This such a unique place to eat lunch/have high tea on an already fun place to visit. I had previously walked around and past the Cotswold Cottage during wandering around Greenfield Village. You can not make reservations and the wait is on a first come first serve basis. We were there relatively early in their day. We probably waited about 40 minutes to get seated; it would have been faster if we weren't 6 people. Each table has it's own umbrella. Everyone is able to order their own amount. Our wait person was able to keep track of who ordered what food/drinks, etc. 5 of us went the full service and one went with the sweet version. Currently, you get to pick between egg salad and Michigan cherry salads for your sandwich. You then get the choice of hot tea or a iced tea flight. All for the same price. I would definitely come again as the food and service were awesome. As a annual member, you do get a discount on the food. read more

The cottage is one of most favorite places in Greenfield Village. I love the feel of being transported to another time. The flowers are absolutely beautiful and the building is quaint and adorable. The other thing I absolutely love is a tea party and this is one of my favorite places to have one. We have been here before but it did close down and was not operational last time I had a membership, but I am so excited they are back to business. Each time we are here, offerings are slightly different. In the past they had little tea sandwiches, this time they had full size croissants. You can pick either chicken salad or lavender egg salad, but since there were two of us, we had both and shared. I liked the chicken best and my child liked the egg, but they were both good. The egg had a very slight lavender flavor, good balance, not overwhelming or perfume forward or soapy. The chicken was great. We love the clotted cream and jam and the petit fours, pate a fruits, and macarons. The little fruit is a nice touch. For tea, I had English breakfast and my child had fruit tea. Both were nice. The fruit tea was very tasty and good for younger palates or for people who do not love tea, but you do need to like berry. This is a fun experience and a must-do if you love tea. This tea house was amazing every little girl or big girl dream. It makes you feel like Alice and Wonderful waiting for the Mad Hatter and White Rabbit to come. The tea was so good. Being that it was hot outside the waitress suggested our tea to be cold in the pot. Such a refreshing and great choice. The only downside to this story is you have to pay for Greenfield Village to experience the magic. Pricing was great for what you experience. BEAUTIFUL GARDENS! I happened to stumble upon this place while walking around the village. I got the sweets service with lavender tea. The scone was nothing special and a bit dry, but good with the jam and cream they serve with it. Tea was good, and upon paying I was given a satchel of some tea to take home! All in all, the food and tea are not the star. The star is the beautiful ambience while you are drinking your tea and enjoying your food. As THF members we used to come to Cotswold Cottage for tea pretty regularly in the summer pre pandemic. It was always such a lovely afternoon sipping on delicious tea and snacking on sandwiches and scones in the middle of the gorgeous garden. Then, ya know, the pandy, and while everything eventually reopened at THF the tea never did. That is, until this summer when they reopened for a few weekends in August. My family and I jumped at the chance to go. But unfortunately, so did everyone else! Haha. The wait was VERY long, and you couldn't leave the line. Now, there are worse places to stand than in the middle of a beautiful garden but it was a good 2.5 hours out in the direct sun which was not so great. But we managed to go during the old timey baseball world series games so my group took turns standing in line and going down the hill to the game to watch, grab a snack and fancy lemonade from the vendors by the field, so it could have been worse. Once we finally got seated we were helped very quickly. But just as fast as the food came so did the wasps. I'm a lapsed beekeeper so I know all too well about wasp behavior in mid August - September and let me tell you, they are HUNGRY and they don't care who is around as long as they can get to some food. SO yeah, it was a little stressful as each table would get swarmed as soon as their food came out. Knowing a bit about wasps I did know to put a little offering of jam on the table for them so for the most part they did leave us alone but there were definitely a few stressful moments. Now, Cotswold Cottage cannot control wasps, so I don't blame them for this at all, but it is the reality of outdoor dining in the late half of the summer, especially dining with sweet things like jam, cookies, and sugary teas. So my recommendation would be, if you're only going to reopen for a few weekends, do so earlier in the summer than later. Though my hope is after a bit of a test run last summer they'll reopen all summer long in 2024! That way the wait times won't be so intense and we can all enjoy the lovely tea and the beautiful setting more than once every few years. read more

