It saddens me to report Fish City Waxahachie has ROACH infestation. As I was finishing my meal I just happened to notice something moving on the wood panel wall of my booth seat. A closer looked revealed a brown colored live roach. At that point my meal was no longer appealing and I abandoned my booth, leaving the bug free access. I belief one live Roach means there are many. I informed the Manager (Mike) of my observation and suggested he contact an exterminator ASAP. He seemed to be aware of the issue because he said exterminators treated the location last week, but he would have the location retreated. Because of this I can no longer support Fish City Waxahachie. So sorry, but potential customers need to be informed about situations like this. read more

I don't know why I keep trying this place. Food runner delivered my lobster bisque. No crackers. No bread. Asked her for some. She stated you will have to get your waitress to get it. Wow!!!! The bisque had good flavor but was very thick. Seafood platter. Fried so long there was no fish left. The shrimp was solid rubber. Oysters were ok. Waitress was nice. Manager finally came by and took care of the ticket. (I didn't even eat half of the platter). Price of this place compared to quality is so out of whack. read more

Yelp brought me to Fish City Grill. I happily arrived to a confusingly full parking lot at 5:30pm. To then see everyone in green shirts. Fortunately, I was able to grab a single seat at the bar. The bartender was attentive and conversational. Got my signature dinner drink order in- a dirty Sapphire martini. And it was weird??! Confusing flavors. Vermouth heavy and slightly sweet. I started with 3 of the special Mystic Mermaid Oysters. These were fine. Clean. But too much oyster liquid remnant in sand. Did not have much flavor. Then decided on entree. The bartender was very helpful in recommendations towards the menu. I ordered that night's special. A blackened Redfish with crab sauce and shrimp, atop a parmesan rice and green beans. The blackening on this fish was hard seasoned- great. Cooked to flaky. Shrimp tasted Well. Same for the rice (not cheesy) and green beans. For the atmosphere and vibe in expectation walking into Fish City Grill, I give it 4 stars. For seafood entree and app overall I give it 3 stars. Drinks 2 stars. We come here quite often but today was not their day with us. I will tell you we had food issues. I could be negative but I'm going to pull the positive. Our server was nice. She let the manager know and he came over to speak with us. This lunch was far under our regular standards for here. Here's where it takes a turn. The manager came over to speak with us and was sincere in his resolution. The reason I'm not going into the food issue is because the manager saved it. We've been going to wherever this restaurant is in DFW several times a year for a long time. Mostly the Dallas area and Mansfield, so we were happy to see Fish City Grill join our community! They've been here over a year now and I must write my review! The first thing I want to mention is how exemplary the service has been every time we've been here. Stellar. Our every need met. Always gracious and flexible. The other standout was a welcome tasting appetizer platter that I hope they're still doing for first timers. Two Fried Oyster Nachos and sample cups of Gumbo, Clam Chowder, Crab Bisque and Roasted Jalapeño Soup. It is a remarkable intro to their flavors. They also have Happy Hour. The menu has probably changed; but the Shrimp and Crab Queso for $8, a full portion - well, don't deny yourself if you're a queso fan. I had some amazing Grilled Oysters during a Happy Hour. We don't drink, but hey, the food! Right? If you miss Happy Hour, any of the soups are wonderful and those Oyster Nachos. Our wait staff was lovely that first time and let us chill out for a little while before the entrees arrived after we consumed the introductory platter and then the queso. This place really hums. Get a booth if possible or sit outside on the gorgeous patio facing the pond and fountain. It's a little more quiet. Fish City Grill always has terrific chalkboard specials. Read them. Even ask your waiter if there's anything else. Then peruse the menu. It's hard to beat the quality or freshness of the seafood here. That's where being a multi-restaurant entity has its advantages. From Oysters to Crab Legs to Catfish to fish from Gulf. And they know how to cook what you want. A personal favorite of mine I've had here is the SHRIMP & CRAB STUFFED FLOUNDER with Caper dill beurre blanc, seasonal veggies, and lemon basil rice. ($21.99) It is so tender. My husband has been leaning towards the pasta lately, SHRIMP AND CHICKEN PENNE ALFREDO with Roasted basil tomatoes, cremini mushrooms, green onions, and Parmesan cheese ($17.99) which is amazing! We both like the SEAFOOD PLATTER Catfish, Shrimp & Oysters. ($23.99) A filet of catfish, with Shrimp and Oysters and cooked however you want. Perfect every time. I usually ask for fried seafood, and substitute for my fries. They let you pick a different vegetable, no charge. It's no mystery why we eat here. The food is outrageously good. True, we don't do it often, but it's always a good experience and they give back to Veteran's on Veteran's Day with $20 off the Veteran's meal. Thank you! We'll be back. read more

