We wanted to like this place, but my 2 daughters, aged 7 and 8, had a very poor experience on their first day of summer camp at this center, located on Cielo Vista. The teacher they were assigned to was rude to the children throughout the day, making remarks of frustration, such as "Don't you listen?", "Jesus Christ", "Oh my God, you all are so annoying", "Shut your mouth", and others. She also threatened to hit a classmate who was playing with drumsticks if he didn't stop. My younger daughter was nervous and crying throughout the day (she gets anxious in new surroundings) and at one point when my older daughter tried to console her while in line, the teacher pushed my older child towards the wall and told her to stay in line. The teacher whispered under her breath, "I hope these kids don't come in tomorrow." Also, we pre-paid for breakfast and my daughters were denied breakfast, even though it was not 8:00 am yet (their breakfast cutoff time). When we picked them up they complained the whole way home and my youngest even threw up from the nerves and anxiousness she under went throughout the day. We had to withdraw the children the next morning, and spoke to the Director, hoping they look into the matter and make things right for the children. We lost out initial deposit, but we cannot tolerate this extremely unprofessional treatment and hope that for the benefit of the other children, the school will address and correct this weakness as soon as possible. read more

Well like you might have heard from other folk that have toured CCL grounds, their selling points are some of the crazy amenities they have available for the kids. A movie theater room, ice cream parlor, mini golf, water park and libary are some of the extras their campus has but if you look closely if your child goes every day, they will only get to do those things once a week. What I like about CCl is that they allow drop in day care for emergency situations. You must put in the paperwork, which is lengthy and have a dr letter with immunizations on file along with the $50 registration fee but after that, if you find yourself needing care between the hours of 6-6, they can likely help. I was going to use CCl on a weekly basis but after walking up to my child classroom & hearing yelling directed at the kids and rudely, I only use this place on emergencies. The other point that convinced me to look else where for regular care is the ratio of adults to kids and the fact that they don't have any monitors in the bathrooms. No one to make sure there wiping or washing hands or even if they can get the bottoms off, just a door to a bathroom & hope "hope you got this!". Yes there might be some fun activities but if you look at their staff and the attention that they are actually giving to your child- the fun starts to lose its pull. read more

If your child is at Country Home Learning Center off of 281 behind Taco Cabana, for after school care, and has Ms. Kayla in the Soda Shop.... watch your .... behind. When I pick up my son from there, I usually sit and hang out for a little while talking with Ms Kayla and letting my son play a little longer. This has been the case every single day for well over a year. Kayla and I have developed a friendly rapport (I thought) over that time to the point that she calls me her favorite Dad. We have conversations about anything under the Sun while the children play. Yesterday, while the kids were having their little Halloween party eating snacks and candy, I was sitting at the counter watching something on YouTube. I don't remember what, but I laughed and made some comment about it. To which Ms. Kayla responded "what did you say?" So I repeated it for her. I don't remember what it was because it was of no consequence. She said "OH... I thought you said they're perky". I gave her a confused look for a moment, then realizing she was gesturing toward her breasts. I responded in shock saying "KAYLA! I WOULD NEVER SAY SUCH A THING TO YOU!" ... (first of all... of were being honest and open, they really aren't). She then explained to me how people often don't "talk to her" but rather "to them" using her head and eyes to mimic looking at someone's breasts while pointing to her breasts with her hands. At this point it is necessary to set the stage a little: It was Halloween, all the "teachers" were dressed up in costumes. Her's was one of the Pink Ladies from Grease.... sort of... she was wearing a pink ladies jacket.... but was wearing a top that was cut VERY LOW... and a push up bra that lifted them a lot, and squeezed them together to maximize cleavage, the purpose for which could ONLY be to accentuate them and MAKE THE NOTICED. Now, bear in mind, these are young elementary children she has, which frankly makes the "costume" fairly inappropriate for the venue. Something they apparently have no problem with. Anyway... I said "Kayla I would never say that to you. Yes I noticed them, but I would never say anything like that." We continued to chat about just nothing of any importance after that, and everything was as it had always been. I went on believing the matter settled. This afternoon, I received a call from one of the directors for the Country Home business. I was accused of sexual harassment, for "they're perky" (WHICH WAS NEVER UTTERED IN ANY FASHION), NOT for "yes I noticed them", and made to feel like a criminal. I am both DEEPLY INSULTED AND DEEPLY HURT that a person with whom I thought I had built a friendly relationship has done such a thing surrounding what in all honesty was a completely innocent "NOTHING". I have removed my child from their care and WILL NEVER EVER STEP FOOT ON THAT PROPERTY AGAIN, NOR WILL I EVER HAVE ANY INTERACTION WITH A SOUL FROM THAT PLACE. AND IF YOU DO.... BEWARE THAT SOMETHING COMPLETELY INNOCUOUS CAN RESULT IN ACCUSATIONS LEVELED AGAINST YOU, OF THE SORT THAT CAN DESTROY YOUR VERY LIVELIHOOD! read more