I wanted to love this so much, but there were lots of challenges when we visited. I *love* tea. My kids *love* tea. We have tea parties at home. Having family in the UK and living there for a year, you come to appreciate a tea service! Location: Amazing. Gorgeous. Lovely. Historical. Well-tended. Beautiful Flowers. Pest control: Nonexistent. There were whole tables that couldn't be used because of the wasps. Anytime anything sweet was served, you instantly had an angry buzzing swarm of wasps dive bombing you. Completely took away from the experience. Timing: Maybe I'm missing something, but the timing that CC is open is confusing for me. I get that flowers in the summer are pretty, but baking in the sun 85 degrees + is not optimal time for warm tea drinking, I can see a lovely morning early summer tea (before wasps get bad) or even throughout the fall. I would love to sit down in the fall with a hot cuppa warming my hands. Once word got out, I think there would be quite a lot of interest. Waiting line: I feel like there should be a better solution here. If you want a table, you wait in line standing up on stone (not comfy) and watch other people eat/ get swarmed with wasps awkwardly. It's not very comfortable or classy for the price. There has to be a better solution here. I wouldn't come back because it's a premium service without any of the premium services. Menu: possibly think about adjusting the menu. The chicken salad wasn't very good. I took a couple bites and surrendered it to the wasps. I'd try to stick to one thing. It's a very small garden tea shop with small tables and long wait times. Maybe ditch the sandwiches (unless they are finger sandwiches or tea sandwiches) and really find your niche in tea service- that's why people are there. They want to enjoy the experience. This place has the potential to be quite lovely and a classy garden tea service, I just hope the necessary adjustments are made to make it successful. read more

Asked for a second glass of tea and the cup was dirty, asked for another and got charged for a tea I didn't drink. This place got me tripping and I will not be returning. The tea service is not what it use to be. The tea is still lovely but the food quality not what it once was. It doesn't have the tea service feel like it use to. The sandwiches, scones, and desserts used to be better before the pandemic and new head chef. I want the old "true" tea service back. read more

Located in Greenfield Village at the Henry Ford Museum, Cotswold Cottage is a small little house in the town. The tea takes place along the side of the cottage since it would be way too small to serve anyone. It's $20 for the full tea experience. The standouts were the sandwiches and the sponge cake, but everything else was just ok. The scone crumbled in my hands when I tried to cut into it or pick it up and the macarons were dry. The atmosphere was cool because of all the civil war re-enactment going on at the time, but it was also suuuuuper hot that day. We were served hot tea but we asked for cups of ice and ice water to stay hydrated. Overall, was it the best tea service I've ever had? No, probably not. The environment was cool but I don't know if I would like to experience an average tea service again. read more

I took my mom her for her birthday. It is such a beautiful place for tea! We each had the full service and I was able to get a vegetarian option. Both the sandwiches and the desserts were delightful and filling - we were unable to finish everything. I had the lavender tea and my mom had the northern berry. We had our own tea pot and all of the accompaniments one could hope for! The cottage is so lovely and the gardens are incredible! We've been members of The Henry Ford for 5 years. I have always wanted to try tea at Cotswold Cottage. I finally went for the spurge today. Charming, quaint, relaxing, and delicious all come to mind. I ordered the "Full Tea Experience" for $20. I do not like to spend a ton of money on "attraction food" in places like this because the quality and quantity of food often disappoints, but Cotswold Cottage is worth it. I was lucky enough to arrive right at 11:00 a.m. when they open, and the weather was perfect: mid-70's with a slight breeze. Because of this, I had no wait at all and I did not have any problems with bees or other insects. (I was approached several times by in-the-know birds and chipmunks, but that's much better and cuter than bees!) The gardens really are lovely to look at, it is fun to admire the flowers, sip tea, and watch people as they stroll by. I was enjoying my tea alone, but many tables around me were "splitting" just one Full Tea Experience. Sharing a Full Tea is like a nice snack, eating the entire serving alone was very, very filling. The teacups and saucers are lovely, the pastries and sweets arrive on a lovely, traditional tiered server. The sandwiches arrive in a box, I am sure because of sanitation reasons. I took my sandwiches out and laid them carefully on my server, it really was beautiful to look at. The hibiscus tea was quite tasty, I've never had hibiscus before and will probably order it again. The sweets are plentiful. The Full Tea comes with 4 sandwiches/canapes, one of which is egg salad with truffle oil. I cannot have the truffle oil due to a mushroom allergy, so my server was very careful and respectful of this. They swapped out the egg salad sandwich for another goat cheese/cucumber sandwich, and were careful to let me know that some cross-contamination could occur. It was fine. All in all, a lovely experience, and worth the price for a splurge or a treat now and then. It is definitely worth the time it takes to slow down, sip the tea, and enjoy the delicate (yet plentiful) food. I will be back with my daughters later this summer. read more

