I called again at 5 inquiring about our order cause we have somewhere to be and she then tells me the mashed potatoes in our order won't be ready for 20 more minutes. I said just do French fries then. Were they just gonna let us sit here for that long? Who is running this joint? I haven't had a problem when I eat inside but when we order to go or get it delivered it seems the quality control goes out the window. We ordered the chicken fried chicken as well as the fish tacos. The chicken was dry and over cooked and the fries were cold and soggy. The fish tacos were burnt missing half the topping and the salsa that comes in the side. I also found a bone in the fish. Again I have never had a pro alien with the food eating in the restaurant but I will advise everyone not to order Togo or have it delivered ! read more

I've picked up to-go lunch here several times and have never been disappointed in the food. The tilapia is cooked to perfection! Only complaint is sometimes the to-go person is better about getting everything together than other times. Also, sometimes you get more rolls & cornbread. read more

Don't waste your money on the "Fish" tacos. They would be better called "Veggie Tacos with fish garnish" as there was only a small strip of fish about 1/2 the width of tortilla in each one. I could not taste the fish and had to look with a fork to find it. The veggie taco also had a thin sauce in it that ran out all over as you tried to eat it. Only way to avoid was with a fork. I guess that is why they came in a bowl. Service was average for a restaurant that was not busy. Had to flag waiter to get drink refills. He never asked if food was ok. This has to be the worst Cotton Patch I have ever been to because the service was bad. Food on the most part was on par, except one person in our party received a cold meatloaf that had to be sent back to reheat. Biggest problem we had was the server, Katherine, was slow and forgot many things, i.e. to bring the rolls after being requested, extra hot sauce for the chips.(brought after we had finished eating the chips) She never asked about drink refills, we had to ask. We must have gotten the new girl because it was obvious the other waitresses were taking better care of their patrons and much quicker. Not to mention when we asked for straws because they were NOT put in three of the four silverware/napkins rolls; she brought bar drink stir/straws and "handed" them to us by placing them on the table. (very unsanitary, especially with COVID still lurking) Also it was obvious most of the staff did not seem happy when more customers came in, which tells me they were generally unhappy to be there. Went on Mother's Day this year and there was a wait. They said about 20 minutes and that's about what it was. All the tables were full, servers bustling around, and the kitchen hopping. The food was great comfort food as expected but you know the surprising thing is that the service was so good on such a stressful day for this staff. We ordered a meal for curbside pick-up at the Ennis location. Pulled in 30 minutes later for pick-up. Twice we were told "order was finishing up and would be ready in 5 minutes". It was over an hour before we finally got the order and everything was cold and mushy. 4 dinners @ $80. Cold. You couldn't pick up a piece of catfish without it falling apart it was so soggy. We went to Ennis Cotton Patch last Friday. Because we live more than 20 miles from Ennis, we called to make sure the restaurant was open before leaving. We were told the dining room was open. We came mid-afternoon to miss the Friday evening rush hour. There were a few customers there and we were seated when we arrived. We waited 20 minutes with no service. During this time the other customers finished their meals and left. Finally, a girl came to our table and asked us if someone had given us water. We told her no and then she said, "We're closed." Let's start with the smell when we entered the restaurant, smelt like a football locker room after a 100 degree texas summer day. Then my youngest goes to the bathroom where the floor was flooded in pee... disgusting! We should have gotten up and left then but noooo I was determined to make the best out of it. Then here comes the food, I ordered the light blacked tilapia with steamed veggies. The veggies were cold, and not even sliced. I got a half of a squash, a full head of broccoli, and 4 frozen carrots. Then I go to take a bite of the fish and soon as I cut it the smell about made me gag!! It was rotten! Great place for down-home cooking. I go here for lunch on occasion, especially when I need the oil changed in my vehicle (there's an Express Lube nearby). The menu has lots of options, and the portions are pretty large (oh, and their rolls are delicious!). Lunch hour can get crazy - be prepared to wait for a seat - I'd recommend getting there by 11:30-45 to beat the crowd. read more

Well I hate to do this... but I have to say that we have now had two disappointing experiences here. Today we walked in and half of the restaurant had empty due to dirty unbussed tables sprinkled throughout the restaurant. So while 50% of the tables where empty a pack of people waited in the front of the restaurant for up 20 minutes for an open clean table. We were looking at dirty tables the entire time we ate. It was as though there was no management there the entire time we were there. Our waiter Tristin just kept standing in the back corner talking with other waiters while we never received the rolls we requested. Also the chicken and dumplings was watery and all dark meat... not at all what we had last time we visited there..: so we are now taking is off of our list of places to stop. read more

