The seasonal salad was so refreshing and perfectly dressed. Absolutely loved the mushroom gnocchi and my fiancé raved about his steak au poivre (hanger steak). Absolutely loved our experience at this restaurant. We even came back a second night for another glass of that gorgeous bubbly with another appetizer. The wine list is absolutely stunning. I personally sold French wine for years and this was one of the most gorgeous wine lists I've ever seen. I absolutely loved how many options were by the glass. Two gorgeous bubbly options by the glass, a brut rosé and a dry chenin. The foie gras appetizer was delicious, the second night we came back and had the escargots. Our entrées were also delicious. My fiancé had the halibut and I had the duck. Again, both so delicious, the servings overall are a really nice size! Sometimes at French restaurants, the servings can be quite small, but these were nice portions. The service was top-notch and our server was in incredibly attentive. My mom and I decided to dine here for dinner on our first night in Maine and were very happy with everything we had to eat. Our server, Charli, was outgoing, polite and had a lot of knowledge on the food items. She recommended the oysters that are locally harvested and these were by far the best oysters I've ever had. I eat a lot of oysters living in South Florida, but these were so fresh and perfectly salty from the ocean water. The apple mignonette that comes with them is sooo delicious and pairs sooo nicely with the briney taste of the oysters. We also had their version of a french onion soup, onion soup gratinee, and it's like an elevated version of the classic. It has more of a tomato-ish broth in my opinion, but was absolutely delicious. It was really hard to pick a main course because we wanted to try everything off the menu, but we went with the mushroom gnocchi and scallops panzanella. Again, DELICIOUS. I loved how thinly sliced the mushrooms were because they incorporated so well with the gnocchi and sauce. The scallops were perfectly cooked and paired nicely with the fresh, lightly cooked vegetables. We were in Bar Harbor for 5 days. We ate at different places everyday. We stumbled on Brasserie Lebrun and my girlfriend wanted to try it. We went in with no reservations and they sat us at the communal table. We had a bone marrow app that was outstanding. Then for the main course she had the lobster tail stuffed with crab and I had an amazing fish dish. We both agreed that it was the best restaurant we went to there. Everything was cooked perfectly, presentation was perfect and the staff was really nice. There are so many choices in BH in the summer... at the high end, Lebrun may be the most expensive. They act like it. The quality is certainly "above average" but get that wallet open... finally it just doesn't work. The steak was "ok".... The salmon smelled like fish (a salmon no-no)... the herb butter and bread were stand-outs... the wines are marked up far too high... this is Havanas "sister"... go there instead... still a wallet killer, but at least then you'll die with a smile on your face. read more

My wife and I went for dinner during our first anniversary week. We are so glad we did! The food was absolutely amazing. I got the lobster bisque as my appetizer, and as a chowder/bisque snob, I can say it was hands down one of the best I had this summer. My wife had the seasonal salad, which had watermelon, feta, and avocado, and she absolutely loved that as well. Our entrees were even better. They had my favorite steak preparation, au poivre, and it was up there with one of the best steaks I ever had. My wife, a vegetarian, got the mushroom gnocchi, and she loved that too, and since I got to finish it, I can vouch for it as well. On top of the amazing food, the service was exemplary. Our waiter, Mark, was attentive, kind, funny, knowledgeable, and pointed us in the right direction for our choices whenever we needed assistance, especially when we couldn't decide on dessert. We were with daughter and son in law and 1 year old grandson and it was my birthday and we were thinking carryouts but they didn't offer them when we called, so we took an early dinner reservation. They seated us promptly even though we showed 10 minutes early. Very well staffed and professionally staffed. Bartender was very pleasant as I was scoping it out. Decent wine list from reasonably priced to expensive. Since we had a 1 year old, we hurried process and still got excellent service and excellent food. If you want a top notch meal and have eaten enough lobster rolls, and can't go to Rosalie's for a good cheap pizza again, this was by far the best meal we ate in Bar Harbor and my daughter thought it was the best steak frites she had ever had. read more

