I understand we're all dealing with Covid-19 but hopefully a restaurant that is still serving food will not forfeit quality. I come to the area of this restaurant whenever I visit my mom. We loved it! We did a pick up last night and it was awful! The dumplings were watery and the actual dumplings were tough. The potato cheese soup was just nasty. It both tasted and looked awful!! Well, my kids earned free meal coupons and were excited to use them. After having a glass of tea, Sprite and 2 glasses of water spilled all over us with no clean table offered, we stood there and waited, then had it dripping off the edges when they told us to sit down. Had to ask for more drinks, they forgot my daughters order when the rest of us were served, got my sons order wrong and had to ask twice to have it corrected. Had to be reminded twice for the dessert that was supposed to come with the 3 kids meals. When it came time to leave they attempted to charge for drinks which were included with the meals and offered no apology etc for soaking us with our drinks or us being there almost 2 hours for 3 kids meals. Needless to say the kids were very disappointed Well the manager called a couple days after this review and apologized for everything that happened. He said he would mail more cards for the kids. Made my first visit to the Cotton Patch here in Brownwood yesterday for dinner. Walked in the door and saw that it is another very generic chain restaurant. It had the usual decor and loud conversation noise that is so prevalent anymore. We were with another couple that I was meeting for the first time and right away I knew that conversation would be difficult. We were seated at 6:40 and the long wait for dinner began. Our waitress proved to be very inefficient and inattentive. We did get our water and tea rather promptly and some very stale dinner rolls and then sat and waited 30 minutes for her to take our food orders. After another 20 minutes our food arrived and it was very good. The chicken fried chicken was cooked very well and the gravy was delicious. The portions were ample and it was a satisfying meal. Still wondering however why the dinner rolls were served 45 minutes before the meal?? Probably will not return as it was really nothing special. Has to be more and better choices nearby, I hope. Back recently for round two, glad we gave them a second chance. Chicken fried steak was big and delicious as were the green beans and cinnamon apples. Rolls were fresh and delicious. Tasteless food. You can open a can and get more flavor. Service was good. I had fish and chips. Fried okra and black eyed peas. I've never seen anyone mess up fried okra but it was all tasteless. I would give this NO STARS if it were possible. Today we dined in here for lunch. The food itself was passable but the service was LACKING! AWFUL. NONE of the employees had on name tags. Our waitress took our drink orders, brought the drinks back, took our food order and disappeared. She can back and cleaned up the tables that were next to us MAKING SURE to push them under the table so they made a VERY IRRITATING noise. Try picking them up next time. When she did come back, she threw our food down in front of us, she didn't bother to ask if we needed anything else. I had to get up and get my own rolls, butter, salt and pepper. Went to eat there on a Tuesday evening with a group. There were 5 adults a toddler and an infant. Called first to make a reservation, but were told it was first come first serve. When we arrived we were told it would take 20 minutes before a table would be ready. An hour and 20 minutes later we were finally seated. Several empty tables and several people seated before us that came in after us. The hostess told us several times that they were getting a table ready for us. When we were finally seated almost half of the items we tried to order they were out of. No broccoli, green beans, salad, steak fingers, chicken fried steak, plus others. Most of the experiences I've been told about our local Cotton Patch location sound have not been favorable, from lost orders to food making them sick. My own experience here was less than enjoyable, and that's being kind. There are literally three places within walking distance that serve a better chicken fried steak that won't make you potentially ill. The one thing I'll give them is they serve alcohol, so at least you can have a drink if you have a friend that insists on going despite your numerous suggestions otherwise. read more

We love the Cotton Patch in Midland so we decided to eat here on our trip. My husband loves the "Shrooms" so we ordered 1/2 order since we wanted dessert also. I ordered off the lunch menu 1/2 salad and cup on potato/cheese soup, he ordered from regular menu; meatloaf with Mac n cheese and French fries. My salad looked delicious but the blue cheese was questionable. I've had this salad before but it had a bad after taste. The soup didn't look to fresh but it tasted ok. My husband was shocked when he got his order and saw his portion of meatloaf. It was actually kind of funny. He did question the waitress on the porter and she apologized saying she thought he wanted the "lunch portion ". I actually did not see the meatloaf meal on the lunch menu. She kindly took it and returned w a bigger portion apologizing again. After I had already finished my meal, the manager brought him the portion the waitress had taken. By then it was cold and he actually didn't eat it. He said it tasted like dog food; although it did look pretty good. The best part of the meal was the "Shrooms". We were actually charged for the bigger portion, when we actually ordered the half portion. We asked @ that also and she said she was sorry, but that we had gotten the big portion. We've eaten at other Cotton Patch and know for a fact the large portion of Shrooms is so big, we never finish it. So we're pretty sure it was a half order, but paid for larger order. We definitely were not impressed with the food or waitress not paying very good attention to our actual food order. Sorry but we probably most definitely won't be eating at this Cotton Patch again. Due to wrong order and bad tasting food, we decided not to order dessert. read more

Food is delicious- we have been several times. The downside is that each time we've been, it's taken ATLEAST 15 mins to get greeted. Tonight, we decided to give it a try one more time. But yet again, 15 minutes went by and still no greet; no rolls, no waters-nothing! I don't even know who our server was, the floor staff are incredibly unorganized and clearly don't give a f**k about the customers. I don't recommend until their service improves. read more

Always excellent service and wonderful food. (Austin is the best!) We recently had a very negative experience at a different Cotton Patch, in another town, and were given vouchers for free meals. We asked if they would honor them here and, of course they did. But not only that, the manager also gave us our kids' meals free - saying he wanted to ensure all was made right. That is amazing customer service - when this location wasn't even at fault. We will go back again and again. I can't say enough good things about the wonderful service at this location. read more

Had lunch here on the way through town and it did not disappoint!! The bathrooms were clean, we were seated/served quickly and friendly staff. Left my phone in the truck so I didn't get a picture, but the fish tacos were by far the best I have eaten. I poured the jalapeño ranch on them and it hit the spot. Don't go to Cotton Patch, and order all you can eat catfish! We had the worst experience today. Our waitress didn't even know they offered it as a Memorial Day special. She had to ask the wait staff, and none of them knew anything about it. They couldn't find a "button" on the cash register to ring it up and no one knew what to do. It was ridiculous. Finally a manager showed up and they figured out how to order it. Then it still took 20 minutes. I had my salad for 10 minutes before my husband got his fish, and then it was cooked in grease that needed to be changed and the fries were cold. The cooks were acting cockey too, and were very disrespectful. We were sitting right by the kitchen, and heard every word. I was so disappointed. I can stay home and get much better treatment and service. We talked to a manager, but got nothing comped. Needless to say we won't be going back. The food took forever to arrive. When it did arrive, items were missing. The quality of the food was poor. Our server was bad. He skipped one of our group, did not bring things we asked for repeatedly, and continued to pester us about whether or not we were done with our food. Even trying to take plates of food we hadn't started eating yet, asking if we were done when we clearly hadn't started.
