When I want a taste of nostalgia, I definitely come here! I remember the drive up in the parking lot where you push the button and order at the drive-up menu board next to your car!! Service still top-notch. Still taste the same! Now with the added bonus of a Cheerwine Slush! Delicious!!

This is the epitome of western style NC BBQ. One of few places that smokes pork over real hardwood coals. Service is great. Just a good basic BBQ joint. Nothing fancy and they don't serve liqour. But the Collard Greens ans BBQ are the best you'll find any!

It's been a long time since I've been here. Food still taste the same looking for quick barbecue plate or sandwich nothing over the top this is a great place. Everything still looks the same. The only complaint that I have was the server got me everything I needed, but I felt rushed. Now I understand it's a barbecue restaurant and they have quick turnover times on their tables however, this place was not busy at the time I went. There was maybe six other tables and it was through the whole process of a rush to order my food and to pay my tab

I'm home for the holidays, and my family and I stopped in for dinner and the food was delicious. It was so nostalgic! I'm sure with all of the "BBQ restaurants" out here and now that everyone is a "Pit Master" this place will be called out, as not as being good or great BBQ, but after 93 years and still counting some of the new BBQ restaurants don't have the staying power as a Stamey's! I've been eating at Stamey's since I was a child, and I'm very biased when it comes to comparing foods outside of NC to my local favs. I say all of that to say, Stamey's may not be for everyone, but I still love it. Now, on to the food. The hot dog was just as I remembered ("The Bomb") and the "Q" and BBQ Slaw was delicious, and the crinkle fries was hot and fresh out of the grease. It felt so good to be home the service was great, food was just as I remembered, and it was nice and chill inside! It's definitely one of those restaurants that is a staple here in Greensboro, and a must try. No frills, just sit down and enjoy some good ole NC BBQ.

Stamey's is so full of childhood nostalgia for me - my parents used to bring me here as a kid like it was our job. Coming back now 15+ years since my last visit and nothing has changed (which is great). The food is consistently delicious, and the Brunswick stew is especially out of this world. I love this place and this wonderful food.

If you have dietary restrictions and want BBQ, Stamey's is the place for you! No flavor or seasoning to be found. Just bland. I didn't take a picture because why? Years ago I enjoyed Stamey's for what it was and if I'm not mistaken they were a little more tastier back then. I ordered the combo plate with sliced pork and 1/4 chicken with Mac and cheese and collard greens as the side. The greens are can, the Mac and cheese is watery. Sadly, Stamey's is nationally known for its BBQ but this is by far the best NC has to offer.

Well the food wasn't that tasteful. It could have used a lot more seasoning and the bbq sauce was watery not thick so that didn't help at all. The waitress is why I gave it a rating of three. She was very pleasant. I enjoyed the one on battleground way better. I will try this place again. The atmosphere was pleasant. Overall I must say I have to go back and try something different just to see . The people there were also pleasant. It was just the food I was disappointed in . Otherwise I would have left with a smile

We were in Greensboro for a day trip (errands) and decided to try Stamey's. We had been hearing it mentioned for many many years, as my wife's grandmother used to stop in here when she came to "the big city" for occasional shopping. The physical setting is nice for a BBQ joint. Spacious dining rooms, cool in the summer heat. Service was attentive and pleasant. The food was about what I would expect from a typical barbecue restaurant, with a few quibbles. Being the fat boy that I am, I ordered a chopped pork platter (comes with one side, I chose collards) and also a chopped smoke chicken sandwich. I knew I did not need both, but when am I going to be back again? My wife chose a chopped pork sandwich with fries and an order of brunswick stew and hush puppies. The pork was a little dry in both cases, and was closer to minced than chopped. The two sauces provided (mild and spicy) did not carry much flavor but did help with the needed moisture, along with the slaw on the sandwich. (That slaw was perfect slaw for a barbecue sandwich.) The flavor of the meat was as good as I have found in a restaurant in recent memory, but no better. Not much smoke that I could detect, but decent pork flavor. The chicken sandwich was a pleasure, with a lot of smoke flavor and good texture. The buns for the sandwiches held up well to the meat and added sauce-- so many places use cheaper buns that disintegrate before you finish, so this is a detail to be noted about Stamey's. Quantities of meat on both sandwiches were generous. The stew was very tasty. This is one of my wife's litmus tests on a new BBQ place, and it passed. Lots of veggies, deep flavor in the broth. The abundant hush puppies seemed house made and had a good corn meal crust, could have benefited from a little butter. The fries were an afterthought I think, not anything to think about after eating one or two. The collards were acceptable (not outstanding) to me but my wife found them bitter and lacking any real flavor from simmering with pork or side meat. All in all, it was an okay lunch. I would stop in again if in the area.

Unfortunately when I arrived at 5:30 both were already sold out. I went with sliced brisket, collard greens and Gouda Mac & Cheese. Everything was excellent! Good smoke ring on the brisket, meat was very juicy and not dry. Only complaint would be that I prefer the stems removed from my collards, not a deal breaker, just my preference. All of the BBQ sauces were excellent as well. The atmosphere was awesome, loved the old vintage hometown feel. Can't wait for my next visit, I will arrive earlier to try and get the daily specials!

My dining companion tried the combination chopped and coarse chopped pork BBQ while I just had chopped BBQ. My serving of chopped 'Q was moist, flavorful and had just the right amount of smokiness. The coarsely chopped BBQ was also very good but not quite as moist. The red BBQ slaw was very good and not spicy. We each received a serving of just-out-of-the-fryer hush puppies. I thought they were very tasty and had a perfect amount of onion. The fries were served hot, but were just typical frozen potatoes, so I probably skip them next time. Pro tip: try just a drop of the house sauce before slathering it all over your meal. It's a bit spicy so make sure it works well for your palette. We split an order of cherry cobbler for dessert and received a very large serving big enough for at least 3 people. It was warm, good, and not super sweet.
