Waited 10 maybe 15+ Mins for a table to be cleaned with my children & we were happy to wait because we love Waffle House . unfortunately a family walked in immediately and sat at the table we waited for . Upon arrival the staff told us give us a few hun we're going get the table cleaned up (it was the only table dirty and available ) . We were told by staff its first come first serve when we had already been waiting for a table and a server had already told us give her a minute to clean it up ...... when they sat down I immediately brought it to they're attention hey we've been waiting for that table and they immediately told me it is first come first serve which made absolutely no sense when we had been waiting for the table to be cleaned . The staff was aware and choose to do nothing about it so me and my family Left . Why tell me the table was going to be cleaned and give them a second ? Just to have the table given someone else who JUST WALKED in ???? Absolutely ridiculous!!!!!!!! So if you plan on coming here make sure you run to your seat or let it be known it's your table you're waiting for cause the staff won't care ...... someone will walk right in and take your table ...... We had a long day and wanted to end the night with a quick yet yummy meal. We ended up staying out later than wanted, with low traffic coming in on a holiday Sunday yet very unsatisfied. We waited an hour for people to leave with their food even AFTER we ordered our food. Constant checks with no progress, seemed as if they forgot us. We Were given our orders separately with 15/20 mins in between. Only for us to get home and o ordered an all star breakfast and didn't receive my meat of choice. We also didn't get our complete order yet a chicken sandwich we didn't ask for assuming to make the wait worth it. We decided to bring back the meal in which it came back to the establishment and receive a refund. It took them a minute, busier than last night and was able to get it rectified after a long 40 minutes but she was at least kind and went beyond to correct the mistakes. Terrible dining experience tonight. While we were trying to chat (in the small booth mind you) we could not even hear each other over the loud, abrupt clanging of silverware and plates. Kierra was inattentive to our empty glasses for more than half of the meal because she was too busy slamming all of the dishes around so that she could leave her shift. My friend and I were the only people in the restaurant for the majority of this rude experience. The attitude she was giving was unnecessary to say the least. If you cannot control your attitude, then you should not work in a service environment such as Waffle House where you are literally right beside the customer at any given time. The restaurant was exponentially more pleasant the second she left the building. All that to say -- DB took over as our waitress as Kierra was leaving her shift and was more helpful and friendly in the 5 minutes we had her than the entire other half hour we were there. This was my first time at a Waffle House and I have to say It is definitely an experience. If you are looking for luxury it is definitely not for you, very very far from it. But, if you want to stuff yourself with all the breakfast staples for a low cost and not too bad flavor, then definitely check it out. I sat in one of the counter seats, the place has that classic old breakfast restaurant vibe. Food was definitely greasy but edible. And most importantly waffles were kind of in the middle between a very good waffle and an eggo. Service was average, some servers were trying others really didn't care at all. The wife and I came in at 0430am. One other customer was sitting at the bar eating his breakfast when we got there. We had never been to the Midlothian location, and we happened to get up early and decided to try them out. Bad decision. let me start by saying that the radio was blaring electronic type of music (i think). I asked the waitress if she would ask the night manager to turn down the music. She said that they (night staff) have no way of adjusting the volume, that it is in the regular manager's office and it is locked when manager is off. Said manager won't be in until 06a-07a. About this time the man eating at the bar finished and left. We each ordered a waffle and two drinks. The waffle was barely cooked. I don't know if they have a timer on the waffle machine, or if the waffle looked ok to the young waitress. We didn't complain about the waffle, but it could have been cooked twice. minor complaint there. However, the waitress brought a syurp bottle to the table that was litterally covered and dripping in syrup on the outside. You know how a water glass will leave condensation under the glass? That is what the syrup bottle looked like, but it was syrup and not condensation. She had to have known this (because she carried it to the table with her hand) but left it anyway. My wife ended up trying to clean it with a napkin. Not very easy. There were three menus at the table, and each one was covered and sticky with syrup. I counted at least 8 staff behind the counter. As we were leaving, we noticed that the used plate that the man was eating from at the bar was still sitting where he left it. They had 8 staff cutting up behind the bar and not doing anything job related. In fact as we walked out into the parking lot, one of the waitresses was sitting with a visitor on a back sidewalk smoking. She had to have been out there over 20 minutes. I must say it's been years since my last visit at any Waffle House. There really isn't too much you can say about them. The service was the usual, "I really don't like my job" attitude. Sitting at the bar is a bad and good idea to the fact that you get to see the nasty areas of the waffle grills and how they handle and prepare your food. Let's face it, many locations struggle with the cleanliness part and are severely outdated. I read over a few reviews and couldn't find a bad enough review to keep me away. This location was pretty busy for a random Friday morning but the staff was apologetic in those that had to wait for a table. Upon sitting down, I checked out the prep area and grill and was pleasantly satisfied at how neat and clean everything was! I ordered the Texas bacon melt with a waffle. Superb. Waffle House is my thing and I used to love to come to the Waffle House in Waxahachie, TX. The last three times I've been have been disappointing. I waited 12 minutes before someone came to ask for my order, me another customer are the only ones present, so it wasn't busy. The place was very unclean from sticky syrup table top to food all over the floor. Now I can understand if it was busy, but two customers, 5 employees standing around laughing and gossiping about an employee named Corina, come on! There were dishes on the table so I waited until the young woman removed the dirty dishes; She did not clean the table. I asked for a cup of hot tea with lemon and honey; she bought me a cup of hot water and a few pieces of lemon. I asked for the tea bag, she bought me a tea bag, no honey. I had to ask for the honey. Then she bought my food, no syrup for the waffle. I had to ask for that. I watched her interact with other diners and she had no problem serving them exactly what they order. I understand that we are getting over a crisis in this country and is rehiring workers as restaurants reopen. Take your time and see if your workers are compatible with the public in general. I don't live in Waxahachie but I've tried this place several times. On the weekend the people are friendly but there is no organization in terms of seating. No one takes names and the tables sit waiting to be cleaned. The place has a strong smoke smell but the tables are clean. Aside from all that the food is good and better than the adjacent IHOP. The Waxahachie Wafflehouse's current staff during the early morning hours after I get off from work has been great the last few times i've been there. Watching them prepare my eggs, hashbrowns, sausages with care when I get the all-star breakfast shows me the cook and the waitress during third shift are great with handling customers. I hope that my local Wafflehouse can continue this trend as it's making me dine there more frequently just because they cook and serve well in my humble opinion. People who have bad experiences need to be vocal to the heads of the restaurant and offer advice to make their experiences better other than complaining on Yelp. No business wants to lose customers especially when customers aren't helping them but not being entirely rude. read more
