I went to the Country Kitchen with a friend. I knew the food would be good because the place was packed. It can be hard at times to get fried eggs over easy. This place did it just right the first time. I added some salt and pepper and they were almost as good as my mom's.(You'll never read a review " as good as mom's" from me.) I enjoyed the food. Although the place was busy. We got our order quickly. The service was friendly. The waitresses called the regulars by name. Which is big with me. I felt the prices were reasonable. This is a perfect breakfast stop. The eggs are ranch eggs, and they actually taste like eggs instead of the stuff most restaurants pour out of a carton. Same with bacon, sausage, and the ham - all very tasty. Their biscuits and gravy - the epitome of comfort food. So this is the place where you go for that huge meal and want to say YUM really loud. Have to add also that the water is filtered very well which makes the water actually enjoyable to drink, and gives you coffee that you do not have to cover up in cream and sugar. If I ate here every morning I would weigh 300lbs, so I come here when I am getting a family car services at RAE and I walk over and it really makes the car appointment a highlight because I get to have a great home cooked breakfast experience. And their prices are cheap so remember to tip the gals extra because they work their butts off over there providing great hospitality. read more

I've been here for breakfast and it's quite good but I was craving a Club sandwich and we decided to go in yesterday. I ordered a Club sandwich and it took a lot longer than I had anticipated but that aside, 20 minutes later, I get this sandwich with NO turkey breast meat, only turkey leg meat and it was in big clumps...WTF?! Who thinks a Club sandwich is comprised of Dark Turkey meat in clumps This was so horrific and I was starving. I ate the pickle and had a couple of fries and my husband begged me to not say anything, so I left and went antique shopping. Also, the booths are in pretty bad shape and when wearing shorts, the shredded naugahyde tears up your skin...its gross! Stick with breakfast and you can't go wrong. read more

Phenomenal service and great food. We came in at 745 pm and they don't serve breakfast. I will tell you the French toast is the best I have ever had. The eggs, canon and rye toast all good. That French toast wow. We didn't know they closed at 8 and never felt like we were imposing on them. Food in Ramona is outstanding. I have eaten here a few times and finally decided to write a review upon my next visit. Now, let me start out by saying that every other time I've been here, I would have rated it 4 or 5 stars, but today it was only average. I went by myself and they sat me in the back room at the farthest table by the window, which I wouldn't have minded but this particular table was small and cramped. I would say it's the smallest table in the place. However, I simply asked for a booth instead and the hostess was quick to oblige. I ordered the spinach, mushroom, and bacon omelet and I got it with home fries and sour dough toast along with a coffee and diet coke. I wish the omelet was fluffy with everything packed inside but the way it was made, it was flat with the ingredients baked into the egg and folded over. Meh. I figured salsa would liven it up! The waitress, Nikki, was quick to bring some out for me but to my disappointment, it came in a little plastic, covered cup. Huh? Ok...maybe that's how they do it here but it seemed kinda cheap! The salsa was nothing to rave about. The toast was not as lightly toasted as I like, but I should have said something I guess. Anyways, I added some jelly and it was fine! I love the fact they have a basket of assorted Smuckers jelly's at the table. The home fries were awesome, as usual! I love how crispy they are on the outside and how they are soft on the inside. Great coffee...with a bucket of assorted creamers. I like that. All in all, the food was ok. The service was great. The atmosphere was homely with different coffee cups on each table and an antique, classic motif. I like the place and will be back. From my previous visits, I recommend the Scramble, or the biscuits and gravy. They also have a breakfast dish with hash browns covered with scrambled eggs sausage and gravy. Delish! read more

Stopped in on the way through Ramona looking for lunch for a hungry and tired momma, poppa and baby bear. Glad we came across this gem! Each of us LOVED our meal. I had the fish sandwich with fries, hubs had the Ortega Dip, and the cub had the Mac n cheese with hot dog... :-D Hubs and I DEVOURED our sandwiches. Generous portion for the little to take home lots of leftovers. They were gracious when we asked to sit in the front by the window since we had a truck loaded with desert toys outside. No huff about it even though it seemed like they were trying to corral people in the back of the joint. Cute little Home style kitchen. Nothing fancy. Just how we like it. We'll definitely be back! My daughter loves this place! We go once or twice a week for her Belgian Waffles. Large portions, reasonable prices and very attentive and friendly staff. They can get a bit busy at times and i'm not really a fan of crowds but that is my only negative... and it's really only a personal thing. I now come to KK every single weekend with my family, and we look forward to our visit every single time. Some servers even know our breakfast order by And I very much like each waitress. The Service is phenomenal. I love that this diner has consistently good coffee. Breakfast is always a hit and the place can get very busy, but the staff is always on top of it. They allow me to order from the Senior menu when I'm not feeling as hungry. For lunch I especially love the open face Turkey sandwich that comes with mashed potatoes, gravy, and cranberries. Pretty good small diner. I had the fish and chips and my wife had the tuna melt. Everything was really good, except the batter on the fish almost had like a pancake-like texture and was too thick. I've been going here for many years, and while usually it's been a great experience with good food, it's gone downhill in the last few months. Service is slower (we waited for over 45 minutes to get our food today, and while it was busy, it shouldn't take that long for some eggs and bacon) and when we got our food it was cold. Sent it back to get warmed which just made it rubbery. We did get comped 20%, which was nice, but it's still that a breakfast that normally takes less than an hour took us almost 2 from start to finish. Additionally, I got a California burrito today, and while I didn't expect anything amazing (it's not a taco shop or anything, you know?) I did at least expect the normal ingredients (carne asada, potato, guac, and cheese). I should have read the description, as I just saw cali burrito and got it, but it was just a breakfast burrito with a little avocado and hash browns... :( I accept that mistake is on me cause I didn't read the description, but don't call something a well known name if you're gonna make it something else. read more

