The menu on Friday Fish Fry has a limited amount of food and items are tasty. However, we were not told the menu prices and check prices would not be the same prior to ordering. We asked why the check was $10 higher, (2 entrees only, no drinks). The server sent the owner over and she was a little short with us. She said the new menus were delayed. This serious menu prices issue might explain why there were only 2 tables of customers, the place was nearly empty at 5:30 p.m. The staff has changed. There's no friendliness or efficiency among the staff. The server yelled across the restaurant, "was that 4 waters with lemon?" The customer care has spiraled into borderline rude and is definitely not the same as it was. I told the server and the owner that the hush puppies were cold and hard as rocks. The check rung up a haddock even though it was cod that was served. The burgers are very good, but they need to grill the bun since the bottom bun was super soggy. The owner needs to step up and take some responsibilities for the drastic changes in poorer service, too. We have been regulars for several years to this gem of a 'small town diner' in the middle of Winter Garden Florida. There is a great deal to be said for consistency over a long period of time. The staff is great, friendly, professional and very efficient as in a moments notice they can go from a bit of slack in the crowd to standing room only in a heart beat. And the food, just great, dependable comfort food time after time. Expect a crowd, especially on the weekend, choose your table. The wait staff will bring your menu, take you drink order and be back to take your order for breakfast/lunch. The will leave your check and pay at the door. I'm a breakfast gal (if you haven't noticed lol), so I can be a little harsh with my assessments. Country House met most, if not all of my requirements. The food was really good, especially my sausage! When I found out they had giant links, I almost broke my neck asking the waitress for the Georgia plate. My bf ordered an omelette, and the one complaint we had was all of the vegetables were sliced, not chopped, so you either got a whole onion, or a whole bell pepper lol. We appreciated the fact that the waitresses are attentive, but not pushy or fake nice. The restaurant is BUSY so they attended to you if you needed help, but they weren't in our faces so we were able to enjoy our food and company without feeling rushed. The one star missing is for the coffee. There was no way to make it taste good, it just was lukewarm and kinda weak, and I like my caffeine like I like my men lol. The restaurant was quaint, and decorated to reflect the season and it had little quotes like "raised on sweet tea and Jesus", which was adorable and added to the experience. I have stopped here for breakfast a few times. It has always been good. It is a local one of a kind restaurant. It is neither fancy nor large but very popular. The seating area has been nearly full. The service was fine. Servers were quick offer coffee and take orders. Food was served in reasonable time. I have had their Western and Veggie Omelettes. They use 3 eggs and include a patoto selection (home fries for me) and toast. I enjoy breakfasts here. read more

Visiting my sister from out of state and she brought me here for breakfast to show me one of her favorite spots! The place has a small parking lot and definitely gives a small town restaurant vibe. You sit yourself and the server comes around to give menus and collect your order. It was early Sunday morning before we were off to Disney World and the place wasn't too packed or busy. We got our food very quickly and I enjoyed everything. I was surprised when the server asked if we wanted our drinks to go and she came back with a FULL to go cup! I ordered the liver and onions and it actually came with brown gravy, which wasn't on the menu. Liver was quite dry and tough and I'm guessing that's the reason why they smothered it with drown gravy. Also, the menu is very sparse and doesn't offer much. They also do not offer military discount servers wasn't very friendly and also I was really overpriced for what I received for breakfast. read more

Ok, so we have driven by here several times and today we finally stopped! Adorable restaurant on the inside, country decorated, a lot of funny signs with great sayings throughout. Wait staff very friendly and very helpful with food selection. Now, let's talk about the food! I got the Western Omelette with home fries and biscuit. I won't say that the omelette was horrible but just not what I like and use to in a Western. The green peppers and onions were raw, which I do not prefer in my omelette. They would be awesome if they were sautéed alittle and in smaller pieces ( green pepper is a Julianne cut, just need to cut down). The cheese tastes like American slices of cheese, which just tasted funny. The home fries were perfectly cut (bite size) and grilled perfectly. The biscuit, well, lack of flavor, just no butter flavor at all and well, kind of dry. Hubby had the Trail Boss breakfast with corn beef hash and hash brown casserole. The hash brown casserole was so delicious, just off the charts good. Eggs were prepared perfectly, over medium. Corn beef hash was good as well, just alittle over cooked. FIL had the Country Boy breakfast. He said everything was very good! I would give this place another try but just not getting the omelette! read more

