    Fajita Omelet

Classic diner specializing in breakfast items, namely waffles! Sequestered into the industrial part of the city yet sharing space with eateries, shops, and gas stations, Country Waffles is a beacon for those looking to break their morning fast in order to seize the day ahead. Just off of the highway entrance, it's a convenient spot to stop by before heading off to labor (whether it's work or just errands). The parking situation is decent; they share a smaller piece of the lot with some smaller eateries and stores but if need be, the main portion of the lot in front of the Target is typically vacant. Be aware, however, the cell service in this area is miserable and Country Waffles itself doesn't have wifi (and proudly so, to encourage socializing and disconnecting from devices). As you step foot into the restaurant, you'll be greeted by the staff and seated. For individuals, you may be seated at the stools and for small to medium sized parties, you'll have the option for booths and tables. For parties of 6 or more, you may have the option to be seated at their booths where the partition can be removed, creating for an extra long booth. Upon being seated, you'll be given menus for you to peruse. Their menu is quite comprehensive for all things breakfast. Waffles, pancakes, scrambles, omelets, and benedicts are specialties here and I'd wager that it's best not to venture too far from it. As a chain, they do have their local offerings representing the culture of the community and staff. If you're unsure of what to get, don't fret as each meal comes with a side of potatoes and carb which includes your choice of toast, two pancakes, or half a waffle. Hearty, protein rich meals are also available here including a favorite of many, chicken and waffles. If you do end up coming in early, you'll be able to take advantage of their early bird special, but for the rest of us late wakers, the normal menu prices are still decent. Plus, the portions are generous and fair for the prices. A defining factor is their quickness - from order to food served, you're looking at most a 15 minute wait and the food comes out piping hot. Typically they all come at once for your table to feast together. Furthermore, the pancakes and waffles are not too sweet, fluffy on the inside and crispy where they need to be. We ordered a variety of items but my personal dish was the apple garden omelet. The egg whites were light and the ingredients were loaded and cooked well. The hash browns were crispy and lightly seasoned, making it perfect for those being conscious about sodium levels. The half waffle I got with it was crispy, yet soft and supple enough to soak up some maple syrup with each bite. Flavors were great, portions were just right, and textures were on point! The service is fantastic - Nadia helped us on this visit and she was great taking care of us. She made our first time here a great experience! After you finish your meal, consider ringing the bell to let the staff know how much you enjoyed your time here. Overall, Country Waffles is a great breakfast destination for those looking for some classic dishes at great value served by community-centered folks. The food quality is consistent, service is reliable, and prices are affordable. You won't see huge crowds here during peak hours like the big chains and you'll get, in my opinion, better food. If you're looking for an alternative to breakfast and brunch, consider visiting this local kitchen and grab a plate of their namesake waffles!

This review is pending change, my visit was the day after Christmas. On to the review. So let me start off with the place was clean. I was allowed to seat myself. Thats how I will take it since the other patrons that showed up after me were escorted to seats. Just an observation I made. The sever was prompt, he kept my coffe.topped off. A huge plus in my books. The food was ok. I didn't order anything dynamic or complexe. My only issue was that the food was barley above cold. Initially the waffle had me excited. It was light, not dense and tasted good. Until I got to the second half. That part was slightly under cooked. But again the part that was fully cooked was enjoyable. With all that said, it was the day after Christmas and my server looked as if he was running solo dolo. This could explain away some of my gripes. Again I plan on revisiting to see of it was just a one off, a bad day etc.

My daughter and I came here for a late breakfast around 11am. We wanted waffles and I loved how this place had so many options! When I saw chilaquiles on the menu I was SO happy. Especially as the refried beans were vegetarian with no lard. Chilaquiles were so good my daughter finished half my plate! All the ingredients were fresh 1 star off for the sourdough bread. It was not fresh and not good quality. Hard to bite into.

