What happened to the food at Country Boy? We ordered a patty melt....simple enough, right? Burger patty, mustard, pickle, raw onion, slice American cheese toasted on wheat bread??? What is this even called? Horrible! Also ordered mushrooms which were burnt and the ranch is horrible! How can you mess up ranch dressing? Never eat there again. So sad, been going since I was a teenager. Must be new owners trying to save a buck and not understanding how to cook country food! read more

Man, I love this place! It's a true drive-in, exactly what you'd expect, and the food is awesome. The breakfast burritos are hands-down my favorite--whether you go sausage, bacon, or both, they're all packed with flavor and easily the best in town. The service is always good and friendly, which makes the experience even better. My only wish is that they opened a bit earlier, around 7:30 or 8:00 AM, because I'd be here even more often. As it stands, when I'm in town around 9:00, this is my go-to spot for a burrito. Always a great treat! read more

I was starving but only wanted some bomb crinkle cut fries with loads of seasoning....I choose Country Boy over Frosty King and boy am I glad I did! I ordered the large and brought my steaming hot fries to the bar with me. Best decision ever! read more

By far the best French fries in the city. My kids enjoy them with shakes. The service is usually pretty fast, but in the instances it may take longer in the drive thru, there's a place to wait out of the way of traffic. read more

I actually love this place. We come here after church on Sundays. All four of us can eat for under $30. That's half of what the other burger places are. Anyways, we love the burgers and fries, we haven't tried anything else but I look forward to trying out something different next time I visit. The service is great. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The seating inside is nice. The drive through also is an option if you don't want to sit down to eat. Overall, it's a great place to eat at with your family. We'll be back read more

I adore Country Boy Drive in. I do wish it was set up better so there could be more than a few cars in line. I just try and get there when it's not so busy. It is your typical local burger joint in a lot of ways. But, the food here just sort of hits different. At least the fried food. Their fries are seasoned well and crispy. I also like getting their fried mushrooms and zucchini. Their ranch isn't AS good as other places, but it goes well with the food. I had a chance to try their breakfast burritos. Got a bacon and egg one, honestly if they could figure out their salsa, it would be a home run for me! I found the salsa to be just watery and spicy. Though the crispy bacon piled into the burrito with fluffy eggs and hashbrowns was so good! Overall, this is a great place to stop by if you want to get a classic burger and live near Rosedale. Is it the best local burger joint? I think it depends on who is cooking that day, but it's a good in a pinch. Beats going to the larger fast food chains. read more

Possibly the best thing on the menu is the teriyaki beef or teriyaki chicken. A very tasty and filling meal. Everything else is about what you'd expect from this type of place-greasy, fried goodness. Their fries are good too! Very crunchy, perfectly salty. I am happy to have so much seating, but wish it was cleaner. Service is pretty good! It's always busy, but fast! read more

I'm so terrible , been to drive thru three times in a week. Their fried zucchini is the best in town. So crispy but soft on the inside. Their ranch is disgusting, you really don't need it, it's good with out the sauce. Their burgers are small , but delicious. I get it everything went up in prices an they prices are reasonable, so it's a smaller burger, but worth it. Customer Service is okay , but not bad , we went when it was busy, they look overwhelmed. When ordering the food , he read back the order , a little surprise it was incorrect , even with him reading it back. read more

I went to country boy July 8, 2024 i made a purchase with my credit card that only the employee had in his hands . Two days later i got fraud detection on my credit card for mobil boost and wing stop in bakersfield online . I do not live in bakersfield and the last time i had used the card was several months ago . The fraud company believes that my card was skimmed here at this restaurant by someone. Sadly this was horrible since Country Boy is an all time favorite of ours when we did come to town . There is a pending investigation currently going on and a report was filed . read more

Well I've been coming here over 30 years. Unfortunately it's lost its appeal and sentimental value. I mean, how do you screw up a plain double cheeseburger? Country Boy. So much lettuce on it it's ice cold when it's time to eat it. More bun than meat and the meat was flavorless. I'm giving two stars for the French fries only. Best Fries in Bakersfield. If your looking for a quick local fast food place that's not your everyday chain, look no further than Country Boy! The only thing I would add as a note they need to get better at is the milk shakes. If they came out colder and more ice cream than super soft liquid this would be a complete 5 star for a fast food type place. Everyone should serve fries in a brown paper bag...it's the best way they come!!! read more

Sorry star rating. Went there for lunch and really was in the mood for something good. Looked at the menu and decided to try their Patti Melt. Husband loves their Pastrami sandwich which he said was the best he's had in town. Got my Patti Melt and it didn't look at all like it. They added mustard and pickles to it. I don't care for mustard much, but I have never had one with pickles and mustard on it. Don't care for Rye bread so I asked for white bread. Normally you have grilled onions on it, but they used cut up onions. I left disappointed with it. Won't order that again. Maybe one of their cooks needs to read the recipe on what it takes to make a "good" Patty Melt. read more

Best french fries in Bakersfield. The food is very good for what it's supposed to be. Last meal we had pick up and everything was hot and fresh. My granddaughter had the pastrami sandwich and said it was excellent. Pastrami was juicy and tender. My son had the chicken strips and said they were good also. I had the taquitos and although I don't like the new ones that they've had since Covid, they were done the way I requested. As always the french fries and the iced tea are the best in town. read more

One of our teachers at school entered a drawing for a free catered lunch from Locale Farm to Table, and we were so lucky to win! The drawing was the owner Heather's way of giving back and showing her appreciation for teachers. She was especially touched by our teacher's story, which made the win feel even more meaningful. Many of us who work at the school already dine at Locale and absolutely love the food, so we knew we were in for a treat. Heather brought some of their most popular dishes, including a hot honey goat cheese spread with Pyrenees bread, roasted butternut squash and Brussels sprouts, a fresh garden salad, and a chocolate and strawberry pastry for dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious! What really stood out, though, was how much thought Heather put into making sure everyone could enjoy the meal. She heard that we had some vegetarians among us and went above and beyond by preparing additional dishes without bacon so everyone had plenty to eat. That extra touch meant so much and really showed how genuinely caring and thoughtful she is. Having this incredible meal right before the first day of school was such a special treat.
