I think customers need to look at reviews for Kingsway Company. LI Carpet Cleaners is now part of this bigger company. It is not a good change. LI Carpet Cleaners have done carpets in my building for over 25 years and I was always a satisfied customer. In early September I had a rug picked up by this company a la Kingsway. The rug had moth issues. I had no idea that the problem existed. The customer service person Dorothy called me and spoke about extensive damage. I was surprised and upset that my beautiful expensive rug was in such bad condition and that I was recommended to discard it. She was very curt. I requested and quickly received photos. I wasn't told on the phone that the cost for disposal would be $80 and that the rug was going to be treated for moth infestation immediately at the cost of $80 without my approval. I got back to Dorothy about 15 minutes later after seeing the photos and asked that the rug be discarded. Minutes later I received an invoice listing all the fees. I don't understand why all fees weren't clearly explained on the phone during our first conversation. Dorothy was in a big rush to get off the phone. I don't think I should have been charged for a moth cleaning since I wasn't given a time frame for responding to this upsetting situation and 15 minutes is a reasonable response time. I have used LI Carpet Cleaners for years but this last time they truly outdid themselves! My silk/wool carpet was damaged (unintentionally) by the NYFD and their use of fire extinguishing equipment. This rug was very expensive and I feared that I would have to file a claim with my insurance company. Dorothy of LICC suggested cleaning and a separate soaking treatment to deal with the chemicals used by the FD. My beautiful rug was returned to me today and it looks better than it did when it was first delivered by Stark Carpets. Thank you to Dorothy and her team! She even was able to get approval to have our rug's entire perimeter refurbished--at no charge because of the damage that was caused by the cleaning initially. Now it looks like a brand new rug!! Wow. What a total scam, do not take your rug here! I took my rug here to be cleaned and afte 2 months and $250 (that's $120 over what they told me it would cost) I still don't have my rug back. I went into their location 3 weeks after dropping my rug off to pick it up and was told there wasn't anyone to help me process my order so I had to come back. I explained that I was moving out of the neighborhood the next day so the woman at the front told me they would call me and have the rug delivered to my new house for $9. Fast forward a few weeks. I'm still waiting for them to call me as no one ever has answers when YOU call. Instead, I get a bill in the mail telling me that because they've had my carpet for so long, they were charging me storage fees and de-mothing. I was A. Never told about either of these charges and B. Never authorized them to make charges on my card. I've since called them numerous times to try and get my carpet delivered and they've not called me back when they said they would, or not understood what I was trying to say. This morning I noticed that they charged me $250 and when I called AGAIN they said they didn't know where those charges came from. Now, I not only have to deal with the fraud department at my bank, but I'm out a $400 rug. read more

The Living Social deal is a bait and switch scam. I called the number on the voucher for $49 for two rooms of 150 sq feet each and stairs for $49. They told me they could come for the voucher deal on a Friday or Saturday. I chose Saturday before noon. When they arrived they said they are a different company than what the voucher stated Huh? I called the number and they answered and were told about the voucher. They scammed and charged us $229.94 The company is Long Island Carpet Cleaners Inc. I am so disgusted that these people think consumers are this stupid. I am in contact with Living Social and they are investigating but my advice is stay away from Steam Pros Cleaning and their shill LI Carpet Cleaners Inc. I am not letting this go, I am, also going to the NY Attorneys General to place a complaint on this illegal activity. BEWARE. I just spoke with the owner. This may be a weird mistake. At this point I am giving LI Carpet Cleaners a pass as I work with Living Social a chance to fully investigate Update: May 25. Today, weeks after getting numerous messages from Long Island Carpet Cleaners our bank card issues $163 to Long Island Carpet Cleaners since a friend here at the house (I was at work) signed their paperwork. He never saw the Voucher so how did he know this is a bait and switch, so I am making a report to Consumer Protection of the Attorney General's Office. They came to clean two area rugs. Arrived promptly but did not don shoe coverings upon entry. It was right after snowstorm and they cleaned rugs in their street shoes, leaving sneaker tread marks on the wet carpet that dried in place. (Damn Viscose carpets stink) I would have appreciated if they wore shoe coverings. Also, the machine was dripping on my wood floors which I pointed out to them. They cleaned it up, but again, I thought they were a bit sloppy. The unfortunate part is they mentioned to my doorman that if they slipped on lobby floor they would sue for money. HOWEVER, when they called to give me the price I told the woman if its close to 350.00 forget it because the rug was on sale at west elm for 350. She said 187.00 , i said ok. UPDATE 10.30.18: I am happy to report, that Daisy - the office manager, did address [all] of my issues and concerns with regard to their recent carpet, upholstery and fabric protection application. In fact - she arranged for a [different] tech to "do-over" the fabric protectant application of our dining room chairs - within a week of my phone conversation with her. I also received an eMail from the president/owner of the company, apologizing for our inconvenience. The tone of his eMail was sincere, and authentic. Lastly [even though, the work had been done over, at no charge to us] Daisy arranged for a full refund - of the cost of the fabric protectant application. All-in-all, I was/am VERY pleased with the outcome, and will definitely be using LICC again, and, will [continue] to recommend them to my family and friends. I was in a bind and they were able to come not only same day but, right before Christmas. Prior companies I called weren't able to come until January. The customer service representative was very friendly and the prices were definitely reasonable. The wait time was reasonable especially for a same day request (they arrived 2 hours later from my call). The quality of work was great they were able to restore the carpets back to the original state. To say the least I was overly pleased with the work and will be using them regularly. read more

