Just a warning. Do not use the bathrooms here if you can avoid it. They smell horrible and just don't look very clean. Another negative is the price. Spent almost $20 on just two people, and that is with splitting an order of onion rings. The food is still as good as I remember in my college days, however. And the service is still fast and friendly as I remember. Finally revisited Cougar Country a couple of weeks ago since their reopening. As we parked we noticed it was busy inside. As we walked in, it didn't look much different except for the soda fountain and the counter. As we waited in line to order, we noticed the area was much smaller, due to the fact that the soda fountain jutted out and they moved the condiment stand directly across from it, this is not a good set-up because when someone is getting their soda and/or condiments, others cannot walk by them. We ordered a bacon cheeseburger and a cheeseburger, both in combo meals, it was quite pricey. We waited about 12 minutes for our food, while we were waiting, we noticed people (a party of 4) who were there before us still hadn't received their food and still hadn't received it by the time we left. The seating is antiquated and very uncomfortable, I understand they want to "pack the people in", but at what cost? Also the blaring voice over the loudspeaker is a big put-off. If they can afford to remodel, they should, some nice round tables and a better dedicated place for the soda fountain and condiment stand would be ideal. The food was a perfect temperature. When I ripped open the sleeve on my bacon burger my burger appeared lopsided and most of the toppings were in the bottom of the bag, the cheeseburger was fine, but it is a smaller burger, so I'm guessing it was easier to put in the sleeve. After eating a couple bites of our burgers, we noticed that the bun to burger patty ratio was way off, there was too much bread for the thin, single patty and the burger definitely wasn't worth the price. The fries were good. We probably won't go back, there are burger places in the area that are better and less pricey. read more

I finally got to visit Pullman again after being gone for 7 years and this place hasn't changed at all! The burger was very good, perfectly cooked and with sweet BBQ sauce mmmm... I wish they put less salt on the fries though. But definitely the best burger joint Pullman has to offer. Go Cougs! read more

Don't be deceived by the outside! We ate here after a college tour. At first we turned away because of the look (run down shack) but after driving around town seeing nothing better we thought we would give it a try. It was delicious! The food isn't as good as it used to be. Too much sauce. Too expensive. But there's Just something about going in and getting a meal. Very sad about the negative changes recently. So the place is back under new management and some self order option, but not really impressed. Do Not use the self order, just go up and order in person instead. The food is mediocre but their sauce is on point like usual. We came in on 10/12, Saturday night. Not a lot of people since it's an away WSU game. We used the self order for our food and ordered chicken basket/clam basket. The process resulted in a 35 minute wait and the 4 people behind us all got their food before us. Best burger place in Pullman, no contest. And it's not even like their burgers are that spectacular; they're a bit on the thin side. BUT, coupled with a healthy dose of fry sauce, crinkle-cut fries, both Coke AND Pepsi products available 'on tap', and a milkshake or cyclone (blizzard-esque) for dessert, this is pretty much a must-visit. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are $1.19 Cub Burger days, if you're looking for a deal (though that's up from $.89 when I was in college). They also serve up a mean corn dog, in my humble opinion. Every time I find myself in Pullman now, I want to go to get a Cub Burger. Imagine my disappointment to find they were closed for renovations last time I was there. It's cheap and tasty. There's a pretty fair chance that this place is responsible for a large percentage of the weight that's gained by freshmen at WSU. Burgers here are good, by typical burger stand standards. Burger baskets with fries are a full meal, and run right around $7. They make good shakes, and have a good variety of flavors. When I was in school, they also served Pepsi and the mixture in their fountain was a little on the sweet side, which was a plus in my book. It's a small place, so it gets busy fast, and when it's busy there's no way you're going to park there. And the drive-thru is almost a hazard. There's room for maybe 2-3 cars between the road and the window, and since they don't make anything til it's ordered, being the 2nd or 3rd car in line can be a bit of a wait. This place is way over-rated. In my years at WSU, I went to Cougar Country a handful of times. I always found it to give quite the blow to a college student's wallet. I mean, especially since it's just greasy, fried, cheap food. I always ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, which was good, but not worth the five or six dollars they charge for it. That doesn't even include fries or a drink. By the way, the fries are just average. I would compare Cougar Country to Miner's in Yakima, but that may be giving it too much credit. Oh my goodness!! I love Cougar Country! Their burgers are always so large, maybe as big as my face! Instead of getting a regular meal, I always turn to the kiddie meals because it's the perfect size of fries and burger for me! Bonus, it comes with an ice cream cone (with the option of being dipped for free). The fries are always perfect, to my liking; perfect crunchy on the outside & good amount of softness in the middle. When dipped in, the fry sauce, it's like happiness in my mouth. Cougar Country has a great dine-in experience. Really old school and a great place to just chill out. The employees are great and everything is really clean. One thing that kind of bugs me a bit is that the burger itself is really thin. But the sauce and the flavor that it has makes up for it. I like to swing in on either Mon or Tue for the $1.19 cub burger. Always have to get the fries with tartar sauce. Only thing I hate is the small drive thru. If there are already three cars waiting and you don't feel like blocking traffic and starting a chain of wrecked cars then you have to park and go inside. But maybe that's a good thing. How can you not love cougar country? It is the best gut bomb hamburger you can get in town. The patties are large and thin. They season them heavily and they are a bit saltier than most places. The condiments they put on are excellent and good fry sauce and tarter. Cougar super basket is hard to beat and they have krinkle cut French fries. I love their fries. I was excited to try this place after the rave reviews while driving through town on a job interview. I forgot that the people reviewing this are still in college, and don't know what good food is. I certainly enjoy a nice, greasy burger. But burger joints that do grease right have hand-formed, daily ground beef. The patties on the burger here seemed identical to Burger King's. The special sauce and toppings were nice, but again, nothing better than your typical fast food. The onion rings were above average for fast food, though. Seemed to be freshly made, although most sit-down restaurants will do a better job. Milk shakes were very good. Rich, extremely thick, and very tasty. Probably the best thing I had, but not worth coming back for. Oh, and I don't know if the girl at the register got the check wrong (it was late and I didn't feel like arguing) but my bill was like $13, which is waaaaay to expensive for what I got. read more