This place is a charming little stop for any visit to Greenfield Village. It's an outdoor tea garden, with wrought iron type chairs seated at matching tables with charming little umbrellas providing a bit of shade. Definitely not your usual little tea room. It is only open May 23 -September 2, 11am-4pm Thursday-Sunday. There are basically two items on the menu, full tea for 12 bucks for grown folks and a little tea with PB&J and sweets for the kiddos. I have no kiddos so I will only be speaking for the grown up fare. As a note: they do have some ala carte items but suck it up and get the whole shebang. You get a choice of iced tea or a variety of hot options (organic included). Both are nice but there is something special about the hot, brought out in it's pot wrapped in a tea cozy to keep it's heat. Then you get a double tiered tea tray with four cold tea sandwiches, things such as cucumber, egg, fruited chicken salad, spinach spread, cream cheese and walnut. These come on a mixed variety of breads too (the walnut hobo being my fave). Variety can vary. You also get a few cookies (molasses is common) and a lemony scone with a pot of Devon-ish cream (sorry but not the real deal, I am a tea veteran and can tell) and one of jam. I have heard people bitch about portion, they are obviously not afternoon tea regulars. It's tea people, not a meal. Its like a mid day snack/lunchy sort of thing. Trust me as far as tea goes this is big plenty. Twelve bucks is also not outrageously priced either. Again, it's tea people. You are paying for the experience, the variety and the charm. Service is indeed generally charming. The smiley servers will come back to check on you and make sure you are doing ok as far as your tea. It is a lovely little spot and people tend to linger a bit. They understand this and never make you seem rushed or anything. I like that. Try it out, it's always a nice little treat. Yup, this is good one. For Afternoon Tea service at only $12, this is a great place. It's not overly "frooh-frooh", no doilies or great Victorian decor, but the tea is good and the treats are quality. I loved the scones! The amount of treats you get is perfect and the service is great. We went in the summer and it made for a nice rest stop amid seeing the rest of the park. I think they have some special tea events during the year, but I'm not sure. I would love an indoor tea service (and by service it's not really an all out traditional service but more of an abbreviated pre-packaged "service" given to you, so just fyi you traditional tea go-ers) as we sat in the garden with tons of bees swarming us. Only bummer is you have to pay to get into the park first, usually $20, to get to this place, but it's a great park to visit. BEST OF ALL, the souvenir shop has great books, pots, and other tea service wares that you can purchase - many in the British tradition! It's over priced for sure, but it's quality. read more

It is fun to sit, sip, and people watch. I will be back again. There are some drawbacks. The wait to get in can be long during the high summer season weekends. The tea options are only between 4: 2 with caffeine and 2 without.?The sandwiches are pre-made so you don't get to customize, but you are getting a little variety with some of each four. My husband doesn't like sauces and each had something on it that he was not a fan of. The desserts are decadent and plentiful. If you are more picky on your sandwiches, the dessert/tea option is great. I'll be forcing my man to go back again for my birthday next year. read more

I couldn't wait to have tea at Cotswold Cottage at Greenfield Village! I had found it on their website and knew it would be fun. We arrived and there were only two other tables seated, perfect! It was a sunny, 74* day so I ordered hibiscus iced tea service, I just couldn't do hot tea. Everything was perfect! I love the little cookies, great scones and sandwiches, everything was wonderful. A price of $12 was fine as I was paying for the experience as well as the food. A few people were whining about the bees. There were very few and it's in a freaking cottage garden! Plus the bees could have cared less about us, they were in the flowers. It was a great experience, I highly recommend it! If you're allergic or afraid of bees, don't go and sit their whining and swatting at them, it's annoying! read more

I first came to tea here a few years back with my mom. I've since become a member & love bringing friends & family to greenfield village. This little gem is the cherry on top. They offer assorted sandwiches, scones, iced or hot tea (I love the hibiscus tea) served off a cart- so no substitutions. Im a vegetarian & 2 of the 4 sandwiches are meat free- (but not vegan) so it works for me. The full tea is perfect for 2, or snack for 4 so order accordingly. The scenery is great! It's set back off the busy area by the last train station. You can watch the trail load & unload then catch it back to the front if you are too full to walk! read more

I love that they have chosen to have a more "vintage" experience rather than a fast service junk food option AND the prices, 12 dollars for a full tea! are super reasonable which is so unlike many other attractions where every price is jacked up!!!
