This place used to be my breakfast go to spot. The food was really good, but the prices are pretty high. The service was pretty solid.

My wife and I are visiting Winter Garden and wanted a local diner for a good breakfast. We found one in the Winter Garden Restaurant. We stopped in about 9 a.m. Sunday morning. The sign said, "Seat Yourself". As soon as we seated ourselves, a young man arrived with menus and asked for our drink order. A few minutes later our server arrived to take our order. They posted a special of banana/caramel French Toast. It sounded really good, but I wanted a regular breakfast of eggs. The server suggested a side order of the French Toast. I ordered two eggs, hash browns and sausage. My wife ordered a breakfast sandwich. We ordered the side of French Toast. The food was delivered very quickly and was hot and delicious. I'm glad I only ordered a side of the French Toast. My wife and I shared the French Toast. It was very good and the small side order was just the right amount. The breakfast servings were very large. This place was exactly what we wanted. A local diner with good breakfast, reasonable prices and a friendly staff. I'd highly recommend it for anyone looking for the same. read more

I feel like this is a solid old fashioned type breakfast restaurant. It doesn't look like much on the outside, It's got a solid menu, no frills or gimmicks but hearty food for a reasonable price. The menu is pretty standard. We came in around eleven on a Sunday - I expected it to be busier given its location and the day & time but it was actually pretty quiet for the majority of the time we were there. The service was not the best imo, our waitress was really impatient. Food was solid. I got the two egg breakfast w/ bacon and a biscuit. The biscuits are made in house and I HIIIIGHLY recommend getting one as it was the highlight of the meal for me. Super huge, but fluffy and light. This unprepossessing diner service traditional coffee shop breakfasts and entrees. Service was friendly and quick. There was nothing particularly special about the potatoes, bacon and eggs, but nothing wrong with them either. The biscuit was served more like a square of corn bread, and was pretty good. Been meaning to try this place for some time. Treated my son to what he said was his favorite pancakes so far. The pancakes were the size of his head and perfectly prepared. I got the Skillet which is basically an omelette with breakfast potatoes and gravy on top. Out of this world. The coffee was piping hot and delicious. We loved looking at all of the historic buildings in the pictures hanging on the wall. We will definitely be back to sample lunch soon. read more

So this morning I wanted to find something new for breakfast so I went looking on my Yelp app and found the winter garden restaurant, sadly right off the bat it started off bad it took forever to get our drinks, silverware, and food. My biscuits and gravy we're ok at best but the middle of my biscuits tasted weird and a interesting texture , my country fried steak was tiny and tasted frozen , my scrambled cheese eggs were good as we're my hash browns so that was the savings grace but along with everything else it just wasn't enough to save this place for me My gf and I were only checked on twice the food took forever to get to us not because it wasn't ready but because would not pick it up from the ready erea . I'm not saying that I don't recommend this place at all I just wouldn't recommend it for breakfast or at the very least I wouldn't recommend ordering what I ordered. Two stars is the best I can do here. Hopefully lunch and dinner items are better but I do not recommend breakfast here at all read more

In trying to change up where we eat all the time for Sunday breakfast we ventured out to a little diner you really wouldn't know was there unless you were looking for it ( I never saw this place even thou it was in plain sight ) when you walk in it is seat your self there is a mix of tables, booths and a bar ... It's an adorable little place as far as the set up but on to the food I ordered the breakfast special with country fried steak - it includes eggs cooked to your liking a choice of biscuits and gravy, 2 pancakes or french toast ( I choose french toast ) I also ordered a side of seasoned potatoes He ordered the same as me but with the biscuits and gravy with an added order of hash browns We both agreed that the fried steak was less than desirable and super thin ( not to mention I asked for the gravy to be left off mine and put on the side however they didn't ) ... My French toast wasnt tasty at all ... And my eggs could have used some flavor as well ... However the highlight of the meal for me was definitely the seasoned potatoes they we're crispy and hot and perfect.... He basically hated everything he ordered nothing was good for him expect the few pieces of seasoned potatoes he snuck from my plate... Now the service ... We had 3 count them 3 servers 1st took our drink order than never came back 2nd took our order but didn't check on us again until she was dropping off the check and 3rd ( my least favorite ) the one who dropped off our food she came out trashed talked the kitchen about what they didn't do right with our meal she brought out anyway ( mind you at this point it had already been about 45 mins we were waiting for our food ) we decided just to take our food instead of wait for the changes to be made and she left Overall I will not be returning the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of one is I liked the seasoned potatoes read more

