I recently sent in two rugs that had been heavily stained by my sick dog, including one with a complex silk weave that I'd been told by other companies was almost impossible to clean. I was anxious to see the results knowing how bad the damage was going in, but they've come back looking just like new. You could not tell that anything had ever happened to them. We used Costikyan to clean and de-odorize an expensive carpet that are new dog cristened several times. The work came back on time and beautifully done. The spots were gone. The men who brought the rug back laid it down with care and made syre the fringe was in good order. It was a bit pricey, but if you want the best sometimes you have to pay a little bit more. read more

We needed someone to lay carpet in our office without destroying our furniture. These guys were super responsive, gave us a detailed quote and most importantly, they did superb work. We left the office on Friday and when we came back in on Monday everything was done as promised. They left everything clean and in the right place, and the carpet was beautifully installed. I have two Gobelins tapestries from Europe. After much research I was recommended to use Costikyan Restoration services in New York. Apart from the fact they they kept one tapestry for more than a year, and the other for 10 months they did return the pieces to my home in Florida. The restoration cost several thousand dollars, however I had peace of mind that they knew what they were doing. 8 Years later, the tapestries have started to fall apart. I called a reputable restorer in Atlanta GA. After a very close inspection, they showed me that Costikyan's "restoration" included gluing fabrics on the tapestries together instead of stitching the fabrics with silk. It has been explained that any tapestry restorer who relies on glue to restore a 400 year old tapestry should simply not be in business. Stay away..!! read more

Awesome, expensive but worth it if you have a delicate rug. My wool silk blend Tibetan rug had a small chocolate stain. After a google "consult" I nearly ruined it with bake soda and vinegar. The stain was now 10x worse. Costikyan completely restored rug to its original look. They are pricey but again it is worth it. Professional and timely in responding to inquiries. read more

I got a sport cleaning from this company and was more than pleased with the results. I have many pets in my house so my carpet was in need of a good cleaning and some spot stain treatments as well. After it was finished, I couldn't believe how clean my carpet was! It looked like new! read more

Really really bad. I sent them a vintage Swedish hand woven rug from1930 to repair the fringes. Instead of just reweaving the fringes they used glue. GLUE! On a hand woven rug. Very visible dark glue! And it never dried, stayed gummy for weeks. They offered to remedy the problem but I couldn't trust them to try. Stay away. And, they ASSURED me beforehand of their expert knowledge in reweaving. read more

Paid over $3000 for my rugs and cloth furniture to be treated. Brand new furniture and rugs just did house with decorator. This company not only is the service horrible, but it is a total rip off! My dining room chairs never went back to their original color they told me after the fact that might happen! My rugs when a drink was spilled on them the stain turns yellow ! Called them they said they will treat but not replace. they came out and treated one rug for stain and its worse. They are horrible read more

HORRIBLE - BEWARE We bought an expensive rug from ABC Carpet, and paid to have it fiber shielded by Costikyan (which took an extra week before delivery). We had a small leak in our apartment, and a few drops of water landed on the rug, creating small stains. Since the warranty is thru Costikyan, we called, and they sent a couple of their guys out to "clean" the rug. They were very nice, but the cleaning creatied a MASSIVE yellow/brown stain across the middle of the white rug, basically destroying it. I called Costikyan, and they came and picked it up, only to tell me that they are unable to do anything about it, and are not liable - to call ABC. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I did some research and found that Costikyan is one of the most reputable companies in the city, with a long history and many glowing recommendations from high-end designers and furniture companies in the Design & Decoration Building. They are experts at what they do and transformed what I thought to be a rather ugly, worn silk rug that my client inherited into a beautiful, perfectly clean and wonderfully resized rug for their den. All old dents from furniture, stains, and damages were magically erased! I found their invoice method to be a bit strange as it's online and doesn't have a linear format - you have to pay REALLY close attention to make sure that the dimensions and what not are all okay since they're not listed right under the price. However other than that I was very pleased with the service. Huge plus, the delivery guys were really nice, especially when they had to carry the big heavy carpet up 4 flights of stairs! read more

Overpriced beyond belief. Poor workmanship. Couldn't remove stains one one rug. Discolored and faded another rug. Repairs were not done particularly well and costed a bomb. They must be riding on a reputation that they once had but no longer deserve. read more

I have an unusual carpet that needed either reweaving or patching. One of the owners, came out and we discussed exactly what was to occur. Reweaving was not an option. Instead a section of the rug under the sofa was to be cut out to replace the worn section. But they got it wrong and the worn section ended up in the middle of the carpet. They took the carpet back and brought it back with two patches. This all happened because there was no tape put on the rug to indicate exactly where the patch was to be taken from. I called and again the owner came back at my request and after many words finally took responsibility for the 'mistake' and then took offense when I said the carpet had been ruined and now I had two patches in the middle of the carpet instead of only one. I asked him for money back, saying I would be happy to pay for the cleaning and binding but wanted the rest returned. He too great offense at the word 'ruined.' and then walked out refusing to do anything in the way of refunding money because he said I am an 'unreasonable woman.' BEWARE! Do not be as trusting as I was, thinking this great company would do the right thing, first by insuring that the patch would come from the proper place and then being insolent because I was complaining and wanted some compensation. GO TO ANOTHER COMPANY!!! This 'mistake' cost me $1500. A great lesson learned. read more
