Before I do business with any place I always check it out on Yelp, let's just say that this place is not a "5 STAR" dental office. I thought it was fair to rate them 2 stars only because of the staff. I should've known when I pulled up to the place how the inside would also look. All the equipment (and I mean ALL!!!) is so old that it's frightening to know that the DDS doesn't invest into anything new. So with that said I guess that's why they told me that I needed a $2400.00 procedure when I don't. I worked at Cottage Dental for about 4 yours and I have continued to come back as a patient for the past 2 years. Most of us leave a job and never want to return. But I truly believe in their dentistry & I know first-hand, behind the scenes, that they are genuine. I appreciate the fact that they always put the patient first. In general, Cottage Dental is number one in ethical, honest treatment; customer service; and communication. I switched over to Cottage Dental six years ago, and it was the best decision for my teeth. The technology alone was impressive (instant photos of teeth to examine results of care), televisions on wall for entertainment (or distraction). My former dentist had been lacking in any updates since the 1980s, plus he had not truly been cleaning inside my gum lines (as was evidenced by the complete care I was now receiving from Cottage). Recently, I had a protective layer placed on the top of a front tooth (to prevent gum-line exposure) with Dr. Pat. She was communicative about what she would be doing and was sensitive to any discomfort. I also appreciated how she helped me be proactive with my mouth: I didn't have a problem at the moment, but it was getting there. She identified it six months ago at a cleaning, and I took care of something before it actually became a pain. I am always a fan preventative care. She and all of the dental assistants are super sweet, kind, and considerate. The assistant always remembers what I do for a living and asks about my daughter (and I only see her once every six months! I have acquaintances who are not as aware.) If nothing else can convince you, maybe this will: As a person who has had at least 30 fillings (to be fair to myself, I replaced all the silver with porcelain) and used to cry before every dental visit as a child, I now actually LOOK FORWARD to going to the dentist. I had a have a filling replaced. The Cottage Dental team sold me on a laser procedure that promised to get rid of the needles and drills. I'm not exactly afraid of those things, but I absolutely hate the lagging effects of the anesthesia (drooling mess) and drills. They said they are just 1% of the dental offices in the country to be certified with this laser drill. Just had the procedure yesterday and I have to say I was absolutely happy. 15 minutes, was able to eat right after, and no after effects. No pain, no issues. Extremely pleased as the procedure delivered exactly what was promised. For those who are looking for a more painfree and high service dental experience, I would recommend Cottage Dental. read more

This place is AMAZING!! Like many people, prior to coming to Cottage Dental I had high anxiety about the dentist due to previously bad experiences with a dentistry chain I will not name. Since coming to Cottage Dental 3ish years ago, I no longer have anxiety about seeing my dentist. I now go every 6 months to have my regular cleanings because I know it will be a positive experience at Cottage Dental. I've had old fillings redone, and they make sure I'm completely numb before starting (seems like a no brainer, but I was traumatized as a kid by drilling with no numbing shot). Everyone is always smiling and explains every procedure to you, even simple cleanings! If you ever feel discomfort, just put your left hand up, and they immediately stop. And, does your dentist TEXT you? I don't mean generic appointment reminders, I mean offering to get me in sooner than my originally scheduled appointment! After my treatment today, the dentist actually text me to make sure I was doing OK, like are you serious?! Nowhere else will you get such a comfortable, genuine dental experience. I now live in LA and still make the drive to Fullerton. Why? Because they are 100% worth the drive. read more

Quick, painless and to the point! Had a good experience here. They have a charging station for your electronics whilst you wait, friendly staff and knowledgeable to say the least. I had a filling done and it was less than 20 minutes! They have a massage chair which takes out any nervous kinks you may have, and Maddie and Dr. Ortega really know what they are doing. I'm always super nervous at dentists, but these ladies know what they are doing! They never made a move that they didn't explain beforehand, which calmed my nerves immensely. And they constantly asked how I was doing. Bonus: they never asked me questions that weren't "yes" or "no", so there wasn't that awkward "I can't really talk because my mouth is full" thing. I got a filling done by them today, and it always takes a little more anesthesia to get me numb. Dr. Paco explained that she would do the initial anesthetic, and then move very slow to make sure I wasn't in pain. The moment I felt something, she stopped and administered more anesthesia. As nervous as I was, I left feeling really cared for and listened to. 10/10 would recommend! read more

I have never been to a dentist's office where I felt so comfortable and taken care of. I have been there three times: for a consultation with invisalign, a cleaning, and for a filling. At each appointment, the staff walked me through all of my options, considering the best financial options for me and the options best for my oral health. They provided me with all of the necessary procedural and financial information (filling and invisalign), letting me review the information and giving me the option to accept or reject either procedure. When I decided against invisalign for financial reasons, suggesting that I may go to a less expensive orthodontist, Dr. Nguyen was incredibly understanding and ecouraged me to take the best course of action for myself. The cleaning and filling were very efficient (my filling, which was on my very back molar, only took a half an hour!) and the staff walked me through everything they were doing. Via informative videos, very thorough explanations, and before and after photos of my teeth (for filling), the staff of Cottage Dental has equipped me with excellent knowledge of my oral health status. Dr. Nguyen and her staff are incredibly friendly and clearly know their way around teeth! My filling looks and feels great, and I am prepared with the knowledge necessary to combat my developing periodontis. In summary, I will be a loyal customer to this knowledgeable, caring, and professional dentist's office as long as I'm here in Orange County. read more