Went to the Country House Restaurant for the second time this morning and can share some great takeaways. Service: Welcomed with a "grab a seat anywhere" from the servers. This felt warm, inviting, and honest as they were all serving multiple tables. Our server, Megan, promptly came over with menu's and to take our drink order. It was about 5 minutes later that we had our food out. This fast pace kitchen explains how a very busy restaurant keeps their waits down because with turnover must be essential to feeding their demand. Food: traditional breakfast faire with extra points for crinkle cut fries (my favorite) and a really hearty sausage gravy. In the best way, it was nothing out of the ordinary- which made it comforting. We finally made it in. We pass it all the time and we love a good breakfast place. The place is super cute inside, plenty of parking in the lot and the service is phenomenal. Everyone was so nice and the food came out super fast cooked perfectly. I am crazy picky about the cook on my pancakes and most places they come out a bit uncooked in the middle even when they are golden brown on the outside. Well they looked beautiful and then when they came out so fast I was worried. But they were cooked to perfection. So delicious too. Hasbrowns were golden and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My mom was so excited because she loves liver and onions and she was able to order them at breakfast. She said they were so good. I tried her mashed potatoes and gravy and yum. We need to go back and have lunch sometime soon. Hughley recommend checking them out for breakfast or lunch. Great traditional breakfast spot. No frills. Just good food and super fast service. It was busy on a *Wednesday morning*, and we still got our food within five minutes. Have been wanting to go to this place for a while now. Average at best. Wait time was quick to get you. Service decent. Ambiance very cute and home feeling. Food, average. If a restaurant closes at 2:00 PM that means they are open until 2:00 PM. I've worked at restaurants in my life and of course nobody likes to see customers coming in at last minute especially big tables but you have a business so that is what you have to do. If they don't want customers coming in at 2:00 PM then you need to close at 1:30 PM. I love Country House's breakfast. I usually go every weekend sometimes Saturday and Sunday. I have seen people come in 10 minutes or so before 2:00 PM and be turned away saying they are closed. Today (Saturday) I was told they close in 15 minutes, so there is no breakfast available, I could see if they ran out of items, but they're open Sunday so are they not gonna have breakfast for Sunday? And there was still many customers inside still eating. Today will be my last visit to Country house, I know I won't be missed there because they are a very busy restaurant but I can't continue to go to a place that can turn you away when they say they are open till 2:00 PM read more

This is such a cute little local restaurant. The servers are attentive and even with a full restaurant, food comes out fast. I really love their homemade soups and breakfast items. Their lunch is okay. I recommend their country fried steak off the lunch menu. Today i tried the reuben, but it was kind of bland in my opinion. Almost missed our turn in as most of the parking is on the side and around back. There is a 2nd entrance, too. It's just past the Mini Storage and Super Tire Center if you're coming from Winter Garden Vineland/ Daniels road. Felt like we were the only non-regulars here this morning. But the servers were super friendly, welcoming and happy to recommend their fave items. Good crispy bacon and hash browns. They even have hash brown casserole, which i really enjoyed. This place has been around forever and I have been quite a few times for breakfast so not sure why I haven't reviewed it yet. It is a local diner type establishment. I LOVE the omelets here - I typically get mushrooms and cheese. There is lots of both inside the omelet. The hash browns are cooked well and it comes with toast. I usually eat the omelet and a little bit of the hashbrowns and then too full for much else. It is also fast and with great service and good coffee. It is tucked out of the way, but worth the stop in for some good diner food cooked to order. read more