I had used LICC in the past and had an acceptable experience. Not this time. We have oriental rugs. This matters since wall to wall cleaning is different. Our rugs have been carefully maintained but needed cleaning. The rugs were picked up after conversations with several employees who didn't talk to each other (nor take notes). The rugs went in and I was then told that the suggested work was very different from our earlier phone calls (and the pricing would have doubled). I declined to accept the revised proposal. Then, I was asked to sign a disclaimer that said that if I had LICC clean under the original proposal, they would essentially take no responsibility for the condition of the rugs after their work was done. I am paraphrasing the disclaimer--but my husband, a lawyer, read it and his advice was to have them return the rugs. I did so. I paid the delivery charge and set about looking for another company. The rugs have now been cleaned and returned. With this other vendor, I interacted with only one person. The salesman's was clear and the work done exceeded expectations. Most importantly, the employees who came to my home were great. Lesson learned. read more

I've used Long Island Carpet for years and have found them to be an "old school" business in the best sense of that term. Recently they cleaned two of my rugs. When they were returned I noticed some minor issues, one of the rugs was somewhat misshapen on one side and, on the other rug, about an inch of the fringe was separating from the body of the rug. I called and Dorothy was very responsive and told me they'd look into it immediately. Shortly afterwards I received a call from Norma Jean who took the time to work out a resolution to fix the problems. They will pick up the rugs and she explained how they would fix each issue. We had a large Aubusson rug that had been water damaged by a fire. It was a beautiful, heavy rug that we were willing to spend money on cleaning and repairing. We had the pleasure of working with Dorothy who arranged its pick up. She explained the process, including the logistics of repair. All said and done, it was determined that the damage was really beyond repair and was not worthy of investing in its repair. Dorothy represents the honesty and integrity of LI Carpet. I called them recently to clean my off-white couch that was not doing very well keeping up with my 4 year old. It looks practically NEW! They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. I was referred to this company by my buildings super. I was looking to have two bedrooms stretched and cleaned over two consecutive days. I spoke with three different woman in the office on different day's over a two week period including leaving a message on the company voice mail all to no avail. I received no return phone calls after being told on two occasions that the original person I spoke with would call me back. Needless to say I have given up on them and hope an owner or manager reads this to use as a coaching opportunity. Most important, the rugs looked great when they came back. Pick up and delivery were on schedule, telephone consultation and ordering very good. Be aware that, beyond the quoted cost of cleaning, various further services will be proposed at additional cost after rugs have been inspected. Take the time to consider fringes, especially, before your rugs are picked up. Refringing will double the cost of your job, but it may be worth it for some or all rugs. read more

