So the reason we kept going back to Cotton Patch is because I can't find a Cobb Salad nearby that I like better. If you know of one, please clue me in!! We order the same thing and rarely is it ever made correctly; maybe 20% of the time they get it right. Tonight's order was exceptionally wrong. We ordered the Cobb Salad with salmon instead of chicken and this time they got that correct. But they put blue cheese and tomatoes on it when I requested them to be left off. And the note requesting no tomato or blue cheese was on the lid of the salad! When my husband said it looks like they scraped off the blue cheese because some was mingled within the lettuce and that they forgot to leave off the tomatoes, the employee explained "they must have missed it" or something to that effect. She just expected him to take it. The only way he could get her to have it remade was to tell her that it might make me sick. Really? Come on Cotton Patch, remake it if you don't get it right. Then my husband had to ask for extra ranch when I ordered extra ranch. The girl labels the ranch into the cups and takes them to the area where the lids are and is holding the cups with her fingers inside the tops of them. Which is probably why she didn't fill them enough because she needed room to carry them back. When another employee was telling her what to get and how many to get, she was obviously confused. Are there just no employees that have critical thinking skills? Salads got home, and I began eating. Sure enough they remade the lettuce portion to remove all of the tomatoes, but they used the same bacon because the blue cheese was mingled in along with a few pieces of corn. I have no idea where those came from! If you don't like blue cheese and you eat it thinking it's a piece of egg, you are in for a BIG surprise and a bad mouthful of food. This review is for the Cotton Patch in Wylie on 544. This is normally one of my favorite restaurants; however, they are out to destroy their own business by continuing to get rid of dishes people love i.e., jalapeno skillet cornbread, and a couple of the food skillets. In addition, l had the absolute worst service ever last night during their "all you can eat cat fish" Friday event. I had a waiter who was more interested in telling everyone he had been brought in to learn the "bar" and talking to everyone about the different drinks that he didn't pay attention to his "dining" guests who wasn't interested in his bar title. He was so inattentive that even when I told him I was ready for another order of the fish; I literally waited over 15 minutes before he came back to my table to inquire if I wanted more fish, which I this point I was so fed up I told him I had been 15 minutes prior but now all I wanted was my check. He knew I was not a happy customer and I believe he was afraid I might talk to management about his lack of service so he came back to my table (faster than he had all night) and said my bill had been taken care of. He should either be in the bar exclusively and not be allowed to wait on customers or vice versa but not both in the same evening because he cannot handle doing both. And the catfish was not all that good -- I've had much better. I will not be going back for a while and when I do, if they no longer have the fried bacon, I will get up and leave. read more

Never have had any issues here in all the years we've gone, until tonight. Ordered for curbside take out as we live further away. The girl bringing out the order DROPPED the bag of food and turned and went back in for 2 secs. I was hoping she was going to check to make sure none of the containers were broken. MAN was i wrong. Instead brought it to the car like she didnt just drop my order. I checked the bag and it was spilled ALL in the bag. Went inside and she must be dumb acting like she had no clue why i was bringing the order back in. Seriously?... worst service ever. they repackaged it. But forgot half the sides. Probably wont be back to this location. Definitely not worth the drive there anymore. Recommend driving to a diff location to anybody wanting to go here . read more

Biggest compliment to the manager Sophie. She had great customer service skills and really put the guests needs first. That store is better with her! She helped out with a Togo order that just wasn't being fulfilled and she did not let the night get ruined. I know know you call in for carry-out in the future. Lately, I find myself attracted to comfort food. More and more I find myself craving beef enchiladas or chicken fried steak. Nothing fancy - just basic food that fills me up. This has led me to visit several Cotton Patch Cafe locations around North Texas. My experience so far tells me that I can expect a high degree of consistency with regard to pretty much everything. They are all decorated the same. The servers always seem helpful, attentive, and happy. The breading falls off the chicken fried steak the same every time. The warm dinner rolls always hit the spot. The sweet tea is always exactly the way I like it. No complaints here - you can expect to see me again soon. read more

I am all for supporting local businesses during these lockdowns, but tonight was a joke. I only ordered two entrees, one of which being chicken fingers, so it's nearly impossible to screw that up. However, the other one was fish and shrimp. My sauce for the fish and shrimp was completely left out of the bag (major flavor of the dish), one of my two sides was left out of the bag, and my other side (a Cesar salad) w as about half full of brown lettuce. All of this can be easily corrected while dining in, but to-go orders need a little more attention. I'll dine there again, but not until I can dine in. read more

