it's really a shame this nice place, has a problem with the hours it is open. I have stopped there numerous times their open and the door is locked. They lost a good customer because of this. they really need someone who cares about the business and knows how to abide by your sign that says they're open. Stopped here on the way to the shore. The diner is clean and the wait staff is pleasant. However, the food was inedible. My husband had the pisano omelet which contained pepperoni that had no color and a clump of square cheese in the middle. I had the creamed chipped beef that had no beef nor flavor. No amount of salt could save it. The hash browns were so mushy they could be mistaken for mashed potatoes. I can promise you that we will not be returning. read more

Here for Sunday breakfast. Took 40 minutes to get served much less 15 minutes to see a waitress for coffee. Then ordered eggs, Italian sausage and grits. Server brought burnt home fries. By the time we called for her and finally got the grits, I had finished my meal (minus the burnt home fries). Then had to wait for butter as grits got cold. Owner refused to remove from bill and rudely told us don't come back if you don't like it. So I won't. Blackwood diner is much better. Even Angelo's in Glassboro. Terrible customer relations. Recently, I was at the Liberty Diner in Clayton, NJ. Interestingly enough, the Liberty Diner is owned by the same people who own the Liberty 2 diner in Bordentown. I was surprised to find this out since it is quite the distance between the two. Anyway, I was looking forward to an excellent breakfast. Atmosphere: The Liberty Diner is the stereotypical NJ diner. The exterior is a big, shiny, metallic building. It sticks out on the highway. The interior has everything a stereotypical diner would have: booths, tables, big mirrors, a full-length bar, and of course a dessert case.  It could use to be cleaned, but other than it was good.  Coffee: The coffee was brewed hot and fresh, and the waitress kept it refilled the entire time. I couldn't have asked for better coffee if I wanted it.  Food: I arrived around 10 am and was craving breakfast. The Liberty Diner has everything from breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are plenty of omelets, steak and eggs, lunch specials, and dinner too. I was craving an omelet, so I decided to order the vegetarian omelet which came with toast and homefries. The omelet itself was massive! I can't remember the last time I've had an omelet that big. It was stuffed with broccoli, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, and peppers. There were plenty of home fries and the rye toast was good too. My meal was not only massive but delicious too. I left full.  Service: The waitress was one of the most friendly waitresses I've had in a while. The diner wasn't too crowded, she checked on us often, and our food came out quickly. In all, it was a great experience. Overall Thoughts/Summary: I had a positive experience at the Liberty Diner and enjoyed myself. I would go back. read more

Arrived just after 7am on a Wednesday,no one there except for a couple of the standard regulars and the waitress, who I guess was still on autopilot and asked the standard 'you want coffee?' This place is what all local diners should strive to be. The staff is pleasant, attentive & quick & wants to make your diner experience pure joy. The food from breakfasts to dinners is served hot & quick & to your liking.Some of the dishes I would recommend are the Southern Omelet, pancakes, and any dinner specials. Their soups are some of the tastiest around especially the French Onion. I have 2 diners 5 minutes away from my house, with 1 claiming to be the best in Burlington County and the other a SJ landmark & I still travel the 20-30 minutes to enjoy my meals here.If there's a small complaint, it's that the dinner specials are the same depending on the day. After finding this place I eat here often. read more

Thankfully I didn't write a glowing review yesterday when I was here. (btw... The food was great). Let me update this since I've had a week to rethink what I was gonna originally write. I stepped in here one evening for a takeout order. The waitress was about as helpful and pleasant as can be. So I settled on a stuffed chicken breast dish that was amazingly good. So good that I came back the next night for another takeout order.... I chose a meal (spinach ravioli with lamb sausage) and started telling the waitress which sides and desserts I wanted (this was part of the meal on the menu). She tells me that the dessert and something else wasn't available for takeout on this special. It really rubbed me the wrong way considering there wasn't anything on the menu that said that part of the meal wasn't available for takeout. It definitely didn't say that the price would be lower for the items they conveniently chose not to serve for takeout. I ordered the meal anyway, (it was very good), and was on my way after tipping the waitress. It's a small gripe. But not really small when I felt that i was being shorted as a customer, regardless of whether I was eating in or not. Would I return? Yes... the food is really worth stopping in for. But I would hope that the management would take a closer look at what they advertise as to provide to their customers. I don't think what I was told is worth risking upsetting any people who are regulars there. read more