Sat down waited 15 minutes at a dirty table and not even acknowledged. I understand they are busy but at least make an acknowledgment to let us know you realize we are here. The waitress didn't even look our way. She walked past us several times and didn't say a thing. I also understand this is probably A locals hangout however, if you are open to the public, you should be treating everyone the same. She eventually walked by and threw menus on the table. After 20 minutes I finally asked if we could get the table cleaned oh, she brought a rag all right and literally through the salt and pepper and katsup across the table. She's very fortunate it didn't hit one of us. That would have been a whole different story. That definitely would have been a liability for the restaurant. You may want to tame her down a bit before she does "accidentally" injure a patron. We got up and left won't be there again and wouldn't advise anybody to go there unless you are a local need to reconsider the waitress she needs to maybe find a new job. I have been visiting The Winter Garden Diner for many years. It's a no frills experience. You will receive decent diner food at decent diner pricing. It is a seat yourself family establishment that is clean and orderly. The staff is very friendly. Today I ordered pancakes and sausage. My pancakes were hot and the sausage was good. My husband ordered the same but added over easy eggs. His eggs were prepared perfectly and taste great. The coffee was a bit weak but being hot kind of made up for it. There was someone walking around pouring coffee during our entire meal. read more

I honestly love this place for what it is. It is a basic diner. It has regular old pots coffee and what you would expect to eat at a diner. The eggs may be slightly runny from time to time. The decor isn't great...and I still love to eat here. This is where I go when I'm feeling like having a big, quick, reasonably priced, and calorie filled breakfast. Perfect for a hangover. This place could be better. Pricing is a bit eh...but the food...not great :( I just got the two eggs bacon and grits. Grits had hard chunks of grits..eggs were severely over cooked..bacon was okay...just no flavoring and over cooked. They should reevaluate the cooks back there. Upgraded WGR from a previous 2 star rating to a 4. Breakfast has always been good but service level had dipped in previous visits. Glad to see that there has been improvement with the servers. Coffee service was attentive and our visit today was enjoyable. I hope to see the service level maintained so they can remain at a four or progress to a five! We used to eat here a lot, when we lived in the area. It had been a few years, since we ate here. We used to love it, so we were in the area and decided to visit. Nothing like we were used to. Pros: My club was good. Their sweet tea was great. Cons: My husband got the fried chicken. While the meat was juicy, the breading tasted fishy. Not good at all. Service.... our server acted like we were a burden; however, we noticed a pattern. Men that came in alone was serve quickly with a smile. One waitress, a blonde, was very unprofessional with men. She called them baby, saying she was their restaurant girlfriend. I don't care if they were regulars, it was not fun to watch her all over them. Nor watching her with her hands in her ponytail all the time. She never greeted couples, only men alone. NOT impressed. We will find somewhere with less flirty waitresses and better food to spend our money next time we are in the area. read more

This place is awful... A complete joke. Since it's the ONLY diner in the area. Been here 3x and everytime food is average and service is the worst ever. Server only pays attention to the regulars. If your NOT a regular you will be ignored. All 3 times I had to get up after being seated for over 8 min and ASK if someone is gonna take my order. At my house, the Winter Garden Restaurant is referred to simply as the diner. It is our stop almost every weekend for a hearty, affordable breakfast and a great staff of servers who treat us like family. The menu is extensive and they have something for every breakfast mood; big, small, savory, sweet, you name it- they'll serve it to you. I love the skillets (especially the country fried steak) and the waffles are always very good. However, my favorite meal to get is just a classic sunny side up with toast and hash browns and fruit with a nice cup of coffee. I usually gobble it all up and don't need to eat again until dinner :) read more

