Love this little place. Their chicken and waffles is surprising good, it's not roscoes but it's still good.

I was in Ramona taking care of some things and decided to come get some breakfast at the Kountry Kitchen. I'm not sure why they spell "country" with a K, but I have to admit I was a little nervous to ask. But I'm glad I went inside to try it, because the food and service was outstanding. The location is a small space inside a strip mall on Main St (or Hwy 67/78) in Ramona's downtown. If you've never been to Ramona, you can get a sense of the town by picturing an advertisement I saw on my way to breakfast: "Premium Hay 4 Sale". It's a small town, maybe 40,000 residents, almost entirely Republican/Tea Party conservative. But things are very traditional, you can actually smile at someone who smiles back. The KK diner is small, about 25 seats max. To get to the restroom you have to walk through the Kitchen. There was just one server for the entire restaurant when I came, and many tables were filled. It's laid back, and the menu is made up of traditional comfort food. I got a dish called "The Stack" -- crispy hash browns topped with two poached eggs, a generous slice of ham, and hollandaise sauce. Yup, it was amazing. The hollandaise sauce was savory, which is different than the lemony sweetness I'm used to, but still very good. The hash browns were cooked perfectly. Oh, and the coffee is very good, too. I was visiting a friend in Romona. Naturally having to get breakfast I picked Kountry Kitchen as my eatery for the day. The prices were more than fair and the portions were huge. The French toast came with 6. Yes 6 GIANT pieces of French toast, 2 eggs and 3 slices of bacon! All for around $12! Hot coffee, sweet waitresses, great atmosphere. This is a must for anyone looking for a quick bite in Ramona. read more

There aren't very many places to eat at in Ramona and last time we were visiting the town we were disappointed with breakfast spot we chose, so the hubby turned to yelp and found this gem! Such a cute country themed restaurant with made to order home cooking. I loved the assortment of creamers to choose from with my coffee. I ordered the trader breakfast with a Belgian waffle, bacon and scrambled eggs. My toddler got ahold of it before I could snap a picture to share. Definitely coming back here on our next trip to Ramona. read more

This place was amazing! They have the friendliest staff that make you feel like you're at home and the food was great. I personally ordered the chicken fried steak with scrambled eggs and hash browns with gravy. I was disappointed that the eggs were not seasoned and the steak was a bit over cooked and dry. The experience though made up for it and I'm willing to give them another shot the next time I'm in town. read more

Oh so delicious! Went for breakfast on our way to wine tasting in area. Small hole in the wall sort of place with the best food and service. The buttermilk pancakes were deliciously, fluffy and size of a hubcap. My husband had the chicken fried steak it was massive. The flavor in the breading has just a little kick that made it full of flavor. Wasn't dry at all and had great crunch. A must if you like chicken fried steak. I'm not usually a fan of biscuits and gravy but it also had great flavor. Perfectly thick gravy and paired so nicely with the steak and biscuits. I used a little for my eggs. read more

I don't know if it because if I'm black or what because all the other white folks food seemed fine. Called to get a pick-up order as that's the only option for restaurants at this time, and they told me I couldnt order because: "We have a table of 16 to serve". Which meant "Sorry we cant serve you because we have people in our restaurant, even though COVID-19 is still going on and every other restaurant isnt allowed to have people dine in." If every other business in Ramona is suffering, 1. Why would you deny an order that makes you profit, and 2. Why would you have in house dining when you know it can shut you down? I've been going to this restaurant for decades. Usually the service is amazing. Sunday they were busy, I totally understand, so our order took long. The waitress brought it to us and away she went. My order was not complete and partially not what I ordered. I got the attention of another waitress and let her know. The toast came back actually toasted!!! YAY. The waitress stopped by and we let her know. She goes on to make an excuse in an argumentative way that was about my friends breakfast??? LOL. Just to be good sports we nicely let her know the back of her black leggings were covered in dog hair which was unappetizing. OY! I hope your day got better Shannon. Normally when coming to a restaurant and you find amazing customer service, the food isn't all as wonderful. Except for here that is. This place is a real gem and a great find. A friend of mine was helping me bring home furniture with his truck when we decided to get food first. This place does not have a parking lot so you will have to find street parking, that is the only issue I had found here. When I came in with my friend and daughter we were seated in the back with a long booth so I could set my daughters car seat, but as we sat my daughter got fussy in her car seat and they brought over a booster seat. Every single worker here has an amazing kindness. The fact that not one employee was mean or rude made me extremely happy. I ordered the wrangler which consisted of your choose of 2 pancakes, a waffle or something else? (Sorry bad memory) choice of hash browns or potatoes (which are mixed with bell peppers and onions) bacon and/or sausage and 2 eggs. The food was magnificent! The waffle was so soft on the inside and perfectly crispy on the outside, the bacon was thick and delicious and I HIGHLY recommend getting the potatoes over hash browns! Thanks to our waitress ,Tracy W, I was pleasantly surprised by them and thankful for the recommendation. We stopped at this quaint little diner for breakfast on our way to spend the day in Julian. We were just too hungry to wait :) It was super busy but we were instantly made to feel comfortable and important and the staff went above and beyond to always keep us informed about wait time for our table. They have an awesome menu. We settled for omelets and coffee. But here's the shocker. The portion sizes are enormous. You certainly get your money's worth. Also they are always ready to fill up your coffee and even though the patrons were all local and we stuck out like sore thumbs, everyone was so polite and made us feel at home. Our 3 year old ordered a pancake and it came out as a image of Mickey Mouse. She went bananas. And ate up the entire thing. We are still in shock. They went out of their way to ensure our kids were looked after even though they were filled to capacity. The food was great. The atmosphere warm and inviting. The decor was adorable and the staff in a league of their own. We will be back!!!!! read more