The restaurant is just gorgeous with the navy and gold. You just know you are in for a beautiful experience. The food was just impeccable. The drinks were perfect. The service very good. More accurate rating is 4.8/5. The bread is very straightforward, just the smell of wheat flour. The butter is special. The appetizer - braised ox tail is the best of the night, complex and integrated in both texture and flavor. The sherry gastrique makes the braised ox tail has extra sweetness, and you may feel "that's enough" in the second or third spoon of any sweet meat, the pine nuts helped to avoid this issue. The nuts also help you finish the rest smashed potato on the plate without feeling boring. The short ribs and scallops are also good. Something special about their Brussels sprouts is the selection of the similar small size, and the apricot pieces also adds a special highlight to it (sweet like any other regular Brussels sprouts, but you will remember this dish particular for the apricot). If I visit again, I may also try the duck breast and the crème brûlée. P.S. service is 5/5. read more

Came here on a Saturday night at 8 pm. Still very busy at this time - reservation recommended. Service and food were great. The restaurant felt like an IKEA room, but I came here for the food. I got the mushroom tart (vegetarian) which was a 10/10. I got the steak frites, which despite bad reviews, was pretty good! I got a 6 oz filet rare. I do wish they had a chimmichurri sauce along with it. My partner got the seared tofu which was okay. Somewhat bland, but still okay. Espresso martini was also delish! read more

PLEASE PLEASE DO YOUR NEXT EVENT HERE My Husband and I eloped in Acadia, and had a small group of people join us. We wanted to host a dinner to welcome everyone and thank them for coming. I had reached out to Brasserie LeBrun in April for an October wedding. They had a contract prepared so that we could rent their private wine cellar space. As we got closer, their team confirmed the menu, food allergy accommodations and wine selection with us. Upon arrival into Bar Harbor, they met us the day prior to tour the space and allowed us to store our guest gifts at the restaurant, which was so kind. Overall, I cannot begin to describe how great of an experience this was. The amount of care, detail and love that their team put into our event was so special. They went so far above and beyond what we expected.. One example: The created a specific tasting menu for our event that had our new name on it which was sweet enough, but then they even laminated a copy for us to save! Everything from writing our new name on the menu, accommodating every request we had, top tier service, incredible food and wine... end to end it was such a great time. Their team took such good care of us and our guests. Every single person commented on how delicious the food was. The space was beautiful and private, which was so nice. We didn't have to worry about a single thing. Caroline handled everything so beautifully and was so proactive. I could ramble on how great they were to us forever. They provide a farm to table experience by supporting and serving local farmers cheeses, produce, and meats. Delicious! Brasserie Lebrun is a new addition to Bar Harbor and what an addition it is. This might be my new favorite restaurant in Bar Harbor and ranks right up there with my other favorite restaurant, Havana. Coincidentally, they belong to the same restaurant group so they know what they are doing. Beautiful and open inside with a great bar. They have a wonderful wine list and the cocktails are on point. We started with a dozen east coast oysters and they were absolutely delicious. Perfect French Onion Soup with crunchy bread and not covered in cheese. I had the Steak Frites and it was wonderful. Great flavor and the steak was cooked to perfection. A must stop when visiting Bar Harbor. Put this on your list and call for reservations. You won't be disappointed. read more

I was excited to see this place open up. BH needs more upscale restaurants and more restaurants that don't revolve around seafood. Unfortunately our experience was pretty underwhelming. My family shared steak frites (the 10 oz NY strip), the roasted half chicken and the gnocchi with parmesan cream sauce. The chicken was decent, pretty much what I expected, if a bit bland. The gnocchi and the steak frites were disappointing though. Gnocchi was gummy and the sauce tasted like more of a cheese sauce than a cream sauce - although I guess maybe that's what I get for ordering Italian food at a French restaurant. But the steak was rough. Just a really bad cut of beef that was gristly and tough, and not much flavor except from the butter on top. We did have a really excellent appetizer (the mushroom tart), the French fries that came with the steak were great, and the staff was very nice, but I can't give more than 3 stars when 2 of the 3 mains were so underwhelming. Maybe they're just working out the kinks and things will improve. I think this is only their second season open. read more
