I initially had a lot of hesitation going to a 1 star Michelin restaurant, thinking it was overhyped and overpriced. COTE however defies expectations and delivered. My friend and I celebrated our birthdays and got the Steak Omakase which had the following: Initial Taster: - Bone Broth w/ Truffle - (S Tier) - savory, deep, rich umami flavor - Oyster w/ Uni - (S Tier) - an umami bomb. You get the taste of the sea. - Wagyu Tartare w/ Caviar - (S Tier) - bread is toasted to a crusty exterior and soft interior, topped with the Wagyu tartare and caviar you get another umami explosion. The rich saltiness of the caviar elevates this experience. The Wagyu tartare by itself however leaves much to be desired. Make sure to include the caviar in your bite. Banchan: - Cauliflower - (A Tier) - tender and marinaded well - Okra - (A Tier) - delicious the marinade was good - Chayote - (B Tier) - the texture and taste was okay - Mushrooms - (S Tier) - tender, juicy. It's so cool to find a Butcher's Feast tasting for only $82 in such an expensive city, and you get four meats plus an unlimited spread of snacks and stews. Lots of fun banchan, but save room for the pickled perilla leaves. Wrap around a piece of meat and add a dab of rice - it is the best thing I've ever tasted! Meats include hanger steak, ribeye, wagyu ribeye, and galbi shortrib. All delicious, just enough protein. The stews are deeply savory, but the standout is the Egg Souffle. It all ends with a simple Vanilla Soft Serve topped with a scrumptious soy sauce caramel. When you go eat in K-town, especially Korean bbq, you expect an abundance of food. When you go eat a Michelin-starred meal, you sometimes expect to go get a burger after dinner. Had wanted to go to COTE for a while and after trying to get a reservation for over a year, was finally able to get one - it was definitely worth the wait and effort. We had the Butcher's Feast with the Japanese A5 Wagyu added and also added the Korean Bacon as a starter. Fabulous meal - the meats were outstanding and perfectly cooked by our server. We especially liked the Galbi and the Japanese A5 Wagyu was a real treat. The accompanying dishes in the Butcher's Feast also complemented the meats well. The wonderful service added to the experience. One of the members of our party has difficulty with Jalapeños and they were graciously able to make adjustments to accommodate. We arrived much earlier than our reservation but were seated within 10 minutes. The booth fit seven of us comfortably. Originally there were five of us and they were able to accommodate and squeeze in two more people. Service was top notch...until the end. Our server kept disappearing but that's bc he was cooking for two other tables. And yes, I was surprised that they do all the cooking and we don't have to do anything like other bbq places. The service was amazing, as expected for a high end restaurant. The servers were all very attentive with refilling things throughout the time there. We got some sets and some a la carte. Echoing other reviews, COTE is a wonderful high-end KBBQ with an amazing atmosphere although I'm not sure what exactly makes it Michelin star worthy as it feels only a notch fancier than the "nice" ones back home. Service was friendly and attentive even though it was packed from the minute they opened. Shrimp cocktail was delish. Loved the banchan too. Egg soufflé was okay, maybe slightly salty with the cheese. Cocktails and mocktails both lovely. We ordered à la carte cause I preferred the steak cuts and went with an American wagyu strip that was perfectly marbled, a Neiman Ranch ribeye, and some Miyazaki wagyu. All of these came in 8oz portions aside from the wagyu and were great, along with the dolsot bibimbap that had crispy rice at the bottom, and the tangy and refreshing somyeon. 4 stars instead of 5 for the COTE galbi--have you had galbi with the texture of beef tongue? Amazing experience from start to finish. The quality of the meat here was incredible and worth every single dollar! Everything was so flavorful and the service was excellent throughout the meal. Our chef cooked everything perfectly right in front of us which was a very fun experience. My group shared the Butcher's Feast, which came with a variety of banchan. I especially loved all the pickled vegetables, specifically the cauliflower, and ended up eating so much of them. By the end of the meal, I was happily stuffed. We came here recently for a nice dinner out with extended family visiting from abroad. They were the ones who suggested coming here as the chef is apparently famous in Korea and the restaurant is Michelin rated. I'm not one to glaze Michelin ratings but in this particular example I could see the nice touches this restaurant offered. True to it's name, Cote, which means flower, is very inviting. Everyone headed in at exactly 5 pm when the doors opened for dinner. Many diners had adventurous happy