This restaurant was super cute! However the food was not up to par :(. My date and i came for lunch and total was $22, not including tip for a roast beef sandwich and steak and eggs. My roast beef was very rare and almost completely pink all around. I've never had roast beef this way and I didn't like it because it was not tasty. The sandwich was very dry. Can't speak for lunch or dinner, but the breakfasts here are phenomenal. Big portions, fair prices, not the quickest but extremely friendly and welcoming service. When I get a breakfast here, it usually lasts me two meals. I've tried a few different things but now pretty much stick with the seafood benedict, which is incredible. Others have gotten waffles, eggs, omelet, meats, etc., and nobody's every had anything bad to say. I like it, my kids like it, guests I've brought here have liked it. We went here because our first choice (Marmalade Cafe) had a 30 minute wait and we were too hungry to wait for that. So we came here instead. I'm so glad that we ended up here because the food ended up being really good and very reasonable in price. We came here on a Sunday right before 11:30 and we were able to get seated almost immediately. My boyfriend got his breakfast hash while I chose to get a Reuben sandwich. We were both really impressed with the food, especially the Reuben. This isn't the standard, deli meat Reuben, it's the thickly sliced meat that you don't find in too many places. They are so nice here and the food is amazing! They have accommodated my family so well. My sister is pregnant and the only thing she wants to eat is their house salad with raspberry vinaigrette and their croutons. Went to breakfast this morning ordered a California omelette with country fries. The omelette was extremely greasy and didn't taste good. The country potatoes were old and burnt and hardened that were not eatable. Extremely disappointed with the quality of the food. I took my family to eat here for the first time. The food was amazing. My husband has celiac disease and they were able to accommodate his gluten allergy which is always a major issue we run into. If you haven't been in awhile, it's well with a revisit. The food is classic comfort food with large portions. Happily, things aren't too greasy (a pitfall for diner foods). I like the breakfast burritos, pancakes and fruit bowls for breakfast. I need to visit them for lunch or dinner to give their other offerings a try. The restaurant has been remodeled recently which makes it much roomier. Fresh paint has really lightened the place up. I did take off one star because they are slow with taking orders and refilling drinks, but that's not a big problem if you're there with friends and looking for a relaxing morning. read more

We had seven people in our group and there were those that rated this place a three and those who rated it a five. I took the average with four. We did have to wait, but it was Sunday morning and we had a large group, so that wasn't surprising. The Awesome: The chicken fried steak. Huge and delicious. The kid's pancakes: came out looking like Mickey and they ate them, so they must have been good. The Average: The biscuits and gravy: Not too salty, but a little bland. I would add some sausage to the mix. The eggs Benedict: the sauce broke so the presentation was awful, but it still tasted good. A little on the salty side for me. I would like to recommend a new menu item: the Kountry Benedict - similar to the Eggs Benedict, but topped with gravy instead of hollandaise. The coffee: for real, life is too short for bad coffee people! There were chunks in my creamer as well. I haven't eaten there before and honestly didn't expect to enjoy the French toast I ordered today but I was quite mistaken as it was rather out of the ordinary. I don't know what bread they use but it's doggone yummy. I asked that my scrambled eggs not be overcooked and they came out perfectly. They gave me a combo of the bacon and the sausage and I'll be darned if it was some of the best sausage I've had in quite a while. If I'm lucky, maybe next time I'm there this Covid crap will be over with and I can eat inside like a normal human being. read more

Wow! What a horrible experience it was. We were seated right away, and a busser took out drink order and said our server was gonna come to take out order in a few minutes. She did and she was on older woman with glasses. We ordered a kid meal for my son and a sandwich for me. After 35 minutes waiting for food and our server ignoring our table I went and asked someone else to check on our order since it was a long time. Then our server came out and brought our food. It was clear that it has been sitting under a heat lamp for a while because it was barely warm. No apology on the wait whatsoever. I ate the food only because it was over 40 minutes by now and I was hungry and I did not want to wait another 40 minutes for a remake. Server was all over other tables but didn't even come to check if the food was okay, and I had to get up and go to the register to pay. At the register some 3 different staff members ignored me and all walked away. In the end one girl came I told her I want to pay she gave me the receipt to sign and I put a big 0 on the tip line because the all experience was unacceptable. As a son as me and my son were walking the older lady, our server, went to young girl to enquirer what happened. I wish she would have been adamant to help us out and bring our food when it was ready, not when it was already cold and disgusting.