I had them come and clean a sofa. Fair job, but the guy would not leave he wanted to clean the seats of 2 side chairs that did not need cleaning! He said he would quickly do them and I would not have to pay if they looked the same. To get rid of him I agreed. They looked the same after the cleaning. I finally got rid of him. What a circus. I used this company a few years ago with no complaints, but things have gone downhill since then. I scheduled two rugs to be cleaned during their 2-for-1 special, and I was told I would get an email confirming the pickup time (on a Saturday). The email never came; I called the day before, and they said that the ONLY time they could come get the rugs was during the hour I had a dentist appointment. After speaking with multiple people on multiple calls, they finally arranged to pick the rugs up before my appointment. Round two: When the rugs were due to be delivered two weeks later - same problem. No email confirming the time. I called, they insisted the email must have gone to spam (it didn't - I had checked), and eventually they gave me a window for delivery that took up half my Saturday. When the guy delivered the rugs, they were wrapped up and tied up, so I didn't see that one had come back in bad shape until after he left and I managed to unwrap it myself. (Having them lay the rugs back on your floor is an extra fee, apparently.) The owner of LICC was nice about agreeing to have the damaged rug picked back up and re-cleaned, though he said the problem was that my not-cheap rug was cheaply made (though that doesn't explain the stains on the back of the rug or why it had turned from beige to yellow while they had it). Okay fine - I agreed to them taking it back if he could guarantee that the pickup/dropoff would not be a nightmare, and that the delivery person would help me put it back under the heavy furniture when it was dropped off the second time. At this point, someone in the company admitted to me that their email system has been having problems and they know some customers aren't receiving their emails. Round 3: No email from the company the day before the intended pickup, and I got off work late and didn't get to call to figure out what was going on. They arrive pre-8am the next morning, and I miss the pickup as I am not yet conscious. I call the company, same song: you must have missed our email (that never came). They rescheduled it, but I had to roll the rug up and haul it downstairs to the doorman myself, since they wanted to pick it up while I was at work. Strike 5 - or really, who's counting at this point? Now for the final Round - re-delivery. They never arranged any delivery time, never mentioned any day at all, and again, I never got an email about delivery. I had vaguely begun to wonder when my rug was coming back, but thought I would hear from them when it was ready. Then today, I get a call from my doorman that they were there with my rug, while I am at work, with no prior notice. I call and am again told that I must have missed the email. THOUGH THEY KNOW FOR SURE BY THIS POINT THAT I DO NOT RECEIVE THEIR EMAILS, since I have told them multiple times! When you get wistful for the customer service of Time Warner Cable in comparison, something is wrong. Positives: My other rug came back nice and clean and not damaged. And the owner was quite nice. But I would rather have dirty rugs or just buy new ones every few years that do this again. read more

Second time using this company. Had my area rugs picked up. They hadn't been cleaned in some time. Quotes over phone were reasonable. They even accommodated the window of time by calling me 45 minutes before. The representative Norma- Jean was extraordinary. She was informative as well as thorough. It took about 2 weeks and my rugs were delivered back. Absolutely beautiful. I was well pleased with the service from start to finish. He gave me an estimate which was pretty close to the mark. Living in a coop, I stressed the necessity of sending insurance certification and adhering to bldg work rules. The men arrived on the dot, and patiently waited for quite a while due to a mixup on my end. Every piece of furniture looks cleaner and brighter. I asked if they could also clean the throw pillows, they conferred in Spanish .. no they couldnt .. then one filled the machine with water and in no time they'd cleaned both my love seat and arm chair/foot stool .. they left behind a huge wet floor where the machine sat ... they also didnt clean the foot stool as thoroughly as they might have ... i dont think i will use them again. read more

I have used LICC in the past to clean my couch and was happy with the service so called them again. They gave me a quote over the phone (for cleaning the same couch) and we scheduled the work. When they go to my apartment they doubled the quote - for the same couch they cleaned a year previous. I complained that I felt this was unfair. I spoke with three people, the last was Norma Jean. All were unwilling to admit that their quote was misleading and unwilling to grant the original quote or even consider a middle ground. More frustrating than the lack of experience in making quality quotes was the way I was treated over the phone. Moving up the chain of command, I expected more professionalism but was instead treated more disrespectfully. There are plenty of quality vendors out there so I will certainly not use this company again and would not recommend them at all. read more