Every time we visit this location they get something wrong with our order, even if we order straight from the menu. On one visit, it took them three tries to get my sister's order right, and she ordered straight from the menu with no changes. The kitchen staff needs more training. The waitstaff is always friendly but they need more training as well. My cousin and I were there on Saturday and obviously still deciding on what to order as our menus were open and looking over the choices. The server - although very friendly - asked us at least three times if we were ready to order. When we were ready, my cousin requested no blue cheese on her salad - twice - and it came out with blue cheese on it. Not the end of the world but a pattern. Also, the outside grounds need attention. We aren't from the area, so we had no idea what was around.. Cotton Patch Cafe was close, so we thought why not? We waited about twenty minutes for a spot, which was whatever.. even though we could clearly see several tables that would be available if someone took the time to clean them.. again, whatever. We get seated and our table is messy. There are visual shoe prints on it, which was not exactly appealing. We asked the waitress if we could get it cleaned and received a rag. Thanks? Anyway, the waitress was obviously busy, and it took a while to get our order in.. but it wasn't a big deal. No rush. Food came out probably 20 minutes after ordering. In total we had probably been there about an hour before we got our food. It was a Sunday though, the after church crowd was in. I get it. I was hungry.. but the food was a disappointment. I ordered street tacos and they were about as bland as could be. I did like that they added nachos as a side and I enjoyed those. The rest of the table was pretty meh in regards to their food as well. I don't like to trash small business, which is why I gave it 3* instead of 1 or 2, but something's gotta give. The same tables we saw in the back that needed cleaned off when we were waiting in line STILL needed it when we left. My wife and I just love this place. The staff are all very good, polite and check on you often. The facility is really clean along with restrooms. Well, it's a chain so you get chain quality food. Which is okay. It's your typical salty, fatty, home cooking's style food. The lunch portions are the right size to not leave in a coma. Oh and the adult beverages actually aren't a bad price, we got 3-4 dollar cocktails for our birthday girl. The place is new, clean, and with clean bathrooms. The food here has always been good. What I'm really not happy with is the service. For the second time I've had to wait for more than 45 minutes for curve side pick up. First they tell me it's gonna be 25 to 30 minute till the food is ready. Get there at the 30 minute mark and the food still isn't ready. The girl says, it's gonna be another 10 minutes. Water arrived & we were told they were out of sweet tea but they were making some & it would be out quickly. We said unsweetened okay & she brought it & it was chicken express sweet. We ordered a veg plate with salad, a combo ck fr steak & chicken & a burger with no cheese but with sweet potato fries. Took a good while to get the food (again, they were not busy, even though everyone was running around. When our order arrived, fried okra was missing from veg plate (promise it would be right out - 5 minutes later), mashed potatoes were barely warm & chicken & steak were barely warm. The burger arrived fairly warm & looked great, but without mustard, mayo & with regular fries instead of sweet potato. Had to wave waitress down for mustard, mayo & ketchup. It was 5 min later before I got these & by the time I took apart the burger to put them on, it was cold. The burger was very done & cold & I managed to eat half of it just because I was hungry. I really like the Cotton Patch. The veggies are my favorite to be honest. I met my inlaws here for lunch on a Sunday. I chose this place to meet at bc I love the CP, and bc I didn't want to drive all the way to Corsicana. Not only was our service poor, the food was not good. I believe I got 8 french fries as one of my sides. My chicken was over cooked. I will say that my broccoli rice casserole side was a WIN!! I've experienced better at other locations, but this one was a let down. read more

We are all grabbing gum at the moment to get the food taste out of our mouths. Yep. That bad. Where do I begin? They HAVE to be short staffed due to the fact that you wait forever to get seated, get even a drink order placed, or find a clean table. However nobody will tell you that. Manager should have directed staff to initially tell patrons coming in that they're having these issues. It's honest and would be respected. However...all you get are excuses. The staff seemed defeated due to all of the issues. While we waited an hour for our food...yes hour...we saw other tables complaining. People waiting to be seated left eventually. Food was mediocre...at best. My fathers grilled chicken in his salad was so undercooked that it might as well still have the feathers on it. Also cold in the inside. Tortilla soup was horrible. I wouldn't even call it tortilla soup. Chicken fired steak was good. Lol That and the fired green tomatoes. I'll give credit where credit is due. We ALWAYS stop here when traveling to and from Dallas and Houston. Actually our favorite place. I'm hoping today was an off day but based on some of the recent reviews, doesn't look like it. My advice...be honest with patrons when they walk in the door if things aren't going well. They'll respect you more and come back. Or...have service and food like today and run everyone off. Just had a less than desirable experience at lunch today. We waited for a while be acknowledge by the hostess. We were seated at a dirty table and had to wait for it to be cleaned. Waitress was rude and never made eye contact. The rolls were not brought out. The waitress brought a too small take-out box for the food. Had to request a new one. Took forever to get out change and the larger take-out box. When we asked about the rolls, she blamed her manager and asked if we wanted to take it up with her. We didn't want to make it worst. Good place to have some feel like home cooking meal. They margaritas they have are pretty good.so far everything I've had there has been delicious. I've had the grilled chops, grilled chicken and the chicken fried chicken and they have all been delicious. Totally recommend it to anyone one. Good place to eat in town.