When dining in we have never had any issues. When getting to go on the other hand, it's been hit or miss and more miss than anything. Just today we ordered Chicken and dumplings which came in just slightly more than half full. For $6? The bacon for the baked potato had been sitting for a while because the grease was turning white around some of the bigger pieces. Chives weren't even cut through completely. Chicken fried stale was served with no gravy, mashed potatoes were dry as if it where sitting under heat and to top it all off there was two other types of meat other than beef mixed in with my green beans. The shiner fish and chips had zero taste. I had to return it back, not even tartar sauce gave it any taste. The most bland thing I've ever eaten there. Pot roast came out cold with two pieces and only two pieces of meat.... both cold and hard as a pebble. full bowl of carrots and potatoes all cold. Wife's patty melt burned and cold .. onion rings cold. Walked in at 4 pm CT walked out at 5 pm CT. Food took 40 mins to come to table and was cold. I would give this place a half star but Yelp does not allow it. The wait did not take long but didn't help that it was hot outside and not much seating room inside. But while we were waiting, I did notice that there were several open tables with enough room for everyone that was waiting. Once we were seated, our server was there so quickly that we didn't even have a chance to look at the drink options. We quickly ordered drinks and those were brought out promptly and then we ordered our food. While waiting for food, we saw several other tables getting "complementary" rolls and had to ask for ours. The wait from there was torturous with our server being very inattentive. From the time we sat down to the time we got our food was about 45+ minutes and when we got our food, almost every plate had something incorrect with it. This location needs the staff to communicate better. I did a curbside service that was ordered at 4:09pm, was supposed to be ready at 4:26pm. I arrived at 4;25, called the pickup number, and told them I was there. they said it would be right out. At 4:45, I called back, and was told, "Oh sorry, be right out". No bigger apology. got home and had to reheat everything. You ever reheat grilled shrimp? When you spend 50 plus dollars on a steak and salmon birthday dinner, you expect better service. Your Wylie Texas location employees should communicate better so I don't have to call back up to remind you that I am still waiting for 20 minute late food which was really ready 20 minutes prior. My husband and I went last night, we ordered our food at 7:30 and finally at 8:10 our waiter brought out my husband's food only. We were then informed they ran out of Chicken n Dumplings. I was asked if I wanted to order something else, my reply was no. Why would you wait almost 45 minutes to inform customer they ran out of what you ordered. So I ate off my husbands plate which was cold, we assume because it was waiting on my food. We did talk to the Manager, all we were told is Chicken n Dumplings is popular. I understand it's popular but why wait to inform the customer 40 minutes later, and also you were out of Chicken n Dumplings 2 1/2hrs before you close? When this place opened up it wasn't very good. So we decided to boycott this place for the better part of a year. We returned with our family and the service seemed better, however the food was disappointing. Okra came in a bowl that was only 1/2 way filled up so we order a second, which came the same way (about 10 fried okra pieces). The chicken fried steak tasted like it was frozen and rinsed under water then fried with no seasoning. And we all got Monta Zuma's Revenge the next day. Another person in our party ordered the 9oz sirloin, and it was like a piece of rubber with no seasoning. Guess this place takes food from the freezer slaps it in a oven or microwave as serves it. I understand the cost of food has gone up but today I spent $40 on 3 orders of steak fingers and only received 3 steak fingers in each box - so $40 for 9 steak fingers. I ordered from the Garland store a couple of months ago and received a full BOX for each order. (at least 6 steak fingers for each order and the rest of the box was full of fries. I have always had a great experience when dining in at other Cotton Patch Cafes and also picking up from the Garland Tx Location. I ordered online and Garland was not one of my choices to pick from today. If Wiley is my closest shop and this is the type of value for my money - I will NOT be going back to this location. They have curb side pick up now but it doesn't seem to be very efficient. Waited over 20 minutes for my order. Called and went inside to get my order they have no clue when or where my order is. Is the kitchen as dirty as the dining room? We went in around 4:30 on Saturday afternoon and were seated at a table that had been cleared of dishes but not wiped off. There was a spilled container of what looked like ranch dressing and other food on the floor where we were to put our feet. The hostess seemed unhappy about our request that someone wipe off the table and clean up the spill underneath. We looked around and every empty table was piled with dishes, glasses, and leftover food. What can the condition of the kitchen and food prep area be like if the dining area is this nasty? We have eaten there before and though no visit rated a 5 star the quality has gone down each time. If I could give no stars, I would. Management needs to do some managing. It's a new city for this family of five so we were looking for dinner. Mr Google spit out names and by spinning the wheel we landed at The Cotton Patch. The building is located next to a major road and surrounded by different establishments. As you enter, the place has a chain/home feel to it. Our clan of 5 sat in a booth and ordered our dinner. The establishment was empty yet our server, Veronica, was outstanding. If you go eat there make sure she is your server. I had the grilled pecan catfish, wife the catfish basket, kids chicken and burger. Veronica brought us complimentart warm fresh bread with butter. The bathrooms were well kept and clean. The kids burger is what it is. The kids chickadee meal was flavorful according to the other son. My wife's basket of fish was lightly breaded. The crunch was crisp and without that oil taste you get in other restaurants. The fries were seasoned with a good portion of both items. The grilled pecan was mmmm mmmm good. The fish had a blackened flavor and the filets were slightly breaded. The green beans were slowly cooked with pork and its taste was further enhanced. The service, tasty food and clean environment makes it a must return. It was well worth the low price. read more

