Eating at a Lexington-style BBQ is a nice treat after living in the land of Eastern NC BBQ for many years. My dining companion tried the combination chopped and coarse chopped pork BBQ while I just had chopped BBQ. The chopped queue was moist, flavorful and with just the right amount of smokiness. The coarsely chopped BBQ was also very good but not quite as moist. The red BBQ slaw was mild, but very good and not spicy. We each received a serving of just-out-of-the-fryer hush puppies. I thought they were very tasty and had just the right amount of onion. The fries were served hot, but were just typical frozen potatoes. Pro tip: try just a drop of the house sauce before slathering it all over your meal. It's a bit spicy so make sure it works well for your palette. We split an order of cherry cobbler for dessert and received a very large serving big enough for at least 3 people. It was warm, good, and not super sweet. Our server was friendly and efficient in this unassuming, quintessential NC BBQ restaurant. We both enjoyed our meal and will return. read more

The BBQ has an excellent combination of sweetness, smokiness and spice...it is different than the vinegar forward sauce typically found in the area. I love this place. Unfortunately it's not convenient for me but I do grab some takeout frequently after a Costco trip. I like that their pulled pork is just plain without a lot of sauce then you can add whatever you like to spice it up or not. And their hush puppies are divine! They don't usually make it home across town. It's nothing fancy but it doesn't need to be to have good Q. The few times I have eaten in it's been clean and friendly. When people ask me who has the best biscuit in town, Country BBQ's tenderloin biscuit is always going to be at the very top of my list. Honestly, it's not even the biscuit, it is the slab of fried pork tenderloin with their house "dip". The biscuit is simply a vessel for the delicious sauce and meat. I used to swing by the drive-thru several times a month when I lived in the area. Today, I just happened to be out and about on that side of town and it was before 1030 AM. When the stars align, don't think about it, just go. The sauce was just spicy enough to flush my cheeks a bit but not too spicy to keep me from drizzling it all over my biscuit. Arrived late on a Wed night and was pleasantly surprised by the hospitality and service but then totally blown away by the food quality, quantity and value. Server, cooks and restaurant staff were polite and patient with us out-of-towners and made sure we had everything. Stopped for a late lunch yesterday with my wife. About 2:30-ish. Place is kinda hidden from the road. Gotta look for it. Only a couple folks eating inside. Not surprising for a Friday afternoon. Appears bright, clean and pleasant. Waitress was very nice. Brought drinks right away. Downside- forecast down place they use styrofoam cups and paper/plastic plates and utensils. Not bad- just surprising. We ordered and shared the Friday special- BBQ pork, ribs and two sides with hush puppies. Sides were crinkle cut fries and mac n cheese. Impressed with the serving sizes- ample for two! Bonus- tasted great also! Ribs were very good. Fall off the bone. Nicely seasoned. Could have used a bit more sauce, but good. Sides were hot. I have no idea how I've lived in this city for so long and have not yet tried Country Barbecue. But I must confess I now have an addiction. A pork tenderloin biscuit addiction. This was perhaps THE most delicious biscuit I've ever had. The tenderloin is tender and juicy, the biscuit is fluffy, add egg and cheese then dip in their delicious barbecue sauce for even more of a heavenly flavor explosion. I also loved their hashbrowns. Everything was super fresh, too. The service was so quick that our order was ready before we even got to our seats! It was extremely clean inside, and while dated, you can definitely tell just by looking at this place that they know what they're doing. After having multiple people recommend Country BBQ I finally decided to try it. I must say it was very delicious! I went for breakfast and ordered a tenderloin biscuit with cheese. It was good! The meat was very flavorful, perfectly cooked, and moist. The biscuit was also huge so come hungry. The restaurant it self was decorated in your typical "BBQ" decor which to me means great food. The lady who took my order was very nice and recommended I add cheese to the biscuit. Which I must say was a great choice! Overall I definitely recommend Country BBQ for a delicious biscuit. Loved this "mom and pop" spot! The service was amazing and very quick. I came with a large party (about 15 of us) and we were in and out within 1.5 hours if not quicker. We did takeout with the Country BBQ on Wendover for supper. Thy missed the boat on every part of my order. First, I ordered a BBQ sandwich. The bun was cold and the BBQ was just warm and it was really dry and it wasn't a very liberal amount either compared to their usual. The french fries were just cold: they had obviously been sitting out for a good while as if they are fresh, they are always still hot when we get them home but not tonight. Overall, this store has really been slipping over the last few years, We never know what we are going to get. We never have this problem when we go to Stamies so I think that is what we will be doing from now on. It's Sad too as we have shopped Country BBQ for over 20 plus years. read more

We eat here every Friday morning for breakfast. We have been doing this for years. They have some of the best tenderloin I have ever had. Great gravy as well. Much better food and service than the other breakfast places around them. They're usually busy but normally will get everyone waited on in a timely manner. I went on a Saturday morning and busy they absolutely were, the line was dang near out the door, but their customer service never lacked. From the order at the counter, I never felt rushed and although it was packed, I had no problems finding a seat. I ordered the Pork tenderloin biscuit with egg and cheese with a side of hash rounds and my lord, good enough to eat everyday but my doctor would not like that. They were kind enough to bring my order to my table because I had my toddler with me. Whatever that bbq sauce was on that table, house made I'm sure, it was giving hints of fruit in it, man that stuff was good on that biscuit. Stopped here on the way home at the recommendation of my travel partner who is a Greensboro native. OMG, have not had barbecue this good in years. I ordered the pork platter which came with coleslaw and hush puppies and was beyond wonderful. The only BBQ sauce they served was a hot sauce at the table and it was fantastic. Hush puppies were the best I ever had. I don't even like hush puppies, but I ate all of these, they were fresh and hot and moist. My friend had the chicken platter which came with hush puppies and coleslaw and was excellent. She ate every crumb. Service was excellent. What really made me happy was a homeless guy came in and they set him up and gave him a free meal. I offered twice to pay for it, but the manager wouldn't take my money. What a wonderful thing to do. I just really love this place. I don't think I'd make a trip special from Raleigh just to eat hear, but next time I am in Greensboro for any reason I am definitely stopping here and bringing my whole party too. read more

I used to love country bbq but my last few visits haven't been good expensive. I love their hot dogs, tenderloin, and pork skins(when they use to sell them). I went through the drive-thru to get a hot dog. The young man at the window wasn't friendly at all. Once I received my hot dog, I drove around back and took a bite. I immediately spit it out. The wiener was cold and hard. I could tell it wasn't cooked. I had somewhere to be and this stopped my return to the restaurant. I live really close to Country Bbq Express in High Point and I love them! My food is always hot and fresh and the ladies have great customer service. I think I will stick to the express. The wife and I stopped in for an early dinner tonight about 430PM. They were not very busy. We sat in a booth and waited for service. There was one server near us refilling napkins. There was another standing at the counter eating (unprofessional) and there were a couple other servers standing behind the counter talking to each other. Nobody even acknowledged our presence. We did not get a "Be right with you" or anything. After about five minutes, I had enough. We got up to leave. I thought then maybe somebody would say something, but that was not the case.