Country Waffles is a small NorCal chain restaurant with a country kitchen vibe. The Hayward location is operated by an independent young woman who goes above and beyond in making the place welcoming. Nice flourishes of seasonal decor, such as adorning walls with vibrantly colored leaves in autumn, Christmas-oriented decoration during the holiday season, and so on. The menu offers an ample selection of comfort food kinds of dishes for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Often, there are seasonal variations such as pumpkin pancakes, cinnamon spiced French toast, patriotic red, white, and blue waffles, etc. Service is sometimes a tad on the slow side here but it typically holds up ok. Not rude or inattentive just that I occasionally will find myself with an empty drink that doesn't get noticed for 5 minutes or so. You generally wouldn't come here if you were in a hurry, so it's acceptable. The food and value of Country Waffles Hayward really shines though! I went with a garden omelette, added avocado, side of fruit, and a half-waffle combo, along with an iced tea. Food portions are typically on the generous side and everything tasted fantastic. The owner, whenever she's here, will often come around, acknowledging her regular customers and ensuring that all visitors are satisfied. My entire meal, after tax and before tip, came out to ~$25. Pretty great value for the quality and amount of food served!

    Cinnamon Roll French Toast
    Vanessa T.

I had the cinnamon roll french toast with hashbrowns, bacon and sunny side up eggs. The hashbrowns and bacon were the perfect amount if crispy and the eggs had the perfect runny yolk. The cinnamon roll french toast was so dry, no amount of butter or syrup could save it.

Its been several years since eating here and it is still a great place to eat. From breakfast to lunch if your hungry stop here. Plenty of seating for small to large groups. The food is served hot and fresh tasting. The servers are attentive and always topping off drinks whether its coffee or water. If your near the area stop by.

This is the breakfast restaurant where it is both good and not-so-good depending on what you order. Chicken and waffle is good... and safe, because we had dark meat for the chicken. Omelet had a generous serving.

There is something comforting about chain breakfast restaurants. Country Waffles is an example of this. It's been years since we've dined here & nothing has changed, except the prices. Service is attentive, courteous, & fast. Dining room is well lit, spacious, & feels like home. This time we ordered from the Senior Menu. Portions are smaller & prices, cheaper. My Cheese & Mushroom Omelette with biscuit & fruit was just right. Coffee is free. I added gravy to the buscuit to complete the meal. It was a great dining experience!

I've driven past this place a thousand times and finally gave it a shot. The restaurant is located in a strip mall which is a bit unusual and the parking lot directly in front of the restaurant is a little hard to navigate. On the inside, the restaurant itself is nicely decorated and bigger than I thought it would be. The food was tasty and the portions were generous. My breakfast order came with half a waffle. I saved it to the end and it was delicious. I almost wish I ate it first because it cooled down by the time I ate it and I assume it's even better warm. It's also worth mentioning that the service was super fast and they had a large team working the front of the house to keep things moving efficiently on a busy morning. I'll definitely be back.

Stopped by after a nice hike in Hayward and was craving waffles. The service was great and the restaurant was clean. The restroom is really spacious as well and very clean. We ordered the Californian omelette - was good, but the potatoes were kind of bland Western Burger- Was great Side of waffles - The best thing we ordered French Toast- Very disappointing and was ok Southwest Scrambled- Very dissatisfied and maybe the worst dish ordered. Was very spicy, with less eggs and so much jalapeño. Please see picture attached Overall not a place I'd go out my way to eat at.

Came on Father's Day and was surprised there was no wait. The food came out as ordered. Portions were right for the price. I would say this place is comparable to the breakfast club without the wait. Service was good. My coffee was always full.