The manager here has a bunch of young kids that are more concerned with their phones than keeping customers happy(with the exception of my server-a tall skinny kid who did his best taking care of me.) It was not a busy time at all on my last visit-so really no excuse for another patron walking out after being ignored over 15 minutes!.I love the jalapeno gravy,but will get my fix only at the Rockwall location(which is always stellar!) I've been here many times since it first opened and as time progressed, service regressed. The last two times were online orders through the website and were completely wrong. Today, I had complete meals missing and drinks totaling $40 didn't arrive. For $90, they brought me chicken strip baskets and a pork chop dinner without double checking. When I called in, the manager, Ruby, acted annoyed at me for wanting a refund after being told they could correct my order, but it would take another 20min, which would make my other food cold. Poorly managed, terrible service. Only 3 other parties in restaurant while we were there. Two 2 tops and one single top plus the two of us, so why was the service so slow?? Not only slow but basically ignored by our server who felt it was more important to sit and wrap silverware for non-existent customers rather than take care of the 2 tables she had! Rolls were hard and very small, food was cold when finally delivered to the table and missing items ordered were only brought after asking twice for them, also had to ask for refills on our iced teas. I'm giving this 3 stars but would probably give it 3.5 (4 stars mean "yay I'm a fan.") Recently there's been some chatter about this particular Cotton Patch on a neighborhood social media site. I don't know if I can say the site but it starts with "N" and ends with "-extdoor." Anyway, a few weeks back someone posted that they tried Cotton Patch again and was pleasantly surprised by the service. A few other folks also commented that they recently tried the restaurant and it was good! So tonight my wife and I tried the Wylie Cotton Patch again (this probably would be our 6th visit to this location, swearing never to return because of poor service on our 5th visit). It was a Saturday night, and the place wasn't very busy at all. Great for us (because we were seated immediately) but I'm sure not so great for the business. Within a minute a waiter came over to acknowledge us, and to say he would be back but he had other customers. Ok, so far so good. I don't mind waiting as long as they know we're here. It wasn't 30 seconds later when he returned to take our order. The food came out quickly. Portions were huge for the meats (I got chicken fried steak, but wife CF chicken). But the sides were a bit disappointing. Not in taste, but just how small the portions were. To be fair, the portion was probably the "official service size" but the vessel in which the sides came in made it look like it wasn't much. My wife commented to the waiter if there should be more (I mean, maybe it wasn't the right amount?) Not only did he bring another side of the food in question, but also another of her 2nd side. Even the manager was walking around asking customers about their food and how everything was. The wait staff was attentive, without being too hovering. Food? Delicious and very filling. When we have our 7th and 8th visit and things are still good then I'll update the comment to 4 stars. So if you're in the Wylie area and want a Cotton Patch type dinner, then try it again. Maybe they got new management? Maybe they got new wait staff (all of them looked fairly young)? Not sure, but we really enjoyed ourselves. UPDATE: We've been about 2 more times since this review and the service has been consistently good and the food has been delicious. It deserves 4 stars read more
