I was in the area and wanting some breakfast, so I stopped in and grabbed two donuts. It was late morning, so they weren't busy. I'll start by saying the donuts truly exceeded my expectations. I got a Boston Creme and a Glazed Raspberry Filled, lest the powdered sugar end up all over my face & shirt. Both donuts were generously-sized and generously-filled. They tasted great. The display case was filled with other large donuts, claws, bars & etc. I really hope that the kitchen is where they focus their cleaning and maintenance efforts, because the dining room is a neglected mess. Been my favorite donut place in Boise for the last 20 years. That being said I don't care much of the new ones. Which I've tried all of, I mean all of them because I really like donuts. I've really tried to stop eating so many sweets and be a lot healthier in my diet. Basically if I'm going to cheat, and I'm really craving donuts this is where I'm going to be. It hasn't changed much in the last 20 years, it's still wonderful. I've never had a bad experience here. Country donuts is like its name suggests, more like home cooked. I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone who likes chains. The sweeter more heavily fried donuts like Krispy Kreme or Dunkin' Donuts. They are not like those places. read more

This was our first visit after hearing a glowing recommendation from a friend. He was not wrong. The young lady serving us was helpful and kind and we were blown away by the wide selection of donuts, including blueberry, cherry, and apple (plate-sized) fritters, huge maple and chocolate bars, large variety of raised and cake options, and many muffins. We selected a dozen and have enjoyed them all. The fritters were delicious, light and fluffy on the inside with a slight crunch on the outside with just the right amount of fruit. Highly recommended. As I am leaving town to go back home to Tacoma, Wa I always make sure I always stop in at Country Donuts. Donuts are always fresh and delicious. One drawback that scarred me a employee was touching his mouth with his hands as he was serving me. It was really disgusting. Eat the donuts! Please don't try Egyptian food. I have never thrown away food before that I bought at a restaurant or a deli but today I made an exception I found the Chicken shawarma inedible. I had one bite and the chicken was hard and crusty. The pita was cold. My husband had the steak and lamb and he did the same. He was Too embarrassed to throw it away at the store but we drove promptly to a garbage can outside the store and tossed it. Unfortunately we did pay for the food. This place is epic. Best donuts and experience. Been here twice recently, both on Friday night. The cute old guy working can barely talk but he's so kind and helpful. This is the best real doughnut shop in Boise. You can get okay doughnuts at the grocery store, overpriced let-down doughnuts at Starbucks and Krispy Kreme etc. A single fritter is enough food for 2-3 people. Soft in the middle, crispy on the outside, they are just right! They have three flavors of fritter, Apple, Blueberry, and Cherry, I recommend trying them all. Greatest doughnuts that have every been on this earth. This is a family owned establishment with great people! On Sundays we go down there we are served by almost always the same woman that we have known for like 5 years! The doughnuts are WAY better than Krispy Creme and make my mouth water just thinking about it! What I get is the maple chocolate chip. The first time I visited this shop, I was excited to try a local business that made donuts but upon entering the store, we were greeted with, ah...nothing. A man walked up to the counter and the only thing other than , "what would you like" he asked if we wanted the product bagged or boxed. No smile, nothing. After we placed our order and the donuts were boxed, he said, "the other guy will ring you up", ah...ok!? We figured maybe they were having a bad day and decided to wait a week or two and then go back. We did and the customer service was about the same! We were not greeted when we entered, a different guy this time, just stood there looking at us. My husband asked what a certain creation was called and he looked at my husband and said, "those are nuts"...no shit Sherlock...! Anyhow, we placed our order and while waiting for the machine to work (process our payment), another customer was waiting. An employee walked up front, looked around, took out his cell phone, opened it up and went back to the back of the store. Really folks? Is this really how you run your business? My conclusion, no matter how good the donuts are (which they were not - mediocre), it does not excuse bad service. I will not go back to that store again. read more

Best donuts in the valley, Worst customer service I have ever received. I can overlook the broken down, dirty store front. I can overlook the long lines. What I can't overlook is the terrible, terrible attitude of the woman that helped me. I have had her help me before and every task she has to complete, like boxing donuts, is just the worst thing she has ever had to do. It literally took all she could muster to go in the back to finish filling out the order and she made sure you knew it with loud exhales and eye-rolling. She capped it all off by rudely telling me that my order was too large and that I needed to call in 24hrs in advance or she would refuse to sell me donuts. The rule that appeared in thin air about the 24hrs didn't bother me. They way she flippantly used it as a weapon against me for making her walk around a bit did. The red bearded gentleman at the cash register was more than helpful and very polite. He even helped me carry the boxes to my truck. I left a zero on the tip line of the receipt before he helped me but his actions made me wish I could go back and change it just for him. Attitude is everything when it comes to business. If she isn't the owner than she needs to be fired. A smiling face means the world to a customer. read more