Best part of the place is its biscuit. The fluffiest and best tasting ones I have ever had. Huge on top of that. More like a cake size then biscuit. The other food well yeah they had other food. Not the quickest short order diner place you will find. Food was ok. I couldn't really see myself craving to go back there. It's one of those yeah I guess lets go there tired of the other places. Service was Interesting. Some people got greeted with open arms others barely an effort to make eye contact. You didn't get that your welcome here come on in feeling like you get at the Ocoee diner. We had a similar experience as other reviewers. Some customers were greeted with smiles and others were not, like us, for example. The favored customers were also served faster. The table next to us arrived well after us, yet received their order a solid ten minutes before us. No complicated orders from either of us. When the food arrived, the bacon was limp, the onions in the omelet were raw and the biscuit was rock hard and black on the bottom. Also, had to ask for utensils so we could eat this lovely meal. I showed up at noon on a Sunday, and there was no wait and I was seated immediately. The menu is sized appropriately and has lunch and breakfast items on it. Since I was behaving this particular day with my diet, I ordered a nice omlette. It had some chicken and spinach and peppers in it with a little bit of salsa on the top, and it was prepared well. Their coffee is good, and they had some really tasty sounding sweet and savory breakfasts that I'll order next time I go on a diet cheat day. Hopefully their biscuits and gravy do not disappoint me; I'm still looking for a really good biscuits and gravy place in Winter Garden, as the other three breakfast diners in the area I have been to (First Watch, Country House, and Avalon Diner) have either not had them on the menu, had them but they were bland, or had really bad service. So the service was pretty good. I was worried that I would have issues with the service due to the average age of the staff (I realize that I am getting old now; I saw at least two of the hosts/floaters that looked like they were 14, but they were friendly, attentive, and the servers were quick. My coffee was refilled quickly, I had plenty of water, and my wife had her tea topped off the whole meal. I'll definitely head back to this place if the wait at First Watch is more than a few minutes (FW is closer to my house), or if I get the craving for biscuits and gravy. read more

Came because of positive reviews but mostly had same experience as many here for years it seems. Greeted by server who didn't seem really interested and showed it through our visit. Finally brought more coffee with bill a little late never got extra water we asked for. Seemed more interested in people they knew to go talk too than checking if we needed anything. Food was bland and overpriced for quality. Breakfast not great, eggs and pancakes served cool not hot. IHOP on colonial or cracker barrel at other end near shopping center on other side of hwy 50 has much better quality and price for food. This was a clean new looking place but nothing special with food or atmosphere on this visit. Parking lot full of cars is normally a good sign but didn't mean much for our visit. Ok... went to WGR this am for breakfast and all in all it was "ok". And I wanted to give them 4* but I struggle with the service. They were nice enough -- but there's no sense of time! It's like they move in slow speed and it wasn't that busy. We ordered a breakfast skillet and it was "warm" and served properly and a 2 egg breakfast (I requested crispy/well done potatoes - they weren't cooked correctly). I watched our food sit under the warmer for an extended time while one waitress was chatting with another employee... our waitress was cleaning while our food sat. This kind of stuff makes me crazy - aren't the customers supposed to be the priority? We were greeted almost immediately upon sitting but then everything just went to turtle speed. The meals were both warm not hot... I'm sure because it sat under the warmer. It's like they're on the edge of being a good restaurant but they don't know how to kick it up a notch. I'm an over 20% tipper and I hate when I can't leave that kind of tip - makes me feel guilty. But I can't reward "slow" service. C'mon WGR do better! read more

We thought we'd try a new place for breakfast, we thought wrong. There were only 1 or 2 tables seated when we walked in so my immediate thought was "I hope this place is good even though there aren't many customers". The woman behind the counter told us to sit any where.... then Nothing. No "we'll be right with you" no one brought us menus, no one came to our table. Three servers but no help. One woman was on the phone, ok understandable that she's busy but one other was playing w/ a water bottle and the third picked up a cloth and went to a dirty table. This place never fails! Today I ordered one of the breakfast specials, which consisted of mixed berry crepes with 2 eggs and 2 pieces of bacon or sausage. Luckily I favor turkey products and was able to get turkey sausage. Let me just say the service is amazing! Super friendly and enthusiastic staff. My mug of coffee was never left empty for too long on top of the food coming out quickly. But those crepes.... They are OUT OF THIS WORLD! I highly recommend this restaurant!