The food is good with that 'home cooked' taste. The servers and cook seem to do a good job. We never leave the table hungry, which is always a plus. And we have never gotten ill from the food, which is even a bigger plus these days. It can be loud since groups seem to like coming here also so isn't a place that I would go for a quiet meal. Breakfast, which is the most important meal of my day besides lunch and dinner, is served until 2 and all day Mondays. Horrible customer service !!!! We were quoted 15 mins for a table and ended up waiting an hour or more outside in the rain !!! We had 3 babies and waited outside. We kept going inside to ask how much longer and they kept saying 15 more mins. It was ridiculous!!!! Other people were going in and being seated right away. I usually eat here and the waitress Danny takes great care of me. He makes sure my waffle is crisp like I love it and my bacon crisp. Today was awful, none of my food came out like I order it. A shame to because there breakfast is usually great. The waitress that took my order decided not to come back and make things right. The manager who was on duty decided to not bring me back my change from just paying for the waffle. Danny who wasn't working the section brought me my funds that was due to me. So I gave him the tip. Before I forget, when entering the restaurant as a customer it doesn't look good when you are arguing in front of guest with a customer. Wow. This place is deadly amazing. We came from Dos Picos camp site about five miles away for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The local farmers were gathered around a table and could not have been friendlier! The staff was amazing. When we asked to change something in our order they said "Anything we have we'll do for you". They didn't even charge us for our coffee when we told them they forgot it on our bill. The "Stack was outstanding. We split it with 2 extra eggs and were stuffed! I'll admit it - these are the kinds of restaurants I love! I always get a grilled cheese sandwich, fries, and a side salad at places like this. At Kountry Kitchen, this cost me a whopping $6! I was expecting the side salad to be just some iceberg and maybe a slice of tomato. Oh no, it was actually mixed baby greens, with a couple of cucumber slices, grape tomatoes, and croutons. It was small, but for one measly dollar, it was impressive. They make the dressings there, and the Ranch was perfection. The grilled cheese and fries are simple. It isn't some gourmet 5 cheese grilled cheese with candied bacon or something weird. Just bread, butter, and a normal amount of cheese. Exactly what I want in a grillch. Service was excellent, our server kept my iced tea full. My only regret is that I didn't get to try the biscuits, which looked amazing, the cinnamon roll, which sounded amazing, or the fresh baked blueberry muffins, which looked amazing and enormous. My wife and I almost didn't visit Kountry Kitchen because of the Yelp Reviews, I pretty much use and trust Yelp reviews to plan my culinary experiences. HOWEVER! Because I'd been near KK buying gas and caught the smell of what they were cooking the day before I had to try it and I'M GLAD THAT I DID!! We had the Pastrami Rubin on rye and Chicken Melt with Bacon, both were really good, the Rubin was OFF THE HOOK! In fact I travel to LA and Orange Counties weekly and enjoy what is commonly referred to as "LA Pastrami" usually from The Hat, KK's Pastrami Rubin has "LA Pastrami". The French Fries didn't WOW me, but the Sandwich's did!. The service was very good, other staff were fast and friendly keeping our drinks topped off. I understand for those of you who do "White Glove Inspections" would be put off here as there are many rustic things hanging on the wall and the coffee cups don't match, GET OVER IT! or go to Denny's for a plain rapper joint. I have shared some great memories with my family at the Kountry Kitchen. We would normally stop here on our way to Julian. I remember the amazing home-style food and the tasty eggs. Part of the charm is the old diner type atmosphere and the "one of a kind" customers. Well, after several years, I decided to give it a try for breakfast. The coffee was bad and the waffles were hard and seemed store bought (the frozen kind). The apples on the waffles were hard and uncooked. I only liked the eggs but this is not enough of a reason to drive all the way to Ramona. My hubby's pancakes looked like a greasy smashed bread roll. The service was fine and pleasant. The last time I went, the eggs had shell in it and the ketchup was super watery like they just added water to the bottle to make it last longer. I tried a bottle from another table and it was the same. Grossed me out.
