garage elevator at this Costco location Today the elevator on the 3rd floor got stuck, trapping people inside, and Arlington Fire and EMS (911) had to respond to evacuate them. I parked in the adjacent indoor garage on the 3rd floor. I briefly recorded the emergency response from a safe distance. A parking garage employee approached and told me to stop filming, so I immediately complied with no issues. With the elevator out of service, I had no choice but to walk back up to the 3rd floor to retrieve my car, since hauling heavy Costco groceries down multiple flights of stairs is not realistic. As I was trying to exit the garage, a garage employee instructed her colleague to photograph my vehicle and license plate. That colleague then followed me through the garage while taking additional photos of me and my car. They even followed me outside the garage to continue taking photos of me, and ran away when I attempted to photograph the employee who was following and photographing me. I was simply attempting to leave due to the elevator failure and posed zero threat or disruption. The staff's overreaction-escalating to following and photographing a customer mid-exit felt like unnecessary intimidation. Combined with the serious elevator outage, this made for a very poor experience. The parking lot employees showed hostile behavior toward me, and they really need to check their attitudes toward customers. Fix your elevators and your employees' behavior. read more

People love to hold everyone up here to wait for a spot, even if there's one a few yards away that's already open. My advice would be to enter through the back entrance to avoid blocking the main road and use the garage. Go straight to the top to avoid the crowds. I come here a lot due to its proximity but growing up in Northern VA and having been a Costco customer for over 20 years this is far from the best Costco I have been too. One of the worst actually (but I love all Costcos). Mainly the issue it the parking. I don't think they planned to have so many customers. The lot is almost always full and the flow is traffic is bad so there is always a line of cars to enter the parking lot on weekends and evenings. You need to get your receipt validated with a receipt/purchase from Costco or else the parking costs money. They do have overflow parking in the garage. There is no gas station. I politely asked why she treated me like that and why she didn't say "thank you." And she answered me, why I have to say thank you to you? ..Since then, every time I return to the pharmacy, the same employee calls over her coworkers and they begin mocking or speaking about me in a bullying manner -- including the pharmacist. I have never experienced anything like this at Costco. It has made me anxious and worried, especially because they handle my prescription, which is something very important to me. I don't understand why this is happening, and I truly hope Costco will look into this situation so no other member has to feel this way. This review is for Costco Pharmacy mainly! I just want to thank the lovely ladies that helped me to get my Hepatitis B shot. First of all, very responsive over the phone about the timing for a Walk-in (since I didn't schedule an appointment). They helped me filing all the info and went over the 2 different Hepatitis B shots they have (a strong one of 2 dosages and the common one of 3 dosages!). They have a wide selection of vaccines for fair prices! (If you have a Costco card, definitely get an update of your vaccines here!) They were very gentle with me, specially the person who handled me with care the moment I got the shot, I'm terrified of needles (to a borderline fear). So I get extremely anxious and I can easily faint/shock. The only downside, is parking situation, it was really hard to get there with all the traffic! It was August and I needed a patio umbrella...I knew Costco was already selling Halloween but I thought I would try. I called and was told they had one type left. I hurried over there and walked and walked tryng to find one but all I found was camping gear. As I was leaving I stopped at the returns desk and asked the person (Quinard) working there. He looked it up and said they had them. When I said I had looked and couldn't find them he said, "Well we will find them." We walked all over and searched and searched and he contacted more colleagues and finally we found them. This was the best customer service I have experienced in decades anywhere. This is my go to spot for groceries. I do not need a car, so parking is not an issue for me. I live in a nearby apartment complex so I am allowed to cart off with one of their carts to the said apartment complex. This place gets super crowded after work hours and on weekends, just a fair warning. A very wide range of goods, including wine. They seem to be lacking vegetables (only cucumbers and romaine lettuce), but have an abundance of fruits. The people of the membership desk are generally super friendly. The cashiers are hit or miss. Self check-out is not "self check-out" as there's a cashier scanning all of your items. read more

I am not a frequent Costco shopper, and when my Costco membership expired, I didn't renew it. Yesterday, I visited the store and wanted to know that my membership would be valid for a full year after payment (re-apply or re-new). The first staff member I spoke to was unhelpful, responding to my questions with impatient, saying only "I don't know"s. while processing my credit card information. So I told her that "never mind, I don't want to do it now." She then threw my card back to me and immediately walked away. I returned a few minutes later to seek assistance from another employee. The second staff member initially assured me that the renewing the membership today then it would be valid for one year, so I proceeded with the payment. But then another employee nearby said "no, it's a membership even though you don't use it, the membership still continue like a subscription service before you renew it" I understood that: if I have signed up for a one-year Amazon membership, even though I don't use it, the membership continues. But after the membership expires, and I know I won't use the service for maybe half a year, I will wait until next time I want to use the service to subscribe for another year. So I want to make sure the my membership will be valid for a year after I made the payment to Costco. However, my credit card has already been charged without my questions to be clarified. read more