Going to the dentist is always a difficult experience for me. I hate the xrays to the shots to the pain after the procedure is over. My experience at Cottage Dental, however, was the complete opposite. I was kindly greeted by Tiffany at the front desk when I first walked in. She gave me a brief tour, showed me the coffee station and phone charging area, and made me feel very welcomed. I went in for my appointment and was being helped by Maddie. She was very friendly, answered my questions, and gave me a brief heads up about what I would be doing during my visit. She took my xrays and it was the first time I felt NO pain during an xray. She was skilled, gentle, and quick! Dr. Ortega came in, introduced herself, and started answering some more questions and going over my xrays. She was very patient and helpful! When I came back to get my fillings I again received a very nice welcome, felt absolutely no pain when Dr. Kim gave me my shots, and Dr. Ortega and Maddie checked on me constantly to make sure while they were completing my fillings that I was comfortable. Andrea was very helpful in getting my next appointment set up and made sure to ask me questions about myself while I waited for things to print. It was a very personal touch! I'm so happy to be posting my first-ever Yelp review! My friend recommended Cottage Dental to me about 8 years ago, and I have been going there ever since. Everyone who works there is SO friendly and nice, including the dentists, hygienists, and front desk staff. I have always been intimidated by going to the dentist - but not here. They are so gentle and professional. I don't even mind going to the dentist now - and I go often because I have Invisalign braces. Going to the dentist at Cottage Dental truly is a pleasant experience. I drive about 45 minutes each way just to get there, because it is so worth it. I also do so with my 4-year old daughter, who I take to their Brea office. I have always found it hard to find a good dentist, doctor, etc. So when I find a good one I stick with it. I highly recommend Cottage Dental, they are the best!!! I found out I will be done wearing my Invisalign braces at the end of August. First time patient. I was a walk in and hoped they could squeeze me in. The receptionist said that they were fully booked that day. I told the receptionist I was leaving out of town the following day and she told me to wait a second and she went back and talk to the doctor. She told me if I had time to wait around he would try to squeeze me in. He did and he did a wonderful job. My first couple visits I felt like I was being taken care of and comfortable because we all know the dentist isnt the best but that quickly changed and had me so unhappy leaving because the first couple visits we had a treatment plan then another thing and another thing and another kept getting added to the chart and the bill at the time I didnt have dental insurance so 1,800 turned into a total of just under 6,000. Yes I know my fault for no insurance and not there fault because prices are what they are but when you scare a patient into treatment thats not right. I expressed if it could wait till I got my insurance in about a month or urgent of course they said urgent. Once I left I sat in my car and decided to get a second opinion because they wanted to add 1,300 more and the other dentist said you can hold off just be sure to get back. Cori was the front desk and she was the best part of the whole place! Sadly she no longer works there because I saw her at my consult for a root canal specialist office... I absolutely do not recommend they build and build your bill, if you have insurance you dont think twice. Also one major point that needs to be stated is that they did 2 crowns that never sat right and HURT for 1.5 months came back said that just eat on the other side it may take 1 month 2 months 6 months depends on the patient, new dentist shaved it down in one day and no pain! read more

I have been going to this office since 2007. On my own insurance since 2011. I like that the staff is all female! They are very gentle and they listen to your needs. If you have questions or concerns about anything, they will not hesitate to reassure you about a procedure or treatment options. I like that during the cleaning, if you feel any discomfort, they stop and let you rest before they continue. The doctor's really want you to feel comfortable. Also, they don't pressure you to do anything. If you need to get any work done, they tell you what and where, but you don't have to feel like you HAVE to get it done right that second. Cottage Dental has changed the way I feel about dentist. Prior to coming I had not been to a dentist in 7 years. I would take pain killers on a daily basis for tooth discomfort and avoid the dentist at all cost. Finally a co-worker recommended this place and I fell in LOVE. The people here make you feel welcomed from the moment I enter. They listen and understand my worries and go above and beyond in making me feel comfortable. The girls at the front desk walk me through, in detail, what my insurance covers and what/why I have spend. Dr. Karen and Crystal are always a joy to be around. They are just so friendly and professional. Crystal does this breathing thing with us, "breath in, relax shoulders, relax your arms...," and so on. The little things, like the breathing exercise, makes a huge difference. I have been coming here for the past 1 1/2 and now I no longer fear dentist or clowns (I always sit in the clown room). So far I have referred my sister, mom and hopefully soon my little brother will be calling them up. read more

I hate dentists...getting that out of the way, Cottage Dental did a fantastic job on my wife and my teeth. I had been telling myself that I need to get into the dentist for a cleaning for a while when I woke up with a pain in the back of my mouth. After a couple hours of agony I realized I needed to find a dentist. After a quick yelp search I found Cottage Dental. I called and they were able to squeeze me in the same day. When I went in they were incredibly friendly. After a quick chat and a tour of the office I was brought back for some x-rays and a good tooth cleaning. Discovered I needed to get a tooth removed and scheduled it for the following Saturday. When I was leaving I got an emergency phone call from my wife saying her crown had cracked. I went back into the office and one of the receptionists helped me calm my wife down and was able to get her an appointment the next day. She also had a great visit when she went in. When I went back in for my extraction I went to the children's location and received outstanding service. The dentist numbed my mouth with no pain and was able to extract the tooth very quickly with as little pain as possible in the situation. Seriously Cottage Dental, while I am still not a fan of the dentist, I am a fan of you guys and will be returning for all of my dental work from now on. Thank you! read more

Dr. Nguyen was fantastic! I had a crown done, which was my most evasive procedure yet, and I felt absolutely no pain. She was great monitoring how I felt all along. The fact that the office can work on you and fit you with a permanent crown all at once is so a big plus! Beats taking unnecessary extra days off work. This place is great! The staff really care about the patients and ensure that the patients know what to expect and that they are comfortable. I would feel uncomfortable and unsure of the status of my teeth and overall health of my mouth at my previous dentist, but here I am able to ask questions and actually see the process of some procedures. They also have a variety of high tech equipment that my previous dentist did not have. I would definitely recommend this facility.
