She reserved 6 cabins to fit her entire party, so fam pretty much monopolized the entire area. The bench and tables came in handy during feeding time. It's only a few seconds' walk to the lake, and if that's not your thing, there's also a well-kept pool available. There's a playground for kids as well. There are charcoal grills for use if needed. The cabins are dated and rustic, but that's just part of this place's character. It's fully equipped with everything you need - towels, soap, extra sheets and blankets included. The overall interior decor gave off a 70's-80's vibe. Not complaining - just describing it on a personal level. They should consider doing a few upgrades, though (hopefully without having to raise their rates!) PET PARENTS: Dogs are allowed but there is a fee. (I believe it was $35/night.) But it's the bonding and building family memories that I appreciated most. And this place was truly a good one to do it at. We had a wonderful time!

Our next trip will likely require 10 to 14 cabins. We love the rustic casual aspect of Shore Acres for our quickly expanding extended family. If a place is too nice, we worry about all the children running around. That being said, there are some clear maintenance issues that need to be addressed. There were issues with the plumbing. Shower heads that were split and sprayed out the side. Or the rain shower heads that are designed for higher water pressure, so they weren't very efficient. My personal cabin, 110 Lakefront needs new faucet canisters in the shower. It was nearly impossible to get a reasonable temperature. You had to tap the cold faucet in order to change the temp one way or another. It was too sensitive to turn. Many of the windows in various units didn't open at all or wouldn't stay open. Or the screens were damaged, allowing insects to fly in. This made it difficult to cool off the cabins in the evenings. 109 lakeside had a mini split A/C that didn't even work. The coffee maker in our unit 110 lakfront had not been cleaned and was full of old coffee. The new ceiling fans with lights have a setting that turns the lights on and off randomly. It's called an away setting for security purposes. The problem though is the remote isn't clear on how this is turned off and on. So, the lights were constantly turning on and off randomly forcing us to just not use the fan and light. The grassy area in front of 110 lakefront is the area where we like to all put out our chairs to relax together and look out at the lake while the kids play. This area has some deep ruts and trenches from vehicles driving through in the mud. It's since hardened causing a dangerous tripping hazard for everyone, especially the elderly. It needs to be tilled up and leveled or filled in with dirt. Some of these issues were addressed by maintenance, and some we just dealt with as we wanted to relax and not be inconvenient with maintenance. We also had a few nights where the swimming pool, and community barbeque area were taken over by employees and their families. I appreciate a company that values their employees. Though we were a large paying group and shouldn't be competing for space with the employees. For the most part our group is pretty chill, and we would have just accepted it for what it was. Though how the trip finished is really what has left a sour taste and moved me to leave this review. The power went out about 9pm the night before we checked out. The reason is totally understandable and acceptable. But the fact that Big Bear Vacation Rentals was aware of this before it happened and did not notify us so we could be prepared is not acceptable. Just having the chance to charge our phones before it went out. We had 36 people there with a lot of small children that were scared. And we had to pack up and get out that next morning without any power. I was asking about a later checkout with no responses. In fact, the responses I was getting were not even relevant to the questions I was asking. I have saved the whole text thread. Lastly, we had some family members who had forgotten items in three different cabins. This is ultimately their fault. Though it was very difficult to get through to anyone to report it. When I did get through, I was assured that items are always turned in by housekeeping and we would be notified. But days went by with no response. I had to keep asking about it. Ultimately I was just informed that nothing was found. I can see where one lost item didn't turn up, but 4 items just vanished? Where did they go? Ultimately, we love this location for our large family trips. But I'm stuck in the middle of upset family members who are now pressing me to find a different location. I'm hoping they calm down by the time I start to book again as I do love it there. I will say that the gentleman on location there during our stay was very friendly and helpful, though I can't recall his name. This Review was posted directly to Big Bear vacations, which responded in a very generic way. Were now approaching 3 weeks away and nobody has responded further. Since my future business isn't important enough to even warrant a phone call from management with an attempt to rectify these issues my family has urged me to take this public to inform others of potential issues they may incur.

I came in the middle of October and even though the property was packed, I hardly saw my neighbors during my stay. I appreciate the interior of the cabins that made me want to book in the first place! The cabin itself was very clean, the kitchen had everything you needed (yes including coffee!), and the home was stocked with extra blankets and pillows. BONUS that it had a washer and dryer inside! The property is within walking distance to downtown and nearby eateries. I also had my own designated parking spot too. Although it was very chilly, I didn't use the community hot tub, but I did spend some time at the bonfire pit at the center of the property. Things of Improvement: This is my personal take, but perhaps some art prints on the walls and some privacy on the patio and near the bedroom window. Other than that, I'll be back!

Our room had a fire place and for $6 we were able too purchase fire wood. The room had very few toiletries so be prepared and bring your own. I loved the porch each room has. I liked that It had a fridge but not microwave. I could hear our neighbors in the other room but It was minor. Same goes for the street noise level. As for myself It did not seem to bother me at all. Outdoor premises has a playground and barbecue Pits. Big plus is that the village is within walking distance.

Quaint and Cozy Stay in a Beautiful Setting at the Sheephorn Chalet:…read more First Impression: Stayed here over the weekend for a wedding and I couldn't be more impressed with the rental. Everything was clean and accessible. Great big cathedral windows in the front of the house that radiates in the natural light and beauty that surrounds the area. Parking was easy and can fit around 3 to 4 cars (not including street parking) and there were plenty of extra toys you can utilize during the snow season (sleds, etc were in the garage). Unfortunately, there was no snow yet, but if there was, I'm sure I would of took advantage of that. Comfortableness: Beds were plush and clean. Pillows, bed sheet and throw was available on each bed. Showers were spotless and no noticeable residue that is very common in a lot of rentals. 2 large clean towels were available for each room and there were plenty of towels for the jacuzzi. Heating worked just fine and the fireplace kept the rental warm throughout the night. The 2nd floor room had an additional heater if needed, but the furnace worked just fine. Internet was readily available and easy to connect to. All appliance were available to cook a nice meal if you wanted and all of the glassware were clean. I can really tell that the homeowner took pride in his/her rental. Conclusion: After the wedding, we soaked in the spacious Jacuzzi (Can fit up to 6 comfortably) and winded down for a bit. The ambiance was serene with a cold, brisk night and the heated spa created the perfect paradox. The surrounding area was quiet and the neighbors were very nice. When all was said and done, we turned on the Pandora that was available on the TV, turned on the fire place and just relaxed and enjoyed the night with some wine. What I noticed about the location of this cabin was that it was further away from the heavy tourist areas but close enough to grocery stores, restaurants and shops. So if you are looking for peace and quiet this is the perfect getaway from the everyday stresses of life. This cabin includes a living room with a cute fireplace, a small but full kitchen with a eating area, full bathroom (water pressure is good and it heats up pretty quickly), a bedroom with a closet, access to the backyard, a front porch and a cozy loft with a flatscreen TV that I didn't touch once. I was primarily there solo to detox from the busy life of Los Angeles and not to ski since I was there beginning of May. Snuggle Bear Cabin had everything I needed to detox. I laid out my yoga mat and meditation pillow upstairs in the loft and it had an inviting view of tall trees out the window. It was a perfect environment to reflect on life, letting all creative juices flow, read and write. The solitude was exceptionally welcome. The final full day that I was there, my boyfriend came up to join me. And really...all we did was snuggle.
