I used the shop about a month. They replaced one of my work van's transmission. Everyone was so helpful. From the towing to the quote to the work, these guys were wonderful. I felt I could trust them from the start. The price quoted was the price I paid. I needed the brakes replaced to pass inspection so after they completed all the work, they even took it to an inspection place and had the inspection done too. I asked to have the oil changed as well. I was told since that is not something they typically do, they could do it for me, but it would be less expensive elsewhere. It's unfortunate that many people consider transmission repair a scam. County Transmissions has done a lot to counter this opinion. I've had trouble with shoddy transmission work in the past, and was anxious when the auto transmission in my Crossfire started acting up. Found out it was a faulty conductor plate which I replaced myself. However I had to get the trans controller reprogrammed before the repair would work. I had the car towed to County Transmissions. I was expecting to pay $50-$80 for this service, but they didn't charge me! What's more, they even let me pick the car up on Saturday even though they're closed on weekends. My Dad has been using County Transmission for years! When I was home this weeeknd my transmission was acting up. My Dad suggested that I take my car to Country Transmission. I remembered that we used them when I was in highschool over ten years ago. My dad swears by them. I dropped my car off. County Transmission figured out that although the error code that my car was giving was for the transmission, it was actually a computer error in my car and the computer needed to be replaced. They checked to see if my car was still under warranty. It wasn't. They suggested that I call my dealer and ask about an extended warranty because it's a computer problem. There was actually a recall on my computer and I have to take my car to the dealer to fix. I told them to invoice me for the diagnostic and that I'd pay for it over the phone and pick my car up after hours. They said that it was an easy invoice, no charge. I tried to pay them and then relented and said that now I know for myself why my dad is such a fan of their business. They said that they aren't in the business of cheating people. I give my highest recommendation to County Transmission. The professionalism, courtesy and quality of service are among the finest I have ever experienced in the automotive repair field. Recently, my 2008 Saturn Aura had severe transmission problems. Never having had to deal with transmission problems, I went online to Yelp for some guidance as to where to bring the vehicle. After some research, I chose County Transmission. I'm very glad I did. From the initial phone discussion with Michael Childs through to the completion of the work, County Transmission was absolutely excellent. The owner, Hampton Childs, took the time to walk me through the repairs that were necessary (full transmission rebuild) and the time frame. The vehicle was ready on time and at the price originally quoted following diagnosis. Additionally, Hampton informed me that I may be eligible for reimbursement from GM for a portion of this work as part of a "campaign" GM has for specific models that have transmission parts deficiencies. He explained the program, gave me the contact information for GM for this program and prepared the appropriate paperwork to take to a GM dealer. Three weeks after providing the paperwork to the GM dealer, I received a check for full reimbursement of the very significant cost of a transmission rebuild. Manual transmission on 2005 Toyota Tundra was popping out of gear and clearly not engaging fully. One general repair shop had informed the problem was internal to the transmission and they couldn't fix it. County fixed it for a very reasonable price as it was an external bushing causing the trouble. It feels like new now. They're trustworthy and that is rare in the auto repair business. They're also very busy so it took longer than I would have liked, but I highly recommend them and have them first on my list when repairs are needed. read more

I couldn't be more thrilled with County Transmissions! I found myself in an absolute nightmare scenario -- transmission failing in the middle of the highway. AAA took me to a shop local to my NW DC address, but I was skeptical of the initial quote I received for the repair, which was a full transmission rebuild on my Ford Escape. I did some research and was impressed with CT's reputation, and so decided to request a quote online. Michael very quickly got in touch and was extremely responsive over the course of the next day, answering all of my questions over email in detail and offering a very reasonable quote. I decided to have my Escape towed out to CT, which Michael helped me to arrange with a tower they use often -- so convenient, and a relief for me to know that I could handle things in the middle of the workday from my desk! Throughout the rebuild process, Michael was communicative, professional, and friendly, letting me know how things were going over the phone. The team at CT also discovered that an axle boot was dry rotting and included that in their repairs; I'm so thankful for their keen eye! This review is long overdue. I originally took my 1999 Honda Odyssey to County Transmission in January 2017 because it would slip for the first mile or so when the temperature was in the teens. Hampton took it for a test drive, could not find any problem, and told me to keep driving it. he told me I did not owe anything for the test drive troubleshooting. Fast forward to early February 2019, late one night the Odyssey finally quit and would not move. The tow truck driver wanted to take the car to a nearby garage, instead I asked him to take it 30+ miles to County Transmission and leave the keys in the drop box. I had to leave town early the next morning so I wrote Hampton an email asking him try and get my van back on the road. I received a voice message a few days later and when I returned the call, I spoke with Bill. He explained that the transmission needed to be rebuilt gave me a price and said that any parts required would be replaced and were included in the price. I asked Bill to check the rear main seal and to replace if leaking. He said that if it needed replacing he would only charge for the part since the transmission was already out. I also asked if he could extend the warranty to 5 years since I do not drive the van much and needed to last another five years. Bill said it would not be a problem. I returned to town the last week of February and went to pick up the van, hoping to meet Bill unfortunately he was not there but Mike took care of me and told me that they had also replaced a bad axle--all included in the price Bill had quoted me. I took my truck in on 8/8/16, and it was completed on 8/12/16 . I prayed and ask the Lord where should I take my truck . He lead me to County Transmission. If I could give a higher rating, there isn't one in our numerical system, Mr. Hampton and Mr. Michael are beyond the word professional. they treated me as a Queen every step of the way and My beloved Christopher ( My 2004 GMC Denali, very special has a mural of my son who was killed on it). I'm very particular about who works on my truck. I went in for a new transmission, not only did they bless me with new transmission (that makes my vehicle run smoother then when I brought it), but they also informed me that my brake line had broken (unbeknownst to me) and thank God I could have been hurt. They also repaired other minor issues I had, and for the price and warranty I am overly bless and appreciative. They would not let me come and get my truck until THEY were completely satisfied. My truck is so quiet its scary, but I love it. I cant say enough of how kind, personal HONEST, and professional they all are. Please, please trust me when I tell you there is none like County Transmission. You can truly trust them. My first encounter with County transmission was 2 1/2 years ago when the transmission failed on my Odyssey. They were strongly recommended by a knowledgeable friend, and I came away from that experience with a positive impression and started recommending them to friends & family any time someone had transmission problems. My second encounter was when the same car started having problems again. The rebuilt unit was 2 1/2 years & 30K+ miles old, so I knew it was out of warranty, but I took it back to County in the faint hope that it might be something relatively minor. It wasn't, but to my surprise & astonishment, Hampton told me that some time after I'd bought the rebuild, they'd started offering a longer warranty on my transmission, and that he'd honor the longer warranty! I've got my van back, good as new, and with an even greater respect for the fine people at County transmission. Getting your transmission worked on is a little like dental work. It's something you never look forward to, but once you've found a good place to have it done, you stick with it. At this point, I can't imagine thinking of taking a car anywhere else. read more

I had a transmission error code on my Toyota Matrix. County Transmission rebuilt the trans, but the error code returned. I don't believe it was the shop's error, apparently other Toyota owners have had the same issue. They went out of their way to track down this elusive problem, eventually rebuilding a different trans and installing it at no additional charge. Not the cheapest around, but their commitment to getting it done right is more than worth any price difference. Transmissions are the kind of thing that a repair shop can tell you anything they want, and you are pretty much at their mercy. I was so happy to find this shop! They are so good. I was told by several people that I needed a new transmission. I had researched the problem and found that I did not need a new transmission. I even bought the gadget that reads the codes so I knew what I was looking for. County confirmed that I was correct and they fixed this car very fast.