We eat here all the time. My only regret so far: their off the menu salmon. I've had it twice now and, while they give a nice portion, it definitely seems like it was frozen and wasn't good either time. PRIME RIB EXCELLENT. We had a "shameful" experience at the Liberty Diner after Sunday morning mass. With a group of four (a 95 yr old lady on a walker, a 90 yr with a cane, and a 73 yr old couple), we headed to the the table area. There were no tables available so we were ushered to the "other" end of the diner. Unknowingly, there were no tables there (only booths). The 95yr old because of severe back problems can't sit in a booth. Some kind and generous people offered to give up their table so we trace back to the "other" end of the diner tables area. Now this is when the owner got upset, rude, and grumpy told us to stop tracing back and forth and suggested we just leave. When we confronted the owner as we thought we miss-understood what he just said - he repeated "just leave." Is this a place you would want to visit where the owner rudely and without sensitivity would throw out a group of four (4) elderly people - two of which were handicapped. The owner owes the group an honest an sincere apology - which mostly likely will not happen. Based on this review, you should re-consider going to this diner based on principles of courteous treatment of anyone especially handicap elderly. read more

I'm from out of town and was visiting family, we decided to order breakfast to go, when you arrived we was never greeted and the waitress looked at us and continue doing what she was doing and then finally asked can she help us, still now greeting, when food was brought out when asked for extra syrup and the waitress gave us attitude, the manger came out and didn't greet us either, the manager then checked us out and never looked are way, I felt we was treated this way because we are black. read more

Memorial Day Monday, 5/30/16. Stopped in on our way back from Parvin State Park. Was so glad they were open! I got ::: chicken fried steak with sausage gravy rye toast eggs over medium hash browns extra dark and a side of bacon with a cup of coffee. He got ::: two eggs over hard with spicy sausage home fries extra dark and a Belgian waffle with a hot chocolate. Everything was amazing. The eggs are fresh, the home fries were as we ordered them, extra dark. Service was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is awesome, super retro, and very clean. This diner is interesting but an unfortunate event occurred with our legally blind friend 95 years old (using a walker) her group consisting of another 90 yo (using a cane) and two others in their 70s. The manager or owner was rude and eventually told them to leave. These friends are not loud nor rude individuals and nothing that occurred warranted the treatment they received. read more

Our family enjoys eating at this diner. We liked the chicken fajita wrap it was savory and flavorful. My favorite diner food is french toast short stack with eggs over easy with bacon and this place did not disappoint. French toast and eggs were perfectly cooked and bacon was thick and crispy. not the best place but not the worst. ordered a spinach and feta omelette and it came with home fries. it doesn't say it on the menu but the home fries come with onions and it's about 50% onions and 50% potatoes. this was weird to me cause i never been to a place that makes potatoes like this and it had a loooot of onions. one complimentary refill on drinks (also kind of weird for a diner). the lighting was very dim and the restaurant itself looks like it's straight out of 1980 (but also looks like it hasn't been cleaned since the 80s). service was okay. will not be returning but not the worst place to grab a quick bite. read more

I've been here three times and the first two times everthing was great, except for the older lady waitress that acts as if she can't greet you as you come through the door. I ordered the broiled shrimp scampi over spaghetti which I have had before and it was horrible! I waited for the waitress to come and check on Us to see how everything was which took her until my husband was finish his meal. I explained to her how I didn't enjoy the meal that it was very bland and the shrimps were over cooked "mushy". She did apologize and asked if I wanted something else I told her no thank you. I saw her speaking with who We believed to be the manager or owner. We took the bill to the counter which he wasn't going to mention the issue so I bought it up. He never apologized, never removed the item from the bill but did say there is nothing wrong with the scampi sauce what do you want me to do? What I want you to do is please you're customers Mr. I just want to say that my hard earned working money spends anywhere and I worked in the restaurant industry for several years starting off as a hostess working my way up. POOR service! 10 minute wait for coffee, another 10 minute to take our order, then 30 minutes more for overcooked omelette and burnt toast. Cream cheese stuffed french toast with strawberry topping sounded better than it was- overly sweet canned topping, runny whipped cream, cold French toast.
