Chicken Fried Chicken Cinnamon Apples Baked Potato

We visited the Cotton Patch Cafe in mid July and it didn't disappoint. The food was PHENOMENAL! We didn't wait long at all. The service was amazing and our server, Maria Vega, was fantastic. Food was hot and fresh. The ambience was relaxing. And we left very satisfied with more than enough leftovers. It's a shame we were just visiting the area! Great experience all around!

Best house rolls!!!

We went here randomly and were pleasantly surprised!!! I don't know why the reviews on here aren't higher. Maria served us. She was amazing, providing the best service! I had the salmon with rice, and baked potato and my fiance got the chicken fried chicken. Both entrees were delicious! Portions were great and very fairly priced. Wish we had photos (we honestly just dug right in!). The house rolls were so good we couldn't stop eating them, paired with the cinnamon butter... yum!!! We will be back here again when we're in the area and to hopefully see Maria again.

This was our first time at this cotton patch. The staff were very welcoming. The older lady who was the host was great (her and my mother in law almost became bffs). We came on a Friday around lunch time (1:30 pm). Wasn't too busy. I had two kids meals. Both my kids had the chicken tenders and it came with two sides (that's a plus). I did appreciate them bringing those out first. I ordered the avocado chicken sandwich. It wasn't too bad. I did ask for the bun to have mayo and it didn't. The waitress did bring that on the side. Fries were on the dry side for me though. My mother in law ordered the triple cheeseburger with mustard and again they didn't put it on. In my opinion I feel someone in the kitchen just wasn't paying attention to the modifications. She said it was ok. My husband had the potato with brisket. He said he'll give it like a 3/5. Since it wasn't smoked and tasted like it's premade. Filling but lacked a little flavor. Overall, the place was clean and the staff were very welcoming. Food lacked a little flavor.

Chicken Fried Chicken

This was already a make-up from a missing meal on a previous order. When I think country cooking, I think hearty portions like the pictures on their website show. Ordered meatloaf and chicken fried chicken the dinner portion, both seemed like very small portions. The meatloaf looks like they left the bottom half in the pan and the chicken fried chicken was tiny little pieces. And they forgot my Mac and cheese. Second chance disappointment!

Disappointed order a steak and look how little and a little crispy. Not sure how someone could serve this. So sad.

Greasy undercooked French fries and the tiniest portions of freezer burned codfish

Probably one of the most horrible places I've ever eaten. We got takeout, which is a mistake. May be taken out to the trash. Should be a better description. Tiny portions of food almost tasteless, very irritated from my visit and the fact that this place is crazy expensive for what it is. I believe we were one of two people there these folks were sitting at a table. I believe they may have been employees and we just came in to pick up an order we had called in. They weren't gonna be there to complain, so why not just serve them terrible food and small portions and then overcharged them! Mission accomplished

Oh boy where do I start. Order cornbread skillet never got it no explanation Bread roll had a baked fly in it no apology or fresh ones. Country fried steak steak wasn't fresh. Order chicken sandwich got a chicken fried steak instead. Meatloaf never had it with spicy sauce before definitely not coming back. Management no where to be found restaurant is ran by high schoolers.literally no one ate the food

All I can say is WOW! This may be the best restaurant in Ennis. My husband ordered the steak…read moresandwich, and the moment he took the first bite, his eyes lit up. I had the carbonara, and honestly, it was almost too pretty to eat. The service was a little slow, but it actually gave us time to soak in the atmosphere and admire how beautiful the restaurant is inside. The vibe? Absolutely check. The cocktails were not our favorite, but that definitely won't stop us from coming back to try other drinks on the menu. What makes this place even more special is that it's a true mom-and-pop restaurant sourcing food locally. You really can't beat that. Supporting local while getting an amazing meal is always a win.