looks as they doorbusted through the nightclub like atmosphere to their tables. We ordered the "Butchers feast". At around 80 something per person it was a decent deal. I guess they give a certain amount of grams of each meat for each diner that opts for the butcher feast. The consensus within our dinner party was that the most memorable meat item we enjoyed was the boneless kalbi. It was incredible. Tender and melt in your mouth. Superb rich flavor enhanced by the light marinade. Not chewy. Like the best part of a normal bone in kalbi. The other meats included were also great - we had dry aged usda prime ribeye, flatiron steak, and American wagyu. The flat iron was especially flavorful, especially when cooked a little longer to render it's fat. Very buttery beefy taste. Any of them could have been the star of the show at another restaurant and we would have been happy. Our server, Zachary, sprinkled a little bit of seasalt, which he described as a mix of "British, French and Korean" seasalt, to each piece of raw meat before he grilled them. He cooked the meat to everyone's preference. We also had steak tartare, which was quite good especially with the crispy puffs they were served with. Regarding the side dishes, the egg souffle was delicious. For a party of 5 they gave 2 dishes of egg and 1 refill would cost 10 dollars each. We skipped refills. The kimchi jigae was also great mixed with rice. Unlike most high end steakhouses I've been to, the servers here are young, like in their 20s. The lady who led us to our tables and helped clean them wasn't super friendly. Zachary the main server was pretty good. He gave us tips and insights on our meal and good service. He was friendly enough and a little bit more-so through the course of the meal. Cote wasn't the super personable, earnest service experience one may expect at a traditional steakhouse but that's ok. By some miracle, I finally was able to get a normal reservation time slot for 2 people online. I never tried calling so I'm not sure if that helps. Overall food was good and service is excellent, and I'm glad to have finally experienced Cote, but it shouldn't be that hard to get a reservation to eat there. It's dim and modern with club music playing. We got the shrimp cocktail, Butcher's Feast, A5 horizontal tasting, Fifth and Vine, Apollo, and Riesling. We were very full by the end. A5 is very rich and fatty so there isn't a need to eat too much of it. Favorite cuts are the American Wagyu and Sendai Ribeye. The soybean stew and soft serve with salted caramel were really enjoyable. Tables are expected to take 1.5 hours. They asked us to move our drinks to the bar at the end and put it on the house, which was really nice. Banchan were cauliflower, celtuce, perilla leaves, kimchi, radish, and pea shoots. Came here on February 10, 2026 with a group of six and overall had a really enjoyable experience. Service from the wait staff was decent, not the most standout service I've ever had, but they were attentive and made sure we had what we needed. The steak was thick, tender, and full of flavor. You can really tell you're getting high-quality cuts, and it shows in the taste. One thing to know before going: if you plan on ordering one of the prix fixe options, the entire table has to choose the same one (unless someone at the table is pescatarian, in which case they can order the seafood option). So your group will have to decide together between the Butcher's Feast or the Steak Omakase. Our table went with the Butcher's Feast and added a few extra items. We had to get the Butcher's Feast meal (of course), which honestly I thought it wasn't going to be enough, but it ended up being perfect because of all of the additional banchan they gave us and the side dishes we added on extra. We got a fish entree, kimchi fried rice, steamed egg, spicy kimchi stew, and more that I forgot. To be frank, the banchan selection was supreme and added so much nuance to the meal which would have been dull without it. The meat was good quality, but compared to the finest steakhouses I've been to in the city, it's not comparable. With each meat, they salted it nicely and cooked the pieces for you. I could literally eat their ssamjang paste (that yummy fermented soybean paste they bring for you to dip your meat in) by the spoonful, it's the best I've ever had so far. Honestly I wouldn't even bother with appetizers, you'll be stuffed enough with the feast. If I had more disposable income, I would certainly get the Steak Omakase with the wine pairing ($335 per person) but that would need to be a very special occasion. The caviar service also looks incredible but again, need mo' money haha. I have never walked out of this restaurant hungry and this girl loves to eat. If you do, you better be a professional athlete that burns 10k calories a day. COTE has never disappointed me and I try to go every 6 months to satisfy my expensive Korean