Decided to use Gaithersburg Costco auto to change the tires. Scheduled an appointment about a week in advanced. Got there on time around 12:10 for 12:15 appointment. Sales associate at the counter said the car would be ready in about 2.5 hours. Shouldn't take that long to change the tires, but ok. I came back to see if the car is ready and to my surprise it has not been touched. When I spoke to the shop manager, he said it will take another 1.5 to 2 hours since they are so busy. When i asked the manager why is the wait so long, he had no response. What they do is book everyone at the same time and have people wait for hours. While standing outside people from 11am appointment where still waiting. Took them over 4 hours to change the tires. I do not recommend anyone to go there. read more

Today 11/15/25 I want to thank Alex & kwasi for going above and beyond to help me. My wife came in on Wednesday because the tire had a nail but in the side wall so it needed to be replaced. I received the email that the tire was at the shop and was hoping to get it installed but the earliest appt was Friday next week and I'm driving on a temp wheel. Asked for management and Alex came out and gave options to help and later Kwasi to help as well. At the end of our discussion Alex said something opened up and he could replace today. Without Kwasi and Alex assistance I would still be on that donut wheel. So I thank you two gentlemen because now my wife can have peace. no one wants to sit and wait behind the next person wanting his/her car/truck/whatever to be done in the quickest time reguardless of the next person, most people dont understand you have 6 guys working 4 on tires 2 automotive, but you have a a rush all over job, these people are awesome great, been coming here 20 years, never a problem always a solution read more

I will not go into detail about my experiece because it is too complicated. But I will say my experience to have my tires replaced (and recently my wife did the same) at the Gaithersburg Costco was terrific. I would never, ever choose another tire company to buy replacement tires. And a special shout out to Kevin Kelly, my salesperson. He was professional, knowledgeable, personable and just a really great human being who listened to my ptoblem and solved it! read more

I have been relying on my tire purchases and service since they've been opened. Today, they rotated my tires, inflated with nitrogen and replaced two tire sensor. All performed under an hour. I have never had any issues with Costco's services. All of the staff. Including front counter to the technicians treated me in a kind and courteous manner. Desiree checked my car in and completed my invoice and was very helpful answering my questions. Coupled with the above and great pricing is always a win-win. read more

This Costco Tire center is horrible. Always short handed, "too busy" is the excuse given. Why can't they staff accordingly? The cashiers at the tire center move with no sense of urgency, whatsoever. You have to stand in line for upto at least a half hour most of the time. They don't call when your work is done. They don't answer the phone when you call them. So you have to just show up and find out if your car is ready. I bought and ordered a set of 4 tires which arrived a day later, but they didn't call. In the past, I dropped off to get a flat tire repaired and they kept the car all day. No one called so I go in at night before close and they told me that they called and left a message 4 hours ago. I asked which number they called and it turned out to be someone else they called. They have my right number on my account. This is Unacceptable. Costco tire department has some of the best prices and warranties around, which is why I shop there. But their customer service is horrible. Unlike the main store where you see all the hard working people including cashiers working with a sense of urgency, the tire center has many issues and I wonder if management and the higher ups are even aware of the issues. Lying company that takes your money. I have called them three times to see if they give me the refund they told me that they gave me the refund. I have looked at the statement and they never gave me the refund. This is a scam. Do not go to this place, they will take you money and won't tell you the status of the tires. read more

Waited three hours past my appointment time before they even started working on my car. No communication the entire time I was there. . There were many customers waiting way past the expected time. Believe the bad reviews and go elsewhere! read more

it is most likely the worst tire center I have ever had an experience with ALWAYS OVER CROWDED AND UNDER STAFFED many of the crew members are rude and condescending in their manner with the exception of Yaw and Abebe who went above and beyond to assist - they did need support and no one was there to assist them I had low tire pressure and pulled in to put air in the tires and one went completely flat and a service member came out yelling I had to move and I told him how with a flat tire he said I can't stay there to move it did not offer any assistance at all!!! read more

Appointments mean nothing here!!! I made an appointment for a tire rotation, showed up 15 min early, & they didn't take my car back until 70 min after my scheduled appointment. They never have enough people at the check in counter. Usually a 15 - 20 min wait for the cashier. What a waste of time!!! read more

Terrible experience. Let me first say that I love costco. I go there for everything and always have a good when there. But the staff is just not that great. Everytime I talk to the staff they always seems like they don't want to be there and don't help you. The tire center is the worst though. When I wanted to order my tires they took forever and didn't even care that I was there. They were just rude and didn't seem like they cared about me at all. They said they would call when my tires arrived but never did and when I called them to ask about my tires they said it arrived a while ago, but they never called me. I scheduled an appointment to get my tires changed because they arrived and they confirmed the time and date. When I got there to get my tires changed they said they forgot to write down my appointment so I couldn't get them changed that day. I scheduled it for the next day and they finally were able to change my tires. Altogether not a good experience and the people really don't care about you and just take forever to get one thing done. read more

Probably one of the worst experiences I had at the Costco tire station due to a lot of inconsistencies, inefficiencies, and overall lack of regard for their customers. I get it; Costco customers can be extremely impatient and rude, so that sets the precedent and environment that the employees have to deal with. I see it firsthand when I went there today. Costco employees are so fed up with these customers that they reciprocate the same toxic behavior to a majority of the customers which ultimately creates a worse chaotic and highly inefficient service due to poor communication. First inconsistency is when I got a flat tire and called the tire services. My tire seemed pretty busted so I felt that I would need it replaced. I called the department seeing if I needed to order the part or do tire repair so that I wouldn't make a trip out to Costco and take time off of work for nothing. He said just bring it in for repair. I go in, and it takes them 1 hour for them to just pop open my trunk and call me back to tell me the wheel needs to replaced, no work was done - go figure, thanks I knew that. Now, I have to go back on a second trip taking more hours off work but, I kind of saw that one was coming. But the next thing is when things get worse. The guy on the phone tells me that my tires can be under warranty no problem if I showed just "ONE" proof of balancing and rotation done. This really seemed like a an act of good will, because I am ware of the strict rules that Costco or any warranty has to follow for that matter to get anything covered. I go to the Costco with the proof on my phone after reaching out to my auto detailer for proof of the data which took time and effort. I arrive at the store only to be told that I need a printout. They say, " don't worry just pay now and bring it next time when you have the printout". I'm like great, so I pay but end up finding the documentation in my car. I go right back into the store and then they say no, you need more proof of every single balancing and rotation you ever did that shows you did it every 7500 miles. Yeah, I get it... that's what the warranty states, but the person on the phone told me to just bring in the one documentation as an act of good will. They say no once again, and that I need more proof. So even if I did come back with documentation the second time around, it would have been a waste because it was more than just that one documentation. I was absolutely livid knowing that if I went through any more effort of sending the documentation and printing it out, I would have just been rejected and lied to. I would've been okay with just paying for the tire, but my time and effort was vastly wasted trying to procure all the documents only for them to be rejected and sent back home to make several unforeseeable trips. That's probably one of the worst feelings a customer can feel; given false information and directions to get you to do things in a circle only for it to result in absolutely zero progress. One person on the phone gives one direction, when the person in the actual store says the opposite. This whole experience was a mess designed to waste the customers' time to take trips and time off work for no progress whatsoever. I'm tired, frustrated and felt like I accomplished nothing today thanks to Costco, but I hope I can share this review for visibility for others. If you go to this Costco, please set your expectations extremely low because anything higher will result in massive disappointment. read more