I've become the TOGO queen due to my high levels of social anxiety!! This particular restaurant use to be a favorite of mines years ago when I use to attend school In the highlands in Arlington, and they were located there . If I wasn't there for my lunch break , then I would definitely stop by there after class before heading to one of the bars located in that shopping center. It had been some years since I last had the opportunity to eat at this restaurant, so when I learned that there was one in the city that i recently moved too. I couldn't wait to visit them again. So this time around I got the sampler, it came with fried catfish , fried oysters , fried shrimp , sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes!!! 9/10!!! The Food was fresh and yummy !! I didn't give a 10/10 due to the portion sizes , I personally feel that for the amount that I paid I should have received bigger portions.. it felt like I was having a kids lunchable lol!! The restaurant was busy and they had live TVs on , so many were enjoying the game . You can tell it's a popular spot that has a lot of regulars. The staff was friendly and attentive. Do I recommend? We were looking so forward to trying Fish City Grill and we really enjoyed the ambiance. The outdoor patio is really nice and open and comfortable. It was clean, the service was great. The weather was perfect early in the day for enjoying the patio. The music was on point too! On the other hand, the food left a lot to be desired. Specifically, my husband had the fried Cod, which was an added upgrade and it was not good. I ordered the seafood platter with fried oysters(yummy), grilled shrimp and blackened catfish. side of seasoned potatoes and it comes with french fries. The potatoes had zero flavor. They looked like they would because there was plenty of seasoning it seemed but i honestly cook better potatoes at home. At the end of the meal we spent almost $80 and were super disappointed. Our server was great, i cant remember his name but he did great. They do have specials that maybe would have been the way to go, or i know people that ask their server what they recommend or think is good. My wife and I stopped by for a late lunch. Ordered an appetizer, meal, and a couple of drinks. Once the appetizer was served, we saw a roach crawl across the top of booth. The waitress saw and tried to kill it but it jumped to the floor and couldn't be found. My wife freaked out and was ready to leave. I talked her into staying and had the waitress move us to the outside patio. An older guy came out and apologized to us for the episode. He said they had just sprayed and so they probably scattered. The waitress came out after our meal and left us a check over $$$. As I was looking at the check she asked me was something wrong. I told her I wasn't expecting anything but thought the manager would at least give us a discount for the experience we had. She told me to wait and go see what she could do. Another younger guy comes out and explains this happens at all restaurants when they spray for bugs. Of course I told him I'm not used to this happening when I eat out. He was able to write off a $13 appetizer. I just think they could have handled it better without me even mentioning something. read more

We eat at the location at least 3 times per month. Today the bartender which we've never seen before was horrible.....we always sit at the bar. She was more interested in talking with the staff instead fo taking care of the bar top....from teh time we first sat down I had to waive our menu's are her the the GM to get our first round of drinks. Our food came out but we didn't have any silverware. our drinks ran out. I had to get up to get the GM. The service at this location reminded me of Macarroni Grill...RIP. The food is alway great at Fish City Grill but the service is horrible. I dould we'll ever go back to the Waxahachie location...RIP......damn I wish I could give no stars. they haven't earned any. read more

My wife and I ate here this Saturday 7/5. We went in about 5:00om and were immediately seated. Our waitress was Alison and she was wonderful! I had the fish and chips and my wife had the fried gulf shrimp. I also had the jalepeno soup and it was incredible! My fried cod was delicious. My wife's fried shrimp was also quite good. The wait staff worked great as a team but our star was Alison! She was very friendly and checked on us frequently. We highly recommend this place and be sure to ask for Alison. If you are going to offer a "gluten sensitive menu", which most celiac//gluten free people appreciate, PLEASE TRAIN YOUR KITCHEN AND WAIT STAFF. When my 'gluten sensitive' salmon got to the table, I made sure the plate was safe by asking a ton of questions. I was reassured it was safe. Fast forward 48 hours I am still VERY SICK. According to the waiter, he communicated with the kitchen. He later told us when we asked what was in the spinach resembling a noodle - that the chef was actually out and he couldn't communicate with the kitchen as he spoke no Spanish. So then - how did he communicate my allergy? He didn't. Thanks for making me so sick I can barely leave the house. read more

We've been a few times, this last visit was a little embarrassing and I hope "Miss Vickie" will sort things out. We arrived at about 6:45 and put in our name for a patio table. We waited about 15 minutes to realize there were only 2-3 other tables occupied on a patio with about 10-15 tables. We ordered at about 7:05 - nothing hard, just an appetizer and a meal to share. The crab cake appetizer was ok ... then, we sat. We sat for about 45 minutes before setting a 10 minute "you're out" timer. Well, the timer went off and we were told our order wasn't even started! Now, an hour into it, we chose to leave ... we left paying a $70 tab for four drinks and an appetizer ... not sure if we will ever return. Came here for lunch on cinco de Mayo because i saw that they had a lot of margarita specials and while they didn't have a lot, had about 4, they were all delicious. Highly recommend the watermelon margarita. It's light and refreshing. I had the tacos and the bisque both of which were amazing. We sat at the bar and our bartender was awesome. She immediately greeted us and answered any questions we had. They have plenty of options available at the bar too. During lunch it wasn't very loud there and i could easily hold a conversation. Waxahachie has long needed a place to get great seafood, aside from the arguably overrated Atkins. Well (fingers crossed) . . . I just had one of the best meals (cuisine notwithstanding) that I've had in a while. 7pm on a Tuesday, started off w/a cup of gumbo -- chock full of chicken, sausage and well-seasoned. Followed up w/a plate full of shrimp & grits. Again, no skimping on the ingredients: big, well-cooked shrimp, bacon, scallions, onions, bell peppers, cheese, and plenty of butter. I'm a big boy, and it's all I could do to not take home a doggy bag. My server, Leilani, was extremely attentive and friendly. The seating was well-spaced, clean and well lit. We came in on a Friday evening to enjoy the patio space. The service was amazing! My hubby had the old fashioned and said it was pretty strong and he enjoyed it. I had the blackened red fish topped with crab and shrimp and for my sides I had the grits and garlic spinach. The redfish was perfectly cooked and seasoned well. The crab topping was amazing and the creamy sauce was really good. I didn't like my shrimp but that's only because it was gulf shrimp which I don't like the taste of.