BBQ cravings! Yessss I finally get to try Cote! There was actually a couple opportunities for me to try it sooner but each time someone was able to get a reservation, I was out of town :( This time around, I was able to snag a reservation because of my Amex Platinum perk (aka Resy nights). As someone who grew up eating AYCE korean bbq in San Diego, I actually really appreciated the higher quality A la Carte experience. At first it didn't seem like a lot of food but my friends and I left pretty full. I recommend getting the Butcher's feast. They were also kind enough to give one of my friends a bowl of fruit for dessert cause he's lactose intolerant. Pro tip: The bonchon and sides that comes in the butcher's feast is unlimited! Food was excellent--high quality across the board, and the service was outstanding. The drink prices felt a bit steep (a $100 bottle of Hwayo caught my eye), but I understand they may balance that with the relatively reasonable pricing for a Michelin-starred restaurant. This place is definitely fancy and expensive but so worth it. Dark place which I don't personally love but the food was delicious. It started my love for beef tartare. The "steak and eggs" was so good. Went for a birthday and you get a personal waiter that cooks the meat for you and takes care of the table. read more

I've been wanting to try COTE for a while and finally made it - though with a 5 PM reservation. The staff was welcoming, and the service was excellent throughout the meal. We had the Butcher's Feast and the Bulgogi Paella. The BBQ was incredible - so flavorful it didn't even need the ssamjang sauce. The A5 Wagyu was great, but the galbi was my favorite bite of the evening. All the sides were delicious, especially the scallion salad. The Bulgogi Paella was just okay - probably something I'd skip next time. We finished with the vanilla ice cream with soy caramel sauce, which was a perfect sweet ending. Overall, COTE absolutely lived up to the hype - amazing service, sleek ambiance, phenomenal meats, and a memorable experience. My family came here for Father's Day and we weren't really impressed. It's really dark here so my parents had a hard time looking at the menu, but we ended up doing the Butcher's Feast for everyone. We were a bit disappointed that the banchan, stew, and rice came midway, when we already started eating a lot of the meat. I would have expected them to come before they started grilling the meat so we can kick off our appetite and also eat them WITH the meat? Also, the lady assigned to our table wasn't really present so my dad grilled a lot of the meat for us.. The first round of the meat was salted too much and they did not like it at all ): I wish they asked us how much salt we would want before they sprinkled it on, because when we saw it happen even I was a bit shocked at how much salt she sprinkled. My parents and my brother liked the kimchi jjigae more than the meat, given its price and value of everything. The steamed egg was really fluffy which I personally liked! The meats were good, but nothing that wow'ed me and made me think that I specifically have to come back here for. They did come around and take a polaroid picture for us, which was pretty cute! But overall this was not your typical Korean bbq experience and feels like somewhere you would come for like.. a business meeting. TLDR: Good service and quality, but awful portions, over seasoned sides, and bad value. Before I rant, I want to say the food quality was good and the service was also decent. These are not my complaints. I took 3 of my friends here for a 7pm reservation after hearing great things about this place on yelp. After all, it's Michelin KBBQ. The ambience was quite vibey and dim, which was fun and as advertised! We all ordered the butcher box meal ($82pp before tip and tax) and were quite excited for our meal. When they brought the meat out, however, it looked like the portions were meant for 2, NOT 4. I was very surprised to how little meat they brought out (probably 8 total bites of meat, maybe 6 oz per person?) As someone who hopes to be relatively full after a meal, I was sorely disappointed knowing that I'd have to get full on banchan, ice cream, and water. When they brought out the sides (soondubu, a soy-based soup, and egg soufflé), I realized it was meant for all four of us to share. I didn't realize they were rationing! The egg was quite good but the soups needed to be drizzled over rice or else they were wildly over seasoned. I was done after a few sips of each soup. The banchan was good, and I don't have complaints. The staff brought out 3 rounds of kimchi and cauliflower (this one is sweet and delicious in my opinion). We finished with some carmel sea salt ice cream, and this was also delicious. Arguably more ice cream than expected. For the price, I'd say you're definitely better off with other KBBQ options if you want a filling meal. read more