I came here for brunch on Sunday. There is lots of parking and it is in a strip next to Yogurtland, Target, and Panda Express. We came Sunday and were seated quickly despite brunch rush. I ordered the Denver omelette. You can choose between potatoes or hash browns. I chose hash browns. You can also choose toast or 1/2 waffle. I got half waffle. My boyfriend got chicken and waffles. He didn't get to choose any side/toast etc. He got eggs on the side. The portions were average. I was full and ate all my food. My boyfriend ate all his and said he was full also. All the booths were busy yet the servers were attentive. The food is basic American brunch and the inside was giving diner vibes. It was nice and will be back.

I used to go here with my family when I was younger and I've recently come back with a group of friends. The restaurant is like medium size with a good amount of space. The decorations give off a western country vibe which I find very fitting for American brunch and breakfast. I really like there waffles they are on the softer side and are quite fluffy! The fried chicken is also crispy, flavorful, and moist. The service is quite quick, I got a table within 5 minutes. The servers were also very friendly and patient!

We really enjoyed all the food (chilaquiles rojos and the verdes with meat, and three quesabirrias). We couldn't finish it all! You can tell it's all homemade, which is nice. A lot of places don't make their chilaquiles sauce from scratch. We'd definitely return. The only thing I'd pass on is the Vietnamese coffee. Maybe it was our fault for ordering this at a Mexican spot, but it tasted more like cold brew than Vietnamese coffee.

We had the purple-colored Ube Pancakes and the Khao Hom Waffle, which contained strips of fresh coconut meat, and both beautifully-plated dishes were topped with berries and syrup. I was an even bigger fan of the Thai side of the menu, starting with the Papaya Salad, a refreshing, crunchy mixture of shredded papaya, green beans, tomatoes, and crushed peanut in a spicy, sweet, acidic dressing made of fish sauce and lime. For our mains, the Northern Thai Khao Soi was a noodle soup made of egg noodles and chicken breast strips in a rich coconut curry, topped with crispy egg noodles, pickled cabbage, and fried shallots. From the Chef's Special menu, the Tom Yum Crab Omelet was a mound of jasmine rice enveloped with an egg omelet, topped with chunks of crab, mushrooms, and a creamy tom yum sauce; and my favorite dish was the Roti Gai Tod, a hearty combination of breaded chicken thigh, roti (a flaky flatbread), cucumber salad, jasmine rice, and a mild but flavorful yellow curry sauce on the side. They should add Thai Tea pancakes to their menu with housemade Thai Tea syrup to make it more fusion. Pad Kee Mao w/ Chicken- I regret ordering this because the string beans were half raw, the tofu was dry, and the dish was a bit spicy. I think all of the flavor was in the ube coconut sauce that they come with. However, there is only sauce on the first layer so you might want to get extra! It is an additional $2.75 or so to get the extra side of ube sauce, though. The pancakes themselves could have been a little more moist and fluffy, as they were a bit dry and dense. We sat in the back portion of the restaurant, which seems to possibly be a new addition for them? I'm not sure. I liked all of the picture framework in the front of house, with cute bacon and egg play on jokes. Menus are worn out. Could use a reprint or lamination, but that's minor. Food: Ordered the beignets, a corned beef hash breakfast meal (husband's dish), and a 3 egg pancake combo for myself. Yum! The beignets are more doughy than I expected, but tasted fresh. This is not your princess and the frog beignet, more of a doughnut puff type? I don't know how to describe it exactly, haha. The staff was accommodating in putting their vanilla and chocolate sauces on the side for dipping which I appreciated. Pancake was good, eggs cooked well (I love a place that knows how to cook a soft scramble), while their home fries are not what I expected (I think I typically prefer a more crispy potato), this showed me that I can possibly save myself time in the future when making at home. While not crispy, the home fries were delightful, entirely cooked through with a thin crisp edge. Staff: very kind! You know it is a family run business. The only thing I found mildly off putting was that one of the young servers wore his pajama bottoms. It did not feel like something a server should wear. But, if the place is a "come as you are" kind of a place, I understand. Overall: we will come back. Good food for a good price. Overall a good atmosphere and positive vibe. Just some slight tune ups would make this place a star.
