Came in town for a night and wanted to get something that wasn't a greasy fast food chain. This restaurant is a small family owned business with nice staff and it provided a pleasant atmosphere. I will not hesitate to leave a dirty restaurant, but this place was clean and provided a pleasant experience. A lot of the food is fried. As you should expect with southern comfort food, but there are some healthy options on the menu if you wanted!

This was a good find. Over on the west side heading to sale but wanted a nice breakfast. Parking lot was kind of full so thought what the heck. Immediately seated and was brought coffee. Candyce ordered the bacon cheese omelet with grits. I order my usual of 2 eggs hash browns and cheese with biscuits with sausage. The order came out hot and fairly fast. One thing the biscuits are very light and tasty. Don't pass them up. Everything was great. Good find. Not sure why only 3 stars.

Usually don't eat lunch there but ,I did. The cabbage was old over cooked and full of bacon. I got diarrhea from the cabbage. The meatloaf was a meat loaf. The little potato was sad. I expect better for 23$.

They have done a great job of renovating the old bar-b-q spot. The Southwest chicken is a tasty choice and they serve breakfast all day which makes my wife happy because she can eat pecan waffles 24/7. The service is somewhat stressed because they can't find enough servers to work but they worked hard to keep up. The desserts are homemade and are worth the calories. The prices are very good and they have a lot of regulars.

My wife's meal. Omelette with side of hash browns.

If you like bland food and somewhat cheap. This is your spot. My wife wanted to try something different and we thought maybe since they took over the old Sonny's they are probably doing something right. I go the Sunday special which is the pot roast. I assumed it would be pork with carrots and potatoes. Instead it was some pieces of pork chops, some pork fat and stuffing. I got mashed potatoes, green beans and fried pickles for my sides. The mash potatoes were not fresh, couldn't be. The green beans tasted as if they opened a can of green beans then dumped it into a pot and turned it to boil and then served it that way, not even a hint of salt or flavoring. The fried pickles were decent although a bit greasy. I did not finish the pork roast. It had more flavor than the sides but the pork chops were a bit dry.

What's not to love about a daily special where you get three sides and one of the sides can be dessert. Hello awesome lunch. Visited the Country Cabin with my BFF after a non-productive shopping experience so we were very hungry. We both ordered the Pot Roast with carrots and potatoes. I ordered cucumbers, field peas and the chocolate cake. The meal came with biscuits which were warm and fluffy. The pot roast was tender and the carrots and potatoes were cooked just as tender with all the juices of the Pot Roast. I dipped my biscuit in the Pot Roast gravy, sopping up all of the juicy goodness. The field peas tasted fresh picked and were seasoned good but could have used a bit more salt for my preference. No points taken off for my preference as they were still very delishious. The cucumbers were also fresh off the vine. Salt, pepper and vinegar and so good. And lastly the chocolate cake. Most and good and chocolatey, it was the perfect way to end the lunch. The nice thing about the lunch was that you did get alot of food, but it was not "too much" food where you felt like you needed to roll out of the restaurant. Great home cooked meal at a great price $7.60 each plus $1.50 For the drink.

The food is always amazing, and the atmosphere is energetic and fun. A very special shoutout to Christine, the bartender, who truly stands out. Her personality, speed, and professionalism are everything you hope for in a busy restaurant and bar. She's extremely knowledgeable about the menu, makes fabulous drinks, and still manages to make every customer feel welcomed even during the rush. Also, the dishwasher must be a hard worker because there was never a wait for clean dishes Christine the bartender said that he is also a hidden jewel! But the true hidden star here is Barry -- and although his title may be busboy, I'd definitely call him a busman because of the pride he takes in his work. While waiting, I watched him constantly keeping the bar and surrounding areas spotless. Nothing sat on tables for more than a minute. He stayed moving, organized, and focused the entire time. It's refreshing to see mature, hardworking staff who truly know how to handle large crowds during a huge event like the Jacksonville Jazz Fest. That level of teamwork and customer service does not go unnoticed. Highly recommend!

I ordered their cinnamon roll, and it was so yummy (and I'm a stickler for a good cinnamon roll)! I also ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on Texas toast with hash-browns. The sandwich was great, but will I say the hashbrowns were just OK -- I'll probably go with the country potatoes next time. The overall vibes were casual in a nice way -- nothing too aggressively themed, just a good and bright breakfast spot. Our server, Bonnie, was friendly and helpful. I ended up ordering a hodge podge of breakfast items: eggs over medium, hash browns, cheese grits, a waffle, and a blueberry muffin split and grilled. My mom got an egg sandwich with grits and vegetarian sausage (yay!). Our food came pretty quickly, and I hoovered up everything on my plate. Everything tasted the way you'd expect: just good breakfast food. The hash browns had a crisp top, which is vital for me. The malted waffle stood out the most; I could smell it the second our server walked out of the kitchen with it and I ate the whole thing, even though I frequently split a waffle and take half home for later. The muffin was good, but a special shoutout for the option to have it split, buttered, and lightly grilled. I immediately requested my mom start trying that with her own blueberry muffins next time I'm over. It's a little pricey, but what isn't these days? It sure hit the spot.