I ordered the Steak Sandwich, mid rare, because that's how you ask meat to tell the truth. And it…read moredid. Pink and honest in the middle, warm and willing, bread holding it all together like a good road holding a long drive. Nothing flashy, nothing trying too hard just flavor that knew where it came from and didn't apologize. The arugula salad came sharp and clean, green with intent, that bitter edge that wakes you up a little and reminds you you're still alive. It wasn't there to impress you. It was there to balance things out, like a deep breath between sentences. I drank Earl Grey tea, steam rising slow, bergamot drifting up like memory, like train smoke somewhere far off. It felt right. The kind of tea you drink when you're not rushing anywhere, when the world can spin without you for a moment and that's okay. Fern in the Wild isn't trying to reinvent eating. It's doing something better. It's paying attention. To ingredients. To pace. To the quiet pleasure of a meal done right. I left feeling fed in more ways than one--like I'd stopped long enough to hear myself think. That's rare. That's worth something. I'll be back.

Short Version: Food: Excellent 10/10…read moreAmbience: Adequate 5/10 Service: Friendly and Attentive 10/10 Lengthy Appreciation: The food was phenomenal with healthy portions. I ordered the wings and was pleasantly surprised to find that it included two sides of my choice which were the Yams and Mac and Cheese. Needless to say it was all superb and authentic. My only complaint was the flickering light inside which led me to enjoy my wonderful meal outdoors in the pleasant weather. The music indoors and out is a little loud but the staff here is very kind and will absolutely offer to turn it down if it bothers you.

I placed an online order through their website for the following: Two (2) 3-piece fried chicken wing dinners with two sides each, priced at $9.99 each as advertised online One (1) catfish dinner Shortly after submitting my order, I received a phone call from a representative stating that I had been undercharged. I was told the online price was an error and that the wings were actually supposed to be $17.99 each, not the price listed on their own website. They wanted to recharge me an additional amount for a price that was not advertised online. I was honestly shocked. I paid exactly what their website reflected at the time of purchase. After speaking with a manager, I was told I had only two options: pay the upcharge or receive a full refund. I chose the refund. What was most disappointing is that the restaurant did not honor their advertised price, even though the mistake was theirs--not mine. I did not argue or request they honor the price because I don't feel comfortable having food prepared when there is already a disagreement or questionable business practice involved. As a result, I've placed Ida Mae's on my "do not dine" list. I believe in fair and honest business practices, and this experience fell short of that standard.

The salad stuff was fresh and the dressings were all good. On the hot side of the buffet they had chicken friend steak, ham, turkey and dressings, bbq brisket and friend chicken. First, the service was excellent, I believe our server was named Presley. Very kind, always checking on us and keeping our water and tea full. On the buffet, my dad enjoyed the salad he had, but was surprised at the little variety offered that day. He said last time he was there with my brother there was more to choose from. He then got the fried chicken, which was greasy and barely any chicken on the thigh. I tried to find a drumstick but it was just breasts, thighs and a few wings. He did like the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. As for the fried okra, you have to eat it fresh. It is sitting under a heat lamp just makes it soggy and slimy. I ordered 4 vegetables a la carte which came out to be as much as the all you can eat buffet. First, their onion rings are OUTSTANDING! So is their homemade ranch. What was disappointing was the green beans, they definitely came out of a can and were heated. At $3.99 I expected fresh. There may have been a small piece of onion in it. Not sure if that was how it was cooked or if it fell in from another dish. The black-eyed peas were tasty. I also had a cup of the chicken corn chowder which was good. However, there was pieces of cubed chicken in it which also made me think that it was a prepackaged soup and not homemade. My dad got the coconut cream pie, which tasted good, but could have used more coconut then just on the top. He wanted bread pudding or peach cobbler, however at the time of day we were there, they had been picked over way too much, not leaving much for anyone else to enjoy. I did like the selections in the gift shop and purchased a tea towel before we left. I always like to try a place 3 times so I may stop in and try something else. Again, great customer service.