The only negative about this Costco is the parking. I almost blew a gasket and lost my sh.... trying to get in here. People don't care, they don't yield and they don't have common courtesy. I always say this if your parking, park facing out. Yes it's a pain to back in, and ppl will honk , who cares. Its easier to get out!! Ok with that being said, my fam summoned me to buy a case of Heineken. My dad loves it, and so do I. It the only beer I'll drink and Saporo. I love their beer and wine selection. I wish Maryland would get it together, and have it in their stores... but thats another story. The customer service is great. They have great warranties. My Ninja blender was acting up and they took it back. Refunded me 100%, and I bought a new Ninja blender. The meats are good. I wish their rotisserie chicken wasn't soo salty. It's good but they need to reduce the sodium. Sample peeps are nice. Check out is another story, but it moves fast. I hate self check out. I spend a lot, and I shouldn't have to play cashier. If I wanted a cashier job, I would work at Target. A big S/O to Ola in member services. She is a doll, and helped resolved my Costco card issues. [3.5 STARS] This Costco is the nearest one if you live around Arlington, VA. Location-wise, it's great! However, they do not have a gas station, so don't expect to find long lines for cheap gas at the gas station... Instead, expect to find long lines (and at times, rude and speedy drivers) while looking for parking. I like this Costco because it has essentially everything that you find in other Costcos, PLUS alcohol? Coming from NJ, there usually was a separate but adjacent Costco store for liquor sales. Also coming from a not so diverse part of NJ, I was surprised to see a dedicated aisle of Asian selection, especially items like ginseng or mochi, that I haven't seen in a Costco before. I will say I do notice a price difference here compared to other Costcos I've been to. At times, I find items here that are priced 10-30% more here, but it could mainly be cost of living of the surrounding location or that we're technically in the "city" area. ALSO being that this Costco is in a densely populated area, keep in mind that the food court is ALWAYS crowded. Sometimes people may take your order (and your table for that matter). Come prepared to clean off your table with provided disinfectant spray and paper towels and gloves, as there isn't really anyone assigned to clean the area. Customer service is usually friendly and helpful, never had anyone in membership or returns that looked like they hated their job or people. Usually greeted with a smile. Despite the parking situation and the inflated price, I still choose to continue to come back to this Costco as it will always beat out the price of other grocery stores, especially with items that are on sale / items used on a daily. read more

Love this Costco! There are always plenty of carts and the greeters at the front checking your membership are always so friendly and kind. Usually by the front to the left they have items that are on sale which is convenient and also leads to some impulse purchases. This location is large and has tons of inventory but is very easy to navigate. There are always deals to be found. The produce at this Costco is generally very fresh and doesn't rot that quickly. Lots of samples too if you come at the right time! Of course, the food court is great for a quick, easy, and cheap meal. Grab a slice of pizza for $1.99 or a hot dog and soda for $1.50. They also have a turkey sandwich now and chocolate chip cookies instead of churros. No water cups so bring a quarter to buy a bottled water from the vending machine! The parking lot is always pretty chaotic and the parking structure is narrow and difficult to drive in, but the open lots are nice! Free 2 hour validated parking with purchase. This Costco is located right by a Marshall's, Nordstrom Rack, Best Buy, and 5 and Below which is convenient if you want to get a bunch of bargain shopping done in one trip. read more

Terrible customer service. The last two pizza orders we've placed have been over an hour late. We call hours earlier asking for it to be ready at 5:30. 6:25 we're still here, and they're just barely starting the hot dog smoothie part of our large order. When my husband ran some of the food to the car (it was a big order for a work party) they didn't want to let him back in the building to grab the rest of our order with me. When we asked for an guess of how long, or if we could grab cups and plates from them while we wait they ignored us all three times and told us to wait for our order. Pro tip- If you still feel inclined to order a large order of food from here, ask for it to be ready an 1.5 before you need it. You'll have quite a wait but then you won't be waiting and late like we were. read more

OK, we are almost done with the Great Pandemic yes, but unfortunately Costco management is letting families bring unmasked children run rampant in this store. This is not cool. Last night I personally witnessed several families with unmasked pre-school kids just shopping as though everything is normal times, parents not caring about them or others. Honestly I'm afraid to go back there now. What happened to the mask policy? Did someone in the Washington state headquarters issue a memo saying the Pandemic is over? PARKING here is AWFUL and PRICEY. They have a terrible policy here where they will try to jip you with money, if you for whatever reason go beyond the time limit (2 hrs), you have to pay $2.00+ (!!!) for going over, even under circumstances you cannot control. When I came in one time, I had to wait in lines that took over 15 min to get through, so really only had very limited time to browse selection and get the items I needed. Although this Costco is conveniently located, it's NOT run well based on how they do parking. They won't let you go back and will charge you $2.00 EVERY TIME if you do not comply to every single rule they have, to try to get $$ from you. ***Very unhappy with the "customer service" I received here from the Parking guy who for the second time won't let me through the gate for going over by a few minutes the allotted 2 hours! I get that parking is a hot commodity here in Crystal and Pentagon City as I'm quite familiar with this area BUT as a business you should really consider giving customers a break for giving you business...you shouldn't have to PAY for already shopping somewhere. This just doesn't "feel" like a good location for a Costco. There's plenty of parking but literally just pulling into the lot is a WHOLE adventure. I'm talking waiting in line for over 10-15 minutes just to pull in (at least on Saturdays). Then when you do finally pull in it's madness with people trying to walk and pull out of their spaces in THEE most unorganized way. The parking lot is really the only cause of the missing star. It literally discourages me from going. However inside they have a good selection of stuff like you would expect. And at least they validate parking! read more