My child has been coming here since he was 10 weeks old. He loves his teacher Ms. Melissa and talks about how he plays on the "big kid" playground. We were very sceptical considering shes never been in child care before but now after 5 months, she loves coming and I feel very comfortable with her being here. My kids have gone here for 5 years and I love this place! There is so many different things for them to do, and lots of activities. My kids have always had great teachers who teach my kids and care for them. My kids both now come for summer camp each summer and Love it!!! They get to go on a field trip almost everyday during summer camp and they get so excited! The director has always addressed my concerns and always has an open door policy to all parents. My children have been attending Country Home since they were all infants. I remember being terrified when my oldest was first needing care because I used to be so against day cares, but when my husband and I visited one of these facilities we were overwhelmed with how at home they made us feel. I knew my babies would be very well taken care of, and they have been for over 8 years. The staff is all very kind, the facility is extremely clean, and it has so much to offer for every age. I often hear yelling from the teachers as I walk the aisles either dropping off or picking up my child. I am a teacher myself and this is highly unnecessary. It is proof that the teachers lack classroom management skills and are not provided effective training in classroom management. If a child has broken a rule - DO NOT YELL - simply enforce, consistently, a negative consequence. It needs to be clear and simple. However, a well-managed classroom will minimize their discipline problems. Effective teachers are proactive and plan to prevent behavioral problems from occurring in the classroom. Classroom rules need to be reminded daily. Yelling at and humiliating a child is grounds for dismissal. Just the other day I heard screaming from a teacher so I stopped to watch. She didn't notice me at the window. I observed for awhile as she screamed at a 4 year old as he sat on his knees in line. He was in tears. She then asked him to sit on his bottom and when he didn't comply she grabbed him by the arm and forcefully yanked him off his knees until his bottom hit the floor. At that time I opened the door and asked if I could speak with her. She came to the door and explained that the student had hit another student. At that time she should have enforced a penalty. Screaming and being physical damages a child's mental development. If there is a consistent problem, with said child, a behavior plan needs to be set with teacher and parent. I will continue to monitor the behavior of these teachers and keep my journal up-to-date with documentations. Ineffective teachers need to be relieved of their positions here if this school hopes to prosper. read more

New teachers every week. Children are moved from classroom to classroom! I never know who is really watching my child. Walked into a 2 year old class and children were everywhere. I would say upwards of twenty for two adults. They need to figure out a way to hire more dependable staff and how to hold onto teachers. Also, walked by the kitchen and the kitchen woman was talking out loud about her boyfriend issues for everyone to hear. Ridiculously unprofessional! My boys love their teachers and going to school! Country Home, Cielo Vista location,has a lot to offer, however communication between front desk, teachers and parents is poor. We started in July and have had numerous issues because staff does not communicate with each other. We are told different things from different people and spend a lot of time trying to fix issues that should not even be a problem. read more

I too walked up to the window to see how my grandson was doing, the teacher did not see me and yelled "Stop Running!" and a little boy started to cry...did i mention these are 2 year olds. After much research, we decided to enroll in Country Home after a glowing recommendation from my sister in law, whose 2 children have gone there for years. They have amazing facilities, but that is not even why we love it- we have been nothing but pleased with our experience, and our daughter is still too young to enjoy most of the splash park, putt putt, soda fountain, etc My daughter thrives in her class, and has shown much growth- more than just a "day care" this truly is a learning environment. We are constantly told how smart our daughter is for her age, and we firmly believe she would not be the stand out she is, if not for CHLC fostering such growth. The entire staff knows my daughter's name, and says "hi" to her every morning and afternoon. Staff members I have never even met know my daughter, by name, and know who we are, which gives me the confidence and security that they are all very tuned in to the environment, who is walking around with what children, and what might not seem "normal". When I was pregnant with our second (who is set to enroll in CHLC in 2 months) the entire staff, again, even those I did not know, spoke to my daughter about her little brother and prepared her for his arrival. They always checked in with me and my pregnancy, and the morning before we checked into the hospital, they all knew it was delivery day, and shared kind words as we dropped off our daughter. They had our baby's future classroom make him a "birthday" card and sent it to the hospital. The staff is very warm and the teachers feel like close friends. I love that there are indoor play alternatives for days that are rainy, or too hot or cold, so she can still get her energy out. I love that they give parents copies of the curriculum so we can reinforce at home. I love the fun dress up days and classroom parties. I love the Parent's Night Out that they do as a fundraiser. Overall, we highly recommend CHLC and are so happy it came to Leon Springs. read more

We came to Country Home Learning Center in Leon Springs back in 2010 after having a bad experience at another local daycare. The Country Home staff made us feel at home and welcomed my almost 2 yr old with opens arms. After a few months Luke started to have some behavior challenges and was having a hard time getting along with his friends. Country Home was so patient and worked daily with him trying different teachers and different approaches to help him. Each and every teacher that dealt with him was patient and caring. Not once did they ever make us feel we didn't belong there or that they were going to give up on him. He is now almost 4 and doing amazing. He has had the most awesome teachers and Luke shares a bond with each of them. We walk through the school and everyone knows who Luke is greeting him with a hug or a high five. My children have been at Country Home for only a few weeks. That said, my ratings of the center may change as I get more data. First, let me say the facilities are very nice, lots of activities, and so far the staff has been agreeable. However, this morning as we were driving our 3 y/o to school he started singing praise to God, and to the "Lord" and some other prayers. Our jaws dropped. Our household is Secular and Buddhist (the secular variant), and Christianity is not part of our belief structure. Further nowhere in the school materials did we read that praying was part of the curriculum. I spoke with admin, who stated a short prayer to God (whom we don't believe in) IS policy. Teachers apparently must choose between three possible prayers: One to God in English, one to God in Spanish, and one what merely gives thanks, but not mentioning a divine creator. I asked that the third one be used with our children (although we would prefer to keep these kinds of instruction at home), and so far admin was receptive. We'll see. However, admin did remind me that it's hard to please everyone, and that some Christian parents would get upset if there were NOT prayer. I find this to be highly discriminatory to non-believers, secularists, Buddhists, or those who otherwise prefer keeping these instructions within the family. The most inclusive way to address this would be to have no prayers, or instruct the children to pray silently if it is their belief. Reciting prayers out loud as a class smacks of proselytization. Even if the child has the opportunity to opt-out, group prayers create peer pressure, and fears of not belonging, especially for 3 y/o children. read more
